Lindsay Lohan's Bank Accounts Seized By IRS

It doesn't seem to matter that Charlie Sheen paid Lindsay Lohan $100K to help with her tax debt, because the IRS has seized her bank accounts which means that if you want Lindsay's services moving forward you better pay cash which is not that different from what she has been doing. The thing is that Lindsay must owe a fortune to the IRS because as Lindsay likes to point out, she has done three movies back to back and her salary was not enough to pay off the IRS and the $100K Charlie paid was not enough and with no acting gigs on the horizon this could be tough for her to pay off. You know she is going to need her lawyers, both criminal and civil working for her on both coasts. She has to pay this expensive PR firm. There is her vodka and cigarettes bill which is more than the GNP of some nations. Oh, don't forget she has to support her entire family except for Michael and maybe her oldest brother. If you are some guy in Europe who wants to meet Lindsay and never thought you could afford to, this is your chance. And the good news for you when she does come meet you is that she says that does not need rehab. If she did need rehab she says then how would she have been able to finish working on all the movies she just did. Has she seen the movies?

  2. I feel nothing but sorry for her. I get tired of hearing about her drama, but, with parents like that, she kind of didn't have a chance.

  3. At least these aren't criminal or civil infractions -- they're just tax bills. But the tax years are 2009 and 2010, which means they don't include 2011's Playboy pay (and if it really was $1 million, she'll owe more in taxes on that alone than all of her back taxes for 2009 and 2010 combined). But having her bank accounts seized hurts.

  5. It would be ironic if this is what gets her tossed in jail.

  7. WTF is going on in that picture? is she about to topple over? didn't Wesley Snipes go to jail for unpaid taxes? Yes i think he did, good send the Cracken away as well. The time apart from her "proud" family will do her good - get her cleaned up and mentally stable before unleashing her into the Zombie Apocalypse that will be 2013 lol

  8. i'm surprised anyone has any sympathy for her at this point. i certainly don't.

  9. Taxes always came out of my pay before I even saw it. The Cracken will go down like Al Capone and Wesley Snipes. Michael lives off her drama. His other kids, and Dina, will help him I'm sure.

  10. My sympathy is reserved for those who want help or try to help themselves. She is delusional. And @donner, that would be poetic justice wouldn't it hahahaha.

  11. I feel sorry that she grew up in such a dysfunctional environment. She is my age, I grew up in a very dysfunctional home, and am not pulling the shit Lohan is. She is 26, she makes her own choices. I chose to seek therapy for my issues. I chose to not follow in the footsteps of others. This girl has done none of that. It is hard to feel sorry for her.

  12. Such a mess- the situation and herself.

  13. Never happy to see anyone go to jail, because that means I'm paying their room and board.

The IRS does not care if money is earned legally or illegally - they will tax anything, thus the Capine verdict.

Perhaps Lindsay has had some non-acting income she has not paid taxes on.

  14. Capone verdict - sorry. DYAC.

  15. Lest we forget that 90% of her Liz & Dick role consisted of her drinking and popping pills. She didn't have to act.

Also, I read on TMZ that she's on the hook for 2011 stuff as well.

  16. All her drugging, thievery, driving violations, attacks on others, and La Lohan is totally going down with tax non-payment. This will totally get her ass thrown in jail. The IRS does not fuck around. (Take note Los Angeles Police Department).

I feel bad for her, but then I don't. And I also shudder at thinking about how many people go through life with no life skills. Do you think she even realizes that in America we pay income taxes. Has she ever seen her pay stub? Has she ever gone through the process?

Not for nothing, but her life would make a very interesting movie.

  17. Yup, Capone went to prison for tax evasion, not his more hideous crimes. If this is what it takes for Lilo, then so be it. No sympathy.

  18. I read the headline of this story to Mr. B and we laughed like hyenas.

@ _+_=_ - if you're self employed, your taxes aren't withheld - we have a small business and we have to pay different taxes monthly and quarterly, usually on-line. We'll go without paychecks to pay the taxes - unfortunately some people like Lilo don't worry about paying the taxes until the IRS shows up.

It's my understanding that she owes nearly a quarter of a million for 2009 and 2010 alone, and they say her 2011 taxes are a mess too. I have the feeling that the IRS is not going to let her off with a slap on the hand.

I'm tired of hearing how she never had a chance with the parents she has. Yes, she has bad parents. But so do a lot of other people, many who were abused, beaten, neglected, and they grow up to be decent law-abiding citizens. She is not a kid any more. She's been in charge of her own life for quite a few years, and I have no sympathy for her at all.

  20. Lilo has a high lifestyle that the IRS won't be able to explain through her reported income.

If they choose to really put the time in, Lilo could get FEDERAL prison.
If some rich dude saves her from prison by paying off her tax bill---she better remember to report THAT 'gift' too, on next year's taxes.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Clearly this was what the psychic lady needed to warn her about.

    ReplyDelete
  22. No sympathy here. It's about time, actually. One of the few times I think the IRS is doing good.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yeah, wait a sec. Aren't they going to audit her? I highly doubt she has receipts for her purchases, and deposit records to back it up. Couldn't they as a result of an audit potential bust her for hoing, too?

  24. Jamie Spears may 'encourage' Britney to work more than she should, but sometimes I wish LL would move in with that whole clan. Get some sense slapped into her, and at least her dirty laundry would be kept AT HOME, rather than writhing drunk in a gutter and/or slugging strangers and using racial slurs.**

She needs a 'wrangler' who is NOT a Lohan, if she wants to live. and not in prison.---that's what I'm saying.

**FUNNIEST, most clueless explanation ever for lilo: From what I understand, Lilo claimed she didn't call the woman a "gypsy" because she was a fortune teller, it was because she thought she had STOLEN SOMETHING (Ali's purse). I swear I read that last night...was I high? Anyone remember THAT gem from Crack Mouth?

  25. Amber---That's EXACTLY it. They will know she's ho-ing.

    +1 mari---lol!

  26. @libby - I know she claimed she didn't know it was a slur, which is completely illogical (not that I'd expect anything more). If she didn't know it was mean, why would she bother to use it as an insult? Oh, what a tangled web we weave...

  27. Whats really interesting (ok maybe only to me) is that they seized her accounts. If you look at other high profile cases (hello Nic Cage 6mil + for 1 year alone) his accounts were not seized. My friend worked for him and he never missed a pay check.

The difference he had assets that could be sold to raise equity, was able to book jobs and great pay and was working with them to pay his obligations.

With Lindsey it shows the IRS has zero faith in her ability to pay her taxes and they seized the only asset she has, her bank account.

I don't know about you but does anyone else have the image of Lindsey and her pile of unopened bills with her saying if I don;t open them they do not exist.

I am also so tired of the shitty parent excuse. She had it way better than a lot of children with those 2. But she has made her choices, she has decided she wants to stay and play the victim, rather than do any work and take any responsibility for her life.
One could say that Drew Barrymore mother was far worse than the Lohans in terms of Hollywood moms.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Well, you can see what's coming next. Someone ELSE failed to make sure her taxes were taken care of - some poor former accountant or former manager will get the finger pointed at them and it will be their fault. Dina will hold a press conference; Lindsay will whine to TMZ or some other entertainment news outlet; this is totally someone else's fault. I don't wish any ill will on anyone but I absolutely refuse to feel sorry for someone who has had the chances she has had and turns around and gives the finger to responsibility.

  29. Amber---Slur?! You mean I can't say, "Thanks fatass" to a fatass? I didn't know that was a slur...I swear. Call the PC Police!

Kendra--I am not an accountant, but I work/ed in operations for a great huge bank. And I've been a very bad debtor too, so I see both sides.
You are absolutely correct about this meaning they have NO faith even in her ability to continue earning money. I wince while I type that, but it's true. I was always steadily employed, so never ever a threat to seize my accounts, my car--they wanted me working, of course.

I wonder if the failure of "L & D" and this latest arrest forced their hand to act quickly, right before X-mas and everything.....like both those factors are what made them think she won't have steady work coming up? OUCH.

  31. There are many different reasons why the IRS may seize Lindsey's assets. Before they take that step though, the taxpayers are given numerous warnings and opportunities to demonstrate compliance. This is a last resort for the IRS.

It is very common for young people who are self-employed to make errors that result in increased taxes, penalties and interest. Particularly if they come into large sums of money early in their careers---athletes, musicians, etc. Often they do not have the proper guidance in this area---small business accounting and taxation can be complicated if the right people aren't involved.

But back to Lindsey---she may have filed her tax returns and neglected to pay the taxes due. Or it is also likely that a company that paid her reported earnings to the IRS that were not reported on her tax return. For example, a 1099-MISC was filed with the IRS that is not reflected on her tax return. (a "CP2000" letter)

If she didn't file a tax return (which is certainly possible) the IRS will "prepare" a tax return for her with the information they have, and then assess her accordingly. The burden of proof is on the taxpayer at that point. The IRS does make mistakes, though, and they are reasonable if you contact them within their specified time frame with an appropriate response.

No need for the IRS to audit her. They already have what they need.

    Tips for all of you:

    1. If you get a letter from the IRS, respond promptly, or hire someone to do that on your behalf. When they say you need to respond in 30 days, they mean 30 days.

    2. Always make sure to file your tax return on time. Failure to file will get you in a lot more trouble than failing to pay taxes on a properly-filed return.

    3. The IRS shares their info with the states, so if you are assessed additional federal taxes, you should be proactive and settle up with the state(s), because once they contact you will pay penalties and interest.

    4. All income is subject to income tax, even "ill gotten gains". IRS publications give instructions as to how to report this income.

The IRS doesn't make the rules, but it is their job to enforce them.

  33. She should probably remember the IRS is watching next time she makes up a lie to cover one of her illegal acts again and tells people she is handing $10k in cash to Ali in a nightclub or $40k to Dina in the back of a limo.
Remember recently, one of her car "incidents" in New York, and the car she was driving belonged to wealthy artist guy? 5 bucks says she is seen with him again soon (another paid date), or she'll be in Dubai or somewhere.

  34. They always get you for taxes (see: Al Capone). She could go to prison for this if she's unable to pay up. I suspect she might be able to get a sugar daddy to bail her out, but we'll see.

I just want to kick Dinah Lohan. I know Lilo is an adult now, but damn, she needs to break away from her mom. You know that woman is draining all of her daughter's funds rather than advising her the benefits of a good accountant. Then again, it probably wouldn't matter. :(

  40. Right now there are no charges -- just tax bills. But I have to say it's strange that Lindsay, a child star who has had 1099s coming in literally her entire life, only all of a sudden is clueless about managing her taxes (or having her financial people do it for her).

    ReplyDelete
  41. I wonder if Shawn Holley demands cash up front — you know she's not defending her for free, out of the goodness of her heart. And we all know she'll be needing her services shortly.

  44. So she had money all these years for a publicist, but not an accountant? And we are supposed to believe she wants to be taken seriously as an actor and not a tabloid drama junkie? Uh huh. Probably on the advice of her "manager" Dina.

I don't feel sorry for her one bit. She is not a child and at this point, if she doesn't have charge of her own life, then it is by her own choice.

Way to live the dream you delusional asshole.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Didn't it say somewhere Mr. Pink paid her in cash?? Hope she kept records of that!

  46. You don't go to jail for not paying taxes in this country, you go for not filing or for filing fraudulent forms. As someone up thread said, it's the not filing that you get in deep doodoo for. Always file, even if you can't pay (not filing is an automatic 25% penalty...called the "idiot" penalty).

In short, if she filed, she won't go to jail for this.

    ReplyDelete
  47. You guys are scaring me. Just got my first student loan!
    @Libby That's your cue!

    ReplyDelete
  48. oh COME ON, you really think she put the cash from Charlie Sheen toward her bills? Lifetime paid off Chateau Marmont for her. Her card has been punched, repeatedly, by the fates lately and they are some cold, cold bitches who are coming for her. And because she can't use the sense that God gave her I don't feel sorry for her pathetic ass AT ALL.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I can see it guys. After all the real crimes she committed that never netted her jail time (like Al Capone) she gets thrown into jail for not filing her taxes. And let's be real here. She needs jail time to straighten her ass out. It worked for RDJ it might do wonders for her. Although, sadly, I think it'lljust be like Dana Plato and not make one sigle difference.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I read that she owes $233,000 in back taxes. Dumbass. It's not that much in Hollyworld terms, certainly she could get one of her "business associates" to enter into a longer term contract to pay that off.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I think they seized her bank accounts because she has NO assets. No homes, cars, property, jewelry (that she can prove is hers), etc. If they don't go after the cash, they will get nothing. She's not even worth it to thrown in jail, so their going for their cash. Good for them. She's worthless.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Oh, no! Gee, I hope she already paid that private investigator! Or maybe she could use that $10k that she carries around in a purse.
I hope like Hell she's not allowed to go to rehab to avoid jail time. My opinion: they should give her REAL PEOPLE jail time--not the minutes/hours that celebrities get--and send her ass straight to rehab from there.

    ReplyDelete
  53. She lost before she got started.

    ReplyDelete
  54. This is what they'll get her for, certainly. Makes me think of OJ, sitting jail for that robbery attempt, and not murder (not starting an OJ discussion, just an example). Lady Justice will get them, just takes time.

We have a small business, and while it's a damn pain in the ass to file all these forms, I do it, because I am effing terrified of the IRS. They've dinged me on two different penalties in the past, and I have learned a great deal over the years. Lindsay has had the same chance to learn from her mistakes, but she truly is delusional and doesn't think she's even doing anything wrong.

This is the first Lilo story in a long time that I'll actually keep tabs on.
