  1. What? No LiLo for Liz and Dick? Blasphemy!

  2. I love Schimdt but, MANDY PATINKIN HOLLA! He better win.

  3. Yay for GoT and Ewan(even tho he won't win and should have been nominated for The Impossible)!!

I'm glad Jack Black got nominated too.

Hugh better get that Oscar speech ready!

  4. FSP - How much does a LiLo PR job pay these days???

  5. Life of Pi looks visually stunning and I liked the book well enough, it will be interesting to see how it translates to screen.

I haven't seen The Sessions yet but John Hawkes amazed me a few years ago in Winter's Bone and I have always liked Joaquin (haven't seen The Master either), as much as I love DDL, it would be nice to see someone else win. Need to catch up on my movie watching soon.

I am rooting for Breaking Bad as always.

  6. Oh, how I mourn the loss of the movie-going experience. Being mostly deaf sucks. Love DDL and Joaquin and enjoy watching them on DVD and such, but I miss the intensity of watching in a theater, but even with headphones, much of the dialogue is lost to me because of the background noise...the music and the crashing sound effects. It's so frustrating and unfortunate.
    /done whining lol

    1. Reeses, me too. I watch a lot of foreign films with subtitles. You have a whining partner. I blame genetics and Guns'n Roses (the originals):)

  7. A bit stunned that Mad Men didn't get a best drama nod. I watch Newsroom but that show has a lot of issues.

I wonder if it's going to be a throwdown between Lincoln and The Master.

    1. I like Mad Men a lot but I really felt that their last season was lacking. The storylines were not interesting. And you're right about Newsroom, but I felt that the show actually improved with almost every episode. And so why not reward a show that's trying to do something a little different. By the season finales I felt a lot better about Newsroom than I did about Mad Men.

  8. Reeses - My mom and grandmom have major hearing issues as well, and they use a special headphone at home to watch movies. I'm sorry about your hearing loss! I don't know what it's called, but I'm going to my parents' house this afternoon so I can find out. I know my mom has major trouble hearing in movies, restaurants and shows as well.

  9. Rooting for Sally Field! The fact that Jennifer Lawrence is nominated along Judi Dench & Meryl Streep is pretty amazing. That girl is going places.

  10. Wow, I don't know half of these people or movies.

  11. Yay for subtitles and closed-captioning. But...the climactic scenes where the characters are revealing something in a hushed voice...oh, I miss that. Lip-reading only gets me so far!

Thank you, Susan...I'll be on the lookout for that info should you post it!

  12. Why is American Horror considered A MINI-SERIES OR MOTION PICTURE MADE FOR TELEVISION? This is strange to me.

But I too am shocked that Mad Men wasn't nominated for Best Drama.

As far as films, I need to step up in these next few week and get out to see some of these bad boys, I have only seen three so far.

  13. I'm stunned that Mad Men didn't get nominated, too. And Hendricks or Moss wasn't nominated, either.

  14. Hell yes for Benedict Cumberbatch. Sherlock is awesome!!

    ReplyDelete
  15. I really should go see some of these movies.

I am rooting for my celebrity boyfriend, Joaquin Phoenix. He's an amazing actor. I'd also like to see Leo win. He was robbed for his performance in The Departed, IMO.

Squinty Swift was nominated for best song? Kill me now.

  16. Homeland and Lincoln, or Zero Dark Thirty for the win. Also, that Hunger Games song is really good. You would know that if you actually listened to it.

  17. Cumberbatch was nominated, but it doesn't appear that "Watson" (now in "The Hobbit") got nominated. They're an excellent team.

  18. Jesus. I read the headline as Lohan has 7 golden globe nominations and I nearly fainted.

  19. Lincoln is fantastic. Daniel Day Lewis and Tommy Lee Jones were great.

  20. Just popping my head in to say NO DEXTER LOVE??????????????

    ReplyDelete
  21. Can amy poehler just win already. If anyone but amy wins, will be pissed

    ReplyDelete
  22. No Mad Men? Maggie Smith for Downton Abbey S2 - she cracks me up every time. I'm halfway through S2 and want Shirley Maclaine to stay so those two can trade barbs in every episode.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Um why isn't GAME OF THRONES nominated for anything?!?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Since Harry Potter walked away totally empty handed for 10 years and Leo has yet to snag a trophy, I boycott all things awards season.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Nice, now I can say I'll be seeing the Golden Globe nominated Louis CK Friday night. I love that show.

It's slightly disappointing the Cumberbatch got nominated for Sherlock but Martin Freeman didn't. He's so great.

  26. No Golden Globe nom for Anne Hathaway? I bet she's sobbing :(

Homeland has hit it out of the park this season. It does deserve a win.

    ReplyDelete
  27. @yodelay Anne Hathaway was nominated in Supporting Actress category. Along with Nicole Kidman for The Paperboy, bizarrely.

Hayden Panettiere nommed for Nashville? Those Golden Globes still taking bribes? :P

    ReplyDelete
  28. Wow, my eyes must have glazed right over her name. I'm a glutton for punishment, I have to see The Paperboy. I need to know how bad it is for some strange reason.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'm hoping for
DDL for drama, Hugh for musical
J Law for comedy (does Meryl really need one for Hope Spring? No)
I have a feeling Hathaway will get the Globe & Sally Field will get the Oscar
Homeland (Claire, Damian & Mandy too)
Modern Family hasn't been funny since season 1 and Smash?! Really?!

    ReplyDelete
  30. No Kerry Washington or Jaimie Foxx but the white people got nominated Leo and Quintin.

In case you don't already know, I am a huge Lincoln fan. HUGE. I have studied this man my whole life. So when I heard about this movie, I was quite skeptical. Damn near every time Lincoln is portrayed in our modern culture, it's inaccurate and poorly done, no one portrays his personality well, and it really irks me. I wasn't expecting much from this movie, and I'm really hard to please in this area. I tell you this so you understand how big of a deal it is for me that the movie completely blew me away. DDL definitely did his research, and this movie deserves every damn nomination it received.

  32. How do some of these get nominated when they haven't even been released yet? I don't get it. Am I missing something? Life of Pi and Zero Dark Thirty. Are they released?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Am I the only one who totally is over New Girl? It was fun for 3 episodes, but now I am really tired of that wide eyed child-woman act -.-

Jessica Lange should win in her category, she is AMAZING. If Nicole Kidman wins from her (wtf, she can't even move her face, since when is that acting?) I am gonna cry.

    ReplyDelete
  34. @Sherry - the movies are privately screened for those who can cast votes. There was a big scandal a few years ago about some of the voting members (it was the Oscars for that one, I believe) were selling their DVDs of movies that hadn't been released yet. They put some kind of code on the DVDs after that so they could track each one.

  36. @Flo - Agreed, I actually love that song. I'd be surprised if it didn't win, actually.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Here's the story - doesn't mention the codes, so maybe that's my Benadryl-addled mind...

    ReplyDelete
  38. It just blows my mind that Katey Sagal isn't nominated. She blows me away. To see her in an interview and then see her as "Gemma" (and remember her as "Peggy Bundy" or "Cate") is to see that she's amazingly talented. I am a HUGE Sons of Anarchy fan and get so angry when they aren't nominated. I heart Kurt Sutter.

  39. really sophia vergara?? i don't feel like it is that hard to be gloria. i love modern family but...

  40. I'm glad Lincoln got nominated. DDL was awesome in it and I hope he wins an Oscar for his performance.

  41. I'm trying to get past Taylor Swift and T Bone Burnett in the same entry.
