Behind The Scenes Of Les Mis

  1. I love how Russell Crowe can't do accents or sing to save himself, but ended up in Les Mis.

  2. Curious to see if this does well. Personally, the version of Castle on a Cloud in the ads makes my ears bleed.

  3. I have a friend who saw it already, and she can't stop gushing about how good this is. I have it on my Xmas day movie list

  4. I'm soooo tired of all the hype about this movie. I saw the trailer a few weeks ago and it doesn't appeal to me in the least.

  5. I had a dream I was in Les Miz last night. But it featured a lot of flying acrobatics.

  6. I like Anne, but her try-hard Oscar campaign is annoying as hell.

  7. I don't know how I feel about the new Les Mis. On one hand it looks really good. On the other hand there was already a really good version of it already out.

I don't think that I'll be going to see it because it's just going to remind me of our own economic situation now in America and the World where most people are very poor and a few are obscenely wealthy. This time in history just reminds me that we are getting closer and closer to that level of extreme inequality and miserable poverty for most Americans, and the World. A strong middle class is the only thing that can keep us out of a repeat of Les Mis times. Being reminded of how perilously close to that era we are is incredibly depressing and I have no wish to see it sung about for entertainment.

  9. I am excited to see this BUT when I saw a trailer with Amanda Seyfried singing I just deflated. What is with her chipmunk-ish vibrato? She is not a good singer.

  10. I know someone who went to a screening, he thinks it will be serious competition for Lincoln. I am very anxious to see it, I'm a Les Mis addict. Watched the 25th Anniversary concert yesterday on PBS LA, then spent an hour looking for Michael Ball videos on YouTube (the original Marius, still an awesome singer/performer).

  12. I've seen Les Miz maybe 15 times. I love it so much. I was hoping they'd have more of the stage performers in the movie...but then it wouldn't get all the press. Sigh. For Les Miz geeks like me, the original London/NY jean valjean (Colm Wilkinson) is playing the bishop in the movie. I'm partial to the 10th anniversary concert...Michael Ball, not an effing Jonas brother as Marius. And the glorious Lea Salonga as Eponine, rather than Fantine.

  13. I saw it on Broadway in 1988. My best friend knew one of the producers and had seen some early rehearsals and she was nuts about it. There were girls in my dorm who went to see it every weekend for months. It did nothing for me, but I'm willing to give it another chance.
