ReplyDeletePet-peeve time. I really wish we'd stop heaping exuberant praise on celebrity (air-quotes or not) women who are lucky enough to have the time (or the money) to get themselves back into tip-top shape after giving birth.
ReplyDeleteI mean, I understand that for them it's usually a matter of being able to return to working--and really, good for them that they have the resources to do it--but it sets up unrealistic expectations for the average woman. New mothers beating themselves up for not looking perfect shortly after having their child; everyone else judging new mothers for not being able to shed perfectly reasonable post-birth pooches.
Of course, almost everything about 'celebrity' makes the average woman (and even men too, sadly) feel like crap about herself, so... this may be a pointless rant :)
for me, seeing the vulva on a model at a fashion show takes away a bit of the glamour.

ReplyDeleteThese celebrities as far as I take it have nip/tuck after having babies, they don't believe in exercising. They believe having their bodies back the quick way.
I really can't stand the little girl. He is such an idiot. Can't wait for him to be gone and forgotten.
if something is unflattering on adriana lima, I'm not sure how they expect the consumer to believe it'll be flattering on them.

ReplyDeleteAdriana Lima has always ALWAYS been my favorite of the VS models. And her body looks like a normal woman's! I like that. She is really a beautiful woman and she has the after baby birth glow. So cute!
ReplyDeleteI don't know. My 30 year old sister in law had my nephew at the end of June, and she looks INCREDIBLE. She just went on a beach vacation with my brother and I saw pictures of her, and she looks perfect, like she never had a baby. She started working out a few days a week once the doc told her it was okay and she does NOT starve herself. Girl LOVES to eat. Sometimes it's just genetics. Everyone's body is different. Don't shame anyone for not losing the weight quickly, but don't shame them for losing it either. Just because they lost it more quickly than others doesn't mean they did unsafely or by starving themselves.
ReplyDeleteAlessandra Ambrosio is a work out beast. She trains jiujutsu with guys who are serious and I've heard she's mid level, which from those guys would be a black belt almost anywhere else in the world.
ReplyDeleteIt is mostly genetics, combined with the minimal weight gain put on during pregnancy and the exercise afterwards. I am naturally slim and lost all my baby weight but god do I envy Alessandra Ambrosios toned stomach! Mine is flat but certainly not that tight just yet - definitely a motivator!
ReplyDeleteThese models don't gain much to begin with while pregnant and are genetically blessed height/weight distribution wise anyway.Not to mention zero stretchmarks! 2 of my sisters are naturally very fit and slim figured. One is model tall,the other super petite. Neither gained much weight and were back to almost normal 3 weeks post partum. I didn't gain anymore than they did and boy as it dfferent for me. I was119/size3/ 5 when I got pregnant.It took me almost 9 months to lose the weight with first,then got pregnant again.I am realistic, I will never see that size again. I never gained anymore than 30 lbs.(only 15 w/ baby #2) with any of my girls but my body just changed and those size 5 hips/butt wouldn't come back with yoga,pilates,and any of the stuff I did. Luckily my man likes curves.I am a 10 now and have embraced the hourglass figure but seeing these models does create envy,especially after they just gave birth! I'd like to blame my inability to get super thin on being 5'2ish but my very slim sister is the same height as me. :/

ReplyDelete@deree: I'll bet your man loves your curves and loves you as the mother of his kids most of all. Most straight men don't get too excited about women with visible clavicles or hips that could bruise them.
ReplyDeleteI live in a high-rise on South Beach that is home to a large number of very skinny models. Not super-models, or they'd be working out of NY. Models, nonetheless.
They have incredibly freakish bodies: very tall, no hips (30" hips, really). Not an ounce of body fat. If they have breasts, they're implants.
I'm in awe of these creatures, even though I can tell you that some don't even qualify as pretty. Instead, they have "interesting" faces, and sharp cheekbones. And they are in the gym every 26 minutes in case they gain an ounce.
I've been here for almost four years and the maintenance guys (I'm not a 1%-er) all ogle the same type of women. Not me, and not the models.
Someone with a natural curve and a bottom seems to work here.
I think they have become so accustomed to outrageous false tits that tits are no longer interesting.
I know this may sound mad to someone posting from somewhere else, but as a straight woman, I regularly encounter almost-exposed gigantic tits in the elevator. On an otherwise tiny woman. Her shirt will be open enough to make sure you see the massive cleavage.
You see enough of this, not only do you get immune to it, you start to want something different.
I just remembered Lily Aldridge just had a baby and she walked the VS Fashion Show too. That makes 3 new mommy Angels for last nights show!

Guys, remember what Beyonce taught us. It is not physically possible for a woman to lose weight quickly after pregnancy, so logic tells us that she MUST have faked it! Even if she was photographed with an obvious bump while wearing a bikini, she must have had a surrogate - like Beyonce! SMH.
ReplyDeleteso, i just saw some other pictures of the VS show on another site. of all the men they could have had sing there, WHY did they choose a teen? he's barely legal. and some of the models legs look like bones covered in skin. this does not seem like it was "sexy" at all. more creepy.

I was lucky enough to attend the earlier show! Bruno Mars also performed and he was AMAZING. He made Rihanna and Justin look amateur.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Justin was wearing a white studded lady vest. Don't his people realize that poor sartorial decisions like this one only fuel the lesbian comparisons? Anywho, he wore a lady vest and white drop crotch pants, rapped awkwardly during his first number ("As Long As You Love Me," accompanied by a lone guitarist who looked like the brother in Don"t Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead before he cuts his hair), and almost knocked over one of the risers during the PINK number. It was all so unfortunate.

ReplyDelete@Jamie 2 . yes, that is my experience also. I work in an engineering company, so its 1 girl / 20 guys. when they talk about the girls they fancy I find it surprising. There are a couple of human resources blonde skinny girls, almost all dont find them attractive. Most guys (or my colleagues at least) are more into 'girl next door' with a normal body, rather than the 'goddess' type.
