Rod Stewart Cries Over His Team Winning

Rod Stewart has always been a huge Celtic fan and when they beat Barcelona for what is arguably their greatest win in their 125 year history, it was just too much for him to handle and he broke down and cried.

I think this is so sweet and adorable. I"m so glad for him that his team won. Obviously there's alot of emotion behind that win. Everyone gets a little misty eyed sometimes!

  7. that's a shitty thing to say, timebob. you don't know what he did or didn't do for his kid.

is Rod Stewart such an asshole that you would go there? Geez some people will find negative shit to say about anything.

This right here. I LOATHE Barcelona. Liars, cheats and floppers.

Does this win eliminate them from CL?

    Hala Madrid!

    1. @hot it looks like Barfa and Celtic will advance but there's still more group stage matches to be played.

  9. Am I the only person who thinks it is a bit over the top to cry for a sports team? Joy and Anger I can understand but unless you are part of the team tears seem a bit much to me.

  10. I worked for Rod in the mid-late 80's and one thing he is not is an asshole. Very genuine man. At least he isn't hiding his emotions :D

  13. Awesome win for Celtic! I know Rod's been a humongous supporter of theirs for years (featuring the team in songs, videos) so I can imagine his joy!
    Well done, Celtic!

  14. Shows how much I know. I thought it was the Boston Celtics playing some team from Spain.

  15. Ah that might be the "S"elts rather than the "K"elts, no?

  16. Haha @susan, I thought that for a second too but then realized bball just started, not time for the championship.

  17. @Jules Its the Champions League, not a championship - yet. The final won't be played until April/May. The best three teams of each league play each other and losers are eliminated at each stage. We are still in the initial eliminations. (Feel free to correct my assessment, anyone).

@katsm0711 Not to mention they're racist mocking of black players (Busquets mocking of RM's Marcelo last year). The sh!t they get away with is astounding.

  18. ^Sorry, "their racist".

  19. Please, I'm Rangers Till I Die, and even I cheered when Barfa was beaten.
Of course Rod was that happy, who can blame him?

  20. I think everyone unites when Barfa loses! Only two teams advance from the current group stage. Barfa doesn't turn a profit yet must be getting secret, magic loans from failing Spanish banks that nobody knows about. Their UNICEF deal made me vomit. Milan lost 60 milllion last year so we were forced to sell our 2 of the best players in the world. Barfa doesn't seem to be doing as well without Guardiola who I'm hoping comes to coach Milan in January. I love Madrid too! Did anyone else see Madrid vs Milan at Yankee Stadium in August?

  21. i think this is adorable, it was a monumental moment for all glasgow celtic fans (: that being said, their fans aren't perfect and the level of sectarianism that exists in my country because of the Old Firm is disgusting. football turns people into animals.

  22. Their overselling of Messi is unbelievable. He's sh!te when he plays for Argentina. CRon is much better, and prettier.

I watched the RM/Milan game on computer. ESPN3 isn't carrying much in the way of international soccer these days (no La Liga).

katsm, who do you like in Premier League? I'm a Chelsea and ManCity fan myself.

    2. BeInSports bought the rights to serie a, la liga and I think league 1 is the last one. Espn and fox soccer carry EPL and champions league. It sucks having to stream online now! Oh and I'm not sure what goltv and MSG carry but I see CL and EPL on MSG.
I'm AC Milan, I like juventus and Napoli, then real Madrid and Tottenham but thanks to BeIn making my life difficult bc they're only available on satellite and Comcast, I only follow serie a and CL. I could never get into EPL, I just don't love the style. And la liga is the Barfa and Madrid show so it's basically just which of them win the trophy. Oh I'm getting into bundesliga, that's on goltv. There's an announcer that I love to listen to. I'm horrible but I can't get into MLS probably bc it's like the EPL style. Italian style just grabbed me.

  23. I am a Toronto Maple Leafs fanatic and on my lifetime they have never won it all. When the do....ill be pulling a rod in more ways than one.
    Good on you Rod.

  24. As a football fan, I have to say football is probably the most passionate game out there as it does stir a lot of emotions which in turn brings out all types of behaviour hence hooliganism, hatred and love. I cry sad tears when England lose and happy tears when we win the big and unexpected ones. My team, not so much as they have been disappointing a lot. So I totally understand Rod's tears. Football is indeed a beautiful game.

  25. I was watching last night and I gotta say it warmed my heart to see Rod crying. My dad is a big Rod fan so I have a soft spot for him.
I love football. Always have. Can't wait for the group stages to be over so we can get to the good stuff, the knockouts.
I was so pleased for Celtic and Neil Lennon. He is a brilliant manager and deserves to go down in history, especially after the disgusting abuse he has endured in the past few years while refusing to be bullied out.
    Delighted for them.
Happier for my team though. Top of the group and easily through to the next round. GGMU!!!

  26. Great for Rod.
PS: I also hate barça, like 75% of Spaniards.
I'm not a "Madridista" (Real Madrid supporter), but someone who hates cheats, financial sheninagans and every other "typical" barça actions.

  28. Rod spent the night playing pool with us ordinary people (when I was working in radio) and we were all having a grand old time. Rod is not an asshole. Sometimes that old saying is true - the good guys tend to last. The jerk-offs - not so much.

  29. Am completely loving this thread! Although I didn't get to see the match, I know how much it meant to people back home, especially since Neill Lennon comes from my town. So chuffed for Celtic, barca are just a bunch of cheats! In saying all that though, at the end of the day, I bleed red....'Mon United!

  30. I cried when the Cardinals won the 2006 World Series. I was watching the game with my Dad when they won it and it was just like when they won in 1982. The emotion just took over, such a "Cat's in the Cradle" moment lol

  31. U know what sucks, I recorded this match while I watched juventus win 4-0! And after I'm like I can't sit here 2 more hours and Barca will cream Celtic so I deleted it. I wish I watched but now I will bc they seem to be not so unbeatable without Guardiola. I really hope Guardiola comes to Milan and I do think his Spanish style will work in Italy.

  32. Love this. His recent autobiography is *hilarious*. Read the serialisation in the Daily Mail - best stuff I've read there ever.

  34. I'm probably late to the party but that Celtic (and whomever asked, yes it is pronounced Sell Tic) won against Barca was completely amazing. I swear this whole city was jumping.

The Old Firm bigotry is horrific and should be eliminated, I was a Celtic supporter for most of my life, even worked in Parkhead (Paradise!) for 4 years - but seeing the awful side of the beautiful game made me take a step back.

And even though Barca are known for their awful practices, I thought their tweet after the game was very classy.
