Tina Fey And Amy Poehler Hosting Golden Globes

Ricky Gervais is not going to get a third consecutive year as host of the Golden Globes. Instead, the show has decided to head in a more celebrity friendly, family friendly direction and have announced that Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will co-host the show when it airs in January. I think it is an interesting choice. I love them both and it is a very safe choice. Since the show is airing on NBC, they can probably call all their SNL friends to help with sketches and bits and you know Jimmy Fallon will be a very big part of whatever they do. I think last year the Golden Globes wanted to show they could be edgy which is they wanted to invite Ricky back. The thing is he has become so big in his own mind that it was just going to be too difficult to go for year number three.

  3. Ricky played it too safe last year but I'm excited for Amy and Tina! And can I mention what a nice set of bewbs Amy has? I mention it a lot but they are nice and I'm jealous.

  4. Love Amy Poehler. Tina Fey, not so much.

Awards shows are so irrelevant to my existence now. I didn't even pass by the Emmys as I was scrolling through the channels.

I hope this gets more people to watch Parks and Rec. Freakin' love that show.

  8. Off GG topic, but I recently seen a before pic of Tina Fey. wowsa, she looked like a pudgy 45 year old spinster living alone with just her cats and no tweezers when she was 20. Amazing what losing a few pounds, a nice brow arch, and a sexy pair of specs will do.

    1. She writes about it in her book which is laugh out loud, tears rolling down your cheeks funny. And i am not an easy laugh.

  10. @goes in circles - i think that her character on 30 rock is based on that.

Off topic, but am I the only one who finds it weird that someone is ON a tv show, but IN a movie?

  12. Ricky didn't really want to do it last year, and he told them then he wouldn't do it again.

He constantly works on a lot of projects he really believes in....things that will never be mass market, but he doesn't care. His money from "The Office" was a fluke, and he'll be the first to tell you that.
If he was 'so big in his mind', I think he would care a lot more for the attention of hosting the GG, or selling more mainstream stuff to Americans.

He's opinionated, so what? Don't watch/read what you don't like.

Fey & Poehler know how to write so well, so that means it will be GREAT. I'm so glad the GG are having women host, and that they got away from the crutch of trying to reel in RG again with a giant paycheck. Won't work. Glad they were on top of it.

  13. Unless my adding if off Ricky hosted 2010, 2011, 2012 so that would be 3 in a row. Enty say's he only hosted twice. He's first to appearances were good the last one sucked. Glad to see Amy and Tina.

  14. lizjaxe, you're right.

He did NOT want to be there last year. I think he felt obligated, he wasn't having fun.

I'm SO glad they found a quality replacement!

  16. I now have a vested interest beyond the fashion fuck ups and to see who gets shitfaced before the last award. I wouldn't count on this being all that family friendly- these girls can be fairly acerbic.

  17. This has potential to be a giant SNL All-Stars reunion. Which could rock or completely bomb. Either way, it'll get me to watch. Or at least flip back and forth.

  21. @Reno-Hi! Did the half on Sunday- loved it even though my inner ankle decided to give me fits. Lol, guess that just means I'm officially a runner though, right? ;) I'm definitely gonna do another in the future.

  22. I believe this photo is from the "Night of the Drunk Moms", so those are Amy's post-natal globes. Seriously, look up pictures of these two and John Hamm from this night. They're hilarious.

  23. EmEyeKay:Long time no see! Missed ya.

Yeah I can't wait to see these girls go. I asked this yesterday but have there been any female hosts of awards shows? It will most def have loads of SNL alum in it. Just waaaaiiiitt!

  24. This will be so great. Gervais needs to take it down a notch. I find him funny but the arrogance is becoming off putting.

Love Fey and Poehler! I wish they were my aunties.

  25. Sherry, Whooping Godberg did the Oscars, and then they left her off the retrospective look! Douchnozzles!

  26. I like Gervais, but full on, not contstrained.

I do love these ladies, too, and am happy that an awards show finally made a good choice. They fit the venue and are smart and funny.
