Patrick Dempsey Buying Coffee Chain

Tully's coffee has 500 employees. Tully's coffee has also filed for bankruptcy. Along with some other investors, Patrick Dempsey is trying to buy the company and save the jobs. The chain is based in Seattle and  has about 100 locations. I think it is great that he is trying to save jobs. Probably trying to make some money too, but anytime you can help 500 people stay off the unemployment line, that is a very good thing. Plus, if he decides to stop acting he knows he can always get a job as a barista at one of the stores.

  2. Aww, that is sweet. Getting free coffee as the owner isn't too bad either.

  3. Please please please buy Tully's! If not then StarBUCKS will be the only one!

  5. @Reeses, HAHAHAHHAH

I do something similar everytime I see the "Window Smith" place in a nearby shopping center. I always read it as "Widow Smith" and I wonder what the poor widow sells. EVERY TIME. I've lived next to this shopping center for almost 3 1/2 years.

What a wonderful idea! I hope more celebs follow his example, a big name can add alot of buzz. I saw Hugh Jackman on some talk show and he has a coffee company too, but donates all profits. I think it's a great idea, and a good deed done.

  14. Love this, as a former Rain Towner. I spent many mornings at the Tullys in downtown (3rd & Union, I believe), back during my working stiff days. Great people, great coffee. All in all a good pr move that keeps Starbucks in check.

  15. Tullys Queen Anne. How can they be bankrupt? Sooooo good.

  16. --- because Diablo coffee is also on Queen Anne, and is soooo good! Here in Seattle, we have a ton of alternatives to Starbucks. I'm amazed that SB does so well here, given how independent minded Seattleites are

  17. Tully's makes a damn fine K-cup. I think I'll order more....

  18. Funny, because the biz section here in Sea said a group of investors was going to buy Tully's and turn it into a "bikini barista" type chain. Wonder if he is part of that group?

  19. As a Seattleite, this is all kinds of awesome if it happens.

  20. 100 locations and 500 jobs? Are there only like 5 employees for each location?

  21. @Seachica. Just curious, is Queen Anne Ave. books still closed, or did they find a new buyer? Going hand-in-hand with El Diablo, that was a great way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon. Mucho agreed on their coffee, I think the Mexican mocha which added cinnamon was esp good.

  24. I just can't with him. Remember how he looked in can't buy me love? That was exactly how my first boyfriend looked in middle school, and he was an ass. I dumped him and he called me fatass for years, which stuck.

Thankfully revenge is sweet, and I last heard he is twice divorced, bald, fat, and works at a gas station.
Sadly I see Dempsey, and that's all I remember.

  25. Bored - You should print out the best Patrick Dempsey picture you can find, and take it with you next time you buy gas. Then you can have a good time LOL'ing at how your butthole ex got run over by bad karma!
