In a new interview, Gerard Butler says that he wants to make it clear that he did not go to rehab for booze and that he has not had a drink in 15 years. He says that when people say he went for drinking that it makes him really angry. He then gets really coy in Men's Journal about why he did go to rehab. He says that he was taking a minimal amount of pills and that he went for pain management after his surfing accident. So, basically he had a prescription pill addiction and couldn't shake it and needed to learn how to deal with pain and kick the pills at the same time. He is so clear about the booze thing but so quiet about the pill thing. It is almost like it was written for Kneepads except they would have just ignored the booze thing completely.

ReplyDeleteHe has to be able to get insured for movies it isn't in his best intrest to scream what a raging pill head and coke head he is to the media. I also believe he hasn't had a drink in 15 years. When he was on Howard Stern promoting Machine Gun Preacher he was very clear about not drinking after his dad died.

ReplyDeleteMy gf was in Betty ford with him. It was coke .. She said he never mentioned pain killers and was adamant even in treatment that he wasn't drinking. She and I were in a 28 day program together and she left the day we got out for BF.. I consider her a reliable source

ReplyDeleteI dunno about the booze thing, i remember reading first hand reports that he HAS been drinking since the 15 yr mark but *shrug* I guess its only an issue or point of curiosity because he insists he isn't. All power to him though, I hope he keeps fighting the good fight.
ReplyDeletere: ads- if you're Chrome web browser please try simple ad block it works like a DREAM along with the flash block extension. works really well (the adblock 2.5 45 that is top of the chrome webstore when you search for adblock extensions is a mess. doesn't work as well as simple ad block- not affiliated with any of these just thought I'd share.)
He doesn't drink...he's got Hep he's not damaging his liver worse......it was for cocaine.
