No More Dirty Jobs

Apparently Mike Rowe has worked every dirty job known to man because the show is ending. Earlier this week Discovery announced that American Chopper was ending after a decade and now Dirty Jobs is gone after 8 years. Discovery plans on focusing on things that matter to Americans like toddler pageants, interventions and theorizing that Caylee Anthony was killed by aliens. "A few weeks ago, I was officially informed that Dirty Jobs had entered into a new phase." Mike wrote. "One I like to call, 'permanent hiatus.' Or in the more popular industry vernacular, canceled. 'Dirty Jobs' is a very personal show, and it's difficult for me to imagine a future that does not involve exploding toilets, venomous snakes, misadventures in animal husbandry and feces from every species."

Mike will be missed, but I suppose he will still have his Ford commercials and if things get really rough, he can always head back to QVC.

  3. Wonder if he is going to finally come back to San Francisco. He has an apartment here and allegedly a girlfriend no one sees.

  7. The monkey episode, where some of the crew got attacked, was the best. I will miss this show. Happy Thanksgiving all! If you don't celebrate, or if you aren't in the states, then just have an awesome day!

  13. I think Discovery will put him in new shows. He is a popular brand and they aren't going to let that fish go.

  14. Mike Rowe is totally hot. My husband and I used to laugh when there was a cute girl on one of the shows and say, bet he's banging her as soon as they wrap for the day.

  15. Oh I'm going to miss Mike Rowe's sexy ass. You've got to watch the YouTube video of Mike Rowe selling figurines on QVC. It's hilarious! I can stop laughing every time I see it. Mike looks like he wants to crack up himself.

  18. Discovery would have to be total idiots not to keep him! I hope he doesn't move to really late night TV cause kids really love him.

I hope he doesn't retire. There are so many idiots that shouldn't be on TV, but he was made for it and it for him...

  19. @momster
Rowe lives in San Francisco. He used to host a local program here called Evening Magazine. Rumor has it he did not get along with his co-host who never hit it as big as him. There's supposed to be a phantom girlfriend, which is what I was alluding to in my original post.

  21. Oh nooo! Love that sexy man--if his show ran out of dirty jobs and they just filmed him walking around cracking jokes & singing, I'd still DVR the sh*t out of it. Hope he gets another show!!!

  22. I love Mike Rowe, and I am going to miss the show. @Henriette - according to Mike, he lives in San Francisco, has had a long time live-in girlfriend (over 10 years) whom he has never married. I am pretty sure she is not in the business. And I don't know about him not getting along with his Evening Magazine co-host. He made a brief appearance on one of her subsequent programs. Anyway - after all Mike's been through, I hope he takes a six month vacation!
