Blind Item #3
This former one hit wonder from the early 90's with some weird punctuation in her name has now been reduced to working as a street hooker. Everytime she is arrested for prostitution she brings up her hit song and thinks it will get her off or that someone will be impressed.
Des'ree?
ReplyDeleteSad!!! She must be an addict too. Hope she gets help !
ReplyDeletesame guess as KLM.
ReplyDeletePity it's Des'ree . what happened to her during all these years. Happy thanksgiving Enty and all the yanks, from Europe
ReplyDeleteDamn shame. Happy thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteYep, I think KLM is right on, sadly. What a shame.
ReplyDeleteOT Happy Thanksgiving to Americans! Especially Supapimp who I'm thankful for, the happiness is bouncing off the site from you! :))
Thx you. Have a safe happy thanksgiving. :)
DeleteThe "you gotta be" lady? Really? My power anthem song?
ReplyDeleteNO! Really?
Nooo! I hope it's not Des'ree, just Googled her and not much (new) came up, though she seems pretty down to Earth in interviews. But wait, is she a one hit wonder? She had a few songs out other than Gotta Be, right?
ReplyDeleteNo! "You gotta be" was one of my anthems too!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Americans and a big thanks to all the others who make this site so damn marvelous from French Girl and the saucy folks from OZ. And we have folks from South America too right?
ReplyDeleteCan I hijack a thread and have everyone do an identification of their location? Anyone want to join in?
Belmont, CA US
Blessing and Graditude to you Sherry! Happy Thanksgiving to you too!
DeleteIndianapolis, IN here :)
ReplyDeleteCovington KY
ReplyDeleteI googled "one hit wonders from the 90's" and the other name that comes up that has "weird punctuation" is A'me Lorain (song: "Whole Wide World" from True Love). I don't remember the song, but there you go.
ReplyDelete@Maja I grew up with Amy and am fb friends with her still. It's def not her. She is doing great.
DeleteCalgary, AB, America's Hat!
ReplyDeletePhiladelphia, PA (suburban area, but close enough)..........;-)
ReplyDeleteMe too, fancy!
Delete@Erin... well howdy! (Waves)
Deletedoesn't surprise me, we....are....EVERYWHERE! LOL
;-) Happy Thanksgiving, Erin
It's not Des'Ree. She had 2 platinum albums, she has a current website and does studio work up in Canada.

ReplyDeleteAustin, TX. Happy T'day, y'all!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteDes'Ree wasn't a One Hit Wonder.
ReplyDeleteChecked out http://www.onehitwondercentral.com/90s.cfm
A'Me Lorain (Whole Wide World)
K.P.& Envyi (Swing My Way) K.P. maybe?
I don't consider either of those really popular enough to use it
Scotland UK :)
ReplyDeleteI'm in Rochester MN for the holiday but most of the time I'm posting from Dallas TX! Happy Thanksgiving, y'all!

ReplyDeleteSan Antonio, Tejas ;) happy thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteThankful it is not des'ree, and happy thanksgiving to all of you, from Alameda, CA!
ReplyDeleteSan Francisco, CA. Happy thanksgiving
DeleteRobin S. (I always found it weird that she just didn't go by Robin Stone) - "Show Me Love". Wiki says she had 3 dance hits, but digging in, it looks like they are remixes of the same song. She lives in Georgia now, and there is an online petition to convince some record company to bring her back, which sounds to me like she's hit hard times.
ReplyDeleteI believe she has a current(ish?) single for what it's worth.
DeleteSouthern West Virginia!
ReplyDeleteHappy thanksgiving all!!
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I thought Lil' Kim.
Seattle, WA also drinking my latte! :)
Wasn't there M'chele D something ...
ReplyDeleteMe'Shell Ndegéocello
ReplyDeleteWas it early 90's?
Me'Shell Ndegéocello is still recording and influential in that genre of music.
ReplyDeleteYAy guys! Keep 'em coming. Waves to Em.
ReplyDeleteWest Palm Beach, Florida here! And it's depresslingly warm.
ReplyDeleteNo guess, but representing Scandinavia from Stockholm, Sweden. :)
ReplyDeleteNo idea but also glad is not Des're.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to all from New York City! (I heard myself saying this like a beauty pageant contestant...lol)
<- brooklyn, woop woop!
DeleteCarmel California, and it's a balmy 68 or so!
ReplyDeleteSo sad that this singer has gone in this direction with her life. Can't she get regular work? The only reason for someone to turn to this profession is because they have a drug problem. It's the only way to feed a very expensive habit, she could always work as a waitress or something if she's willing to make normal people wages.
This post reminds me... I haven't noticed @nolachickee here lately... anyone know if she's okay?
ReplyDelete*waves back to Sher*
@dia: Celebrating on Saturday, quick trip down then. No time for VooDoo :(
Very cool to hear where everyone's from!
Dublin ireland, happy thanksgiving to all x
ReplyDeleteM'shelle Ndegeocello & M' chelle where two diff ppl. M'chelle had that annoying nasal voice when she spoke. Shes my guess.
ReplyDeleteShe still tours tho'. Happy thanksgiving
DeleteNot me'shelle. She and dr dre have a child together and she living pretty good off those child support checks.
DeleteMichel'le but doesn't she have kids by Dr. Dre AND Suge Knight? Would she need to hook?
ReplyDeleteThe only song that I know of by Des'ree is You gotta Be and that was released in 1994. I'm going with her for this one. I can't think of any big hits by the other weird punctuation names. Is she touring full time? Maybe hooks part-time?
ReplyDeleteHappy thanksgiving ya'll from Southern California...(Los Angeles)
ReplyDeleteNo idea but happy thanksgiving from the Northern Bay area of California!
ReplyDeleteWow Michel'le does have kids by Dre & Sug Knight! Girl gets around! Couldn't find any info on her touring still. This may or may not be her. Now I have her song stuck in my head(doo dee doo doo dee doo)
ReplyDeleteHej hej Profetissan!
ReplyDeleteT'pau
ReplyDeleteDes'ree also had that "Life, oh life. Oh, life. Doo doot doot doo" single later in the '90. And also "What's your sign" around 1998
ReplyDeleteMississauga, Ontario, Camnada
ReplyDeleteUnknown, T'Pau was my first thought as the lead singer (someone Decker?) took the name and still performs from what I can gather. Plus she must be pushing 60. Which wouldn't rule her out, but ewwwwwww.
ReplyDeleteI've never posted, but have lurked for about 2 years. Happy thanksgiving from Bellingham, Washington!
ReplyDeleteDublin Ireland also! Happy thanksgiving to all in the US!
