Stacey Dash Is Having A Big Week
Until this week had you mentioned Stacey Dash lately? Now it seems like she is everywhere. Entertainment Weekly did their reunion special so the cast of Clueless got together and Stacey has been doing interviews for that and then she Tweeted this weekend that she was supporting Mitt Romney. Apparently this was the wrong thing to tweet because she received death threats, and horrible racist hate filled Tweets which no person should have to experience. Then, last night she went on Piers Morgan and said that despite all the hate from people on Twitter that she is not changing her mind on who to vote for. I have to commend some groups that are very liberal and very pro-Obama for coming down hard on Stacey Dash haters. If someone does not agree with your position, death threats and racist remarks are not the way to debate or argue. I don't get the hate. So, Stacey likes Mitt. So what? Bruce Willis does too. I don't see him getting hate mail or death threats. Is it because Stacey is black and therefore should automatically vote for Obama? I'm white. Does that mean I should automatically vote for Romney? That is what is wrong with that logic.
...and here it is.
ReplyDeleteIf you voted for Romney just because you are white, some might call that racist.
ReplyDeleteFSP, I think you're the resident psychic now!
ReplyDelete@FSP - good call :)
ReplyDeleteThe fact of the matter is, people everywhere are ignorant and they feel like they can get away with this sort of behavior because they think it's somewhat anonymous. Would they go up to her at the grocery store and tell her they're going to kill her? Not likely. It's not right, but there's not much you can do about it other than to accept the fact people are ignorant and it's ignorant behavior.
Yes, yes. But let's talk about what really matters. She looks fabulous!
ReplyDeletePolitics are so out of control these days!!! George Washington is probably rolling over in his grave right now!
ReplyDeleteRight eris? She looks fantastic..I wish to look that great when I'm in my 40s.
ReplyDeleteIts awful that she cannot express herself politically without people wanting to kill her. That is bonkers.
Enty - well said.
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah, she looks better in her 40s than I did in my 20s. Best wishes to her.
She has an absolute right to say what she wants, tweet what she wants and vote for whom she wants. Having said that, when you are a celebrity and publicly opine on topics about which people are very passionate, there should be no surprise when people get pissed off and attack you for your opinion. It is the nature of the beast.
ReplyDeleteChuck Norris and Toby Keith are white and they get all sorts of backlash for being conservatives (and they are much more outspoken about it than Bruce....just like Stacy is).
The death threats, etc. are obviously over the top... but there's no accounting for idiots.
She can vote for whoever she wants. People are so ridiculous... I can't even.
ReplyDeleteI'm a middle class woman and a registered Libertarian. In a race like this, I typically vote either Dem or Repub to add an extra vote to the side I'd rather see. I'm voting Republican and I get so much shit because, like I said I'm a middle class woman. I didn't know being a woman made me a democrat by default. I also don't think the upper class sould support everyone, including myself
Off topic, but she recently did a straight to DVD movie about killer robots that's actually really good
ReplyDeleteAt the risk of sounding stupid, but who is Stacy Dash?
ReplyDeleteWell, I have some very educated black friends who DO seem to think that blacks have to vote for Obama. One of them, her teenaged nephew decided he's a Republican and she just about lost it, declaring that any black Republican must be self-hating. And this woman is a college professor...seemed pretty extreme and closed-minded to me.
ReplyDeleteHi @Jane, I'm a libertarian too! Seems like we are so few...the *real* Libertarians, I mean.
Stacey Dash is a black, female 'celebrity'. That's three reasons people assume to know what her vote will be.
ReplyDeleteI seriously never think about how anyone else votes.
DeleteI'm as liberal as they come, but i love libertarians. You guys are wild at parties, i tell ya.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Pogue. Reading around, though, I discover that she was once in a show years ago or something like that. I imagine she won't be slain for her Tweets.
ReplyDeleteI don't support attacking her with threats. That's insanity. However, people should be allowed to react to her being a moron. The GOP doesn't like black people unless your wealthy. Nor do they like women. Skip the racial stuff for a minute and consider every single thing the GOP has done or attempted to do to women's rights in the last few years as a distraction for Obama's record and to gain their own narratives in the media. Whatever her choice is, I am going to rail her for that based on being a woman and supporting people who are so vehemently against women. And worse, they're against women for political agendas and gains from the religiously stupid in this country.
ReplyDeleteI don't agree with the whole idea that because she is black she has to vote for Obama. Personally I do think it's really dumb when minorities and gay people are republican despite major efforts to silence or block their votes and rights. The Voter ID stuff should be a major indicator of why you shouldn't be republican if you are Latino or black right now but it is someone elses choice not mine. But I will say as I mentioned above, as a women, it's mind numbingly stupid to consider a party who is actively doing harm to women and women's rights.
I'm a strong Obama supporter, but getting death threats over who you're voting for is ridiculous. I mean who feels the need to go around threatening to kill people just for disagreeing with them. What morons.
ReplyDeleteSocialist society. We no longer have freedom of speech, thoughts, opinions, or ideas.
ReplyDelete"Socialist society"? What, you mean here, the US? "Socialist society"???? LMAO!!!!!!
Delete"Um, that word doesn't mean what you think it means."
"Socialist society." Hahahahahahaha, that's good. *snort*
Socialism does not mean you don't have rights or can't speak. I think u r confusing socialism with communism which is different.
DeleteWow...never before realized that I was mind numbingly stupid.
ReplyDeleteIt's okay. We can be mind numbingly stupid together. I always notice people who say others are not educated enough really mean, "You're an idiot, because you don't agree with my view of the world."
DeleteAgree with Wen.
ReplyDeleteBlacks aren't voting for Obama just because he's black. That only adds to it. They vote for him because he's a democrat.
ReplyDeleteIf Herman Cain were running against Hillary Clinton, blacks wouldn't be voting for Herman Cain.
As a liberal, I cringe when I read stuff like this. I think most liberals know this is unacceptable. People should be able to vote for whom they want without receiving death threats and nasty emails.
ReplyDeleteOy, politics.
Stacey Dash played Dionne in Clueless. It's classic.
ReplyDeleteExcuse me, I do NOT wear polyester hair!
Sorry B. When it comes to women's rights and this voter ID crap, prove me wrong. But my opinions on the matter don't negate that I will support anyone's right to vote no matter who they vote for. No matter if I think it's stupid who they are voting for. People should be free to vote however they want to even if the GOP is actively trying to stop that.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDelete@ Chris, Not to mention Obama had to earn the black vote in '08. Every prominent black leader supported Hilary because of the Clinton's long standing relationships with the black community. They put their money where their mouths were and supported black rights and causes for many years. Obama was an unknown and appeared to have no shot at winning in the beginning. So he had to campaign and earn the vote.
ReplyDeleteWas she in that Diana Jenkins book or am I mistaking her for someone else?
ReplyDeleteWell Jolene, one only has to look at the attacks on women to see where I am coming from. People can vote for whom ever they want to vote for. But people have a right to react to that too. Women's rights are under full on attack from the GOP. You support that, you are part of the problem. Voter ID is also the scariest thing to happen to our constitution since the Patriot Act and NDAA. I have no tolerance for women who vote against other women. That's pretty much what a vote for the GOP stands for these days. Disagree with that assessment okay fine but I am still not wrong that women's rights are under attack.
ReplyDeleteI'm a totally 'stupid' 'moron' too apparently. I'll just be over here clinging to my God and my guns if you need me...
ReplyDeleteI'm with ya, ButterKwup.
ReplyDeleteWow...this is a sad sad world when you are not allowed to vote for who you believe in. No more freedom of speech, it's you do what I say and what I feel you should do or I will threaten your life. No matter what or what you believe in, I completely disagree that a person has the right to speak their mind by threatening someone's life. If you want to disagree with the candiate...go ahead, but don't threaten a life because you don;t believe what they want.
ReplyDeleteAs for voter I.D. I'm all for it. If you have nothing to hide, there should be no problem. I've always lived in states that have had voter I.D. If the GOP wants to have voter I.D. in the swing states...bring it on. It will prevent the dead people from voting and keep candidates from being able to vote more than once for the same candidate.
@crila16- Exactly! I have to show an ID every time I order a freakin' pizza. Picking public leaders is slightly more important!
DeleteThere hasnt been any examples if voter fraud in like 40 years. This is fixing something that isnt broken. The system in place was working fine. These measures were specifically targeted tiwards potential obama voters. How do i know that? Repubs have stated ut, on video tape. So thats wrong.
DeleteI don't really get why celebrities think they need to make such a federal case out of who they are voting for. Voting booths are private for a reason. I'm not saying people shouldn't support a candidate, but why should I care any more about who she supports than the person sitting next to me on the plane. I know who I'm supporting and don't feel the need to shout it from the rooftops. I don't think anyone besides me is probably interested in whom I'm voting for, and the same should go for these "celebrities." if you can even call her that. She is really hot though.
ReplyDeleteLiberalism and racism don't really go hand in hand.
ReplyDeleteRepublicans and dirty tricks, however, are joined at the hip.
The country is full of crazy, hate-filled people, so I'm sure plenty of the ugly tweets were from legitimate douchebags.
However, I'm sure plenty were the work of minions of Karl Rove (in their hearts if not in their occupations) who just want to make Democrats look bad.
Can someone please explain (nicely, if possible) what the outrage is regarding Voter Id? I live in CA, and when I would hand my ID over to the poll workers they would act as if it was on fire or something. "No! No! We don't need that"
ReplyDeleteI'm not trying to have a GOTCHA moment here. I really want to know. I believe you need a government form of id to get a job, or even to enroll your kids in school, right? (My kids aren't school-aged yet, so please correct me if I'm wrong). Is it about homeless people maybe not having a permanent address? Please enlighten me :)
Voter ID witch hunts have turned up like one dead person through a computer error on the registry. It's been proven that what they are looking for happens on such a minute scale, it's absurd to be doing this and claiming those reasons. It's being targeted on poor neighborhoods and minorities. And beyond that Romney's own people were busted on hidden cameras only registering pro Romney voters which is illegal. If there was an effort to demand everyone in all facets get registered and get proper id's no problem. But not right before the election and only targeting certain minorities or known Obama voters. You need to do your research. It's not about having something to hide. It's about accessibility, fees and other issues that comes with changing the rules at the last second. Old people and poor people are most affected by this. Old for not having to have new id's since they don't drive or travel outside of the US as much. Poor people since they don't have the means to take off work or travel to DMV's that could be miles away from them. Not to mention the story of the lady who did go to register, having to take off a full day of work because the DMV purposely dicked her around and made her wait 4 hours to get a simple walkers ID. When you need to work for every penny, that stings.
ReplyDeleteShe can say what she wants and tweet what she wants but lisa raye will still kick her butt like she did before she got canned from that show.
ReplyDeleteSunny, it's not about the ID's per se, it's that they are targeting specific areas and neighborhoods and right before the election when people have no time to adjust or the means to correct their situations. The GOP claims voter fraud yet the instances of fraud are so low and miniscule that it's blatantly obvious that it's meant to scare voters away. They are not doing this federally, they are doing it in specific pro Obama areas and in swing states. Older people who haven't had to have newer ID's or poor people who can't get to DMV's. If there was an effort to do this last year or after last election, and nationally, it wouldn't be a big deal. It's how they are doing it now that matters.
ReplyDeleteThe issue is that you're not LEGALLY required to have an ID, and getting one usually costs money, so requiring it to vote counts as a voter tax. A lot of elderly and poor people don't have an ID, and in some cases it's difficult to get one, etc.
ReplyDeleteYou know how when Enty does a Scientology post, some posters come out of the woodwork and start talking up Scientology? I've got a feeling the same thing is happening here with some political posters.
ReplyDeleteyou're not stupid if you're a woman who's voting for Romney.
ReplyDeleteyou can do whatever you like but have fun apologizing to your children, especially your daughters, because they will deserve an explanation about why Mommy didn't do ANYTHING when she had the chance to solidify women's rights in 2012.
I mean, aligning your political beliefs with Elizabeth Hasselback can't be bad, right???
These people attacking Dash weren't Obama supporters they were trolls. When are people going to realize that trolls are trolls? They don't have political or social agendas. When they see a situation like this, they start sending death threats and attacks for ATTENTION and "we" keep giving it to them by reporting on their behavior and pointing the finger at the other group.
ReplyDeleteBy far the smartest comment here......(ROUND OF APPLAUSE)
DeleteI was going to attempt to engage Candice in discussion, but it is evident that she is one of those liberals who would just stick her fingers in her ears and scream "LalalaFauxNews...LalalaNewtGingrich..." etc. Instead of one with whom one could have a great debate. Thankfully most of my liberal friends fall into the latter category.
ReplyDeleteSo I'll just sit back and be mind-numbingly stupid because it's not worth the effort.
I wld like specific voter fraud instances. Id love to hear it. And the aim of same cannot be refuted, as they are on video saying exactly that.
DeleteSorry, not voting for Romney there's just too much at stake to have a wishy washy liar as President..
ReplyDeleteWell put Jax.
ReplyDeleteI unfortunately do think people are stupid though. But I ask no one to agree with me.
Voter I.D. is when you have to show an I.D. to prove your address and your name in order to vote. A lot of states have voter I.D. already, but some of the swing states do not have voter I.D., which is tricky, because illegals, dead people can vote without having to show I.D. This would swing the votes illegally in the wrong direction...because people can walk in and vote more than once for the same candidate, making it an unfair election. To prevent this, the GOP is trying to guarantee that there isn't any trickery (on either party...yes...either party) so there is a fair election.
ReplyDeleteFor those who are anti Republican or anti Democrat are just plain ignorant. There are shady politicians on both sides...and if you think Obama or Romney haven't acted shady or deceitful in any way shape or form, you need to wake up. Politics is a shady business...which is why they are where they are.
Thank you, Eris and Candace
ReplyDeleteI'm probably coming at this from a middle class point of view, but I don't even understand how someone functions without a government id. I can't even get into the local botanical gardens without my id. Writing checks, using a credit card, going to the doctor etc.
Anyway, my opinion is that voter ids should have always been necessary, and when I do the last tinkering on my time machine our state's governments would ensure every citizen would have free legal photo id
Thanks again for explaining :)
You can't get a library card here without an i.d. It used to be just a piece of mail to your address, but that changed many years ago.
DeleteTwitter needs to END.
ReplyDeleteI fucking hate that thing.
Again @ crila16, the amount of instances of voter fraud is so low that it's ridiculous to launch this kind of effort to ENSURE the vote. The facts are that there were only 6 instances out of 1mil in Fl of dead people still on the books. If they had done this after the last election or done this last year and given people a reasonable time to adjust their situations, it wouldn't be a problem.
ReplyDeleteIn Penn, you had Romney surrogates announcing to crowds that Voter ID was to ensure a Romney victory. It's kind of hard to ignore their mindset on this.
One more reason to be GOP and NEVER be a democrat - Scandalous Candice.
ReplyDeleteThat's what the problem is Sunny. It's not free, it's difficult for a lot of people apparently to get. I agree with voter ID's. I show mine to vote. But the timing and the targeted areas are the issue here. And as I mentioned above there are Romney surrogates talking about this effort on camera as a means to bring Romney the victory. Also the registering of voters. Romney's camp has been caught on tape not registering Obama supporters. It's illegal to ask or deny based on who you are voting for. And then there are efforts and mailers being sent out telling people to vote on the wrong days. It's more than just getting people properly ID'ed. Or so it would appear.
ReplyDeleteAlso Crila16, I agree that there are corrupt politicians on both sides, but name one democrat guilty of voter fraud? Name one democrat who has tried to stop voting?
ReplyDelete@Candice...why are you so upset if they have voter I.D.? I think this is the least of our worries. The economy is actually my #1 concern. Voter ID would only ensure a victory for Romney in Penn, if it in fact was a vitory for Romney. It would all be done legally and fairly. I don't understand your point.
ReplyDeleteTo all the hand-wringers, and idiots who spew on about socialism and yet have never lived under it like some of us immigrants actually have - NO ONE is trying to take away her Freedom of speech. As an individual I cannot take away anyone's freedom of speech, I can call you an ignorant asshole, but it's only a loss of freedom of speech IF the GOVERNMENT tries to silence you by coming to your house and arresting you or having you killed, not some faceless d-bag on the internet or twater calling you out on some stupid shit.
ReplyDeleteShit are we Americans really that fucking stupid that we cannot tell the difference?!
I already said I agree with having an id to vote. I am not upset about getting people sorted. I think I have made that clear. It's the efforts and how they are doing it. If they had done this last year, in all states, or after last election this wouldn't be a problem. But when the GOP is saying we will make this happen for Romney and only doing it in certain places, it's more than obvious what's happening here. I am not against having an id, I am against changing the rules at the last minute to fuck people over on purpose.
ReplyDeleteThey want to do it in all the swing states. Not just certain areas. They're not screwing anyone over. They just want all places in the swing states to show I.D.'s. This is a very controversial election this year. It is neck and neck. They need a fair election, and voter I.D. will guarantee that for both sides. I think there should ALWAYS have been voter I.D. in all states. I've always had to show my I.D. in every state I've ever lived in...I think it's only fair that EVERYONE who votes shows an I.D.
ReplyDeleteI think she needs to vote for Obama because she has a vagina, not because she's partially black.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't send her a death threat though.
That's fucked up that's she's getting death threats but I think she wanted it bc like Enty said, nobody has mentioned her name in a decade and now here she is on Piers Morgan. Yes I hate racism and death threats especially when it's because of someone's PERSONAL OPINION but what pisses me off more than anything is when actors talk politics to sway their fans to vote for their guy. Who are these actors? At what ivy league college did they major in political science? They didn't? Just a community college acting degree? (I went to community college, no hate) but they have zero training in politics but they have cameras pointed at them recording every word that's then fed to us and we believe it bc we loved Clueless when we were a teenager? The worst is Susan Sarandon. I think she just has a drama degree yet she's a political expert. So I think the people making death threats on miss Stacey gave her the attention she wanted and maybe now she can star alongside LiLo
ReplyDeleteImpartial research on the fraud that is the Voter ID 'fraud': http://www.brennancenter.org/content/section/category/voter_id
ReplyDeleteInteresting story out of New Mexico: training to lie to prospective voters about whether they can vote:
http://www.progressnownm.org/blog/2012/10/attorney-general-launches-voter-suppression-investigation-after-progressnownm-exposes-poll-worker-tr.html
Virginia (I think it was Virginia) did it right. they passed the law, but also mailed IDs to every registered voter, free of charge. There was no undue burden on anyone.
(I'm honestly more worried about electronic machines that can be hacked.)
ReplyDeleteYou don't need voter id to ensure a fair election when there is virtually no instances of it screwing things up. As I said, FL had something like 6 instance of suspicious names, one which was a legal voter. That was out of 1mil. It's not an issue as I keep repeating that warrants this kind of scale. Not to mention the Romeny campaign caught on tape committing voter fraud by not registering Obama supporters. That was a blatant act.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.examiner.com/article/video-republicans-caught-committing-voter-fraud-only-registering-romney-voters
http://thinkprogress.org/election/2012/06/25/505953/pennsylvania-republican-voter-id-laws-are-gonna-allow-governor-romney-to-win/
Brilliant @Snapdragon. Thank you for sending the link. Very interesting. I agree about the electronic machines being hacked too.
ReplyDeleteI mentioned that too SnapDragon. About how mailers and phone calls are happening in again certain pro Obama neighborhoods telling people to vote on the wrong days.
ReplyDeleteI am not one for conspiracy theories despite what it looks like here, but there are plenty of facts to back up these targeted efforts. Let's follow Virginia's suit. Let's get everyone registered. Fairly and appropriately to their means. And within a proper amount of time before an election.
@ Booster Seat, thank you.
ReplyDeleteThe problem with any election is the side taking. Everyone accuses everyone else of being against them, and taking it to the extreme, instead of remembering that we can all do what we want for ourselves. Generalizations are a bitch, and lots and lots of people, both Dem and Repub use them against each other all the time. It's the nature of the beast. When people go off on a rant accusing me of something I believe because of my political affiliation, I just laugh and laugh. It proves what uneducated (because you don't know dick about me) morons you act like. Notice I didn't say are uneducated or moronic, because I think you're probably smarter than your need to politicize, but if you that, you act like assholes. I hope you still have friends after the election. I know I will, because I don't judge my friends or lump them into a supposed group. Generalizations are a bitch.
@ paris - Amen.
ReplyDelete@Candice
ReplyDeleteThe only issue thing I wanted to bring up regarding one of your statements was the woman who had to wait over 4 hours at the DMV for her photo id. Sometimes you learn the hard way (been there, done that) but in CA you will wait anywhere from 3 to 5 hours for anything you need at the DMV without an appointment. I wish more people knew about the appointments! You can get in and out in about 15 minutes
Ok - leaving this thread before it gets too nuts. Bye!
....and that's been the logic all along.
ReplyDeleteThe 4 hour debacle.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/09/17/1132802/-A-Philadelphia-woman-gets-her-voter-ID
@Sunny - we have the same appointment thing in Florida - well worth it!
ReplyDeleteI would point out there are a lot more issues out there other than woman's issues. Worrying about the economy is sexually irrelevant. When China decides to call in its debt, won't matter if you're male or female. Iran is 2-4 months out from having an atomic bomb - and Israel will soon be attacking them. It's a fair bet to assume we'll be helping out in some form. Which will bring a heightened threat of terrorism to our shores again. A dirty bomb doesn't discriminate against either sex. Please please look at the whole picture when you decide who to vote for. I'm a news junkie - read about 10 newspapers (online) a day, all the major news sites, about 10-12 news commentary sites. They may disagree on how to handle the different problems, but they all agree that there's some bad stuff coming down the pike. You have to take the whole picture into account. That's all I'm saying.
It's a shame respect is taken out of the equation when it comes to politics, religion, views, etc. Just because you are not a stereotypical member of that party, religion, or whatnot, doesn't mean you aren't entitled to your belief. Women have the right to disagree with Obama's politics, including abortion. What a life we live where we don't fit in a box, who knew!
ReplyDeleteWell said, SusanB.
ReplyDeleteIt bothers me so much that this election is being made a women's platform. Much larger issues at hand.
@Candice
ReplyDeleteI lied - I didn't leave (actually procrastinating another 5 minutes)
I might have different political views than you, but I have the utmost respect for people (such as yourself) who have researched and thoughtfully come to their held beliefs. I feel the same way about people's religious views as well.
So I ask this respectfully: I read the article you linked to regarding people who are more likely to not have ids (they named students, elderly folks and people of color). Don't you need an id for everything? College student? Need id. Taking money out of the bank? Need an id. Want a job? Need an id. Collect benefits? Need an id. Writing a check? Need an ID.
Perhaps it's a moot point and I need to move on and start a petition on getting every citizen free and easy access/legit access to a state id. You've been lovely about explaining things so far, so I thought i'd ask
You do need an id these days for everything, but in Penn, they made some whack law about needing a photo id to get an id. No longer can you go to the DMV with your BC, and your proof of address. These tiny details are where the problems are. I don't know how people got a long for so long without id in this day and age. But don't you think they should have brought this issue up after the last election and not now? I will support efforts that get people id'ed like VA, provided it's free or reasonably within their means. It should be free to begin with.
ReplyDeleteMost importantly . . . who in the world is following Stacy Dash on twitter?
ReplyDeleteThank you Candice. Last time I had replace a stolen drivers license in CA, they only asked me for my social security #.
ReplyDeleteAnd now I'll move on . . . (I hear the collective sigh of relief!)
If we want to bring up other issues, let's talk about Romney's taxes tax havens, his extreme lack of foreign policy and threats on Iran and Syria (Russia has warned us against involvement in Syria, that would provoke China too), His comments that he wants to be like FDR and have the means in this country to have two wars on two soils, Paul Ryan's plan to attack medicare and medicaid, Tax cuts for the rich, Paul Ryan and the GOP obstructionism against jobs bills that is further hurting the economy, The filibuster being used more times than any other sitting president in history, wall st. deregulation's...... I can get into any one of these subjects if you like. I personally brought up women and Voter ID in specific regards to Stacey Dash. It's not just about women's issues, although why that is not more important to other women is mystifying to me.
ReplyDeleteAgainst Obama: Bring up NDAA, Drone attacks, and Gitmo. I may be a liberal and an Obama supporter but he isn't without his own mistakes.
This conversation is about my opinions towards Ms. Dash and specific reasons. But if you want it to be about other areas, pick one and we'll talk about it.

Um, ok.
These two and just for fun these guys
Can you stop with the silly, over the top comments on voter ID now?
Your inability to understand that this is a state issue and Republicans aren't "doing it" in some coordinated fashion speaks volumes.
Paul Ryan's plan to attack medicare and medicaid, Tax cuts for the rich, Paul Ryan and the GOP obstructionism against jobs bills that is further hurting the economy
ReplyDeleteHysterical.
That was quite the run on sentence of lies you got going there Candy.
can get into any one of these subjects if you like
ReplyDeleteActually, you can do no such thing.
Your posts are a profile in ignorance and abject stupidity.
Against Obama: Bring up NDAA, Drone attacks, and Gitmo.
ReplyDeleteUm, you left a few items off there Candy. Let me help you:
-Added more debt than any 1st term President in the history of America.
-1.1 million fewer people working than in Jan 2012.
-46+ million on food stamps
-The worst "recovery" in the history of recoveries.
-Obamacare's $716 billion in cuts to Medicare begin on Jan 1, 2013.
You're stupid.
Geez, Jay. No need to be such a dick. You might not agree with Candice or like what she has to say and there's nothing wrong with expressing that. But dang, dude. No need to be so uncivil.
Deletelous Candice said...

Complete & Utter bullshit.
I live in PA, that is not what the law says at all.
Can you shut up now?
She lovessss white men. haha
ReplyDeleteYou tell me Jay. It's what a lot of voters are claiming and explained in that Daily Kos article. Explain it to me rather than making proclamations with out facts.
ReplyDeleteScandalous Candice said...
ReplyDeleteYou tell me Jay. It's what a lot of voters are claiming and explained in that Daily Kos article
Who cares what the Daily Kos article (which confirms your biases) says.
Let's go the statute itself:
Where the elector does not have a photo identification as provided for in subsection (a), the elector shall present for examination one of the following forms of identification that shows the name and address of the elector:
(1) nonphoto identification issued by the Commonwealth, or any agency thereof;
(2) nonphoto identification issued by the United States Government, or agency thereof;
(3) a firearm permit;
(4) a current utility bill;
(5) a current bank statement;
(6) a paycheck;
(7) a government check.
The election officer shall examine the identification presented by the elector and sign an affidavit stating that this has been done.]
You are being lied to.
You believe those lies because they confirm your biases.
"people should be allowed to react to her being a moron. The GOP doesn't like black people unless your wealthy."
ReplyDeleteI love this, she is a moron? It's "you're wealthy, not "your." Oh, the irony in that comment.
I am sorry, but I am a woman and I support the GOP. The whole women's rights issue is being used as a huge media distraction against even more serious issues, like the massive deficit. You think Obama and the rest of the democrats support gay marriage? Obama said back in 2008 he didn't support gay marriage and it's even video recorded. He defined it as being a union between a man and woman only. Sure, he changed his stance recently...for political reasons, not because he cares.
Stacy Dash being attacked for her opinion is disgusting and truly shows how ignorant people really are.
Under the PA law, Acceptable IDs include:
ReplyDelete--Photo IDs issued by the U.S. Federal Government or the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (including the Department of State Voter ID Card)
--PA Driver’s License or Non-driver’s License photo ID (IDs are valid for voting purposes 12 months past expiration date)
--Valid U.S. passport
U.S. military ID- active duty and retired military (a military or veteran’s ID must designate an expiration date or designate that the expiration date is indefinite). Military dependents’ ID must contain an expiration date
--Employee photo ID issued by Federal, PA, PA County or PA Municipal government
Photo ID from an accredited PA public or private institution of higher learning, including colleges, universities, seminaries, community colleges and other two-year colleges
--Photo ID issued by a PA care facility, including long-term care facilities, assisted living residences or personal care homes
If you do not have one of these IDs, and require one for voting purposes, you may be entitled to get one FREE OF CHARGE at a PennDOT Driver License Center
What are the requirements to get a Free ID in PA?
The applicant must fill out a Department of State application form and sign an oath/affirmation that they are a registered voter and have no other form of identification that can be used for voting. While the person waits, staff at the Driver License Center will contact the Department of State to validate that the person is registered to vote. Once verified, the person will receive the free Voter ID, which is only valid for voting and will be good for 10 years.
So no, no you do not need an ID to get an ID in PA.
You are being lied to.
I am the most liberal person you will meet but I don't agree with all the hate. She can support anybody she wants.
ReplyDeleteI have no argument for the WVA case except I myself hadn't heard about it. But they got what they deserved. I just wish republicans we're jailed for it too.
ReplyDeleteAdding more debt to an already mess is a tried argument. We all know what surplus we had and badly Bush destroyed that. It was bound to increase with military spending, outstanding debts to China, and decreasing taxes. Taxes have to go up in order for things to be paid for. Things like our roads, police and military. Military spending is also out of control. Not nearly enough going to the vets and pay but instead to outsourcing firms. Our soldiers barely have the right amount of gear. In WWII despite excessive poverty, our people paid higher taxes than we pay now. Obama's fault here was extending Bush tax cuts, and sustaining two wars we can't afford. But then again we pull out of Iraq where we didn't need to be in the first place and did kill Bin Laden. But Obama's continued drone attacks is only breeding more terrorism and no end to this mess in Afghanistan. Also, the jobs bills being blocked at every turn. Even republican initiated jobs bills were blocked when Obama agreed to them.
I noticed you had no words for the Paul Ryan stuff, just snarky remarks that add nothing. That's probably because every single credible economist has panned his programs. Even Romney did in the last debate. LOL!
How about not being rude and using typical fox news talking points and have a real discussion. You people moan about decorum but look who is being rude. I have been very fair and not insulting to anyone here. Just to Stacey Dash.
Then you have a bigger problem in PA then you realize if people are being turned away from getting id's with out another form of picture id. Still doesn't negate that there hasn't been one single issue of in person voter fraud in PA. So the need to get militant about voter ID there is a total sham.
ReplyDeleteLast comment because I don't have time to be here all day as fun as this has been, she may be with in her right to vote for whomever she wants, but I am certainly with in mine to call her out on it. She made this public declaration and people have the right to agree or disagree. Never to threaten though.
ReplyDeleteYou don't have to like a damn thing I have said here, but at least I tried backing myself up without being petty, or insulting to any of you here. And I did make the distinction that the women's issues aren't the only thing that matters, just my personal beef with women voting against other women or women's issues.
This is a broad discussion, lots of anger/passion about the issues on either side. But for the most part we agree that threatening is bullshit.
Protect the right to vote at all costs.
Candice - calling people "mind numbingly stupid" because they disagree with you IS petty and insulting. But agree - threatening is bullshit.
ReplyDeleteWhy does any post by Enty with the slightest hint of politics turn into a boring repetitive voter id argument? I thought we were discussing how it's wrong for Stacey to receive death threats for her political beliefs? Or as I read between the lines, pulling a Jessica Biel day out at the museum and trying to attract attention?
ReplyDeleteI dont agree with her, but Imc certainly not going to call her names of any sort. this goes over the line. As for Bruce Willis, I dont think anyone cares what he thinks. I dislike him independently of his vote choice.
ReplyDeleteI don't agree with threats or insults or racism. But as a woman, she should surely be worried about an extremist takeover of the country by the crazy right-wingers who seem to be gaining so much power in our country. Voting for them seems like a vote against our civil rights, and particularly our hard-won rights as females. My opinion.

ReplyDeleteWasn't Stacy Dash the girl that Himmmmm mentioned as being a drug addict who paid the bills by being a very expensive escort, always carrying in a briefcase her Playboy pictorial for interested guys?
ReplyDeleteI do remember that she still looks great, while she was already 28 when she did "Clueless" and she has a truly exceptional ass (and I'm a man, in spite of the alias here).
That was my first thought as well. Put her on the list with Hayden as forever tainted

ReplyDeleteI'm a liberal that supports President Obama and wouldn't trust Mitt Romney to run the country any more then I'd trust Amanda Bynes to drive me to work in the morning, but Stacey Dash and every other American citizen has the right to support whichever candidate THEY wish to. That's the right we ALL have. Death threats!? People who write these need to seriously act like adults and grow up.
ReplyDeleteI do not get this voter ID thing. In Canada, you HAVE to show government-issued ID in order to vote in local, provincial or national elections. You also have to be on the registered voters' list. The workers have a complete list of registered voters for their area and cross your name off the list when you show your ID.
ReplyDeleteBTW, just to add fuel to the flames, Scandalous Candice is awesome. :)
Stacy (I think it was Stacy)--it's hard to believe, but in this day and age, some people don't have ID. There are some elderly people who don't have birth certificates.
ReplyDeleteThere's an interesting, eye-opening passage from this article (Tomgram: Jeremiah Goulka, Confessions of a Former Republican). Don't let the title scare you off--it's a pretty interesting self-examination.
Summary: guy is assigned, in NO just after Katrina,to accompany a school field trip... to a sit-down restaurant. "What kind of a lame field trip is that?"he asks himself.
That night, I told my roommates about the crazy thing I had heard that day. Apparently there were people out there who had never been to something as basic as a real restaurant. Who knew?
One of my roommates wasn’t surprised. He worked at a local bank branch that required two forms of ID to open an account. Lots of people came in who had only one or none at all.
I was flooded with questions: There are adults who have no ID? And no bank accounts? Who are these people? How do they vote? How do they live? Is there an entire off-the-grid alternate universe out there?
From then on, I started to notice a lot more reality.
In theory, I'm with you--but I question the motivations when so many of these pieces of legislation have ALEC's fingerprints all over them.
Blah blah blah democrats are socialist blah blah blah republicans hate women. I can't wait for this election to be over. It really doesn't matter which corporate pawn is elected, it's just going to be the same shit with a different way of bull shitting the American people. I'm casting my ballot for Goldman Sachs.
ReplyDelete@andy I think u really are my highschool crush and you're turning into my prince charming. Let's run off together?
DeleteDeal!
DeleteBetween some of the comments on here and some of the comments I had to listen to at a conference today, it's not surprising that the U.S. is losing its status as a super power. Wow. Just...wow.
ReplyDeleteI love it when we all get to fighting about politics. The name-calling, hair-pulling, "Hitler was a lib" and "You have to be a fool to vote for Fill-in-the-Blank." Ah, political bickering.
ReplyDeleteI think JAY is my old hs crush......Damn, lay it OUT.
ReplyDeleteVery, Nicely done :)
I'm not sure why anyone is surprised by this - after all, it's quite obvious that Stacey Dash is in league with Satan in order to stay so young looking - so why wouldn't she be voting for Romney?!?
ReplyDeleteDoes Jay ever post comments on Random Photos or take stabs at Blind Item guesses? I mean it's a Free Internet, you can post on whatever you want, but I think it's odd that I only notice their posts arguing with others on political posts on a Celebrity Gossip Blog.
ReplyDeleteDon't remember seeing Scandolous Candice either. I'm assuming she's a Democratic plant with all the quick links, etc. But what do I know? I'm mind numbingly stupid because I don't think with my vagina.
ReplyDeleteVoting is a CONSTITUTIONALLY protected right.
ReplyDeleteCashing checks, driving, flying, going to the botanical gardens, etc. are NOT constitutionally protected rights. If you don't have an ID and want to do those things (and can't), that is your problem.
Doing anything to interfere in a person's constitutionally protected right to vote is illegal.
Preventing legal voters from voting in some, at best, misguided attempt to prevent (virtually nonexistent) fraud should offend every single one of us as Americans.
People fought and died for our right to vote freely. Any subversion of that should be met with anger and disgust.
SMFH.
As a bystander who is not American but very interested in politics, I have to say it seems politics in America is very divisive and polarising which is very unfortunate. But American politics interests me as its a world power and the outcome would affect matters in the world. Just my point of view, I find Obama's tenure to have been rather underwhelming. This was a guy who seemed like a messiah who was going to bring changes like never before, but I can't say I can say that happened. I also understand he is no magician. Back to matters at hand, people should learn to respect people's choices that's the whole point of democracy. I have a lot of American friends who are mainly black, and from their discussions the bottom line the reason they are voting Obama, is becos of his race. Personally, I believe voting whilst be based on the candidate's race, gender, religion etc, but rather on his platform and what he can do for country first and you second.
ReplyDeleteWow. All evening I've been reading "Well, she is Clueless" comments all over the web. Stacey is not clueless. She's a mother and woman with her own mind, values and opinions. I don't understand why a number - not all - of my fellow liberals can't grasp this? The negative response and backlash Stacey's been receiving has left me sad.
ReplyDelete@jay *swoon*
ReplyDeletei know i'm joining this thread really late, but i'm a female, college grad, living on the poverty line, hispanic..... conservative libertarian and i will never let the government do anything for me.
agree with @sasha, obozo has had too many wasted opportunities to do great things. he's bombed 6 countries while in office (noble peace price, really?) and we're in a depression.
let's let someone else take a shot. better yet, let's fire congress and get some honest, hardworking people who will represent their constituents.
@T.E. Cuz...
ReplyDeleteI have an honest question. Being a libertarian, I assume you are for smaller government, correct? If that is true, how can you support a candidate who wants to tell you, as a woman, what healthcare decisions you can make? Respectfully, it seems to me that government telling you what you can/can't do with/to your body is big government intrusion at the most basic level.
And again, respectfully, you said, "i will never let the government do anything for me."
Government does things for you virtually every moment of your life....You have cheap, plentiful electricity, water, gas...because government either provides or subsidizes it (or both). You drive or ride on roads/in public transportation that tax dollars (government) pay for. The food you eat is subsidized and made safe by government oversight. Gas and food are cheap because of subsidies and price supports, paid for by tax dollars. Your college education was subsidized in some part by public tax dollars (even if it as a private institution). When you watch TV or listen to the radio, that too has been paid for, in part, by government....
My point is, the government does things everyday...for EVERYONE. Including you.
To non americans and others: yes , american politics involves yelling, discussing, hollering, talking subjects to death- like a famiky. We hear out everyone. We all feel free to say whats on our mind. Then, like a family, its done, and we stand behind our elected official. Sure, we criticize. Its all part of the joys of democracy. I dislike people getting cynical and opting iut-'whats the use?' Thats the lazy way out. We arent looking any candidate to be a messiah. We are looking for the best leader we can.
ReplyDeleteLola and Candice are right.
ReplyDeleteAny impediment to vote is against the constitution, and arguments about voter ID solving fraud are pretending there's a problem to neatly fit their desired solution.
"They are doing it in all the swing states." No, REPUBLICANS are trying to do it in all the swing states, because that is who it helps. Poor, disadvantaged people tend to vote democrat if they vote, and poor, disadvantaged people are those least likely to have a valid ID or the means to acquire one. If you walk or ride your bike everywhere because you can't afford a car, are you going to afford to take time off of work to take the bus to the out-of-the-way DMV to buy a license that you otherwise don't need? If you bounced around foster progams as a child, do you have your birth certificate? Requiring a goverment ID is an impediment to voting. IF voter fraud was a real issue, and IDs were free and easy to acquire, it would be no big deal. But the push to do this now, to "solve" a problem that doesn't even exist, favors those with stable upbringings, good jobs, and resources. And that favors one side more than another. It is not a politically-neutral goal.
lol no but she should probably vote for Obama since Romney will probably bring some sort of slavery back...
ReplyDeleteoh i know, sorry. lol
but death threats & racism isn't ok. mind you, neither is magic underwear.
Long time reader, first time commenting though...
ReplyDelete1. I don't think anyone should get death threats, especially for something like stating their political opinion in a free country
2. I think people should throw less crap at the president/potential president and SO MUCH MORE at the Senate/House. Half the time they're the ones doing stupid shit, and the other half of the time they're the ones bickering to the point of never getting anything done.
The level of hysterics, hatred and defiance that has been permeating US politics for the last 10 years is so sad to watch. Nothing good will ever come out of it.
ReplyDelete(and this hysterical, impending doom, all-or-nothing attitude was brought first by the conservatives)
I can't help but wonder how many of these people who threatened her are even registered to vote or plan on voting. You'd be surprised (or maybe not) at how many people don't plan on voting because they don't like either candidate or just can't be bothered to read up on them(too lazy).
ReplyDeleteAlso, there are people who have moved to different towns and never went to the town/city hall to transfer their registration to the address of their new residence and/or missed the deadline.
They're always the first to bitch about things but never bother to vote and it amazes me.
