Two Teens Charged With Autumn Pasquale's Murder - Caught By Facebook Post
Teen brothers Justin and Dante Robinson were turned in by their mother to the police after she read what one of the brothers had posted on the Facebook page of Autumn's brother. It simply said Autumn. It is believed the boys lured the 12 year old to them by promising to help her fix her bike. She was then beaten and strangled and dumped into a recycling container. The boys are 15 and 17 and I wonder how many parents would turn in their kids. After the mom turned them in, police found many of Autumn's possessions in the boys' house. They have been charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
That's what I call a stand up woman. Screw loyalty, a murder is a murder.
ReplyDeletePoor baby. Those dudes look scary as hell.
ReplyDeleteWeird, they look a little 'slow' to me.
DeleteYup Mother I was thinking the same.. Very slow :( assholes
DeleteI just don't understand why they killed her. It just can't be over a bike. Poor little girl.
ReplyDeleteThis makes me want to cry:( The sad thing is they will 20 years and be out and about meanwhile this little girl lost her life - not to mention the pain that the family is going through!! Bravo to the mother that turned them in!!
ReplyDeleteBad eggs are bad eggs regardless if they are your children or not!!!!
I would do this if my son or even my daughter committed murder.
ReplyDeleteI read that they wanted parts of her BMX bike to trade with other kids so that's why the lured her into their house. But I have no idea what prompted them to murder her. Thank goodness their mother turned them in.
ReplyDelete*will get
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine how hard it must have been for their mother, but good for her.
ReplyDelete@Roman, not necessarily! Yes, they could get out in 20, but its very possible for them to receive life. In cases of murder, most children their age are charged and tried as adults. I will not be surprised at all if life is not part of the sentence recommendation. I am not sure if its a death penalty state though. But I know if they were here in Texas, the death penalty would also be a possibility.
ReplyDeletelet's hope they get life, this was clearly premeditated they lured her there
DeleteI know this may sound terrible but it really depends on the case.
DeleteI'm hoping that this was somehow an accidental homicide just because two young men could not be this evil..
However, depending on if they planned out to kill her or not, if they did, they deserve life, both of them! If it wasn't planned and was sort of an accident, then I think they deserve 30 years.
You have to remember that they're 15 and 17, they weren't clearly thinking, but who does at 15 and 17?
RIP Autumn.
This has honestly rocked South Jersey. A child on child crime? Over a bike? We are all so disgusted and heartbroken. Not to sound naive but homocides in our area (besides Camden of course) are honestly unheared of. Especially the death of a child. One of the boys actually went to the candlelight vigil they had for her the night they night tgey found her body. He hugged her friends. This disturbs me more than some transient coming into town and murdering a child. These are two boys. With a mother who has to live the rest of her life wondering what she did wrong to make her sons murder an innocent girl. Now as for where mom was when Autumn was murdered inside the house, that has yet to be seen.
ReplyDeleteI am really starting to dislike people.
ReplyDeleteI feel for this little girl and her family and much kudoes to the mom for giving up her sons as opposed to staying silient and who knows, allowing them to become bigger monsters. I get so tired nowadays of parents that defend their kids and protest their innocence when they are quite clearly "troubled" and next thing you know, they're 30-40 adults doing the same things with the thought of "it's not my fault" and zero accountability. There should be more parents that take this stance.
ReplyDeletePsychos.
ReplyDeleteI'm starting to think so...
DeleteJeezus, they look......."very unsmart".
ReplyDeleteThis is insane. I feel so badly for Autumn's family and the boys' mother. Thank goodness she has the strength of character to turn them in and make them face their punishment.
ReplyDeleteI'd really like to "chip" my kids.....
ReplyDeleteBased on some of the stories I've read about the case, I'm going to assume that they hadnt meant to kill her - maybe she fought back when they went to steal her bike and the boys hit her harder than they'd meant to? Given the fact that they knew each other socially, and Autumn felt comfortable enough going to their house in the first place, I just...I suspect it was all a horrible accident and an attempted theft gone the wrong way.
ReplyDeleteI feel miserable for everyone involved.
Cindy, she was strangled to death per autopsy.
DeleteThey dumped their friend's dead body in a dumpster after they beat the shit out of her trying to steal parts off her bike
ReplyDeleteI'll save my grief for the family and loved ones of Autumn, and the mother of these monsters
As a mother, I can't imagine the pain her family is going through. These two thugs are a worthless waste of human existence. Maybe it's the Texan in me, but I say take them out back and shoot 'em.
ReplyDeleteno dealth penalty here in nj so i hope these psychopaths have to spend the rest of their lives in prison before they rot in hell
ReplyDeleteWhhhyyyy (in my Nancy Kerrigan voice)???
ReplyDeleteWhat that mom did could not have been easy. Typically, the mother of a criminal will cry on about "what a good boy he is"
Doing the right thing is usually the opposite of doing the easy thing.
Sorry - I didn't mean for that to come across as so bitchy to the commenter above me. I am a mom of two, and reading all these stories is really getting to me. I think I also need to ban the daily mail from my phone. They always report the most gruesome stories
ReplyDelete@PammieC good to know I'm not the only Texan here thinking the same thing!
ReplyDeleteMany people are petitioning to reinact the death penalty for child murders and cop killers. The law would be called Autumns law. I wish we would bring it back. And fast track these two murderers.
ReplyDeleteThere are no words for this tragedy. Absolutely none.
ReplyDeleteEveryone looses here. Two families have lost children today. The beautiful girl who's life was ended too soon. And the two brothers who were compelled to do this horrible thing. Will we really ever know why?
I praise the mother who turned her sons in. That could not have been easy. And since I don't have all the facts I won't condemn her for bad parenting etc. She did turn them in.
I am truly heartbroken over this. Autumn we love you and hope you find peace with the angels. And I pray that her family will find the strength to heal from this tragedy.
According to news reports, she was strangled...it's hard to choke someone to death by accident. Don't give these monsters any benefit of the doubt.
ReplyDeleteStudies have shown that the human brain is not fulling developed until the early - mid twenties. Yes, what these kids did was horrendous, but they don't deserve to die. And, quite honestly, they need to go somewhere for rehabilitation. They can still lead long, productive lives.
ReplyDeleteOk Audrey. And when they are done being rehabilitated they can go live in your community. Would you feel safe? I sure as hell wouldn't.
Deletedidn't we have this discussion on a jessica ridgeway thread? again you CAN'T rehab a psycho or any murderer for that matter. a murderer should not be released back into the community ever.
Delete-_- @Audrey, that is not an excuse for someone to commit murder. Seriously.
ReplyDeleteThat would be me, F' protecting my kids, they did the crime, they must do the time. That poor girl and her family, I would not be able to even begin to apologize to them for what my sons did if I were their mom, SMDH
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteSo the boys Mom read that one of her sons posted the wod "Autumn" on Autumn's brothers FB and that is why she turned them in to police? I'm only asking because that seems odd to me, maybe there was more to it.
ReplyDelete@Audrey, that may be the scientific case but a 15 and 17 year old should know that murder is wrong. I have to disagree there.
ReplyDeleteI cosign with Big Fish
ReplyDelete@Audrey
ReplyDeletewhile I intend to agree, I also feel some people cannot be rehabilitated, including children, and go on to repeat offend. How to know?
@enjoyableari, i accidentally comment while hubby was signed in thus Big Fish lol
ReplyDeleteThey did it because they are psycopaths. No well adjusted person would kill someone else for parts of a bike. Why not just wear face masks, rob her and let the poor girl go (not that you should go around robbing ppl..)??? I think they wanted to commit a murder.
@Dija Star, well haha :) I cosign with Dija Star then ^.^
ReplyDeleteI bet the mama found some of Autumn's things around the house....pretty obvious, especially if she doesn't have a young daughter.
ReplyDeleteGod bless her, she must be losing her mind.
And I can't even fathom what Autumn's family is going through right now.
Thank goodness their mother turned them in, so few parents would.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if they'll be charged as adults?
Really Audrey??
ReplyDelete@Figgy, Most likely. They are close to adults already, and usually in murder cases children can and will be tried as adults.
ReplyDeleteAre there two uglier muthha fukkas than these pricks?
ReplyDeleteI don't think their looks really matter Regina.
ReplyDeleteThis is a tragedy in every single way. :(
ReplyDeletefor a mom to be more afraid OF he children, than FOR her children, tells you a lot. the 15 year old went to a school for kids w/ behavioral issues. maybe this is a case of a situation that just got out of control. not a planned murder. they were going to try and con her out of bike parts, but she objected, said she was going to tell, and they panicked.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI am proud of the boys' mother for turning them in. Too many parents are in denial about their children, and will help them lie and cover up their wrong-doings.
ReplyDeleteSo sad for Autumn's family.
Sunny - no more daily mail before 9AM. They do find the worst of America and post it for all the world to see. Does the UK hate us that much? *being snarky here*
ReplyDeleteAudrey - I understand what you are trying to say. I think we all know stories of teenagers being teenagers. There is real science behind this! But the human part if me is freaking out that an underdeveloped brain could be the cause (or part of the cause) of such a horrible crime. Bad Egg or Bad Brain? Heavy topic so early in the AM.
Where is auntliddy? She loves this brain stuff!
ReplyDeleteOh auntliddy??? Where are you?
@Me, I was just going to say that! Both of these kids look dead-eyed (well, one has his eyes closed but his features are slack and expressionless) to me and as much as the mother may love them, it occurred to me that they frighten her, too.
ReplyDeleteOf course their looks don't matter, I just felt the need to point out their hideousness.
ReplyDeleteYes, everyone REALLY! While I agree they need to be tried and sentenced, I do NOT agree with the death penalty. Death is irrevocable. What if we kill them next year as punishment" only to find out that one may have had a brain tumor or that science has found a way to really rehabilitate bad people or turn around bad kids? What then?
ReplyDeleteOh, and I live IN Chicago where there have been hundreds of murders this year alone. I see thugs every day. And I still stand by my opinion.
Word. The death penalty is ridiculous.
DeleteWhy are some of you jumping on Audrey? She stated an opinion, and while no one has to agree with it, there's no need to gang up on her about it, either. Not that everyone who disagreed has done that, mind you.
ReplyDeleteShe didn't say it was an excuse, she didn't say they should be able to walk away from this free and clear. You're reading more into what Audrey than what is there.
That's why no one wants to express their opinion--the drama isn't needed. For all the talk of the government taking away our freedom, we're doing a great job of that all by ourselves.
I was only saying hun cuz sometimes the quiet good looking guy is a serial killer.
ReplyDelete@Audrey, Ok seriously not trying to gang up on you, just getting into a discussion ok?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, You are right. However, I am not sure you fully understand how long it takes before the death penalty is enacted. While the death penalty can be sentenced, it can literally take decades before its acted out. There is still the process of appeals the defendant can apply for, new evidence can come to light, his/her attorney can fight the sentence and try to get life instead. It is a long and lengthy process for a reason.
People ARE for rehabilitation. They really are. But there are studies that suggest that despite the desire for it, it doesn't always happen. ESPECIALLY in prison. They are more likely to become repeat offenders if they were ever released. That is the sad reality.
@Me I was kind of thinking the same thing. Maybe there was more to the story with the Mother and how quickly she turned them in. It sounds like she may have feared them and been afraid of something like this. All she saw was a comment "Autumn" and she immediately knew what her sons had done.
ReplyDelete@Audrey These aren't young children, these boys are 15 and 17 and perfectly capable of making a distinction between right and wrong. They don't deserve to be "rehabilitated" as you say, for a very, very long time. Why do they get a second chance at life because some doctor says "Ohh their brains aren't fully developed, they didn't know what they were doing, lets give them some therapy sessions and they will be totally new kids! They didn't know what they were doing, kids will be kids!" BULLSHIT. Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit.
Strangulation is a very personal death, you are placing your hands on that person and basically drawing the life out of them, feeling every second of their life that you are taking. You don't accidentally strangle someone, your hands don't happen upon someones throat and squeeze of their own accord.
These boys don't deserve our excuses, they don't deserve our understanding, and they sure as hell don't deserve one ounce of sympathy from any person. You get what you deserve and something tells me that while those boys were strangling Autumn they didn't give her life the respect of a second thought.
@ enjoy - actually, that's one of the reason's why I'm against the death penalty. It's way too costly. It's cheaper to keep them in prison, or for those that have shown good behavior, send them to college!
ReplyDeleteAt the end of the day, so many of you are yelling KILL KILL KILL without ANY real information about who these kids are, what their upbringing was, etc. Do you even know their IQs? What if they are found mentally unfit? What then? KILL KILL KILL?
Let's just all chill, mourn, and see where this whole thing leads us to before we jump on our KILL KILL KILL bandwagons.
I cosign this JSierra. Slow clap.
DeleteI cosign Audrey. Slow clap.
DeleteI want more information about what happened. I am horrified and they should stay in prison. But more importantly - how did these boys end up like this? What happens to a young person to make killing, no strangling, a beautiful young girl an OK thing to do and then go to her vigil and hug her friends? That's a messed up kid. Brain damage, drugs, bad parenting, bad genes????
Locking these two boys up doesn't solve the larger problem of the WHY! No one wants to fix the societal issues that set up a situation for this to occur. Again I don't have all the facts, but I'm ready for a SOLUTIONISM movement so we don't keep losing our babies to senseless crimes and anger.
I hope they are released in 5 years and live long productive lives next door to Audrey.
ReplyDeleteJust an opinion. And a hope.
Wow, really? I don't agree with Audrey but this is just messed up
Delete@Audrey, its no more than what would happen if they were in for life. They still have the right to appeal, and get retried. They still receive the taxpayers money to take care of them, give them three square meals a day, an education, job skills, the works.
ReplyDeleteThe thing is, these murderers are living better lives than a lot of people in the US today. THAT is not right.
Everyone has their opinion, and I certainly respect yours. Being for the death penalty is not for everyone. However, I don't think its right to let them live a productive life (albeit behind bars for 20 years) and then try to reinsert themselves into society while a young woman had her life ended abruptly all for a BIKE.
@trudi: your ability to hope is frightening.
ReplyDeleteAnd some of you say that the world scares you. You should be scared of yourselves more. Not because of your opinion. But because you can't appreciate someone else, and hope for bad things to happen to them.
ReplyDeleteITA Layna! Scary stuff I'm reading here
DeleteThey damn well better NOT get out at 20 yrs old. Fuck them. They should be tried and convicted as adults. If not, they should be sterilized before they're let out of Juvie Jail.
ReplyDeleteTheir poor mother, and the poor girls' family. Lord have mercy on this world. I mean this in all sincerity--please dear God, please have mercy on humankind.
Because we are all barely a hair's breadth above wild animals in the goddamn forest. And at least animals kill for food, FFS.
The boys’ father, Alonzo Robinson, told the Star-Ledger of Newark that his sons had been charged with bike theft before. Police reportedly found parts stolen from other bikes in the bassement. An autopsy showed Autumn died of strangulation. The brothers lived with their Mom and a new step-father and another brother, who was not invloved.
ReplyDeleteAutumn would have celebrated her 13th birthday on Monday, October 29th. RIP.
What about women who murder abusive husbands? Or children who kill their pedophile parents? Do they deserve to be cast to the wind forever?
ReplyDeleteYes, I understand those situations can be seen as self defense. But someone still died. It's a form of murder.
Life isn't is as black and white as we want it to be. It's a whole lot of gray.
The charges, in addition to what Enty listed (murder, conspiracy to commit murder), include tampering with evidence, improperly disposing of a body and theft. Justin Robinson also was charged with luring.
ReplyDelete@Layna, You are very right. The world is grey, but you have to understand the world of law. Death penalty is only asked or granted when the crime is so grievous or heinous, and there is no hope for rehabilitation. All criteria has to be met for the death penalty to be asked and granted.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, those things you mentioned ARE a form of murder. However, the law states that if you feel your life is in immediate danger, then a homicide can be justified as self defense. In those cases, it is justified. In this one it is not.
Wow. This is a tragedy all across the board.
ReplyDelete@ fancy ITA with the chipping. I would do it in a heartbeat. Good call.
ReplyDeleteSo so sad for everyone involved. And all of us should go easy on one another here, the justice system heated topic made worse by the senselessness of it. It's fucking terrible, no matter which way you slice it.
@nap assassin, Hey man, I'm all for peace here ^.^ Just trying to enlighten, not flame rage I promise.
ReplyDeleteI know, you all have super valid points. But like abortion the death penalty is super divisive. It's just worse since three kids are involved.
DeleteAgreed. It's like politics. You want to stay the hell away from it.
ReplyDelete@ enjoy: I understand the basics of how murder charge are brought up. I wouldn't want anyone in those abusive situations to be in prison, either. But it's too easy to say no murderer can be helped. Not saying these two guys can be. I don't begin to understand the human mind. But there are so many situations that need to be approached with sensitivity. And that doesn't happen enough.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, yodelay. It's very sad, no matter how we look at it.
I know I may get flamed for this and I know its a completely separate issue but -- I was in Rwanda about 5 years after the genocide. What struck me the most wasn't how violent the people seemed or how chaotic it was -- in fact, I found it to be exactly the opposite of my expectations. I was shocked by how calm, quiet, clean, and serene I found Kigali and its people - just like my quiet suburban town back home in Canada.
ReplyDeleteTruly, there are people that are chemically unbalanced - true 'psychopaths'. This may the be the case of these two boys. At the same time, all humans are animals, and can be driven to the most unspeakable violence by a whole range of factors -- whether biological, societal, or just the context that we found ourselves in. That's why I'm against the death penalty (even though I do think these kids should be put in jail for a long time). And that's why I think this is a tragedy on many levels.
@Layna: Ok, I'm curious (and again not trying to flame rage, I'm loving the discussion), but how will life in prison help these murderers rehabilitate? What is your opinion on that?
ReplyDeleteThis has happened literally minutes from my community. So glad the boys were caught. I can't imagine what both families are going through. I do not support the death penalty at all. (I hope that doesn't cause any of you to wish that bike thief-murderers move in next door to me.) I feel like our Constitution needs to be posted on this Web site sometimes. Jesus, people. We are able to disagree with each other. Honestly, the negativity on so many posts is making me not want to post anymore.
ReplyDelete@Susan, there is nothing wrong with disagreeing with the death penalty. I believe in it in certain circumstances, yes, but not for every murderer out there.
ReplyDeleteEveryone has the right to their opinion, but everyone has the right to argue that opinion. It's the problem with sharing said opinion, you are going to get people who agree with you, people who don't, and people who will argue and be nasty for the sake of doing it. It's the internet after all, and the internet is a scary place.
*gets off soap box*
I shouldn't say I don't support the death penalty at all. But, in this case at this moment, I don't.
ReplyDeleteenjoyableari - I 100 percent agree with you regarding debating different opinions on the interwebs. However, I am really not a fan of posters belittling other posters for their differing opinions. And unfortunately, I feel like this blog has turned into that over the past few weeks. I've been lurking every day but the high and mighty attacks kill the joy of this blog. And as so many of us have said throughout the years, the commenters make the blog so awesome. So, I just hope everybody on here can take a deep breath before going on the attack.
@susan, Hey I'm a long time lurker, and this is honestly the first thread where I've actively gone and commented.
ReplyDeleteEventually, the blog will revert back to how it was. Its these sort of stories where you are always going to get flamerage wars.
Golf claps for the Mom who was never home and let her sons run wild, stockpiling stolen bikes and bike parts in HER basement.
ReplyDeleteDid anyone actually think maybe she was protecting HER OWN ASS by turning them in? Her own ex-husband who hasn't had contact with any of them for years knew the kids were running a stolen bike scheme.
Bravo for raising shitty kids and then turning them over to the police so you can go back to doing whatever it is while your sons were throwing wold parties and getting arrested numerous times for stealing.
@Layna Day - yes everyone has an opinion, but why do you feel the need to respond to all of them? Take your own advice, dear. Audrey is a big girl, she can defend her own comments.
My guess is she found the bike and evidence of someone being beaten to death in her basement and panicked after the fb post.
Cue the bleeding hearts.. "she was working two jobs!" (that doesn't fly, or else tons of kids out there would be commiting murder)
I believe in the death penalty also, in certain cases, especially child murder. And God knows it takes forever for the death penalty to be carried out - plenty of time to see if they have a brain tumor or some other fixable problem.
ReplyDeleteBrava to the mother who turned them in. Would my mother have turned me in? Absolutely! She did! There was a hit and run near our house (I was in college then) - a witness took down the wrong tag number and the cops came looking for me. She immediately told them where to find me. And then she called and yelled at me until they showed up. Luckily it was a different color car and I had a rock solid alibi - I was read my rights but was not arrested. And if you ever want to be scared out of your wits, be accused of something and have your rights read to you. I cried so hard I scared the officer.
I just want to state that I applaud the mother for turning her sons in.
ReplyDeleteHoly shit - SusanB. That is totally something my mom would do as well.
ReplyDeleteI know, these stories always make you think, "Well, what would I do?"
I'm standing with Audrey on this one. An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree Jax!
ReplyDelete@Layna Day - yes everyone has an opinion, but why do you feel the need to respond to all of them? Take your own advice, dear. Audrey is a big girl, she can defend her own comments.
ReplyDeleteI barely post these days, but I don't expect you to know that. Thanks for the advice though, I'll give it to someone who can use it.
I know what it's like to have an opinion on here and be labeled stupid, ignorant, and and unaware. It's repulsive and it needs to be called out.
"I'm standing with Audrey on this one. An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind."
ReplyDeleteExcept for the last guy!
@SusanB "I cried so hard I scared the officer". I did the same thing when I first got my driver's license and was pulled over. I was so terrified that I started crying and the cop was just trying to tell me the rear tire was going flat. He felt so bad he changed the tire.
ReplyDeleteStanding with Audrey on this one, too. It's no coincidence that nations with the death penalty are some of the most brutal on the planet, from the government and the people. Company I'd like to move away from personally. I love the USA, but the death penalty is just one of the many things we increasingly do as a society that promotes dangerous disregard for others. These, more all the time it seems, are the results. We can choose to be more human than animal, and when it's difficult, it means more. Prayers for all the innocents involved. :(
ReplyDeleteDarwinism
ReplyDeleteCome on.......they knew what they did...sick f#&"s......put them down! Let our maker deal with the rest!
ReplyDeleteFor the record, I knew my opinion would not be a popular one as it is so liberal, but I'm used to the push back.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that everyone is able to air their opinions on this site. Too bad some got a little riled up and mean-spirited towards me, but there are all kinds in this world and those kinds seem to be represented on this board. I can honestly say that in the past I have had second thoughts about opinions I've had based on my reading others on this board. That's a good thing! Perhaps someone reading my comments on this topic might also start to second guess their own opinion. Life is a learning process.
Finally, it's interesting that some of the most mean-spirited comments here are from the people that were so quick to judge a couple of teenagers that were very mean-spirited themselves...
I'll be happy when we can express our opinion and disagree without someone going into boxer on punching bag mode.
ReplyDeleteI thought you expressed yourself well, Audrey. Kudos to you.
I'm with Audrey, Layna Day, etc on this one.
ReplyDeleterip Autmn. And prayers for the mother. I hope those boys see the light.
ReplyDeleteI applaud the mother of the boys for turning them in.
ReplyDeleteI question the mental capabilities of the boys; did they not think this through? Did they not think they could get caught?
It's obvious that they don't possess compassion. I don't know if they can be rehabilitated if they could strangle a friend over bike parts.
I wonder if they will turn on each other?
You can talk about poor judgment at 15 & 17 all you want, but I knew when I was 7 years old not to beat someone up, steal from them or murder them. Has nothing to do with their ages.
ReplyDeleteJax is on to something. Mom was a passenger in a DWI car crash in September. Her driver was drunk and the other passenger was killed. I wonder where her 5 kids were while Mom was drunk driver joy riding. Mother of the year.
ReplyDelete** News ** Vicki Cupper just commented on another thread :
ReplyDelete"They arrested the sick fuck that murdered Jessica Ridgeway".
http://www.wptv.com/dpp/news/national/austin-reed-sigg-jessica-ridgeway-suspect-arrested-in-her-abduction-murder
17 years old ..
The dead expression in their eyes tell me that there would be no successful rehabilitation for them.
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for the family of the girl and the mother of the boys, but who was the friend she was suppose to go see? Did they not contact her parents after about an hour of her not arriving at their house?
Why are we arguing over the rehabilitation of these two monsters? I don't want people like this living in my world, let alone my community.
ReplyDeleteIndeed. I don't much care for the talk of evil people, but when it comes to the hallmarks of co-morbid psychopathy and antisocial personality disorder, I'm seeing it in spades here. There will be no rehabilitation here. Likely these two will lack empathy, have low impulse control and violent tendencies to the end of their days. It's not very useful to hate them, anymore than it is to hate a pitbull that mauls a small child to death. They can't help being what they are. That being said, mad dogs should not be allowed to go back on the street because they are mad.
ReplyDeleteIn the grand scheme of things, no one life has more value than another life. Why is an adult being murdered and less heinous than a child being murdered? Murder is murder across the board whether it be a criminal act or state sanctioned execution.
ReplyDeleteAs Albert Camus said, "In such a world of conflict, a world of victims and executioners, it is the job of the thinking people not to be on the side of the executioners."
*any less heinous
ReplyDeleteIts the dreams of the forever optimist when they talk of rehabilitation.
ReplyDeleteLet me tell you guys a story of a court case I was unlucky to be a juror on. a 32 yr old man had sexually assaulted a 5 yr old girl. We had found him guilty, and the possible sentence we could give him was 25 to life.
I was ready to give this man life, because his stand was, I didn't do anything (despite there being outstanding evidence proving he did), she must have CRAWLED ON TOP OF ME WHILE I WAS SLEEPING AND DID IT HERSELF. This, was a sick man.
However, most of the jurors disagreed with me, and said he could be "rehabilitated". In the end, we gave him 46 years with a chance of parole in 23. I was furious, because the stance was, he has children too, we need to think about HIS children.
Turns out, after the trial we found out, that the man was supposed to have been tried over a year ago, but had posted bail and RAN. they didn't find him til two weeks before the trial began and held him without bail. I looked everyone dead in the eye after that, and NO ONE could look back at me. Finally, they all said how sorry they were they didn't give him life, because there was just no way this man felt any remorse for what he did. Why else would he run?
THIS is the reason why I don't believe in rehabilitation.
DISCLAIMER: The previously expressed views are solely those of discoflux and do not necessarily reflect the views of anyone else nor serve to oppress anyone else's views.
ReplyDeleteFor the mother to twig at the Facebook status then she must have been concerned about what her boys were turning into. And then to turn them in...maybe she knows it's better if they're locked up?
ReplyDeleteThe reason I don't agree with the death penalty is two fold:
ReplyDelete1) There have been so many cases where a person has been found innocent after spending years in jail. You can't resurrect the dead if you make a mistake.
2) The families of those who are guilty are also victims. By killing their loved ones you punish them.
Having written that, I truly believe in LIFE sentences. I am afraid we have dropped the ball on preventing the degeneration of society by allowing children to stay in home environments that are detrimental to their health. Having children is a privilege, not a right, and until we start acknowledging that we will continue to have children killing children and psychopaths roaming the streets.
Vale Autumn. May your family eventually know peace.
I am so sad for two families whose lives are probably ruined by this.
ReplyDeleteI don't know enough about the boys or their history to judge "why" or what should happen to them but this all makes me so sad.
There is just no recovering or getting over something like this.
Poor poor Autumn.
No rehab for these killers. Put them down or put them away for life. Either works for me. Just keep them away from the rest of society forever.
ReplyDeleteRehabilitation works for minor crimes. Murderers, rapists, chomos. I am highly doubtful. I believe most of the desire to do those things is a chemical imbalance in the brain that can't be fixed or perhaps a malformation in the areas of the brain that grasps right from wrong. If you look at the skulls of many serial killers they seem almost mishapen. If we are indeed related to neanderthals perhaps in some people those genetics disturbed the brains hard wiring and made them more primitive in decision making? Where is their impulse control? I find these fascinating and plausible theories.
ReplyDeleteSo tragic for both families.
The pictures of these two boys, their mom's DWI add up to what looks like fetal alcohol syndrome. If you get exposed to enough prenatally, it does a number on your frontal cortex and your judgment and impulse control are pretty crappy. Which is not to say they might not know the difference between right and wrong. A really, REALLY sad scenario for everyone involved.
ReplyDelete"What if we kill them next year as punishment" only to find out that one may have had a brain tumor or that science has found a way to really rehabilitate bad people or turn around bad kids? What then? "
ReplyDeleteAutumn would still be dead. Strangled by at least one of them.
Are you kidding me?
kudos to the mom. i feel for the family, this is horrible. stupid kids... WHY would they post anything on facebook about it!? what a dumbass!
ReplyDelete@Audrey
ReplyDeleteI agree. I don't believe in the death penalty, personally, for a few reasons. Plus, they are teenagers. They CAN be rehabilitated. If they get to prison and then get out and have a high recidivism rate then no, they probably can't be rehabbed.
Mind you, I'm Canadian..... so we tend to think this way... hahaha
I thought the Facebook post said, "Might have to move soon :("
ReplyDelete@Audrey I agree with you too. Canada got rid of the death penalty decades ago. The death penalty really is not a deterrent. More often than not, the prisoners on death row *ask* for death, because they have lost their freedom. For child killers in particular, prison is a living hell, because many inmates themselves were abused as children.
ReplyDeleteThese two boys look like men. I think this is part of the problem. The girl is angelic, and is the victim of a heinous crime. In a small community like this, if the mother was known to be a good mother, it will be much easier for her family. If she wasn't, there will be hell to pay and she will likely have to move. I wouldn't be surprised if drugs or alcohol were elements in this crime as it seems to have come out of nowhere.
There needs to be special facilities for the evaluation of child and teen criminals accused of serious crimes. This also helps the family of the victim, because they deserve to know what really happened, and it takes time to get to the truth.
@emjoyableari I think it's well-documented that child molesters can't /won't be rehabilitated.
ReplyDelete@Layna Day Don't worry Layna, everyone who has read this blog for any length of time knows that there are cliques of people who think alike who will back each other up....
ReplyDelete@Roman Holiday Hopefully the courts do the right thing and charge them as adults and they wont be seeing the light of day any time soon.
ReplyDeleteGlad she turned them in.
ReplyDeleteFood for thought.
