Puck From Real World Goes To Jail

I'm sure there are many of you who have never heard of Puck from The Real World. You see, back in the day, before Real World and Road Rules became all about supporting a group of 30-40 people by playing games in resorts for money, Real World was actually the first reality show. Yep, you can thank Real World for Keeping Up With The Kardashians in a very round about way. Puck was on Real World San Francisco. Back then, people actually watched Real World and that particular season was all about social issues and people living in the house with a man who was HIV+ at a time when being HIV+ was a death sentence. Puck was the second person kicked out of a Real World house and somehow has managed to stay in the news ever since, usually by being arrested. Puck turned himself into a California prison a couple of weeks ago to serve his sentence for stalking a woman which he had pleaded no contest back to earlier in the year.

  2. The dude is married with two kids, why is he stalking another woman?

This just proves that we have almost 20 more years of Kimberly to endure. YEESH

  3. The first 3 Real World's were awesome...I kind of stopped watching after San Francisco. People forget that when this show started, it was kind of revolutionary television. I loved that show!

Stalking a woman? Wasn't there a blind about him having a boyfriend on the side, but he was actually married to a woman? Hmm. Also, it's Puck we're talking. The original ass hat. The original douche bag that was a jerk to poor hiv+ Pedro. Does anybody remember that? Him just picking on him and belittling him when he was dieing? I remember him being cruel, hateful, hurtful, mean, obnoxious and rude just to do it. Just to get a reaction out of people. He's worse then Spencer and Heidi, worse than that guy from survivor who said his grandma died, worse than gary busey. Puck's the original jerk. Him and Lohan should get together, that would be awesome catfights. Look at how happy he is for attention in that picture. And look he's even holding the John mayer douche prop extraordinaire of: I'm a sensitive musician ladies, I play guitar, gather around me on the quad and lay on the grass listening to me strumming the guitar wistfully, singing about how your body is a wonderland.

  6. I would argue that the first reality show was "An American Family" on PBS in 1973. There was nothing quite like it on TV prior to the Loud family. It really paved the way for shows that made reality entertainment.

    Puck...ever the asshole.

  7. I remember watching "Real World". Puck was repulsive in every way possible. He was horrible to Pedro and everyone. Whenever I see him, I think of "booger butter", and I hate him for that.

  8. I remember that blind that was supposedly Puck. He was really the only one who fit well. I loved that season of Real World, though. Just re-watched them recently. Takes me back to being a young 20-something. Puck is gross, though (but I thought he was kind of cute back then, I have to admit, reluctantly). Horrible to Pedro, though. :(

  9. @carmelite ok, Puck Rainey was/is an asshat. You dishonor Pedro Zamora's memory by making him sound like a victim, for God's sake, as if he was a f***ing doormat, which he certainly was not. He stood up to that little sh*t. And he wasn't actually on his death bed at the time of filming, but he contracted carinii pneumonia toward the end of filming and was gone soon after. Don't make Pedro an object of pity. He didn't want that & fought hard to make his life & passing about much more than that.

  10. I've seen it argued that the PBS show in 1973 was the first reality show -- maybe as a standalone. But it can't be argued that it launched the reality show craze, because that happened 20 years later, and that's in no way shape or form related to that single show. (The 1973 PBS show was so far in the past it was even before my time but it looks like it was more a documentary, anyhow, which probably was the case with PBS and really isn't what the reality shows of the past 15 years or so are.)

  11. Similarly, I just saw Kato Kaelin say Larry King once called him the first reality show star. That's also not true (and the O.J. trial was a good 20 years after the PBS show). Kato Kaelin may have had a show at some point (I'd be shocked if he didn't) but the whole O.J. Simpson trial wasn't a reality show, it actually was ... real. That damn year-long thing was trial coverage in real time. And it did give us the Kardashian whose children haunt us now. But Kato Kaelin wasn't the predecessor of Kim Kardashian and those kinds of reality shows.

  12. @tracy, he was a victim to Puck's harassment. She didn't make him out to be a doormat either. Also, Pedro was dying essentially. The drugs given for HIV back then were nowhere near where they are now.

  13. Wow, it seems like that season of the Real World wasn't that long ago. I remember watching it with friends and being thoroughly grossed out by Puck and his snot rockets.

A friend of mine got married right around the time the show ended, and we were talking about it at the reception. My mom, who was there and also watched the show took me aside and told me she'd seen on MTV News that Pedro had died. I remember feeling so sad.

I just checked Wiki, and that was 1994!!! Reality TV & Puck are like cockroaches after nuclear war-they just keep going...

  14. Maja with a J - That is so true! The shows back then were great.
    Ahhh to be 20=something again...

  16. haahaha @Ingrid you beat me to it!

Puck was the original reality villian all those that have followed him should thank him for taking reality tv in a craptacular different direction.

  17. The people who comment on this website "decided" that Puck was the answer to the gay blind.

There may or may not be a big difference between the "facts" on this website and actual reality.

I asked Evel Dick (his friend) about it on Twitter and Dick said his ex-wife had the restraining order and Puck just wanted to see his kids.

  18. For me, Real World started going really bad around Chicago when they had cameras in the bedrooms so they could film them having sex. Las Vegas was when I stopped watching.
I think Puck was maybe one of the first reality show villains - because they need some drama - something to film besides people sitting around watching tv. I think I read somewhere that on the first Real World New York, they told Kevin to fight with Julie and say she was a racist for that reason.
I want to believe that they didn't tell Puck to provoke Pedro, that he did it on his own - because Pedro was in precarious health and I'm sure stress was harmful to him.

  19. An Anerican Family was edgy revolutionary stuff at the time. I can't remember, did Lance Loud come out during the show?

  20. I didn't know Booger Nose had a lazy eye. Looks like he's been living hard.

  21. Btw, is it just me or if you spliced genes from Harry Connick Jr and Clare Danes and immediately produced a clone...or photoshopped one, wouldn't Puck be the result??

  24. I tried out for this installment of Real World! Yep, I was just coming back to my home town and tried out. I was too "normal" for them. This was the last Real World I watched too.

I agree with Amy. The Loud family was on PBS in 1973 and more of a documentary. The MTV Real Worlds started the current reality television with a push from Survivor.

I believe Puck was encouraged to be an a$$ by the producers. Mohammed was never in the show and neither was Pam.

  25. On a trivia note, the house that the SF cast lived in nearly burned down totally and doesn't resemble the 1994 house.

  26. Cool - Judd and Pam are still together! That's sweet.

  28. I loved that season. I loved crazy Rachel's crazy bug eyes and her young Republican meetings. Didn't she bring Puck to one of their conferences or something? That season was even better than "it wasn't not funny" (LA).
