Girl Meets World Is A Go - For A Pilot
Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel have signed on the dotted lines so Cory & Topanga are back. At least for a pilot. Earlier in the month I told you that there was the strong probability of a Boy Meets World sequel which would follow the daughter of Cory & Topanga. Lets face it though, everyone is going to be watching to see Cory & Topanga and not anyone else. It turns out that if you get one really great role you don't have to do anything else but wait for that role to come back or keep going. It is kind of like the band that gets to play a lifetime of shows off one album.
Always had a HUGE crush on Topanga (Danielle Fishel). Glad this show is getting the green light.
ReplyDeleteI always had a crush on Cory ;) & I wanted to BE Topanga...Bring Back RIDER STRONG!!!! =) I'm geeked!
ReplyDeleteI'm not familiar with this show. The chick on the right is freaking me out a little!
ReplyDeleteMaybe she wants to be the next coke mom, she certainly looks like it. And poor Ben looks like he's had a stroke :/
DeleteBring back Mr. Feeny! I'm so curious about who would play the daughter.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited about this I want to do a little dance. I LOVED Boy Meets World back in the day. I had a crush on Rider Strong.
ReplyDeleteIf there's no Will Friedle and no Rider Strong, the show will be awful, IMO.
ReplyDeleteLet me rephrase that... it will be MORE awful than anticipated if there is no Will or Rider.
I totally agree, rider was smokin hot!
Deletewhat did she have done? from the looks of this photo, some work around the eyes...
ReplyDeletetopanga, you were so prettyyyy. :\
@LottaColada - I read that the casting call was looking for all ethnicities, so it's possible that their daughter could be adopted (which is actually kind of a relief, since her age would require Topanga to have been pregnant before BMW ended).
ReplyDeleteThey should bring back Minkus--if Cory is supposed to be a history teacher, Minkus could be the principal.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'd love for Mr. Feeny to be back. I adore William Daniels.
I agree that if Will and Rider don't return as well, this show will be even more awful.
ReplyDeleteHer picture scares me.
ReplyDeleteGood grief, y'all make me feel old - I was a grown up when this show aired, and never watched it!
ReplyDelete@Cathy that's actually pretty cool! Thanks for the info :)
ReplyDeletealso -- i can see she has studs as her second earrings, but why is she wearing only one long earring...?? 0.0
ReplyDeleteI'm actually kind of excited about this!
ReplyDeleteHa ha, Frufra, I'm with you. My brother -- who is nine years younger than I am -- will be so happy. ;-)
ReplyDeleteSorry, but Fred is way better looking than Ben, too.
lol@Frufra...same here. But that woman is freaking me out and am glad others are saying the same thing.
ReplyDeleteGood for them. I agree Ent, it's looking more and more like entertainers have to realise that a check is a check. Hey that's what we've all had to do in the real world? A role is a role, and if a character is beloved and the actor doesn't have anything else going on why the hell not? Good for these kids, it's always sooooo sad when a succesful show ends. You can just see the supporting actors crying about the loss of their careers/jobs. Everybody loves Raymond anyone? Friends? Cheers? Seinfeld? Have any of the supporting cast gone on to be as successful? One or two of the main stars, but not the other folks. We all need to work and make a living.
ReplyDeleteDoes anybody remember that early on in the series, Topanga was a comic character, the spacey, New-Age daughter of wacky hippie parents? Her character was used for laughs until she, uh, matured, and segued into a romantic lead ala Dwayne Wayne in A Different World.
ReplyDeleteI like this! And Ben can direct.
ReplyDelete@Robert - i always sort of saw that as a parallel to Winnie Cooper in the Wonder Years (with Ben's brother, Fred) - she started out super dorky and then blossomed into the gorgeous love interest.
ReplyDeleteI can live without Rider Strong, his story lines were always too much drama.
ReplyDeleteI love Cory and Topanga! I'll at least check it out.
ReplyDeleteRobert- yes, I will never forget the episode where she put lipstick all over her face lol. She had the BEST hair...
ReplyDeleteIm super excited for this lol, I watch Boy Meets World every morning on ABC family before I head to the office
One of my favorite episodes was from when they were in college and they flashed forward to what their lives would be like if they were no longer friends: Eric changed his name to Runs With Squirrels and lived in a forest. I can no longer separate the character from that awesome name.
ReplyDeleteNot gonna lie my dream came true!! I still watch boy meets world every morning!!!
ReplyDeleteI loved this show so I would give it a chance
ReplyDeleteOh and is Danielle Fishel trying out for the part of Michelle Bachman in a movie or something? She looks just like her in that picture! Right down to the crazy look in the eyes! Lol
ReplyDeleteSO EXCITED FOR THIS.
ReplyDeleteWithout Will Friedle and Rider Strong I have much less interest and probably won't watch.
ReplyDeleteMr. Feeny (William Daniels) is 84 but if he can be on Grey's Anatomy, he surely can do something here.
Funny nobody is crying out for Matthew Lawrence. Too bad.
Bet on Ben directing, because he's quite good.
Minkus Minkus Minkus!
ReplyDeletewhat the phuck happened to Topanga's face!! change the title to girl meets botox
ReplyDelete@BobNYC - if Matthew Lawrence were on it, they could put it on ABC Family, paired up with Melissa and Joey.
ReplyDeleteDidn't Topanga host Talk Soup or a show like that a while back? She was actually kind of funny on it. I think Cory looks weird and plastic in that photo. I am also feeling old. This show was after my time but I must have watched it once or twice.
ReplyDeleteI just hope is isn't some happy, happy, joy, joy, sticky sweet, TGIF family show. Those don't last in 2012.
ReplyDeleteCan we give them a cutesy nickname like Corpangy??
ReplyDeletelol speaking of cute nicknames, I was watching the other morning and noticed that BMW started the whole 'sname smush' trend way back when, when Cory was hell bent on saving his and Shawn's relationships, he called them "Topangela" "to save time". The episode where Angelas dad comes to visit and Shawn and Angela get back together.
ReplyDeletelol random fun fact.
^^ Good random factoid!
ReplyDeleteHer face is gigantic!
ReplyDeletei hope it gets picked up. i'd tune in just to ooohhh and ahhhh over topanga's glorious hair. #wantstradesecrets
ReplyDeleteI can't tell the difference between this and the Wonder Years.
ReplyDeleteMergerz, I was just thinking about her on that show. She was actually charming, and has always had amazing hair. I work with a lot of young adults and they are crazy for this show in reruns, so I think it has a shot, but only if they bring back Eric!
ReplyDeleteshe has fallen a long way from my boy hood crush on her days :(
