John McAfee Not Captured

Yesterday on John McAfee's blog someone reported that he had been captured on the Belize/Mexico border. Apparently that is not true and McAfee is still on the run and wanted for murder in Belize. He did mange to find time to give an interview to CNN while on the run and to don one of his many disguises and sell trinkets to an AP reporter who had been trying to find McAfee. I know he has been worried that Belize police would kill him if they get their hands on him, but don't you think giving interviews to the news media and making the police look bad is going to make things worse when he is eventually caught which he will be unless he goes to a country that has no extradition treaties.

  2. Does he have to get all the way down to Argentina? They still don't extradite, right?

If he was so jacked on drugs when he was at home, he must be in BAD shape now, to be on the run without his constant supply. He looks so nasty. ugh.

  4. I have a close friend that was his personal assistant until about a year ago. As someone who travels to ambergris Caye a couple times a year, I have heard plenty of interesting stories about John...the locals know hes corrupt ....he has give several large donations to the coast guard to hide his scruples.

  8. His story interests me, I've been reading about him lately. Mostly I'm interested to see how it plays out. Probably him disappearing (because someone killed him) or him being found with a bullet in his head (because someone killed him). He doesn't seem to have many friends.

  9. I totally thought that was Danny Bonaduce, too! lol

Buttloads of money + lack of morals/scruples + buttloads of drugs = fucked up mess.

That^ line also applies to Lindsay story; today is a low-empathy day for me. It does happen. =)

  10. Technically he's not wanted for murder. He's wanted for questioning about the death of his neighbor. However, he feels that he's a target, so has been doing all kids of weird things - like hiding from the police by burying himself in the sand and liveblogging his flight from the authorities.

If he wasn't a target before, he is now.

  11. Cee Kay - He's the guy who started McAfee software; they make anti-virus programs. He sold it some years ago, isn't a part of the company any more. And from what I read, he is quite the bath salts aficionado... he wrote about his experiences with it on a website.

He looks a little like Bonaduce there, but more like if Frank Zappa was Swedish, LOL.

  12. That story in the NYT business section yesterday (Sunday) really spelled out in detail what's been going on, in an enjoyable, funny read.
