Blind Item #1
This actress was almost A list way back in the day. In the not too distant past she was on a show for multiple seasons. A great show. A huge hit cable show. Everyone will always love her for one very important role with an A++ list actor. Anyway, she has not been doing much the last couple of years that would make her swamped with offers from fans, but at a restaurant the other day several fans approached her while she was waiting for a car to pick her up. They all wanted to say hi or have their photo taken with her and the first few just got a curt, "No." After that though she started getting increasingly angry that people were bothering her and at one pointed shouted, "I'm way too busy to be talking to you right now. Get a life." She then continued doing nothing and just waiting for a car which eventually arrived.

ReplyDeleteKatey segal ?
ReplyDeleteJuliana was on a cable show?
ReplyDeleteEd O'Neill A++ list actor?

ReplyDeleteEdie Falco, maybe, although I hear Toni Collette is not as pleasant in real life as one might expect.
ReplyDelete"Everyone will always love her for one very important role with an A++ list actor." This is probably a huge clue, but I got nothin'.....
ReplyDeleteJennifer Grey
ReplyDeleteDirty Dancing with Patrick Swayze of course, and Dancing with the Stars for the recent show.
ReplyDeleteWoops, wrong. Just saw 'multiple Seasons'...
ReplyDeleteIs Swayze A++ list?
ReplyDeleteEdie Falco and Katy Segal are both on hit shows right now (Nurse Jackie and SoA respectively)
Glenn Close with Damages as the recent huge hit show?
ReplyDeleteThe way the industry works, there are literally hundreds of "almost A+" actresses who once had a role with one of the twenty or so A-list male stars who get teamed up with actresses half their age for the blockbuster of the week. I'm not seeing lots of clues here either.
ReplyDeleteWhat 'cable' show was Jennifer Grey on? And I don't think Enty is referring to an actual role with an A++ list actor, but an off screen 'role'. Girlfriend, affair, fight, something more sinister.... ;)
ReplyDeleteWhoever she is...what a bitch.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I got nothing, but maybe she just wanted to be alone with her thoughts, sometimes I've a moody bitch too. Hopefully I wouldn't be rude.
ReplyDeleteCould it be someone from Sex and the City?
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of those girls but none of them stand out in roles that were with A++ actors..
DeleteJuliana Margulies: ER was not cable and she's on The Good Wife now.
ReplyDeleteKaty Segal: Married with Children was not cable and she's on Sons now although I think it's ending soon.
Edie Flaco: I wish but James Gandolfini is not A++ and she's on Nurse Jackie now.
Jennifer Grey: she was only on one season of Dancing with the Stars so that's a no as well.
Toni Collete could be.. She was in United States of Tara which was a few seasons long but I have no idea what role she played with an A++ actor...
Bruce Willis? Sixth Sense
DeleteYES!!!!!! That was an "important role" that she played.
DeleteBetty White - Almost A
ReplyDeleteBill Pullman - A++
Important Movie - Lake Placid
seriously, some people do not even consider the clues or the situations of the people they guess about.
ReplyDeletejulianna margulies is on the good wife, which is considered one of the best dramas on television. she is the star. she has won an emmy and a golden globe. so, does not fit the clue: "she has not been doing much the last couple of years."
your welcome.
*you're
DeleteYou're welcome.
It must be a pain when strangers think they have the right to walk up to you and demand a photo of you and them. If you're on a red carpet, you're fair game, but I think actors should be free to enjoy lunch w/o being hassled.
ReplyDeletei totally agree, it's like they're the public's property
DeleteMy first thought was Cybil Sheppard from Moonlighting - not sure you can call Bruce Willis A++ though. She was on Boston Legal back when it was on, and I don't think she's doing much now (to lazy to Google).
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't say that the hit cable show starred the A++ actor..
ReplyDeleteLets think of some hit cable shows from a little while ago...
Sex and the City
Six Feet Under
The Sopranos
The Tudors
Weeds
I can't think of anymore...
Jeanne Tripplehorn "The Firm"
ReplyDeleteThe only A++ actor who co-starred with her is Kevin Costner and I wouldn't consider Waterworld a memorable movie lol
DeleteAlso, she is on one of the CSI's or NCIS currently.
I love waterworld!! Its inane, silly unbelievable- all the musts for great bad movie!!
DeleteCABLE SHOW!! She was on a cable show!! Very few of the actresses mentioned were on a HIT CABLE SHOW. Edie Falco is probably the best guess so far, but what about her daughter from the show? Can't remember her name.
ReplyDeleteI thought of Lorraine Bracco, because she was in Goodfellas with Robert DeNiro and the Sopranos, but I guess she's doing a show right now.
ReplyDeleteWhoever it is, I agree that they could have just been having a bad day.
@annabella, there are ways to say things without coming across as rude and arrogant. I am mostly a lurker here but enjoy how nice everyone is to each other till something like this is posted. And by the way, it's "you're" welcome.
ReplyDeleteNeed a "Like' button for this comment
DeleteCybil is an interesting guess. Rumored to be a bitch. In Enty's system, Bruce could be A++ But that's an old show show, decades old.
ReplyDeleteJust throwing this out there, but I read the following line to mean she acted as a beard for an A + + actor. Re-reading the blind, I'm surprised that's the first thing that came into my head, but maybe ??
ReplyDelete"Everyone will always love her for one very important role with an A++ list actor."
Caitlin:
ReplyDeleteTom Cruise ("The Firm" w/Jeanne Tripplehorn) isn't A++ but Kevin Costner is?
Now, I don't think this is her: Ms. Tripplehorn is currently co-starring on "Criminal Minds."
Oh I've never seen that movie..
DeleteHmm it could work but she is doing a show currently.
Sorry, but if you make the choice to become an actor, part of the unwritten deal is that you are always in the public eye when you go out, and people will (hopefully) always "bother" you. If no one bothers you, then it's a pretty safe bet that you aren't as famous or employable as you would like to be. Unpleasant at times? Undoubtedly. But if you don't like the attention, you can always quit working in a profession that hopefully makes people recognize you on the street and go work at Walmart instead. The big movie stars of yesteryear understood this and played right along, which is partly why they were such big stars with careers that lasted for decades. They knew that in public they always had to be presentable and approachable, or risk alienating fans and hurting their careers. And BTW, I seriously doubt that this was Betty White. I have seen her a number of times in Beverly Hills at 7:00 a.m. and she was always smiling.
ReplyDelete@JoeInLA - I was joking. As much as I love Bill Pullman and Lake Placid, even I can admit that's not a groundbreaking role. (Though she delivers one of my favorite Betty White lines ever - "If I had a dick, this is where I'd tell you to suck it!")
ReplyDeleteLeviathan...good point. I was just thinking of her cuz she was on "Big Love" and he says "Everyone will always love her..." right after mentioning the "huge" hit cable show. I know he suppossedly doesn't use words per se but that one popped out at me.
ReplyDeleteSome cable channels:
ReplyDeleteHBO
showtime
But also:
AMC
TBS
TNT
A&E
Bravo
USA
Spike
Syfy
There are others but those have original programming.
Starz also has original programming...
Delete@JoeInLA, I agree with you, overall. But on the other hand, I feel sorry for actors...imagine have a reaaaalllly shitty day, say you're feeling fat and you have have your period and have cramps and you just had a fight with your significant other and along come some fans wanting you to smile for their picture. I mean, it would just be hard sometimes!
ReplyDelete...which is why I don't envy celebs their fame at ALL...
Buffy? She hasn't been doing anything for years and she was EVERYWHERE during that show. SHe will always be Buffy to everyone, but she comes off as a biatch.
ReplyDeleteI feel like this is kim catrell but the A++ clue doesnt fit.
ReplyDeleteStockard Channing? In Grease with John Travolta as the A++ actor and on the West Wing as multiple season show.
ReplyDeleteow wait, the A+++ actor isn't right, nevermind -.-
ReplyDeleteThe way it's written makes it kind of hard to tell if the very important role with the A+++ actor was on the huge hit cable show or in a movie that almost made her A list.
ReplyDeleteThe way it's written makes it kind of hard to tell if the very important role with the A+++ actor was on the huge hit cable show or in a movie that almost made her A list.
ReplyDelete@Vk: or it was a role in the sense of being a beard for him (lets make it even more complicated xD)
ReplyDeleteVery true. He doesn't necessarily say it was an acting role now does he??
Delete@jane3113
ReplyDeleteClearly you are forgetting Kim's poignant role in Mannequin with Mr. Andrew McCarthy and Meshach Taylor ;) I love that 80's cheese!
@Sunny, Kim Catrell will always be Mannequin to me! Despite the years of Sex in the City.
DeleteToni Collette is a good guess. United States of Tara is a fabulous show (but I'm not sure it would be considered a hit) and she was in the Sixth Sense with Bruce Willis who I am pretty sure is A+... U hope its not her though because she is an amazing actress. LOVED US of Tara!
ReplyDeleteI agree that it's Jeanne Tripplehorn, with her iconic role being Basic Instinct with Michael Douglas? I know my male college roommates loooooved that coucjscene many times over.
ReplyDeleteCouch scene, even.
Delete@Rins
DeleteI thought you were goin for cooch scene!
@Sunny, nice. :)
Deletelol...I thought the same thing Sunny...too funny ;)
ReplyDeleteHow about Elizabeth Perkins? On Weeds for several seasons and starred with Tom Hanks in Big.
ReplyDeleteI know she's been ruled out anyway, but Katy Segal has been doing Futurama for a long time too, which is huge in the fanboy universe, so not exactly lacking in fans
ReplyDeleteSara Jessica Parker
ReplyDeleteElizabeth Perkins! Great guess! I'm sold and switching from JT.
ReplyDeleteWhat about Joey Lauren Adams? She was on United States of Tara and in Chasing Amy with Ben Affleck.
ReplyDeleteBen is the man this year so he could be A++. But, The main problem though is I wouldn't call the US of Tara a huge cable hit.
Does anyone see shades of Faye Dunaway? I don't know if she fits, but I can see her doing this.
ReplyDeleteElizabeth Perkins is a great guess! I will forever call her Faye 2 from now on.
ReplyDeleteOk this is my guess- I thougt of Jennifer Anniston
ReplyDeleteFriends
Role with A++ actor- as brad Pitts wife.
I was thinking Jennifer Grey as well.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'm reading this wrong, but doesn't it say she was on a very hit CABLE show?! And I agree with @sunny, the A++ actor was probably an off screen thing. Relationship, beard, affair, whatever.
ReplyDeleteWhy is everyone guessing people who are not on cable shows?!?!
How about Jessica Lange? This sounds like her. She's been on American Horror Story on FX. The important role with A++ actor could be "Tootsie" with Dustin Hoffman.
ReplyDeletewhat huge hit cable show was Jennifer Grey on?
ReplyDeleteWhat about Kelly McGillis?? She was on the L Word and the whole Top Gun thing...
ReplyDeleteminnie driver seems like a contender. the riches may not have been a hit, but everything else fits to a T. not seeing many other truly "almost A" names thrown out here. minnie was supposed to be the next big thing after good will hunting.
ReplyDeleteTotally Elizabeth Perkins! Weeds is an awesome show, but she's not on anymore. And Big is an ICONIC movie, and Tom Hanks is no doubt A++. There are very few A++ actors out there to choose from...
ReplyDeleteWhat about Laurie Metcalf (Aunt Jackie on Roseanne)? I don't think she was anywhere near almost A list, but it was a huge hit show. The A+++ actor her character had a relationship with is George Clooney. I know she is on The Big Bang Theory sometimes, but is she doing anything else?
ReplyDeleteI really don't know what is defined as cable in the USA, sorry.
ReplyDeleteNot Jennifer Grey. She was not on a huge hit cable show, let alone a huge hit show. And sorry, Broderick is so NOT A++.
ReplyDeleteNot Minnie Driver. Most people have never even HEARD of The Riches.
Not Jessica Lange. The huge hit cable show was "in the not so distant past," ie it's not on anymore. AHS is still on the air.
Not Jennifer Aniston or Stockard Channing. Friends and West Wing were both network.
(Hope that helps.)
Rather, Jessica Lange is still on AHS, not that it's just still on the air.
ReplyDeleteTara , great guess you had with Elizabeth Perkins ....
ReplyDeleteStockard Channing's role in Big was very important? Huh.
ReplyDeleteI like the Kelly McGillis guess.
ReplyDeleteWhomever it is, they need to learn some manners.
ReplyDelete@ Amber - THANK YOU for saying you were joking. I was thinking, "Bill Pullman A++? WTF???"
ReplyDeleteI second Lorraine Bracco, The Sopranos for the show, Goodfellas with DeNiro for the signature role. It doesn't say they haven't work recently, just that they haven't done anything to maintain a high profile. I really can't think of too many cable shows that would be considered huge hits - The Sopranos, SATC, and Monk are about it. Other shows may have been good, but huge hits?
ReplyDeleteI like the Cybill Shepherd guess.
ReplyDeleteAccording to IMDB, she was on both "Psych" and "The L Word" (both cable) for multiple seasons, and like kriss_t says, "one very important role with an A++ list actor" is Bruce Willis.
Elizabeth Perkins: Big, Weeds;
ReplyDeleteTom Hanks, A++, Big.
Lorraine Brocco was also in Medicine Man, right? I love that movie. Anyway the role of course would be Goodfellas but she's still on TV in a starring role on Rizzoli & Isles.
ReplyDeleteJust for the hell of it - how about Beverly D'Angelo? Old enough for a "back in the day" reference (although I'm not sure if she ever got near A list). Not too distant past cable show: Entourage. Everyone loves her for her Ellen Griswold role with A++ Chevy Chase. IMDB shows some recent movies in post-production, but nothing that would keep her front and center in the public eye.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI like the Beverly D'Angelo guess.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Elizabeth Perkins was beloved for BIG, but I can see it for Beverly.
I like the Glenn Close guess, But here's one to consider & it fits.
ReplyDeleteHolly Hunter.
Brunette woman in her late 40's who was on Mad Men and also in a movie with Brad Pitt in the 80's or 90's (The one about fishing or a river)
ReplyDeleteYes, am stumped about the always beloved part, does it really fit E.Perkins in Big...
ReplyDeleteIt does fit Beverly D'Angelo though. Would Enty refer to Chevy Chase as A++ actor? He was for a few years, but long ago.
Holly Hunter fits too, guessing the beloved important role was in Raising Arizona? Is Nic Cage A++?
Beverly D'Angelo is a great guess. I think it's definitely her. Any time I see her I immediately think Ellen Griswold even while on Entourage.
ReplyDeleteI'm liking Elizabeth Perkins for this one, big huge show: Weeds, beloved for starring in Big with Tom Hanks (A++++)
ReplyDeleteAmber! Bill Pullman is always a funny suggestion. (keep it up)
ReplyDeleteI only read a few comments, and then I decided to post my guess and see if anyone else thought it:
ReplyDeleteActress: Elizabeth Perkins.
Hit cable show: Weeds
A++ Actor: Tom Hanks
Movie for which she will be loved forever: Big
What about Julia Stiles? Cable show - Dexter.
ReplyDeleteAnd she'll always be loved for 10 Things I Hate About You, which she stared in with A++ Heath Ledger.
Elizabeth Perkins has been on Gossip Girl the last 6 years. Some of you real adults may not be aware, but it's my guilty pleasure! Lol
ReplyDeleteThe actress who plays Blair's mom is named Margaret Colin. But she could be Elizabeth Perkins' twin.
DeleteShe plays an amazing bitch, though. It wouldn't ever surprise me to see Elizabeth shut a fan down.
ReplyDeleteBeverly angelo for the WIN! She has babies with al pacino but they broke up a while ago. that is the important relationship as he is an A+++ actor
ReplyDeleteI met Edie Falco in person 3-years ago. Super nice and didn't mind a photo taken with me.
ReplyDeletei meant d'angelo and she is beloved for being a grizwald she was just in the old navy commercial
ReplyDeleteD'Angelo was in a relationship with actor Al Pacino from 1996 until 2003. The couple has twins, son Anton James and daughter Olivia Rose (born 2001).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beverly_D%27Angelo
Sarah, I think you are confusing Elizabeth Perkins with Kelly Rutherford. Kelly's character is Lily, Serena's mom. They do look similar, though. GG is also my guilty pleasure, so I'm slightly ashamed that I knew this, lol.
ReplyDeleteI like the Julia Stiles guess. . .
ReplyDeleteHolly Hunter is an Oscar winner. Wouldn't that have been mentioned?
What about Julia Louis(?) Dreyfus . A+ actor being Seinfeld.
ReplyDelete@Brooklyn, that's a really good guess....I love the 'mother of Al Pacino's kids' angle. Totally her. I didn't read the relationship with the A++ list actor as a working relationship (in the same show), but a personal one. Great call!
ReplyDeleteAmber, I laughed so hard at Lake Placid that after the movie ended, the woman in front of my patted me on the shoulder and told me I needed to "get out more." It's in my Top 10.
ReplyDeleteFirst time poster. This is Cybill Shepherd.
ReplyDeleteActress: Glenn Close
ReplyDeleteShow: Damages (surprisingly big hit)
Role: Bunny boiler in Fatal Attraction (with A++ Mikey D)
Look at her IMDB. Really is the definition of "almost A" -- could never string multiple hits together.
Courtney cox! /friends> cougar town
ReplyDeleteIf it weren't for the detail of almost being A at one time herself, I'd be thinking Bitty Schramm: in A League of Their Own with the A++ Tom Hanks and then on the cable hit Monk as Sharona....but I would imagine she's always been C+ list or so.
ReplyDeleteI read this as SJP the whole time. No one has guessed her yet. Please confirm. She's the only one who could get away with being bitchy like that, and it not being front page news, you know what I mean?
ReplyDeleteAnne Heche?
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine Cybil Shepherd being like that, in all the years I have seen her interviewed she has never seemed impatient plus she loves attention.
ReplyDeleteMoonlighting wasn't a cable show either.
A former actress on Dexter, Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Rescue Me, Nip/Tuck........
@Black Cat, I think Cybil was in a cable show called The L Word, or something like that (didn't see it). I don't have cable, so my guesses are all the ones that seem the most obvious: The Sopranos....that's the only one I can think of right now....
ReplyDeleteI think the A++ is the best clue. I think A and above, PARTICULARLY A++, has to be someone that everyone knows: so your younger brother, mother, and your grandmother know this person. Usually that's Tom Hanks and Will Smith, but I could see this begin extended to Robert DeNiro or Pacino, as their movies are iconic. Nicolas Cage as well, since he's an Oscar winner AND a big internet meme right now, and routinely is in the news or is in a movie.
ReplyDeleteJust gotta find an actress that worked with them. I think the Elizabeth Perkins guess is good, but the "everyone will always love her" is an untapped clue/ Who are the most beloved recent female characters in films, or most beloved female halves of a celebrity couple?
