Blind Item #2

I have talked about the most racist actors in Hollywood before, but at the top of the list for actresses who are racist is actually an A lister. Actually she might even be an A+ lister who only does movies. I'm not even sure she will even talk to people of color.

119 comments:

  1. Isn't this a blind we've read before?

    ReplyDelete
  2. Yes, I think Reese was the popular guess.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Ooh I remember that and it most popular was indeed Reese. This one is extremely vague if entyis talking about someone else.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Meryl Streep has co-starred with which Black actors?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Really don't want this to be Reese, but she is in the DM today. So is Anne Hathaway. I think they're the only two from today's DM that would fit A/A+, but really don't want it to be either of them :(

    ReplyDelete
  6. but reese was in legally blonde 2 with regina king and they had a lot of scenes together

    ReplyDelete
  7. Viola Davis.
It's not Meryl. She just looks WASP-y.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I want it to be Reese. She seems like such a frosty bitch, and soooo fake when I see her in interviews.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Another A+-lister---Aniston.

How many other TRUE A to A+ list?

Angie---but it's not her. I think she changed diapers of 'poc'.

    If this is Reese, it's a re-tread.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I don't think it's Meryl Streep because enty would not have to second guess her as A+.
If anything she is A++ and always will be.

  11. How about Jessica Chastain? I know she was in The Help, but her character was pretty much the lead bigot.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Jessica played Celia Foote, the one the racist women did not like because she married the one girls ex boyfriend. And her only friend was the maid.

I thought Reese when reading it.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I'm not so sure about Reese- wasn't she lunching with Mindy Kaling the other day? The phrease "people of color" seems like it would include Indian descent?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Unknown, you are thinking of Bryce Dallas Howard, not Jessica.

I will say it's not: Angie, Sandra B., Charlize, or Gwyneth eliminated to her Glee appearance

Could be Reese, but she did do an appearance on Friends?

    ReplyDelete
  15. So weird how people always confuse Bryce Dallas Howard for Jessica Howard, er, Chastain....SO weird.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Yes, Reese was on friends for a couple of episodes. Rachel's sister, I think.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Reese is known to be not so nice, and she hails from Tennessee, she's my guess.
I'm not going to say everyone from Tennessee is racist, but when I lived there as a teen I had some black friends and I was called some very choice names very publicly, or people around town wold just shun me.
It wouldn't surprise me if Reese grew up with at least a general sense of distrust regarding people of color.

    1. Sarah, you just reminded me of a vacation i took in the 70's, touring a dam, and i got to talking with a black man about socieological issues, how to set up a housing development to include old young all ethinics as u hv less trouble then- so it wasnt sexy flirting by any means - and boy, coupla dallas types with cowboy hats were shooting us DAGGERS, and glowering! Coming from nyc, and doing nothing but exchaging ideas, i was blown away!! So throwback, and i cant believe that in this day and age people still roll like that. Its like, its 2012, join in the real world, man. (Last sentence said in valley speak, lol)

  18. Yes we've seen this before and Reese seems the most popular guess. She may quickly do something to change that perception but that's who it looked to be.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Libby- me too! I want Enty to address the similarity, since there are no records of Jessica's father. Her birth name was Howard, btw.

    ReplyDelete
  20. What about KStew? Julia Roberts?

    ReplyDelete
  21. I am intolerant of intolerance. Period.

If this is Reese, that makes me sad, cuz chick's name is my nickname, short for Theresa.

Y'know, I've been living in NC for a year now and yes, there are racists here. the good ol' boys of the Ku Klux Klowns were real charmers. /sarcasm
Anyhoo, racism is everywhere...not just the South. Some of the hardest core racists I've met were in Michigan.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Am I the only one that has a hard time thinking of Reese as an a Lister?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Would the repetition of "actually" be a clue? That said, anybody has any idea? I don't...

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yes, racism is everywhere and it is not limited to one particular race against another particular race. It's global.

No clue who this would be. However, I think it's easy to eliminate the ladies who adopted a race different than their own.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Sarah---Enty DID address it, but it was a blind item. The commenters 'discovered' her birth name on her wiki page, otherwise I'd have never known or cared she has a stage name.

Her education at Julliard was funded by her fellow Bay-area resident Robin Williams. Isn't THAT a funny coincidence too? I wonder if she knew Robin's good friend also was named 'Howard' and had red hair and THE SAME FACE?

    2. @portlandjewel, where did you see that? I tried looking it up but could not find her step fathers name anywhere or even her moms name for that matter. She had already changed it to Chastain by her senior hs pic.

    3. I think I saw it on wikipedia but I can't say for sure. It was something I got nosey about after I read something here about her life being such a mystery... If I find I'll link it!

  26. Mag, could be referenced from the movie "Love Actually", Emma Thompson and Keira Knightley were both in that.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Its not Reese! She came to our hotel in Palm Springs to attend a wedding of a friend of hers who is a black rapper. This was in 2004. She was polite, socialized interacially all night (most of the guests were "people of color" which is unusual in that horrible place called Palm Springs, where I rarely saw a person of color except for Mexican Latinos.) I know you guys won't listen or read, but keep guessing because ITS NOT HER, guys!!!

  28. Julia...rumour about refusing to kiss denzel in the pelican brief.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That was actually Denzel's refusal

      Delete
  29. Initially liked the Julia guess but she dated Benjamin Bratt who is part Peruvian. Not so sure about eh Reese guess wither, she endorsed President Obama in 2008 which would be a weird move for someone who is supposedly racist.

    ReplyDelete
  30. "I'm not so sure about Reese- wasn't she lunching with Mindy Kaling the other day?"

Mindy Kaling prefers whites to people of color too though so that doesn't help her case.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Julia sounds good to me. There is something I don't like about her and I definitely don't like racists!

  34. Julia...rumour about refusing to kiss denzel in the pelican brief.

I think this was the other way around. Plus she loves Javier Bardem, remember her Oscar campaign for him?

    ReplyDelete
  35. I just saw This Means War and I can't figure out how any of them said ok to do that piece of crap movie and why the studio even released it. I guess it was an easy pay day, but holy bad movie have some respect for yourselves as actors. Chelsea Handler was the worst of all of them and I am a fan of hers, even she knew it was a crap film.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Using Actuall as a clue: Keira Knightley? I don't want to believe it because I absolutely adore her, but she is A list.

    ReplyDelete
  37. @BunniFooFoo, exactly. I remember that Denzel is apparently racist against whites, so refusing to kiss Julia in The Pelican Brief makes more sense than vice versa.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Oh, thats disappointing about denzel. Sometimes the way we THINK famous are is nicer than the reality, lol

    2. Not saying your wrong but when I met him he was awesome. We were tailgating and he shook hands with us.

Not saying he isn't but he's cool with me.

      Delete
  38. Darn! That should read "Actually" as in "Love, Actually."

    ReplyDelete
  39. @jkelsofarrell, in Love Actually Keira married a black man and there was lots of touching.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I realize that, but many of the other actresses listed have also acted alongside someone of color so that doesn't seem to be as much a part of the blind as what they do off-screen.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Reese or Kate Hudson

    ReplyDelete
  42. If it hadn't been for the fact that she recently adopted a black baby, I might have guessed Charlize Theron. She was born in South Africa and grew up there before apartheid was abolished. I know that doesn't mean she had to support it but if her family supported it and it was all she knew...but yeah, there is the adoption thing so I guess not...*L*

    ReplyDelete
  43. I find it hard to believe this is Reese -- she's from the Nashville area, I think her mom works and/or lives in fact in an area founded by freed slaves. This whole just blanket assumption that the South is racist often flies in the face of how the races live and work and love and play together in the South in 2012 versus the basically nonexistant racial diversity in Northern and Midwestern suburbs, for example.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I don't understand the Julia Roberts hate at all. This isn't her. She's close friends with Oprah.

I think this is one of those throw something at the wall and see if it sticks blinds. Not that there are not racists out there- it's more that with all the social media, cell phones that take pictures and record audio, nobody is going to say those things out loud. Especially an A lister.

  46. I don't think this is Reese. I'm going with Claire Danes.

    ReplyDelete

  50. This is not Reese. Maybe it's an older actress?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Because if was created by white people.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Because if was created by white people.

    ReplyDelete
  53. @Roxy--because it specifies that the actress will not talk to "people of color," so using the process of elimination, and eliminating people of color, the actress is white.

    Duh.

    ReplyDelete
  54. It's say she's never been seen with ppl of color making her white. I have no clue who thisis but it makes me sad!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Reese is a descendant of John Witherspoon whose signature is on the Declaration Of Independence.

Not that it has anything really to do with the matter at hand. Just pointing out a tidbit.

I don't even believe Reese is the person in question regarding this blind.

Claire Danes? Wasn't she in The Mod Squad with Omar Epps?

    ReplyDelete
  56. @Roxie, the assumption is that the actress is white b/c she won't talk to "people of color." But it's absolutely true that racism comes in many flavors - when I was in HS, I remember two distinct non-white groups that absolutely HATED each other. I swear, it was like a NW version of West Side Story.

Re the South being a hotbed of racism: I was born in the South (NOLA BABY!) and almost all of family still live in the South, while I live up here in lily-whit(ish) Oregon. Racism *is* everywhere, but I do believe it's more prevalent in the South because it's just a generally accepted thing handed down through generations. My mother almost had a heart attack when I started dating our neighbor's son in my sophomore year, like he was going to taint the gene pool or something. Whatever. When I was visiting my sister in Houston, I overheard a conversation where one person said they didn't think Obama should run again because "how can he fix the country when black people can't even fix their teeth?"

It's been my personal experience that racism in multi-cultural populations is more generalized and subtle, while in "whiter" populations, it tends to be more blatant (like those nutjobs in Idaho).

    Still, it sucks.

    ReplyDelete
  57. But weren't Julia & Denzel supposedly having a fling at one point? Just because you won't do something in a movie due to your audience's sensibilities doesn't automatically mean you wouldn't do it in real life. (Didn't she pretty much jump on him when he came up to accept his Oscar when she was presenting?) Having said that, I have no idea who it could be; it probably is someone no one would ever suspect.

    ReplyDelete
  58. @BunniFooFoo - Javier is white.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Anonymous11:02 AM

I think Denzel not kissing white women onscreen is a bit more complicated than him being racist. I found this quote from him several years ago:

Washington explained: "Black women are not often seen as objects of desire on film. And they have always been my core audience."

Many of his fans are Black women, so that makes some sense. He doesn't want to deal with the drama it could bring, I suspect.

And for the record, he made out with Milla Jovovich in He Got Game. He has reservations about interracial love scenes, but isn't totally opposed.

    ReplyDelete
  60. it's definately NOT reese.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Not Claire, she's not A+. She's on Homeland, started her career on My So Called Life, this actress is all movies. If Reese can't be racist due to supporting Obama then neither can Hathaway. Keira and the girl from Bend it Like Beckham were friends I thought. Kate Hudson can't be it because of A-Rod. Unless its "all movies now", then I say Aniston.

    ReplyDelete
  62. PLEASE reveal this Enty...for God's sake 2012!! I have NO patience for such bullshite!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Is the only clue that she's an A-list actress? Why is everyone guessing Reese yet nobody is stating any proof to back up a guess? What clues are we supposed to use to guess this?

    ReplyDelete
  64. It's nice to hear that PortlandJewel has first hand knowledge of Reece so it appears she should be ruled out..I do think we're not hitting the right person. People seem to be picking the bitchy girls. How about Barbra Streisand. She's never done TV that I am aware (although someone smart here will). This could very well be her since she is of a older generation and it was more common then. Old beliefs die hard..

    ReplyDelete
  65. I seem to remember that Julia insisted on Denzel for that part in Pelican Brief. The character in the book was white, but it didn't matter to the story so she was right.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Maybe Denzel just really didn't like Julia Roberts haha.

And racism was not "invented" by white people.

  70. Julia and Denzel allegedly had an affair.

I can see why they didn't kiss in The Pelican Brief. A romance would have complicated a plot. (Spielberg cut the romance between Hooper and Brody's wife from the Jaws.)

  74. Not Reese Witherspoon. Watch the movie"Freeway" Her boyfriend in the movie was African/American and they they made out many time in the flick. I doubt she would have agreed to do that film if she were racist.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Helen Mirren? Meg Ryan?

    ReplyDelete
  76. Betty White, and I say this in all seriousness.

Here are some more actresses we haven't hit on (before everyone attacks me over rankings, these are possible ladies we haven't guessed yet. Calm down!!)

    Cate Blanchett
    Kate Winslett
Tilda Swinton (she ranks pretty high, IMO. Not sure if A+ though)
    Jennifer Aniston
Kristen Stewart (like it or not she is A. No Oscar, but can open movies on her own)
Nicole Kidman (meeh on A status)
    Naomi Watts

Again, these are suggestions and a round up of ladies we may not have considered. I am fully aware that they may not meet the ranking requirements so no need to attack.

  78. Julia NEVER kissed denzel on screen, but julia ALWAYS gets her leading men

    ReplyDelete
  79. If not for the all-movies proviso, I would say Glenn Close.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Unknown - Nope. Jessica Chastain wore a blonde wig over her ginger hair and played Celia. The racist you're thinking of in The Help was Hilly Holbrook, played by Dallas Bryce Howard, who is also a red-head. My guess for the blind is either Reece Witherspoon or Julia Roberts. Both Southern girls, and both fake-nice and bitchy.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Oops! That should be Bryce Dallas Howard, not the other way around.

    ReplyDelete
  82. @roxie

How old are you? Have you taken any Social Studies or history?

    ReplyDelete
  83. Probably someone Ive never heard of.
I'm going with someone older, Glenn Close maybe.

As for racism in the south. I have to agree. Its a whole different world there and a whole different kind of racist. If you are black or Hispanic, you immediately have less worth. Its like a caste system based on skin color. No one even talks about it. It just is.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Totally agree @anoth I'm white and I get chills when I see a confederate flag. A perfect southern boy friend loved the flag and explained how the war was about cotton, not slavery and the flag means things other than slavery. I still didn't believe him n imagined he hid his racism from me.
A black friend grew up in Georgia. Here in Connecticut he explained to me that if any black person sees a confederate flag, they run. Run was his exact word. I avoid contact with them bc I assume they have poor, unpredictable judgement and might fly off the handle if I say something wrong.

Someone mentioned Glen Close. Did anyone see when she was on KELLY AND MICHAEL and seemed to have a massive attitude? Kelly was slightly rude to her, perhaps Glen was rude to Michael because she is racist? Just a question .......

*CORRECTION ....Seth Meyers was on that day and he lives in the same building as Glen.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I say Jodie Foster. How many times has she defended racist Gibson??? I hate her.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Is the racist she also a pedophile?

    ReplyDelete
  88. It's not Reese. Reese was in in the movie Freeway and her character was dating a black guy named Hakeem, played by Bokeem Woodbine.

They have a kissing scene, so it's definitely not Reese.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I've heard this before - Cate Blanchett.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I was thinking "Love Actually", but that just doesn't fit. Emma Thompson seems way too liberal to be a racist. And Kiera just doesn't seem the type, too laid back... Am I missing anyone from that film?
On the other hand, "Love Actually" was made by the dame team of peopel as "Notting Hill" starring Julia Roberts, so it mightpoint to her... "Loving Javier Bardem" means nothing, he's WHITE. Spanish people are NOT "people of colour".

    ReplyDelete
  91. Have y'all seen the movie Freeway, where a younger Reese Witherspoon makes out with all a variety of colors and genders? Don't think it's her.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Nicole Kidman was engaged to Lenny Kravitz, so it's not her.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Well, since i live in the south i must be rascist. What a crock. Down here we live and work with "people of color" everyday. Why would you people label all of us as rascist. That is rascism, judging a whole group of people as one.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. @southern I hope my comment was clear that I only sense racism when I see the confederate flag and I pretty much only see it when I've visited the south. I remember it being all over the south and I very rarely see it up north. I do t label woolen as racists bc they r southern, I do label them and I'll admit maybe I'm wring but I do if they display a confederate flag. Am I wrong about the flag? I'll trust your opinion as a southerner. For balance, I know us new englanders are impatient and especially in connecticutsnobby.

Do u label people from the North? I'm sure Southerners have stereotypes of people who aren't from their area.

  95. Mad Robin, you're right. She did jump on him while he walked away with his Oscar, and there WERE rumors of an affair during Pelican Brief. Both are known to get it in with their co stars.

    ReplyDelete
  96. I'd say Renee Zellweger because I've heard some stories, but although she has an Oscar she's been MIA recently and can hardly be called A list anymore.

Roberts and her brother Eric have often referred to themselves as "Georgia crackers," but I don't think it's her (Pelican Brief, etc.).

Hm. At a loss for this one.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Nah - the "no kissing" thing in The Pelican Brief came from Denzel, who has long refused to do love/sex scenes with white women. It's not Julia Roberts, no matter how much I hate her.

    ReplyDelete
  98. I'm thinking Rene too her resume is very WASPish. No idea about her real dating history as everyone she publicly dates she beards for.

Emma Thompson played an angel and to this day, I've never seen a more beautiful woman. Pacino is in it too.
