Anti-Scientology Rap
What happens when you get some people together who are former Scientologists and a guy who produces music? A rap video that bad mouths Scientology and has an appearance from Nazanin Boniadi who was the winner of the get to be Tom Cruise's wife audition and has now run screaming from the church. Thanks to everyone who sent in links. I really appreciate it.
1 - that guy is HOT!! 2- I will never get this whole Scientology thing and loving the fact that the next "Mrs. Cruise" was on there.
ReplyDeleteThat is more powerful than 10 articles....
ReplyDeleteMy cousin just told me this weekend that in high school (she went to a Lutheran school), they had a religion/philosophy class and Scientology was taught under the "Cults" unit. HAH. Maybe those Lutherans aren't so bad after all... ;)
ReplyDeleteAmber, technically it is. I think the definition of a cult is following the will of one individual...?
Delete@Em...actually ALL religions meet the definition of cult (group of people who share a system of worship, rites and symbols...it doesn't have to be under the auspice of one individual), we've just mainstreamed many of them to the point that we don't think of them as cults...not anymore at least.
DeleteI don't know how persuasive that is but it was definitely interesting that they got Naz to join them. But if you didn't know the history, you wouldn't appreciate that they actually got a candidate from Cruise's wife pool to rap against CO$.
ReplyDeleteWhere's Shelly?
ReplyDelete@Em - I just appreciate it :)
ReplyDeleteLove it! Well done.
ReplyDelete@Agent**it: I ask myself this question every time I read the word "Scientology." Why isn't anyone looking for this poor woman? Doesn't she have any non cult family members that care?
ReplyDeleteIt was actually good and I love the part about "little Tom"
ReplyDeleteYes indeed Agent It. Where is Shelly Miscavige? Where the HELL is Shelly Miscavige?!! Her Mother died mysteriously too. What makes you think the the church of cash wouldn't murder? They imprison, beat, starve, force labor, steal, lie, cheat, do illegal surveillance, blackmail, force divorces, break up families; all the bad stuff. The village voice articles on them are the best out there. I am all for freedom of religion, but they are a cult, and they abuse and extort their followers. They are so creepy, and we can't let the uproar die down, we need to keep this in the forefront of the publics mind that they are truly evil and are imprisoning people against their will. Why is our Government condoning them and allowing them to have tax free status?
ReplyDeleteAnd where is Shelly Miscavige? It's pretty telling when the wife of the leader isn't even safe from them.

Watch one of their toadies come on here and say, " Hey guys, I like them, they do alot of good. "
ReplyDeleteGreat rap. I love how Marty raps a little. Is THAT tony Ortega? Lose the earrings handsome! Otherwise he is pretty cute.
ReplyDelete@Lola
ReplyDeleteThe mainstream religions are very different from cults.
Cults are different in that they practice all or some: mind control, shunning, unreasonable social demands (separation from family), financial pressures, and the treatment of a human leader as a god/all-knowing figure.
Scientology is considered to be a cult.
None of these video players are working on my computer.
ReplyDeleteIt just occurred to me that this rap is based on Queen's "The Show Must Go On."
ReplyDeleteUsually I can't stand rap but this was amazing--all aspects of it. wow.
ReplyDeleteHarvey's right. I'm sure one or two of them will up in here and accuse us all of being "S.P.'s - Suppressive Persons." Well, let them. It's not like the can make us scrub bathroom tile with toothbrushes for a month as punishment.
ReplyDelete@tuxedo, you are using a very limited definition of cult. A cult does not necessarily require a charismatic leader (although Jesus and the Pope both qualify) nor do they require any of the other things you mention (although again, all mainstream religions fit the mold you describe at some point in their history). All mainstream religions absolutely fit the definition of cult (indoctrination, group think, shared symbols and rituals...that's off the top of my head)
ReplyDeleteOh how I love that! Now they need to make it into a full blown video - with everything that could make it understandable to someone who hasn't followed this whole thing.
ReplyDeleteAnd y'all are right... It needs to end with the line "where the hell is Shelly Miscavige?!?"
I hate, hate, HATE Dainty Dave Miscavige and the cult. Horrors.
