Old Hollywood Blind Item - Who Killed Her?

This actress was never a huge star even back at the peak of her career. She probably reached B list at one point at her career. It was all movies all the time. She struggled to find her way in US films, and made her biggest films outside the US. This did not stop her from being one of Warren Beatty's conquests while she was married. Not that she was immune to having affairs. She had a baby with a man who she later married but he was still married at the time she got pregnant and kept the news from the child until he was a teen. She said that she was abused in every relationship she was ever in. She had another baby that died shortly after child birth that she told everyone was her husband's but was actually the product of an affair, but not another affair. Yes, she was having several affairs simultaneously. She made a lot of money which one of her husbands stole from her leaving her penniless at her death which was called a suicide, but never officially ruled as one. Some people say she was murdered by her abusive husband who stole all her money then ran away. Others say she was murdered by the government.

  1. No idea, but interestingly, this blind fits my great aunt to a T, but her story happened too early for Warren Beatty.

  5. Beatty bedded 12,775 broads per Vanity Fair.
Probably not a good starting point.

  16. Seberg also had an affair with Clint Eastwood while filming Paint Your Wagon, she had the most delicate beauty...
She was also in the original French film Breathless...

  17. Damn, you guys are good! *L*

  18. Good job SusanB.

I always liked Jean. She's from my home state of Iowa. She was very pretty in "Airport." I have to watch the Criterion of "Breathless" now.

  19. Jean Seberg was my one and only guess, so was glad to see the same guesses in the comments.

  20. Jean Seberg, a beautiful blonde actress whose cause of death was classified as a "probable suicide" due to a barbiturate overdose even though many suspect she was murdered by the government. Sound familiar? Does anyone find the similarities quite frightening?

  21. Via Wikipedia:
    "Jean Seberg... should be neutralized"

In 1970, the FBI created the false story[24] from a San Francisco-based informant, that the child she was carrying was not fathered by her husband Romain Gary, but by a member of the Black Panther Party, Raymond Hewitt.[25] The story was reported by gossip columnist Joyce Haber of the Los Angeles Times.[26] It was also printed by Newsweek magazine.[27] She gave birth to a girl named Nina on August 23, 1970 in Geneva, but the infant died two days later.[28] She held an open casket funeral in her hometown to allow the curious to see the infant's white skin, to disprove the rumors.[29] FBI organization of the defamation is detailed in a series of FBI memos, released to the public under FOIA.

  22. Wow..excellent work!

  23. Tru Leigh, the idea that a woman would have to have an open-casket funeral for her 2-day old dead baby, just to satisfy gossipy racists---sickening. Poor lady.

Is this really blind? This is basically a summary of JS's wiki...

I'm a big fan. She was truly awesome.

  25. Yeah, Jean Seberg. Why blind? These blinds have been so dumb lately. Do you not know everybody reads all the same things you are reading "Enty?"

  26. Why would the govt kill her? Poor Jean. Loved her in Breathless.

  27. i remember all the guesses, but i must've been asleep when romy schneider died. that's a sad story too.

    ReplyDelete
  28. So sad. I never knew anything about Jean aside that she was more popular outside the US.

Breathless is my favorite movie of all time as you might guess by my avatar. Her clothes in that movie are awesome. I still want to find a New York Herald Tribune tee.

  29. "Why would the govt kill her?"

Her involvement with the Black Panthers. Lots of detail on her Wiki page; check it out.

  30. Snapdragon - yesterday was my birthday as well. Hope you had a good one!

    ~off to read about Seberg~

  31. I don't understand why is this a blind? if you go to Wiki it says Jean lost a baby, had connections to the government, and made foreign films.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Jean Seberg was my first thought.

  33. Love the old hollywood blinds.

  34. The answer to tomorrow's old Hollywood Blind should be :

    Tony Richardson

There would be a lot to work with to make this a stunning blind.

  35. YES!!!! i emailed enty asking for an old hollywood blind a couple of days ago! not the best of blinds but i'm happy :) haha.

  37. Jean Seberg, no doubt about it.

  38. I was thinking Louise Brooks until he mentioned Warren Beatty. She was never a big star in the U.S., made her best films in Germany and is far more famous now than she was in her day. This is a juicy (and sad) blind, but I have no idea! Lots of clues, though, so it's probably possible to research a bit and figure it out.

  39. Margeaux Hemingway???

    ReplyDelete
  40. Yay mention of Louise Brooks!

"She acquired dependency on Valium which she would regret. She believed masturbation was “the highest form of art” and the medication had caused a desensitization. She began a letter writing campaign to members of Congress to structure a law to prohibit it’s sale and usage."

  43. So @seaward, who was your aunt?

  44. Note to self to read the comments before hazarding a guess. This seems clearly to refer to Jean Seberg.
