Did you watch Liz & Dick? What did you think?

No, and I think I made the right decision.

Yes. It was everything everyone thought it would be.

  3. No and I agree with Sweetiebird.

    ReplyDelete
  4. It was so much worse than I could imagine. I could only stomach to watch for 15 mins and I was pretty drunk...it should have been more amusing

    ReplyDelete
  5. No, but I want to. Kinda wanted to wait until there were good drinking game rules associated with it.

  6. Lindsey Lohan's performance was horrific. She waaay over played the character, it was like this whole movie was only created to embarrass LL.

    ReplyDelete
  7. No, but if I had Lifetime you can bet your ass I would've. I read Patton Oswalt's live tweets this morning & watched the videos EmEyeKay posted earlier (thanks, btw!), and I think maybe that's enough.

Only because I don't have cable. I would've enjoyed playing along with the live feed going on in my instagram and twitter.. People were enjoying Lindsay bashing like it was a new American pastime! Too funny I say.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Could Lindsey have a least watched a few of Liz Taylors interviews and tried to replicate her voice just a BIT? The Liz I remember had a slightly Madonna-ish British accent. Not'Freaky Friday' wíth a black wig!

    ReplyDelete
  10. I did not only because Boardwalk Empire and Once Upon a Time consumes my sundays. I will watch tonight tho.

Ot- Boardwalk was amazing last night. Just amazing.

  11. YES AND I THOUGHT SO MANY THINGS. First of all, Lohan didn't even attempt to not sound like herself, and every time she laughed I thought she was going to hack up a tar ball. She didn't start looking Liz's age until the part where Dick dies. Also, she needs to lay off the face fillers. Her crying face looks like she's excited about something. The only things she did well were pop pills and get drunk.

I am bummed that this had to be the first Liz movie. She was such a legend, and I think something better could've been done to honor her.

    1. @Amber, This wasn't the 1st Liz Movie. Sherilyn Fenn played her in another TV movie 500 years ago and Liz tried to stop it. I never saw it, but she was a dead-ringer for Liz back in the day (even if her beauty mark is in the wrong spot)!

Yeah, Lilo blew. I tuned-in for 15 minutes after The Walking Dead and then I shot my television.

  12. I watched a little of it. Not only was Lindsey's acting bad, but the editing, the makeup, the script, etc.. the whole thing was shit! I don't know who approved this to air but whoever it is should be fired! My dog could make a better picture!! Poor Lindsey - the beginning of the end!!

  13. Horrendousness personified.

  14. IT wasn't even fun bad, it was just BAD bad. I was looking forward to an SNL like movie, kind of like the HR reviewer said but I was just bored. I turned it off after 45 minutes. Anyone know what the ratings were?

    ReplyDelete
  15. It was epic. Recorded it on 2 DVRs, just in case. I'm so hoping that Lifetime remakes Sunset Blvd starring Lindsay Lohan in a few years. Can't you just see her saying "I am big, it's the pictures that got small!"?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Nope, forgot about it plus Sundays are busy nights for me with Good Wife, Mentalist and Boardwalk Empire

    ReplyDelete
  17. I didn't but my mother, who is a lifetime movie junkie, did & she turned it off after 15 minutes. When my mother won't watch a sappy love story you KNOW it's got to be bad!

    ReplyDelete
  18. sadly I popped in for about 5 minutes..It was gawd awful!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Didn't watch it - watched Boardwalk Empire & Homeland. Will probably watch about 10 minutes of Liz & Dick tonight - that'll be about all I'll be able to handle.

@rejectedcarebear - that episode was just great, wasn't it? I'm hoping Richard will kill Gillian & Gyp while they're having sex with a single bullet. Although I really like the actor playing Gyp.

And if they hurt Richard, I'll stop watching. I mean it.

  21. SusanB- I also hope Richard takes care of those two! I despise Gillian but I also really like Bobby Canavale (who plays Gyp) so I'll be sad to see him go but his character scares me! I did notice a blood spattered Richard in the previews so me thinks he kills someone!! Also, if anything happens to Richard, I am DONE! They took Owen from me, don't take Richard too!

    1. Owen was sad, but ive not recovered from jimmy yet!!!! Gillian is one champion bitch, she cant anyone having any happiness at all. She just has to ruin it. I agree, nothing better happen to richard!!!!!!!!!!

  22. I tuned in off and on. So many issues with it. I laughed out loud when they were showing "clips" of "Who's Afraid of Virgina W?". Ms. Taylor famously gained weight for the role. LL was wearing tight leggings over her tiny legs. When she's crying about being called "fat" in the press I couldn't stop laughing.

I agree with previous posters. I don't think LL has ever watched the divine Ms. Taylor. She didn't even ATTEMPT to sound like her.

    So sad.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Did not watch but will if given the chance. I expect to last about 20 minutes before cringing so badly I fall off the couch.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I literally felt like I was watching Lindsay Lohan having fun playing dress up and goofing off with her friends because she didn't seem to show ANY effort to actually act! Her raspy voice made me cringe every time. With that voice, the only roles she should play are like the crack addict hooker that Frank almost marries in that It's Always Sunny episode.
I was hoping for things to laugh at bc I love a bad movie but this was so amateurish. I was bored. I'm still pissed and confused why Lindsay was allowed in Liz's Cleopatra trailer!

Richard from Boarwalk is the man.. When he broke out them guns I did a little happy dance! And chalky white was especially gangster this episode .. I love him so!

  26. Anonymous10:59 AM

@B626 Your comment nailed it; she sounded nothing like Liz Taylor and it was obvious she didn't spend much time studying the way Liz spoke. She just looked and acted like Lindsay Lohan in a bunch of different costumes. Meh.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Didn't watch it, watched Intervention Canada instead, which is basically like watching Lindsay Lohan anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I watched it alone and sober, and that was a huge mistake. I'm sure my neighbor heard me cackling every few minutes, and it was at its peak when '80's Liznay appeared, then promptly rolled back her eyes and gracelessly plopped on the floor, kind of like her career. Sadly, Liznay wasn't the only one screaming "I'm BORED!"

At least "Valley of the Dolls" had some awesome over-the-top acting by Patty Duke, and even though Sharon Tate couldn't act, she was breathtakingly beautiful to look at.

I could go on and on. This movie was Craptacular at best, and at worst, it was deeply insulting to Elizabeth Taylor's memory.

    ReplyDelete
  29. She was so bad that I often found myself forgetting this movie was supposed to be about Elizabeth Taylor. And I agree with the earlier posts about her failing to even attempt to sound like Liz.

Did anyone else also find it funny how, when she was supposed to be punching at Richard Burton or throwing tables, ect. that she didn't look like she put any effort into it?

    ReplyDelete
  30. I agree Boardwalk was amazing. The line Capon spit out to close the episode was absolutely great and after a couple boring episodes early in the season, you now damn well there will be utter chaos and blood to come. Mix in some titties and 5* episode on the horizon.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Nope, was watching The Walking Dead!

Cant wait to catch up on Boardwalk Empire & Homeland. ITA w/Richard being the man! Love him-I hope he kills Gillian....I hate her!

    ReplyDelete
  32. @Mrsbearkcmo - Yes. ET had a very feminine, soft voice, but she could belt it out when she wanted to. Lilo sort of screeched with her indoor voice. Granted, the dialogue was horrible, but the actor who played Burton managed to do fairly well in spite of that.

Lilo play Liz playing Martha was the worst!

    ReplyDelete
  33. YES! And it was delightfully horrible. Cheesy, schmaltzy, corny whatever you want to call it. Lindsay sounded like she needed oxygen between takes. It was wonderfully awful. Thank you Lindsay Lohan.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I was hoping it would be entertainingly bad but it was only bad bad. It was LL in bad wigs spouting insipid dialogue while sounding like she had emphysema. I hope Lifetime got the ratings it wanted ... I can't believe they hired her for her talent.

  35. Gyp Rosetti is a dead man!!!!

Of course I watched the whiole thing and tweeted it.

    Best line from twitter:

Someone out there Tara Reid is on the phone, "Two words- Grace Kelly."

    BAHAHAHA.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Not only was she bad, the guy who played Richard sucked too. Every line out of his mouth sounded the same; happy, sad or angry. The accent was like a mix between Sean Connery and the Dos Equis guy. The older Liz wig was a mess, the sets looked cheap and the green screen...how do you mess up green screen work?! *faints like Lilo in her White Diamonds wig*

    ReplyDelete
  37. The Walking Dead! Love it. I caught clips of that mess though. Wow.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I couldnt get past the voice either. Like Selma from the SImpsons. Smoked out!!!

    It was awful.
The writing, the actors, all of it.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hey, quit it with the BE spoilers! Not everyone has watched it yet!

    ReplyDelete
  40. yes. i thought it would be funny, but it was actually sad. not that i know anything about acting, or directing, but it was really awful. i thought the guy that played burton was good (for a lifetime movie). and that made lindsay look worse. the only believable scenea she had were some of the onea where ahe was crying. and that seemed too real. she's just sad and pathetic now. i remember when she use to be so "bright". her life has had the vital essance sucked out of it by drugs and poor choices. people on twitter were so mean i worried she might try and kill herself. so's an emotional wreck.

too bad SAG won't require rehab or an evaluation if a directors report an issue. like 3O day referral, no charge, to check things out and make sure people are ok. as long as she gets work she won't change.

she started going to AA and stole her first (reported) piece of jewlery 6 years ago. lindsay's plan isn't working for her issues. but what will be done to help?

    ReplyDelete
  41. I attempted to watch it but kept losing focus due to the bad acting. My favorite bad scene was when she was on a bed and was hitting richard with a "flurry of fists" on his chest. I laughed so hard at that part. I truly hoped lindsay would find the actress from within and give a memorable performance but sadly its memorable in all the wrong ways. On another note this is probably lifetime's highest rated movie.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I couldn't make it past 10 minutes, even though I 'd been looking forward to a campy good time... she is such a ba-d-d-d actress, and the voice, OMG! Elizabeth Taylor had such a sweet, brittle voice...

    ReplyDelete
  43. Just finished watching it. I will never get that time back. It was bad. Just like the others have said. And bad bad not entertaining bad. Cringe worthy bad. So bad that it makes Tori Spelling in Mother may I sleep with danger look award winning. Bad!!!

  46. I had a bottle of wine set up to drink every time something ridiculous happened....after 2 hours I ended up with a full glass poured that wasnt even sipped on because this movie was so horribly written. Lindsay was horrible, the way the movie was set up with them in all black dictating their own story was stupid....I felt with Linds when she screamed about how "bored" she was lol

    ReplyDelete
  47. I was done after 25 minutes. I'm sorry (actually I'm not) but Lindsay CAN'T ACT. She never could. Mean Girls? She was only passable in that because she had a great, biting script to work from. I've seen better emoting from Jenny McCarthy in that sitcom she did with Pauly shore 20 years ago then I ever have from Lindsay. Lindsay's fake "crying' was atrocious. She was dead behind the eyes during every scene she was in. Did she even know she was making a movie? There wasn't a single genuine moment from her throughout the entire thing. You know why Hollywood won't give her a big chance? SHE HAS NO TALENT.

The guy who played Richard Burton's brother was the only person involved in this glop that actually gave a credible performance. At least somebody involved in this knew how to act.

I can't believe I missed "The Good Wife" for this ooze.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I sat down with a drink to watch it. 5 minutes in I got the bottle out. At about 6-7 minutes I could see a crack in her makeup that ran all the way down the left side of her face. I think she had partied and slept in it. The cheap wigs with the long hair in her eyes was bad. I thought I was watching a HS play with the worst possible actors. The bottle was more entertaining. I watched the first hour, could not stand any longer. She is not an actress she is always just herself. She did not even try. I have said this all along, she stinks and her life is a reflection of her sparking personality.

Boardwalk smoked last night. I will be mad if anything happens to Richard and I so want Gillian to bite it.

  50. I watched the whole thing. There was not a single moment that was reminiscent of Elizabeth Taylor. Lohan just showed up and spoke her lines, she didn't even try.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Just the trailers for this movie are bad enough...and besides, Walking Dead was on!!! Woohoo, we're one step closer to a Merle/Daryl Governor/Rick showdown. The kid that plays Carl acts better than LL. Hell, Little Baby KickAss can act better than LL.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Oh man! I went in to it with low expectations...and it was hoooooorrrie. I was hoping she would have taken it seriously...watch some Liz movies, research her facial expressions..I felt she was playin dress up the entire time. I kept waiting for a bigger bomb moment. I had hope in her but lost it all as she clearly is insane...watch shell probably say she'll win an Oscar!

    ReplyDelete
  53. @auntliddy - I miss Jimmy too! I cried when he died and was depressed for DAYS after. I'm hopeless at figuring out what will happen - it totally blindsided me.

    ReplyDelete
  54. ^ i still can't believe Nucky had the balls to do it himself.

Don't worry,no one spoiled anything. No one died. "but let's talk about who's going to die!" LOL.

I read about the real Nucky Thompson (Johnson) on wiki, inneresting!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I hope they show this in Australia given that Grant Bowler is in it! I shall have to wait and see...

    ReplyDelete
  56. We must have watched different movies. I thought Lindsey was wonderful!

    KIDDING!

Our Linds phoned in a one-dimensional performance. I don't even think she thought she cared or even tried to do a good job. She just showed up and collected a check. She obviously doesn't give a shit anymore.

Have I have seen worse performances? Yes?
Can I name them now? Um, No.

LL had a flat voice with no intonations, a horrible, phlegmy laugh and sometimes remembered to pull a vague British accent out of her ass now and again. I mean againe. The movie wasn't even campy bad. It was boring bad. And that's the worst bad of all.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Oh, Jesus. Daddy Michael compared Lindsay to Meryl Streep today:

  59. Liz = No. Dick = Yes.

    More Dick.

    ReplyDelete
  60. YES, I remember Sherilyn Fenn playing Elizabeth now you mention it, she wasn't too bad as I recall.
I watched last night and I thought it was an ok movie to be honest. I was expecting it to be way worse I guess. Grant Bowler did a very good job especially on the mannerisms and that accent, not an easy one to pull off.
The movie seemed to be going ok and then it just kind of wrapped up very quickly at the end, I felt like they were missing years of material for some reason or maybe the writers decided take creative license.
Lindsay was terrible. I felt she was too young to play the part but she isn't that much younger than Liz was in Cleopatra. I guess Liz just seemed older for some reason with 4 or 5 marriages behind her at that point. The horrible wig she wore most of the movie was so cheap and tacky looking considering there are lots that look very realistic although the "White Diamonds" one at the end as someone else mentioned was probably the most realistic LOL To anyone that didn't know anything about Elizabeth Taylor they got a very one dimensional view last night and that can only be blamed on the writers and producers though, along with agreeing to have Lindsay cast in the first place.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I tried to watch it but after 10 min I had to turn the channel. That was beyond bad and sadly it wasn't all Lindsay Lohan's fault. Yes the majority of it was her horrible acting but it was also bad everything else too. It wasn't funny to watch I actually felt uncomfortable by the whole thing.

    ReplyDelete
  62. It would've been bad enough if she hadn't tried at all to mimic Liz's voice, but the funny thing is that she would put on a bit of a really bad British accent for the first few words of every scene, then she'd be back to her own cancer-stick voice. If it had been one or the other, you'd have gotten used to it, but she kept going back and forth.

    Best parts:

"I'M BORED! I'M SO BORRRRRED!" Yes, we all are, Lindsay.

"I don't want to say it's colon cancer, buuuuut..."

The 'fell through a trapdoor' faint.

'I-4' falling down the stairs. Should've been tragic, but it was one of the few laugh-out-loud moments.

The shiteous wigs. Lifetime blew their whole budget on her incarceration insurance, so they apparently used $20 wigs they bought off of a mall kiosk.

    The hilariously awful green-screen effects.

The 'cameos' were fun. Maxwell Sheffield, Steve, and Creed. Theresa Russell looked better than she has in a long while.

It was bad even for a Lifetime movie, because it took itself way too seriously. Also, I am convinced that they stopped filming halfway through because Lindsay was giving them too much trouble, then they spliced back in some discarded scenes and behind-the-scenes footage to stretch it to two hours. Oh, and the "ghost" narration.

Best line I read on Twitter: "Trains are embarrassed to be associated with this train wreck."

I hope everyone is right in predicting that the Razzies will create a special made-for-tv category this year just for Liz & Dick.

The sad thing is, I think Lindsay really did "try" during the filming. She just plain sucks.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Every single person who watched should be ashamed of themselves for keeping LL's career going for even one minute longer.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Worst Acting Attempt Ever She was awful. The I'm so bored line was so bad it was laughable. The tacky Cleopatra wig looked like it was bought off a hooker. She made no attempt to sound like Liz at all.Who ever hired her for this movie needs to be fired.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I'm watching it right now.

Her attempt at the accent is terrible.

  66. 'Liz & Dick' scores decent 3.5 Million viewers for Lifetime

    Nov. 26, 2012, 7:30 PM EST

    By Tim Kenneally
    TheWrap.com

"Liz & Dick," the Lindsay Lohan-starring biopic of screen legend Elizabeth Taylor, might have been slammed by the general public, but it drew decent numbers for Lifetime.

Sunday's airing of the movie pulled in 3.5 million total viewers, the network said Monday.

Bing: Lohan 'devastated' by 'Liz & Dick' reviews?

The Lifetime Original Movie, which also starred Grant Bowler as Taylor's husband Richard Burton, averaged 1.3 million viewers in the advertiser-cherished 18-49 demographic.

In that demo as well as others, "Liz & Dick" was the year's fourth most-watched original movie premiere on ad-supported cable, behind the Lifetime movies "Steel Magnolias" (which drew 6.5 million total viewers with its October premiere), "Drew Peterson: Untouchable" and "Abducted: The Carlina White Story."

Compared to all of Lifetime's original movies this year, "Liz & Dick" was up 40 percent in total viewers, and 41 percent in the 18-49 demographic.

The network will run an encore of "Liz & Dick," which was executive-produced by Larry A. Thompson, directed by Lloyd Kramer and written by Christopher Monger, at 8 p.m. Monday.

  67. Lindsay did not spend enough time with the script. It felt like she ran through the lines without considering timing, pacing. It was strange that she was much more convincing in the wig, as an older Liz. Before we take her seriously, she needs to take herself seriously. Her acting in Mean Girls was pretty elegant compared to her latest attempts. You can sense that she invested herself in the work then. I just dont think she cares as much as she says she does, maybe she should just retire and own it.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I thought Lindsay did ok and here's why: I actually have never seen a Liz Taylor movie, looked at too many pics of her young (until I researched last night), and I have only heard her speak as an old, loopy woman who loved Michael Jackson (ew). so in that respect, Lindsay kinda nailed it. the fact that she can do "so so" being the CRACK HEAD she is really makes me sad. Lindsay had so much potential. poo poo.

    ReplyDelete
  69. ps. the stars of the film, in my opinion, were the rough, dry, cracked and dirty oven mitts that Lindsay calls "hands" even the "natural look" mani she had going on could not hide the blatant drug use/addiction.

    ReplyDelete
  70. One of the gags they would do on the Benny Hill Show was they'd chop off the sides of movies (chopping off names of actors and films) to fit onto the squarish TV's of the day. Like how a movie is wide and a TV is square.

The one I saw Saturday night did this. "RAN SIN" (Frank Sinatra) was one, but the main feature was "Who's Afraid of Virgin Wool." They then did a parody of that movie, with Benny Hill as Liz Taylor.

Benny Hill aping Liz Taylor was more believable than Lindsay Lohan!

    ReplyDelete
  71. I had every intention of watching it. I really did.
I was at work, and even convinced them to put it on the big screen...I started watching it, but then the inevitable happened and everything went to hell in a hand basket (and I don't mean the movie) so I didn't get to watch.
I'm chalking it up to Divine intervention.
However, from what little I saw, couldn't they at the very LEAST have sprung for violet contacts?

  72. I love how she was supposed to be fat in certain scenes but they didnt bother to change her appearance, she still looked 89 pounds
