David Beckham Is Leaving Los Angeles

Last year about this time David Beckham said he was going to leave Los Angeles. This time though when he said it again, it felt like he really meant it with a statement and everything. He says that after his next match with the LA Galaxy he will go elsewhere to play. This is despite the fact that he still has a year left on his contract. I think he wants to prove to himself that he can still play with the big boys of the world and do so without embarrassing himself. It could also be that Victoria Beckham wants to be somewhere closer to the fashion world. I find it hard to believe that David will not get a whole lot of grief from his kids about pulling them out of school, the warm weather and summers at the beach so he can go play one more season somewhere and not be content with what he has accomplished in his career.

  4. I'm just surprised he has the room to pick and choose where he plays; he's a hot flop at this point.

  8. Haven't scrolled down to check, but Snoop Dogg (Lion, Gerbil whatever) has expressed interest in buying into Glasgow Celtic Football Club, and the locals are abuzz Becks will consider playing here for a year if Snoop gets on the board.

Probably complete nonsense, but as much as I love VB I think it'd be hilarious for her to try to settle in Glasgow. I love my city but it's wet, old and our claim to fame is Irn Bru and Billy Connelly :p

  9. I would catch hell from my son, who's the same age as Brooklyn Beckham, if I pulled him out of his school.

Not saying I would give in to a kid's whims, just stating how he'd feel.

  10. I propose a new CDAN rule...all Beckham pictures should include Harper. You can make this up to us by putting her in the random photos.

  11. I thought the reason he chose to stay in LA last year was because of the kids and they got acclimated to the US and California.

And to the poster that said the kids will go where the parents go. I work with people who get transferred all over the place, the older kids dig in their heels and refuse to move so the breadwinner goes off and commutes from say Boston to San Jose every two weeks because the kids don't want to be taken out of school and their whole social eco system destroyed. Or will will live with friends so they don't have to move. They can be pretty difficult after a certain age.

  12. There is a rumor he's headed to Australia to play there. It seems he had a pretty good year in LA this season, so maybe he just wants to go out on top here and play one more year somewhere else, then come back to LA and still have the reputation of a winner. I'll miss the pictures of him and his boys at the Laker games.

  13. We need 'em (well, at least Harper) in SoCal.

I'm willing to be part of a human speed bump to block the Beckhams' U-Haul from leaving town.

    Who's with me?

  14. I agree - it's hard on kids to move around. After a certain age, your friends become your "family".

  15. As I was an Army Brat I would have loved to have seen my parents faces if I had told them that I didn't want to move anymore and dad could just go. They would have laughed their asses off at me and told me tough luck. I was moving often and was happy if we stayed in one place for a couple of years. In one school year I changed so many times my mom finally quit taking stuff out of boxes until they figured out which area in Germany dad would be staying at. I can say I loved my life as "home" is not some place it is your family.

  16. The kids *will* go (Lord knows I had to), but they may or may not be happy. I didn't stay in the same school for 2 years in a row after the 4th grade... I was miserable.

And my kid... remained in the same school system from K - 12. I could have made more money moving, but I would not do that to him.

  17. We moved a lot too and seriously it didn't kill me but my older sister had some issues. Kids are resiliant however and you don't kiss their ass. Commuting(sp?) from San Jose to Boston to keep the kids happy? Uhm, no. They'll adjust. Life is about change anyway. Wasn't there a blind about her moving to Paris cuz her fashion line was doing so well?

  18. you guys were all well grounded kids, the type of kids I am talking about are rich, 1% elite, entitled who can't see past their own noses, these are the complete opposite of army kids. These parents guilty about working 24/7 and want to be their best friends buckle and let them do what they want.
