Penn Jillette Says Celebrity Apprentice Is Fake
In his new book, magician Penn Jillette, who has been on Celebrity Apprentice twice says the show is fake and there are no rules and that Donald Trump decides the rules as he goes on and that the more you suck up to him, the more likely you are to go further in the game. Penn is on the All-Stars edition, or he was actually. He suddenly was fired when news of his book's revelations started to leak. He also said that the boardroom scenes which only air a few minutes each episode take hours and hours to film because Donald loves listening to himself talk and thinks that everyone should also enjoy listening to him talk. The talking has nothing to do with the show or who is going to get fired which really only does take a few minutes. Penn says he spent 22 hours in the span of 6 weeks listening to Donald's speeches.
SHOCKING !
ReplyDeleteCan I add Trump to my Grown up Christmas list?
ReplyDeleteWait....you're telling me it's rigged? Next thing you'll tell me that 'The Bachelorette' is fake.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the stupid cow knows what this is doing to her reputation?
ReplyDeleteMost sites that i visit, even places like EW & E! most people comment that they can't stand her anymore.
AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteNot shocking, but I love Trump getting called out---He never shuts up, and makes a good fight. And Penn Gillette will not be intimidated (I think he's smart enough not to slander & get sued that is).
I've ONLY seen about 12 seconds of collected "You're Fired"s from Trump's show, and I knew it was all about him & who he chooses. Just like he hand-picks the damned Miss USA.
I knew before Clay Aiken went on that show that 'a geh' would never win Trump's show; Trump is just that small.
dee, were you talking about Halle? ITA. But wrong thread, I think.
ReplyDeleteThat is why that fricken Aubrey O'frickenDay and house wife Teresa Giudice lasted so long.
ReplyDeleteI love Penn but this really isn't breaking news. Still, piling on the stank-filled cultural corpse of Donald Trump is always something I can get behind.
ReplyDeleteSorry but Penn is a complete tool. Of course it's rigged. Duh!!! Maybe he should go back to picking stupid and humiliating names for his kids...
ReplyDeleteIf Gillette was stupid enough to go on Trump's show in the first place, I don't feel sorry for him. As for the show, anyone who finds "Celebrity Apprentice" entertaining would probably also enjoy dog-fighting, bear-baiting, or full-on gladiatorial fights to the death entertaining.
ReplyDeleteHe and Carolla talked about this on Adam's podcast which is listened to by millions. His book will sell 100K at most and that is what will got him fired?
ReplyDeleteI bitch about reality TV all the time, but I'll admit to watching Celebrity Apprentice. I don't know what the attraction is, but I love it. *hangs head in shame*
ReplyDeleteAlso, I really wanted to punch Aubrey O'Day in the face every time she was on camera.
And no, I don't enjoy dog fighting, or anything like it.
ReplyDeleteIn other news, water is wet. LOL I watched the very first Apprentice - BC (before "celebrities"). It was obvious even then that it was totally fixed, and since I hate Trump anyway I've never looked back.
ReplyDeleteHe's been on the show TWICE? Well, if its so bad, why keep going back? Does he need the money that badly?
ReplyDeleteTrump! He's a joke. I like Gillette calling him out. And i read it- it really isnt so terrible what he said about trump and certainly no surprise he loves to hear himself talk.
ReplyDeleteNews flash: Donald Trump is fake too!
ReplyDeleteWell, D'uh.
ReplyDeleteAnd in other news, Trump's lush head of hair is actually a comb-over.
"Sorry but Penn is a complete tool."
ReplyDeletePenn is a cool guy. Parties with some friends of mine on occasion. He is also, like Jim Randi, a ruthless exposer of charlatans, so him calling out Trump on his bull was inevitable.
Assuming that Penn must be broke or stupid to go on the show just means you know nothing about the man. He has zero *need* to work for Trump, but probably enjoyed the lark. If you have enough money, flexibility in scheduling and enjoy poking self-impressed people with metaphorical sticks to watch them implode? What better place?
ReplyDeleteAs B. Profane said, he's a guy who calls people out (see his own television series with Teller for reference) but that doesn't mean he isn't allowed to have fun toying with the mice first, right?
I don't believe any "reality" show is real. I'm down to Project Runway and I'm not so sure about the validity of that show, either.
ReplyDeleteThe Penn Gillette episode of Bull***t where he exposed the collusion between female athletic administrators running the Title 9 sports universe & a Texas company that owns every cheerleader camp/competition/supply store in America to keep cheerleading from being classified as a sport was brilliant. Making cheer a sport would allow national school sports safely laws, etc designed to protect the health of student athletes apply to cheer. Crippling injuries in cheer happen all the time and there's no regulation or even reporting because the keepers of Title 9 don't want to let cheer in the athletic departments.
ReplyDeleteIt's on YouTube in 2 parts if anybody is interested:
ReplyDeletePart 1
Part 2
Every single reality show is a fake.
ReplyDeleteThe ones where someone is voted out are totally fixed from Day One & the rest are scripted from start to finish!
i doubt he's looking for our sympathy. i love that he called Blowhard out.
ReplyDeleteI watched the show once, and I found the humiliation that people go through to be almost physically painful...
ReplyDeletePenn wrote a great article in salon about the show and him admitting why he did the show and his thoughts on it. (he is no fan of Clay).
ReplyDeleteThe show is just about watching faux celebrities have mental breakdowns, who wins or loses doesn't matter in the long run. They can't even do a straight version of the show anymore becuase people actually tried to work and earn a job and the ratings tanked.

When "celebrities" (obviously, it depends on your definition, kind of like DWTS) sign up for Celebrity Apprentice, they do make money for a specific charity. I, too, watch Celebrity Apprentice; not some of my finer moments, but hey, we're all human.
ReplyDeleteAnd Trump is a douche.
Sad thing is Trump's show being fake is nowhere near the worst thing he's done. My personal "favorite" was when he borrowed money from Deutsche Bank, then sued them when it was time to pay it back.

Gross.
