Baltimore Teacher Bullied
A video taken by a student shows a substitute teacher in Baltimore being bullied by her students. Not only do they call her names, but the student at the beginning of the video actually flicks the face of the teacher. What is going on with kids today? Does anyone have any respect for anyone? This kind of thing makes me wonder what parents are teaching their kids where a kid thinks this is acceptable behavior. I understand this is a substitute, but can you imagine ever doing this to any adult when you were a kid, let alone a teacher? A spokesperson for the teacher's union says it happens everyday in the schools.
How is this possible?! The teacher (just like the bus monitor) are the ones in power. They supposedly have control in this situation. I understand that in this age of 'Sue first, ask questions later', teachers are worried about files charged, but seriously. They are adults. They need to grow some stones and start suspending and expelling.
ReplyDeleteThe swine flicking her face is a useless a piece of shit. Instead of wasting taxpayers dollars on kids who could care less about education, put them in juvenile detention centers, not school.
ReplyDelete@Wen- swine lol, you are too kind
DeleteHow about someone in authority actually give the "swine" an actual education. Try that first then maybe the savages would not be so out of control, right? Smh. Imagine you have a teacher that barely teaches, then you get a sub and they say "your teacher did not leave me any work for you." So you sit around for an hour!! Some bullies utilize that time...Perhaps, this is the reaction to being sick and tired of being FORCED to attend a prison like environment, dangerous, zero learning because there is zero teaching...(Shiny new building),DANGEROUS, not enough food portioning for older tweens and teens! Be QUIET until you spend two weeks in a SO CALLED GREAT SCHOOL IN BMORE CITY. Fraud up the ass has non cerified people not giving one shit about the kids. Not one shit. These children KNOW they are not learning anything...AND they are having their grades stole, the little they do get JUST TO QUALIFY FOR A SIG GRANT! They are angry at adults ESPECIALLY non Americans and Whites. People who do not care to REPORT THE CRIMES THEY ARE SEEING BEING PERPETRATED AGAINST CHILDREN!!! EDUCATION GENOCIDE, and they started early and THIS IS THE RESULT AND IT WILL GET WORSE (BY DESIGN). Choose your side.
Delete*Stolen. :)
DeleteShe should've filled charges, teach those bitches a lesson.
ReplyDeleteMy child would have a whole different life if he did/does something like this. Holy Shit. Just like with the bullying, WHERE ARE THE PARENTS.
ReplyDeleteThis makes me so sad. I think that, definitely, kids are ooc these days. But along with that, I don't think that everyone is qualified to teach...not everyone has the ability to handle kids. I have 2 sisters, both became teachers, both went to schools in neighborhoods with very little parental support. One thrived and connected with the kids, one couldn't hack and after a year went back to being an admin assist.
ReplyDeleteTeachers aren't allowed to punish kids any more. A friend of mine is a substitute and was teaching a class of second graders a couple weeks ago. A little brat knocked a fellow student over. The sub said "You have to go to the principal for that!" The kid said he didn't do it even though the teacher saw him do and the kid then threatened the sub, saying "My mom isn't going to like it when she finds out you sent me to the principal!" In my day we would have been sent to timeout or a corner to be punished, but that's not allowed any more. It's ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteShit like this makes me sick to my stomach. Whatever happened to respect your elders? Something needs to be done about this kind of crap.
ReplyDeleteThis should be a commercial for abortion.
ReplyDeleteHahaha love it!
DeleteSorry but I am old school, "Spare the rod, and spoil the child" is what I say.
ReplyDeleteoh, FUCK THAT. let me tell you, it's all about management. show them who runs the show. and if that doesn't work, LEAVE. there is no reason an adult should ever put up with ANY OF THAT. EVER. (I am a teacher and I approve this message)
ReplyDeleteGood for you. Ita and always hope my kids are put into a class with a strong teacher
DeleteFrom what I've seen, the parents are probably modeling this behavior in front of their children at a very young age. They make excuses and shield their children from the consequences of their actions at all costs.
ReplyDeleteI work retail and people are so f'ing rude it is unbelievable -- heaven forbid you tell someone "no" or displease them in any way. The storm of belligerency is unreal and usually, these people have brought their children along for the ride.
These attacks make me sad, but they don't surprise me.
Agree with MontanaMarriott - this stuff has gone on too long. Start arresting these kids, and if the parents have any assets, sue the parents. Unfortunately, penalties such as having to pay, or time in jail, is the only things these people understand. Hell, if the kids are young enough and doing this crap, put the parents in jail for a few days.
ReplyDelete@MontanaMarriott and SusanB - Agreed, our teachers don't get paid enough to put up with this shit.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to inner city public schools. The parent is upset not that the kid can't read, write, or do math. The parent is upset that snowflake "feels bad" that she was sent to the office.
ReplyDeleteBecause you know, self-esteem is really important, especially for kids who can't read, write, or do arithmetic. They may not be able to do much, but they sure feel good about it.
More black on white violence ingnored, welcome to Obama's America
ReplyDeleteThis is awful. I was a shitty teenager but NEVER, NEVER would I have disrespected a teacher or substitute for that matter. I agree, this starts at home. My parents would have thrown me to the wolves is they ever heard of me behaving like this to teachers, waiters/waitresses, my boss, etc. these kids should be embarrassed, but for some reason I do not think that is in them. This makes me so mad. Some kids needed to be treated like the assholes that they are. Not violence, obviously, but they need to learn some respect.
ReplyDeleteHere we go.
ReplyDeleteLol littlejenny!
ReplyDeleteHi everyone! I always read the blog but this is my first time commenting.
ReplyDeleteI'm a former high school teacher. And this stuff definitely happens. Students called me "b*tch," didn't follow rules, and other disrespectful things that I would never have done when I was in school. (And when I taught I was in my late 20s so I wasn't far out of the classroom myself.)
As to why teachers might not report it? I'll tell you right now why we don't. We're told NOT to. Or if we do, WE get the blame as in why didn't you stop it, or you have to be a bigger b*tch in the classroom. And I would kick students out of class for disrespect and/or not following rules, and not even five minutes later, they'd stroll back into the classroom with a smirk on their face. They would not get punished, and the blame was always on me and never ever on the student. And teachers are told not to complain or send students out because you then get the rep for not being able to control your classroom (and let me tell you, it was a constant struggle when kids just don't respect you and don't give a shit) and then your job is in jeopardy, and it's reallllllly hard finding a teaching job.
I can't even begin to tell you how awful it was. I got to the point where I was so stressed out that I couldn't eat and lost 30 pounds in a month. I didn't get tenure, which thank god for that blessing in disguise, and I left teaching because of all the awful things that happened made me hate a career that I had started out loving.
We must have taught in the same district. I taught high school for 7 years and just couldn't do it any more . Couple disrespectful students with an administration who was unwilling to do anything about it and it was a recipe for disaster.
DeleteMy mental health is much better now that I'm not in education.
"I wish my child would" in my best grandma voice. I have never spanked/hit my children but boy I would that day.
ReplyDeleteSuspend or expel a kid? Not so easy in a California public school. I taught high school English for one nightmarish year and let me tell you- unless a kid pulls a gun he isn't going anywhere. It was a daily barrage of abuse, disrespect, disruption, apathy, etc. I had 188 tenth-graders over 5 periods. Out of those 188 kids only TWELVE tested at or above grade level. The majority of them tested in the 3-6 grade range. Since we don't make failing kids repeat grades any more, these students just keep getting passed on. So now you have a 15 year-old who can't read, write or spell, let alone use any kind of proper grammar and you as a teacher are expected to somehow cram 6 years of schooling into one year? Especially when it's kids like these, who have zero respect or discipline or even any desire to learn. It's depressing AND infuriating.
ReplyDeleteAnd people questioned why I would 'isolate' my child by homeschooling him.
ReplyDeleteThis is so commonplace and it was in MY day and I graduated in 1978. BUT never would there be a face flick. And not so overt either.
ReplyDeleteI had a friend who taught 8th grade in the WA public school. Somehow he totally had his kids under control because he heard they were awful to the sub when he was out. He made them feel so bad, they actually wrote an apology letter to the sub without being asked to.
Yeah our shools are in trouble and teacher Grayson and VeeBee (thanks for the harrowing details) kindly explains to us why. Bad parents make bad kids.
What is even more disturbing is if students are willing to do this to adults what are they doing to their peers???
ReplyDeleteI majored in history with secondary education, I went to student teach in a very poor inner city Philly school and realized right then and there I was out, I graduated but never got my state license and never worked anywhere in the field ever again.
These 'kids' belong behind bars. It's times like these I really think teachers should have some form of protection.
ReplyDeleteIt's the parents these days. They refuse to believe that their kid isn't perfect. Or are completely uninvolved. So many believe that their kid can do no wrong. I see examples every single day of out of control brats and the parent is doing *nothing*.
ReplyDeleteI was exiting a grocery store the other day and this 8 or 9 year old kid was trying to open one of those big round containers of water. He had torn part of the plastic ring and was trying to tear the rest off. I asked if he had paid for the water. He said no. I politely explained he shouldn't open it because then the store cannot sell it to someone. He denied trying to open the water, but stopped what he was doing.
However, the mother was in line and had a freak out. "What did you say to my kid?" she bellowed. I calmly responded that I said he shouldn't open the water. Her response was that those jugs are hard to open and she didn't think he could finish it in the time it would take her to pay for her groceries and leave with him. Then told me to mind my own business, that if her kid opened the water, it wasn't my business.
As I walked out the door, I said it is my business because I don't like buying contaminated products, and that damaging things is the same as shoplifting because the cost is passed on to customers.
She really, really didn't like that response.
She ran after me outside the store and yelled at me to mind my own business and a few other choice things. I happened to be beside an off-duty employee when Mom flipped out. Employee thanked me because they're not allowed to say anything.
If this had been my mother in the same situation,
a) I would have known before entering the store that my life was over if I damaged anything.
b) would have had to pay for it and apologize to the store manager
c) been grounded for one week.
d) Mom would have thanked the lady for bringing it to her attention.
Disgusting behavior, makes me sick to my stomach because I was taught to respect my elders but I guess that's not the case anymore. I too think parents have some blame in this and also the system that lets kids get away with if! Teachers are afraid to discipline kids because parents can not handle someone else telling them their beautiful little baby is actually a shithead! If my teachers called my parents to complain about me I would be punished immediately.
ReplyDeleteI've said it before - as much as I believe in personal freedom, it's time we put birth control in the water or something and you're not allowed to have a child without getting a license to have one, preferably after having at least a year's worth of education on how to properly raise a child.
ReplyDelete@chilie - this happened to me - I was about 5, took something (I really didn't understand the concept of money) - someone told my mother, she dragged me to the store manager, made me apologize and I got a spanking when I got home. that was over 55 years ago and I still remember it vividly. And I always knew that if I got into trouble in school and my parents heard about it, they would automatically assume the teacher was right and I'd get in trouble at home too. Maybe that wouldn't work in all cases, but it would in the vast majority. (yeah, I know there are always exceptions, there are crazy teachers, but for the most part, you know it's the student's fault).
It's not new. There's just Youtube now to show it.
ReplyDeleteWhen I went to school, my dream was to be an English teacher and I didn't even make it through student teaching--it was the most discouraging experience I have ever had. Kids who were parked in classes with no expectation of learning, teachers who were beaten down and uncaring. I found it sad and depressing.
In 6 weeks I knew for sure I could never do it--any teacher who can go in and do it every day has my respect. It is a very hard job. I can't even imagine how hard it is to be a substitute teacher---having to be on call to teach anything on a given day--in an unfamiliar class--and then to run into this. It takes a special kind of person to do it, I think.

ReplyDeleteMy father was a HS teacher for over 35 years, and truth be told, the reason he retired early was because of an incident with a student.
ReplyDeleteHe had a student who wasn't in his class come up to his door while he was teaching, and the student began disrupting his class.
My father opened the door and tapped the student on the head two or three times as if knocking on a door and asked the student if he (my father) could help him.
The student immediately screamed abuse and flew to the principal's office.
Long story short, early retirement.
i think teachers should teach from behind those clear thick plastic walls like they have at banks. there is one small problem solved.
ReplyDeletethe bigger problem is, at risk of sounding like a conspiracy theorist, but is there some kind of agenda for kids today not learning anything and basically being babysat? and is there something useful with a general lack of respect for others that so many people now possess? or is our culture just going down the shitter? i have so many questions and a lot of fear regarding the way people treat each other today and how little protection there is for *certain* people who are disrespected, as opposed to others who are overly sensitive about it.
it makes me think of IDIOCRACY. mike judge just may be a prophet.
I often think the same thing! Stupid people are easier to control than someone who can think and reason for themselves. There is a general dumbing down. Instead of looking at important issues even national news started reporting celebrity happenings. With all the information out there, people of al ages are being discouraged to learn. I love some gossip but when i watch the news, i want real news.
Deleteinteresting that this should come up today. they showed the film "bully" at my youngest daughters school and she was terrified. maybe because of he abuse from her father. my kids sometimes have smart mouths to me or each other, occasionally other children. but they would never allow anyone to be mean or hurtful to others. EVER. i think you have to really grab the mean-gene right off the bat. but, maybe, its a little of experiencing something yourself lets you realize that it hurts.
ReplyDeletesays something about protecting kids today huh? we have all these laws in place to ensure that parents don't discipline their kids, but see what happens?
ReplyDeleteUmm it's called adolescents...kids can smell fear...that lady has no business teaching.
ReplyDeleteHope those kids get punished.
It's actually called 'Adolescents with Entitlement' and has very little to do with this teacher. What was she supposed to do. Hit her? This crazy twat---I hope she's exposed. I hope she's recognized. Whether or not she's cut out to be a teacher, we all get to deal with this type of burgeoning sociopath. No one's cut out to deal with what we're about to inherit from bad parenting.
DeleteThis is a complex issue. I am a former substitute teacher, high school teacher, current college professor.
ReplyDelete#1 not everyone is cut out to teach. You have to be able to exert authority and demand respect in some way. This is an intangible thing that is hard to teach someone.
#2 recklessly litigious kids and parents have taken much of the power away for teachers. Teachers and adminstration are terrified of being sued.
#3 kids can mirror their parents. How many people do you know have no respect for teachers? If the parents don't, more than likely the kids won't either.
#4 some teachers flat out suck and make the rest of us look bad. I can't begin to tell you how upsetting it is to see how many shitty stupid hard drug addicted teachers are out there.
From all my experiences, i can tell you without a doubt that if I had kids, they would go to private school.
What is sad is that teachers in elementary and secondary education aren't empowered to respond appropriately because the administration won't go against the parents of
ReplyDeletewell at least they didn't go shoot up the place like Columbine!!!
ReplyDeleteColumbine...now those kids were nuts!!!!
Parents are a HUGE part of the problem. The "not MY baby" attitude is really interfering with any level of punishment. Parents do not cooperate with teachers or administrators anymore, and tend to side with their child's version of events.
ReplyDeleteIn my junior high school there were thugs bullying teachers daily. By high school there were kids lighting joints in the front row of our algebra 2 class. Teachers have been castrated.
Kids today know they will not be punished for doing this kind of stuff. This is a generation in which no blame is placed on students in order to not hurt their feelings. A new generation of criminals.
ReplyDeletethese kids...some parents will fight back even when their child is in the wrong. I have some rude, entitled, and belligerent students in college. Fortunately I can tell them to leave the class (and call Campus Security -although I've never had to) and not return until they can behave with civility. And I don't have to let them makeup missed work until they return. When I was interviewing for a high school job, I had a question of how to handle disruptive behavior, and after giving several ideas on how to proactively gain compliance, I said if those tactics didn't work, I told the principal that I would remind the student that I was an educator; my role was to teach which this student's behavior was preventing, and I would have the student leave until he or she could choose behavior conducive to a teaching environment. The principal said, "you can't do that." Needless to say, I didn't get the job. Glad to have more power in a college classroom.
ReplyDeleteI'm a substitute teacher and the ONLY thing I look for is the administration. If they don't have my back, I'm toast. I'm lucky enough to choose where and what grade I want to teach. If it's been "one" of those weeks, I say yes to every elementary call I get so I remember why I always go back.
ReplyDeleteI have too many stories of bad days due to the lack of a backbone from the admin. I can deal with outbursts or attitudes from teenagers but when the principal sends them back without at least a detention, I don't go back to that school.
I taught a chem class one day and an 8th grader got into a drawer and pulled out a seven inch knife! His defense was he always does this and the teacher never says anything. I noticed that teacher is now in a new district.

Whenever I see these stories I feel a whole lot less worried about ever losing my job to someone younger. This generation has such a sense of entitlement they'll soon be in for a major smack down once they hit the job market and try to pull this attitude.
ReplyDeleteThat or a future at the DMV.
People are so quick to blame teachers for schools' failures, (and yes, there are a FEW terrible teachers) but this is why school fail. It's the students and parents. Most teachers want to do a good job. They don't become teachers to turn out failures.
ReplyDeleteIt seems the inmates are running the asylum.
ReplyDeleteTeachers seem to be hamstrung at the beginning. You must have rules that have consequences if not followed.
We have a generation of very messed up kids, no respect for elders at all, loathsome display of bullying to those younger and weaker than themselves, and little or no respect for their own peers if not in the same "clique". Add to that a negligible education due to their own failure to learn when given the chance.
Their future should be interesting.
@ Del Riser
ReplyDeleteYes, their future should be interesting. Probably will include stints in jail, and welfare because they keep getting fired from their minimum wage jobs, and generally a shitty life, imo. Which they will pass on their offspring...
There are so many great young teachers out there just itching to do their thing. Where are they going? Overseas. Truly sad.
ReplyDeleteSO many issues, as everyone has said here....absent/misguided parents, ill-prepared/hamstrung teachers who can't mete out discipline, and a system that lets kids like this languish un-engaged until the high school years, never facing consequences for their shortcomings, isolated with enough kids just like them that it reaches a fever pitch where things like this can happen.
ReplyDeleteMy kid is in a city elementary school, we love it, but the kids are little and the principal is tough and makes sure the teachers are, too. Still, I make sure my kid only has teachers with masters' degrees and solid classroom experience. That they let anyone else teach (especially in difficult schools) is a sin.
My Dad taught in Public Schools for almost 30 years. In the early 90s he had an opportunity to teach at the prison and leave the school district. He jumped at it saying he'd rather teach convicts than high school students any day of the week. Kids have gotten increasingly more disrespectful as the years have gone by too. My daughters have said several subs have cried at their school. Our school is tiny. Kids have become jerks! Very sad.
ReplyDeleteno one wants to discipline the kids. And god forbid if you do.
ReplyDeleteYou can;t have it both ways ppl.
@jeslan I was just thinking what the difference is between when my father was teaching in the 1960s and 70s and now. You mentioned about the necessity for the principal and VPs to have your back.
ReplyDeleteHis principal backed him up whenever he had a problem with the students (which wasn't often). The mouthy parents of the bullying students didn't run the school like they do now.
@Clubber Wang Poor poor Clubber. It's a cross to bear, being White, isn't it? How will you ever ever survive....
ReplyDeleteI wonder what happens to these kids when they enter the working world?
ReplyDelete@ Susan B they will not understand why they get fired for being late or get pissed when the boss tells them they are not doing they job right, because their whole lives they have been told that everything is great as long as they try, or they are a winner (when they clearly aren't). Mom and Dad have always protected them when someone says something mean. It's already started. I have done HR for 20 years and the difference in the quality of employees during that time is crazy.
ReplyDeleteDirtbag parents raise dirtbag kids. And, Baltimore City is chock full of dirtbags.
ReplyDeleteThis is horrible. :( I remember a time in 7th grade when my choir class made our teacher cry. I don't even remember why. Looking back, the worst part was that our fully grown adult assistant teacher didn't even bat an eye, she just sat at the piano and watched. I mean, so did I, and I regret it, but I was only 12.
ReplyDeleteI quit the teaching profession after just two years. I had some of the most disrespectful children. They would cuss at me, hit me, I even had one throw chairs at me. These were just kindergarteners. They were wild. Instead of any discipline, the principal's philosophy was to reward them for every little thing. Like if they had perfect attendance every day for a month, we had a dance every Friday...DURING SCHOOL HOURS! I couldn't withhold them from the dance for behavior issues either.
ReplyDeleteI've told this here before so apologies if you've read this...
ReplyDeleteTeachers where I live are told to stay off social media sites of any kind. I had a gig shooting events, and teachers would NEVER let me photograph them. It could be the most wholesome photo/event ever, but their schools told them if a parent were to see it, they'll complain to the school and the teacher will get fired. Insanity.
Kids have always been assholes, even back in my day. You sort of have to be more of an asshole than they are. They respect that. I didn't watch the video because it's already been one of those days where I hate humans because they are...assholes.
ReplyDeleteBack in my day we had two strong no-nonsense vice-principals who were basically trawled the hallways to keep discipline and order at my high school. The students feared them - not in the physical sense, but in the sense that they respected them to the point that they wouldn't dare act up in any way that would draw their attention; otherwise, it entailed a "trip to the office" where at best you'd be yelled at and made to sit by yourself for a few hours - at worst, you might get "shaken down" a bit if you know what I mean....we rarely had fights or bullying like they have today..
ReplyDeleteThe kid in this video would have "disappeared" from school mighty quick, not to be seen for days or weeks until the suspension ended.
This is why I send my kid to private school. Kids act up and WHOOMP! they're out.
ReplyDeleteWhile I don't agree with @Wang's tone, he/she is correct that if this had been white students harassing a black teacher, the subtext would have been entirely different.
Treating people like crap is not OK no matter what their skin color.
Have you seen the way some parents talk to their kids? Shoot, ride a public bus or the El in Chicago and you'll get an eyeful and an earful. It's no wonder the kids think this kind of behavior is acceptable--it's how some of them have been treated/trained to behave.
ReplyDeleteKids can be assholes. The parents either don't realize how much their children suck, or they ignore it. I don't like the word "bullying" being thrown around so casually. I would not call this a case of bullying.
ReplyDeleteFuck it: those kids need to be shot in the head. Period. They can contribute nothing to society; I hope they die painfully.
ReplyDeleteI agree with MadLyb.
ReplyDeleteBack in the seventies, I was in a class that made the French teacher cry just by mispronouncing Au Revoir on purpose over and over again [it was an organized effort]. I felt bad as she was a good French teacher but she was rather mousy. However the principal and vice principal who were men and well respected reigned terror on
that class and that teacher was never disrespected again at least not that school year.
I remember in high school that substitute or new teachers in particular had a short window to make an impression, if the students smelled weakness those teachers were in trouble. The ones that knew how to take control from the get go, not only got respect but often became quite popular. However I never remember anyone physically attacking a teacher but I remember a teacher physically attacking a student who was being a smart ass and that was in high school.
You need to teach teachers how to command a room, they need special training for inner city schools or schools with reps for this kind of behavior and more schools need principals that put the fear of God into kids or have their respect so they can support those teachers.
I realize it is so much harder today because the law is more lax on kids than ever, and they know it, and parents coddle their kids or just don't give damn.
Reform schools is where they used to send problem kids but you know that's not good for their self esteem to be segregated, never mind if they disrupt the learning process for everyone else - I guess the self esteem of the majority isn't that important.
ReplyDeleteClubber Wang take your racist bullshit to a Klan rally and burn in hell!
ReplyDeleteThis is what happens in Obama's America? So are you saying things like this didn't happen until a Black man was President, because everyone acted like they just play a round of golf or tennis when George W was in the Oval Office? Really? Now that is enlightening. I didn't know kids being complete assholes to teachers was something that the Black president cultivated.
And it's really being ignored, this Black on white violence, being on the evening news and all. What better way to ignore something than to broadcast! If this is your level of comprehension of what goes on, no wonder you're resentful. Please just do us a favor, call the President a Nigger, say you hate Black folks and keep it moving. It was be so much simpler!
Don't get me started. I could go on and on but I won't. What I will say is I am a middle school 7th grade teacher in the South. This is my 6th year teaching and quite honestly probably my last. I'm young-33 and system has already beat me down. It's a fucking joke. My district which is a highly sought after district in a nice suburb outside a major city basically wants every child to pass and if they don't you better bet your ass you have loads of documentation stating exactly what YOU did to ensure the child had every opportunity afforded to pass. Last year we were "highly encouraged" (read bullied) into passing students who otherwise should have failed for the year. It's a numbers game and everyone is in on it. Do what the district wants and everything is fine. There is NO accountability on the children at all. Failed a test? You must be given an opportunity to re-take the same exact test. Didn't do your homework at all this six weeks? That's ok because no one is allowed to fail just because of homework. Didn't do your class work because you didn't feel like it? That's ok too because you can do it in after school detention after the teacher has wasted more time tracking down your parents, documenting the conversation and getting together the work you should have done in class. I had a child flip me off the other day after I sent him out of class for talking and disrupting the whole class. When I wrote him a referral the AP sent me an email wanting to know if there were witnesses to the middle finger. Really? Now it's student vs. teacher's word and thank goodness a very reliable student witnessed the flipping off. Otherwise I'm sure this kid would have gotten off Scott free. Seriously. This is what education has come down to. Like I said I could go on and on but for the shitty pay, excruciating hours and parent/child BS teachers have to put up with it is no wonder the turn over rate is so high and education is falling through the cracks. Very sad.
ReplyDelete^And this right here is why I never went to get my state license. I got disillusioned teaching THIRD GRADERS. It is not for the faint of heart, that is for sure. I wish my program had spent more time teaching classroom management, but I'm not sure it would have made a difference. I just don't think everyone is cut out to do it.
ReplyDeleteAnd Enty, everything that is wrong with kids today can be placed squarely on the shoulders of terrible parents.
