Danny DeVito & Rhea Perlman - Rhea Got Tired Of The Cheating

I don't think anyone really ever thought Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman would split. They were perfect for each other and after three decades together you would think they would go the distance, but it just is not meant to be the case. Does anyone in Hollywood ever go the distance anymore? The couple married in 1982. Hey, how do you want to celebrate our 30th anniversary? Lets get divorced. The couple have three grown children together. I'm going to be really upset if Danny starts going out with some 6 foot tall 19 year old model. I expect it though because he has not always been the most loyal of husbands when it comes to looking the other way for some female companionship. Must have learned it from his buddy Arnold.

  1. I assumed it was his drinking.....do attractive women really sleep with him? He's a cube.

  2. Hey libby, me too!

The drinking gets tiresome to live with, trust me. Kids are grown and maybe she thought now was the time to move on.

  3. Arnold? What about his best bud Michael Douglas? Douglas is not a paragon of fidelity either.

  4. TWINS! One of my favorite bad movies. A true classic. I loved watching Danny go on talk shows to promote his limoncello booze cause he'd always be smashed.

  5. You know, I'd say at least 1 in 5 of the girls I know don't consider monogamy all that important in a relationship.

All this tut tutting gets tiresome, given the fact that pretty much everyone in Hollywood 'knows what's up.'

    1. Sounds like someone got busted...

  6. mikey, not only is living with a drunk tiresome, alcohol's an effective way to change a person's personality completely, over time.
(I have a few drunks in my family, as I'm sure many here do.)

I still can't get over the idea of DeVito 'groupies'. He's talented--but not sexy

  7. I have to say it: I guess it's not sunny in Philadelphia anymore.

  8. Oh man the thought of sleeping with him is just eeeewwwwww!!!! Seriously, it has to be the booze because I just cannot fathom him hitting on chicks and then taking them to the hotel!!! Has to be hookers???

  9. Haha poor Danny copping all these bad comments about his looks on this post. ITA through. Totally gross, would never go there even if I was a gold digger. Good on his Rhea for having the strength to leave whatever the reason was.

  10. I read they were together or dating for 11 years before they got married, so they were actually together 41! That's a lot to throw away, hope they are both happier in the end.

  11. One of the best Sunny episodes involves his character wanting to marry a hooker and the gang trying to stop him. I just started watching the show and it is hysterically disturbing.

  12. Who watched Batman Returns and thought, "You know what, I really wonder what it would be like if the Penguin was naked and on me," and then went out and found out? I know, fame and money, etc., but how does he get laid? The man looks like a Cabbage Patch Kid came to life.

  13. Anyone remember his drunken appearance on The View about six years ago?

  14. Rejected, can't believe you just found Sunny - sweet Jesus, it's awesome! Hubs and I are upstanding citizens by day, and secretly disturbed Sunny fans by night.

    1. My ex was a huge fan and after we broke up, the show reminded me so much of him but I got over it. The show is too funny!

  15. A lot of times the "official" announcement takes place long after the actual split. Jessica Lange & Sam Sheppard were many years over when she popped back in to the public view big time with "American Horror Story". To prevent public curiousity building leading to PR problems as why devoted long time partner Sam wasn't her red carpet companion, the split was then revealed. In real life, they hadn't lived together in years. As always ; M

  16. Since they haven't been in the public eye for a while, they've probably been split for years.

  17. When you're rich and/or famous, women couldn't care less what you look like.

  18. They have been together since she guested on Taxi as his love intrest. It is sad but I have heard repeatedly that he cheated. A shame. They have a reputation as a loving giving couple to others. Sorry to see this happen. Guess no reationship is perfect.

  19. I've never seen that Sunny show - I'll have to give it a try.

Wasn't there a blind a while back about a long term couple possibly breaking up because of his drinking? I thought the popular opinion was these two. It's too bad.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Nope, their relationship predates Taxi - they got together in 1970. I don't really understand the point of splitting up after 40 years. I mean, they were together for 12 years before they got married and she stuck it out for another 30 after that. She had to know what she was marrying, and stayed married to, all that time!

  21. @Chris if you could take off the bitter woman-hating glasses for like 2 secs you'd come to the realization that your dumbass comment is in reply to....women who are grossed out by his looks despite his being rich and famous. Man, hate makes people stupid as hell.

  22. Maybe Danny and Rhea are just bored. They've been together for a really long time, and maybe they are both like yanno what? Let's see what else life has to offer.

@Susan - only the first two or three seasons are worth watching. It's become a parody of itself.

    ReplyDelete
  23. @ Chris, I really couldn't care less about his fame/money - I would not sleep with him!

  24. Bizarrely, I've had a crush on Danny Devito since I was a kid. My parents used to tease me about it. And now I'm thirty, and I still totally would be into it... :(

    ReplyDelete
  25. @SusanB, I was wondering the same thing. I seem to recall a blind, not too long ago, about a couple who has been together a really long time, who was splitting up, and we would be really surprised at who it is. I can't remember if there was drinking involved.

  26. When the cast of It's Always Sunny did a tour of The Nightman Cometh, Rhea accompanied them on piano. This split makes me so sad!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Funny is always sexy. I hope Rhea finds someone who appreciates her. I think Danny has had one too many lemoncellos.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Agree, prob the cheating and drinking. Mb she figured, I want to be peaceful and happy now. As gor getting the ladies, ive heard he has great personality and is alot if fun. Sad tho.

  29. I would imagine that he is charming and hysterically funny...that is sexier over the long term than any six pack (unless said six pack is accompanied by charm and humor). I can totally see how women would be drawn to him.

And like it or not, Chris' comment is immanently true for many women and it doesn't take being a woman hater to know it.

  30. In her autobiography, Marilu Henner was emphatic that Danny DeVito was in fact the sexiest guy on the "Taxi" set, she would have loved to have dated him had he not been so devoted to Rhea (at least at that time, I suppose), and that he might just be one of the sexiest men she'd ever met, period.

Looks and sex appeal just don't always go hand-in-hand. Name a not-conventionally attractive star, and I personally would take him over, say, Brad Pitt or Clooney any day. Humor, for one, is incredibly sexy, and DeVito's all over that. *shrug*

  31. Sh't, I'd do him. But then my standards have always been low. Just ask my ex.
    ;)

  32. @AKM
This is refreshing to hear. I'd choose a lonely night in with run down batteries to Brad Pitt. Humour does win. Still, it wouldn't hurt to be roaring drunk when Danny Boy comes knockin'.
    :)

  33. Now who's going to speak for the trees?

    ReplyDelete
  34. i love them both...(matilda!!!) but honestly i just can't wrap my head around itty-bitty-roly-poly devito getting his cheat on.

    my mind. it's blown.

  35. Awww, that sucks.

Funny works for me! Would I get it on with an old dude who is short, not attractive but hella funny? Hell yes...IF he was single (and didn't stink to high heavens and/or wasn't totally gross).

This just makes me sad, though.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I've always thought she was quite attractive. Maybe now she'll find someone else; even at this age she still have a rockin' figure.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Don't get me wrong - I am all about the funny - I actually think Gene Wilder is so sexy!!! But I am just not attracted to the short fat man!! Would I have a drink and some laughs with him? Absofigginlutely!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Gee, if these two kids can't make it work forever I don't think anyone can.

I have a friend who males lemoncello and tangerinecello and that stuff is so wicked and insidious. You put the bottle in the freezer and it gets all slushy. It's delicious and packs a wallop.

    ReplyDelete
  39. @AKM - Amen.

Danny is witty, accomplished over tremendous odds, funny, and charismatic. I can see many women being attracted him

    ReplyDelete
  40. OMG - @Roman Holiday - I have ALWAYS had a thing for Gene Wilder. ALWAYS.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Roman and SusanB- I too have a thing for Gene! He's so funny!

  42. WUUUUUUUUH?!

So you're saying there is actually a chick out there...who would consent to........OMG...I'm gonna pass out!

  43. I dated a guy 10 years older than me in my very early twenties and then again in my mid-twenties (same guy) he was short, not terribly, but about three inches taller than me (5'5). He was on the thicker side and balding. People just couldn't understand... He was the funniest, most loving, generous guy I had ever met. He was like this to everyone, in fact there were a few that did not like me because we were dating. In the end the addictions that he had ruined us, multiple different ones. But, looks aren't always the most important thing, you do have to hang out with the person too. :)

  44. No matter how many years spent together, if it's true, she deserves to try somthing new.

    ReplyDelete
  45. If he regrets letting her go, I hope he cleans up, sobers up, and then finds her and gives her the Love is the End of Happiness speech and it works, like it did on Taxi.

I think of the premise of that speech a lot.

  46. Yes, WUWT? !! I am obsessed with "Taxi" right now, and I just watched that episode. Wow.

    Now I'm even sadder. :-(
