Octomom Nominated For Four AVN Awards

Apparently the porn industry has very low standards when it comes to nominating adult movies for their top prizes. I guess I should not be surprised that an organization that hands out an award for best anal scene also decided that Nadya Suleman's first porn feature should be nominated for four awards. Apparently this is such a big deal in Nadya's life that she plans on going to the show in Vegas and plans on winning for all four categories in which she is nominated. I wonder if she plans on bringing the kids. I mean how often is it that your 14 kids get to see their mom nominated for her acting while using a toy on herself? I mean this is something that would be great at show and tell in school and the kids can go back to school and wear the special AVN t-shirts which say, "Somehow I went to the AVN Awards and didn't have sex with Charlie Sheen."

    She is doing what she can to make a living. Her life isn't great and it is riddled with bad choices but damn, bitch is working and that is more than I can say for many women who have less to deal with.
    I don't condone her life, but it is not mine to live. I say give her a break already. She is doing her best. So sick of all the hatefulness. FFS, what did she ever do to anyone outside her kin that deserves so much snark? Do you equally gross out with Kim K? Or Jenna Jameson? They are NOT working their asses off like she is. Give a sister a break already. Jesus.

    i agree with Gypsy that at least the woman is trying to support herself and all her kids, BUT, the kids are what is important and this is not a good example for them. i also think they should be taken away and be placed in an environment more condusive to them learning morals and appropriate behavior......but i also think the kids should not be separated. so who is going to volunteer to take in 14 kids and raise them?? at least a foster home would get some financial help and wouldn't have to do porn to support them.

    I'm sorry, but I don't consider masturbating on film to be "working." It's just a quick, lazy payout for her...there are plenty of single moms providing for large families without diddling their lady bits in front of a camera.

    I feel certain that this was not her first choice of employment but due to her infamy, she is limited.
    Do you think all porn stars deserve to have their children taken from them? And what about hollywood stars that do sex scenes? Who is anyone here to say that she is not a good mother? Or that she doesn't have every right to make a living the way she can?
    I am more than disappointed at the Puritan/Prynnian values most people are espousing. What ever happened to 'to each his own' and 'judge not...'?
    Just be glad you don't have to do such tasks to feed your family.

    @Gypsy I agree with you CDAN readers are one of the most self righteous and critical. The woman has 14 children and they want to compare her to the average single woman? REALLY??

    The woman already said she would not do porn and for her to swallow (no pun intended) her pride you know she had literally no choice. The reality tv thing didnt work out like kate and 8 so what else can she do?

    fek, my understanding was that she refused/refuses to do a reality show like kate plus 8 because she refuses to have her kids on air. i wonder if she is also afraid that the kids would be taken from her if the living conditions....and her parenting.....was shown. i am in no way making judgements on her parenting style, but i am saying that it would be near impossible to maintain peace and calm, let alone tidiness, in a home with 14 kids under 12 living there 24/7. if i was her would i want to let cameras in my home to record my frustration, and the various meltdowns of my kids (and me?) knowing that the events leading up to those frustrations and meltdowns would probably be heavily edited?.
    and a job working at medonalds or pizza hut is just not going to pay the bills for 14 kids. she needs a way to make large amounts of money fast and with no other job qualifications porn is the only way for her to do it.
    i understand all of that, but i still say it should be about the kids and the kids need a more 'normal' home and more moral guidance than she is providing for them.

    Is she still receiving public assistance? In het April interview, she said she was getting $2,000 a month in food stamps.

    She should write a book, do more interviews and hosting gigs. Those will still pay well. I'm not buying it that porn is her sole option for income.

    And I don't think CDaNers are prudes or judgemental. These are just honest opinions on a person who had continually made poor choices...like Lilo. They get little sympathy from me.

    I hope the people judging her have never watched porn. If we are talking moral outrage, have people stopped supporting institutions that systematically covered up child sexual, physical & emotional abuse? Because I find doing that more morally reprehensible than this.

    I don't consider myself prudish at all (in fact, I'm usually the one b*ing because decapitation and assault rifles = PG13, while one nip slip = R), and I still think there are other options.

    Also, as a mom, I would be concerned that my kids (or their friends) would, at some point, possibly encounter the tape. As someone who is already famous simply for *having kids*, she's opening them up to a whole other level of shaming/bullying.

    Last but not least, "Octomom: Home Alone" is up there on the eww-title list.
