It is the new war on naked babies! :) Banning shows like toddlers and tiaras YES Thinking it's weird or wrong for a BABY to be in a normal baby bathing suit NO.
Goheels83- did you mom never put you in a bathing suit?
I have photos of me when I was maybe 1 in an adorable pink frilly two piece bathing suit is that wrong? I would hate to not have those photos of me, or in the future my child.
Luvgossip- I am assuming your friends PUT that on the internet right? They could just email you and their other friends directly. That's what I do. I totally get what you are saying and that is a little cringeworthy.
Would I, no. Do I think others can do what they want? Yes, like naming her baby that completely RIDICULOUS name in the first place. To each their own. But she's a cutie and I'm sure Jessica loves her very much, which is all that matters. There are a lot of things celebs (and others) do to kids that are much, much worse - see Amanda Bines, Lindsey Lohan - and this isn't one of them.
Madlyb, the sexualition of children has been in full swing for like 20 years now and THIS is the result. In my world, you would never even THINK to dress a baby in a suit-probably not even a diaper depending on the situation.
I forgot people in the West would consider this pornographic or...i don't even know-what's the problem with this???
i dont like little girls in bikinis. My daughter was a little chubster and her in a bikini was not happening. Shes 4 and she still doesn't wear one because i think it sends girls the wrong message that they have to show themselves off for no reason at all. Also, I was chubby growing up at well and i wore one and got made fun of. I wouldn't want that for any girl no matter how skinny or fat she is.
Theres so many weirdos out there that you dont want people thinking perverted things about your daughter or trying anything either. Thats just my opinion tho
A baby, sure - I don't even think it's weird when babies are splashing around in just a diaper (gasp, topless!). As the kid gets a little older, I still don't think bikinis are wrong, as long as they're not posing in provocative ways. That's where I draw the line.
Awwwww, what a cute snuggly little woogums! I love the little faux-hawk, too!
Considering that it's not unusual to see babies stark naked, a bikini on one really doesn't bother me. As for the wrong kind of people getting "ideas," well, they're going to get their ideas no matter what, and presuming that you're not sexualizing your kids a la Toddlers and Tiaras (which is going too far IMO), you can't run your life based on someone else's not-OK kink. Now, you could put the poor kids in burkhas, but, while they might be good for sun exposure, it's not going to matter in the long run re: pedophiles. Presuming that you're a good, conscientious parent who keeps an eye on the kids and does your best to keep them safe, I say don't worry about what they wear. (This comes from the woman who, as a 3-year-old being potty-trained, once stepped out of her soggy undies and ran outside to see her mom helping customers at our roadside tomato stand, wearing nothing but a t-shirt and carrying said soggy knickers. And yes, my mom did impress upon me gently but firmly that we really shouldn't take our pants off in public...)
My daughter is getting ready to turn 3 (sniff, sniff) and she would much rather wear a 2-piece. It's so much easier for her with potty training, etc. Cannot believe we live in a world that this is frowned upon now... When I was her age I ran around the neighborhood without a shirt and I turned out just fine (I think!) ;)
LMAO @ Folgers!!! she is a cutie and her Nana probably knitted that suit for her:) Perverts are going to get their thrills whether they see baby's in bikini's or not. What is this world coming to..........
We use a two piece, but it's a bikini bottom with a wetsuit type top. Less sunscreen to worry about. I don't use bikinis on my little girl but I don't judge those that do
She is adorable! My girls when they were little wore one pieces but I would have put them in bikinis if we found one that cute! It is much more upsetting to see them in their bikinis at 15. Those things are designed to cover very little. :(
I'm not a fan of bikini's on LO's the thought of the sun on their sweet tummies and all that..
And, fwiw, I do cringe when I see friends post photography pics of their babies/toddlers in bloomers and not much else. Especially when they are on instagram.
I don't know why anyone would put a little girl in a bikini. Then again I only have boys. As long as they are happy and safe that is what matters. I think most moms know there are disgusting people and we need to protect our children and not sexualize them. Now I can't help but think of those abercrombie bikinis for 9 yr olds that said "wink wink" on the crotch. Gross.
My family has naked pictures (for blackmail purposes I assume) but they did not have twitter or facebook. We are more exposed than ever before.
I think that's cute. They aren't even outside, I get the feeling Jessica will only let that child outside covered from head to toe for protection. Good job posing her to cover up the diaper, you can barely see it.
Agreed! I came to say same as Robin Mad Photog and you. And pedos get off on just seeing kids at the beach, playground, whatever - just doing normal stuff. You can't live your life around that!
The baby is actually adorable. It's not a sexy photo...and it's looks no different than a baby in diapers...except the chest area isn't even exposed, like it would be in a daiper commercial.
...so yes. I would let my child pose in a bikini at that age. she's adorable.
She is adorable! My girls when they were little wore one pieces but I would have put them in bikinis if we found one that cute! It is much more upsetting to see them in their bikinis at 15. Those things are designed to cover very little. :(

My daughter, now 7, has worn bikini's since she was just over a year old, but only in our back yard or at my parent's pool. If we go to a public swimming area, she's in a one piece or a tankini. I think she's absolutely adorable no matter what she's wearing but I also know there are some sick people in this world and I'm not going to let her be "exposed" any more than I have to. Jessica's photo doesn't bother me.... that baby is cute as a button.... and when kids are this tiny it doesn't really matter. But when she gets a bit older...yeah, her mom might want to rethink the modesty issue. Just for privacy and protection.
A few days ago there was a pic of a naked baby (though that one wasn't posed), and no one even remarked about it. I don't see the problem with this one either. It's not like she's stuffed the cups or anything. It's just a (cute) baby. If you want to see sex in it, your mind is warped, not Jessica's.
Very cute. My first thought was "how long 'till she pees in it and it has to come off anyway". Didn't see the diaper until some smarter person pointed it out. I'm from Britain where as toddlers we were changed on the beach in front of everyone. I still remember the sand in my little ruched backside one piece.
One can plausibly argue that a bikini's main purpose on a mature adult or young adult female is to draw attention to the areas that are covered up by it, and that they (bikinis) exist not simply to enable a girl or woman to swim or catch a tan, but to attract the opposite sex. It is more than arguable: it's so obvious that it's not really worth arguing to begin with. That having been said, a bikini on a newborn or toddler IS pretty fucking weird. Just as it would be weird to see a baby in a thong, or with painted fingernails/toenails, pierced ears (or a pierced NAVEL), with a "tramp stamp" (above their ass-crack, for example), or with "alluring" grown-up makeup on. Pictures of naked babies on their blankies don't even COMPARE to the weirdness of this kind of shit. We are, collectively, the anecdotal frogs being slowly boiled to death, not in water, but in our own fucked-upness. Media (and our obsession with it) are to blame, folks. We need to start wising up...
I wldnt put bijini on my baby either, but thats her business. she's adorable. My daughter just made the unspoken rule no 2 pcs bathing suits, then doesnt hv to explain as she gets older. granddaughter 6 now, shes fine with it.
I just became a mother to a little girl. I don't reallydig bikinis on little ones. Like other posters said there are some seriously.disturbed people who get off to that shit. Its disgusting but its reality. So I'll keep my little girl covered up (shes fair skinned anyway, less surface area to burn). Jessicas daughter is adorable though.
Honestly, I don't see what the fuss is about. As long as she's healthy, happy and writes a tell all when she hits 18, what's the big deal? Back in the early 60's, my infant sister had a skimpier bikini. Is it sexualizing? No, it's a BABY who happens to be female. Albeit I have issues with her imminent exploitation, I stick with my original belief, that as long as she's happy and healthy, it's all good. (And we get the tell all when she hits 18)
It's unfortunate that we have to worry about pedophiles coming into contact with our kids, but I do NOT think we should change our behavior because of their issues. Keeping a watch on your kids is enough, living your life and managing your kids' life focusing on the dangers will take away some of the joy and foster paranoia.
I actually envy the attitudes in Europe about breasts. Not such a big deal, shown on billboards, tv little kids even Princesses going topless sunbathing because perhaps it's more comfortable, no tan lines, etc. It's just a body part. Sometimes I think this country is still too puritan and then so judgmental about others' choices. It reminds me of how some middle eastern women have to be so covered to protect men from their lustful thoughts.
And yes, I realize I will be very much in the minority posting this.
IMO- if a pedophile is going to look, they could get just as excited by a one piece as they could a two piece. Or even clothes for that matter.
However, I wouldn't put pics of any of my children out for public viewing. Hell, I don't even have a Facebook. I think if i want you to know what im doing, or want to know what someone elae is doing i would call you My mom does have a Facebook however and she asks me if it's ok to post pics of my kids.
I remember when my oldest (12) was almost a year old and I would put her pics up on a website catered to moms and their babies. You could make an album and vote on the cutest pics and also lookup by name for friends or family. I would never do that now though.
Sometimes I get a little uncomfortable when I see little girls (5-10 ish) in triangle bikinis and bottoms that say "juicy" on the butt. That's at a different level and it feels a little creepy. But this is just a funny baby picture, I really don't see anything wrong with it.
I don't get why anyone would be upset over a baby pic like this or even a naked baby. I'd let my baby wear that, but I wouldn't post a pic of her on the Internet.
I know this may sound like an off-the-wall question, but I'll ask it anyway. How the fuck do you define a "bikini" for a BABY?????? She's in fucking diapers with a body shaped like pillowcase filled with creamed corn and tennis balls, as she SHOULD. SHE'S A FUCKING BABY!!!!!!!! Are we going to have these same debates of obscenity with people who post pictures of their female dogs dressed in "bikinis"???????? For fuck's sake, people.
The mainly men who put up a fuss about these types of things skeeves me out. Why are you looking at an infant in a bikini and immediately coming up with sexual connotation? Same with Toddlers and Tiaras. I definitely agree that some of those outfits are inapro-pro for young children. But that doesn't I am sitting there imagining these little girls doing crazy things in their sparkly pants. Maybe we should take some of the heat off the moms and put it on the creepers who are watching the show and making comments about how sexy the three year old little girl is. Ya ya the mom's can choose to not put their daughters on a public viewing block, but there is still no reason some old should be watching the show and fondling his semi flaccid hard on.
when my children were young I took them swimming from 3 months old. I have never seen a baby in a bikini. At such a young age they were a swimming vest for protection and to cover the nappy. To me these photo's are dressing the child up like a doll. The child is not given a choice to be photographed purely to show to the public.
I don't find anything wrong with the bikini or taking the picture for a personal memory, but I don't agree with Jessica exploiting her child to the media for attention or money for herself. The baby has a right to privacy and protection and her parents should be the ones assuring she has it.
OH MY GAWD baby in a bathing suit stop the presses! Send her to jail!!
For real though, what's the big deal? She's an INFANT. It's not like she's going to shake her ass in it and take tips. People need to find actual important things to worry about.
if i were a celebrity where i knew i was going to be scrutinized by well meaning, yet pious gossip hounds? no. for what it's worth, it kinda looks like a home made 2 piece. i'm seeing texture not textile. maybe knit? not crochet, i don't think. maybe a fan sent it to her and she's showing appreciation.
my ma knits and would make my girls the loveliest/sometimes goofiest creations. i would put 'em on once snap a picture, and wouldn't have to play the 'did they like it?' game.
The people that have posted comment like "this is weird, sexualizing or fodder for sick pervert" THAT mentality is the problem. PUTTING pictures on the Internet is everyone's person choice. You do not have to put a picture like this out there. Otherwise, why the hell would it be wrong for a baby to wear a garment? She is in her house, not in public.
Natalie Portmans baby was naked a few days ago in random photos and some people did make a stink.
I agree with those that said we need to be more like Europe in the way of tv and advertising. We allow violence on tv any time of day but a boob and oh my lord! Call the boobie police.
Yes there are sick people out there. Not everyone is and assuming everyone is, is very sad.
But I definitely fall into the category that thinks bikinis are weird on babies, toddlers and young girls. It's much more odd and less natural to me than seeing a little girl "topless" at that age.
I do think it's kind of a setup to suggest sexual qualities in a child before they exist...it just primes them to play the glamour game that ends up troubling so many girls - worrying about looks and weight and all that. I think given that most of what we discuss re:JSimps is about her boobs and weight, this is pretty rich she's jump starting her infant into that nightmare.
IMO the more you can delay that and encourage childhood innocence, the better. When my daughter asked for a tankini (she's 8) I did let her convince me, though... :)
I bought my gfs baby an adorable little undie/tank bra lacy set when she was preggo.. It was the cutest!!
No one complains when Ann Geddy dresses naked and semi naked babies up like flowers.. The babies didn't ask to be dressed like flowers yet they still look adorable..
s.. I don't get it.. It's a bathing suit and its flipping cute!
Baby in a bikini is okay. What is not okay is being someone in the public eye and posting those pictures all over twitter for all the sickos in the world to see.
It doesn't bother me. Like all mothers, she thinks her baby is adorable and wants to show her off. I'm picturing Jessica as someone who loves girly-girl stuff so we'll probably see her parading her kid around in all sorts of nauseatingly frilly outfits in years to come.
I think it's adorable. I don't understand what's the fuss all about. Noticed she's still wearing diapers underneath her bikini. Take off the top and people wouldn't even notice she's wearing a crocheted string bikini bottom. It'll look just like any 'normal' baby pic.
its fun to dress up babies! but i don't post pictures of my kids online, no matter what they are wearing. this picture doesn't bother me, she's a proud mom. but honestly, if her dad had postes it, i might feel differently.
Our girls only wear bikinis for practical reasons. Have you ever tried to stip off a one piece to change a swim diaper then get it back on?? Next to impossible task.
For all of the Helen Lovejoys out there screeching about how bikinis on babies are a sign of the Apocalypse: I just turned 46, and there are baby pictures of me in an orange dotted-Swiss two-piece suit. As far as I can tell, the world has not come to an end because I wore a bikini in my infancy.
there are so many actually important things to worry about, this isn't one of them.
ReplyDeleteIt is the new war on naked babies! :)

I wouldn't.

ReplyDeleteI think it's precious! Babies hate clothes anyway. She'll be in just her diaper in no time anyway.
ReplyDeleteI want to Zerbert that belly!!!
I see a cute baby, but then again, I'm not a pedophile so not sure what they see.
ReplyDeleteyes...that pic is adorable.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't, but it's because I'd be worried about all the extra skin to put sunscreen on.

Same with Toddlers and Tiaras. I definitely agree that some of those outfits are inapro-pro for young children. But that doesn't I am sitting there imagining these little girls doing crazy things in their sparkly pants.
ReplyDeleteMaybe we should take some of the heat off the moms and put it on the creepers who are watching the show and making comments about how sexy the three year old little girl is. Ya ya the mom's can choose to not put their daughters on a public viewing block, but there is still no reason some old should be watching the show and fondling his semi flaccid hard on.
Sorry, longer post than I intended.
when my children were young I took them swimming from 3 months old. I have never seen a baby in a bikini. At such a young age they were a swimming vest for protection and to cover the nappy. To me these photo's are dressing the child up like a doll. The child is not given a choice to be photographed purely to show to the public.
ReplyDeleteUmmm...baby in a bathing suit....what's the problem??? She's adorable....
ReplyDeleteI don't find anything wrong with the bikini or taking the picture for a personal memory, but I don't agree with Jessica exploiting her child to the media for attention or money for herself. The baby has a right to privacy and protection and her parents should be the ones assuring she has it.
ReplyDeleteEmEyeKay- hilarious:)
ReplyDeleteI would. So cute!!
ReplyDeleteOH MY GAWD baby in a bathing suit stop the presses! Send her to jail!!
ReplyDeleteFor real though, what's the big deal? She's an INFANT. It's not like she's going to shake her ass in it and take tips. People need to find actual important things to worry about.
Also, that is an adorable face!
My reaction: "Awwwwwww! So cute!!"
ReplyDeleteif i were a celebrity where i knew i was going to be scrutinized by well meaning, yet pious gossip hounds? no. for what it's worth, it kinda looks like a home made 2 piece. i'm seeing texture not textile. maybe knit? not crochet, i don't think. maybe a fan sent it to her and she's showing appreciation.
ReplyDeletemy ma knits and would make my girls the loveliest/sometimes goofiest creations. i would put 'em on once snap a picture, and wouldn't have to play the 'did they like it?' game.
She's a baby and it's not like the top is padded with a push up effect. Jeebus!
ReplyDeleteShe's a cutie patootie!
Flip- you are not alone! :)
ReplyDeleteThe people that have posted comment like "this is weird, sexualizing or fodder for sick pervert"
ReplyDeleteTHAT mentality is the problem.
Baby Melita is super cute!
ReplyDeleteBut I definitely fall into the category that thinks bikinis are weird on babies, toddlers and young girls.
That baby is adorable. I second the zerbert!
ReplyDeleteI bought my gfs baby an adorable little undie/tank bra lacy set when she was preggo..
ReplyDeleteI don't like the bikini, but I don't think this is a big deal. Cute baby!
ReplyDeleteSelock - Baby Melita !! Very funny.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't bother me. Like all mothers, she thinks her baby is adorable and wants to show her off. I'm picturing Jessica as someone who loves girly-girl stuff so we'll probably see her parading her kid around in all sorts of nauseatingly frilly outfits in years to come.
ReplyDeleteShe's adorable. I don't see anything wrong in that picture.
ReplyDeleteA bikini and a 2 piece bathing suit are two different things. There's no need for a baby or young girl to ever be in a string, triangle topped bikini.
ReplyDeleteFWIW if someone is into children it matters little what they are wearing.
ReplyDeleteI think it's adorable. I don't understand what's the fuss all about. Noticed she's still wearing diapers underneath her bikini. Take off the top and people wouldn't even notice she's wearing a crocheted string bikini bottom. It'll look just like any 'normal' baby pic.
ReplyDeleteIt is cute, but I agree with those who have said that girls are sexualized early enough as it is.
ReplyDeleteI hate that is even a question.
ReplyDeleteits fun to dress up babies! but i don't post pictures of my kids online, no matter what they are wearing. this picture doesn't bother me, she's a proud mom. but honestly, if her dad had postes it, i might feel differently.
ReplyDeleteThat is an adorable bb!
ReplyDeleteOur girls only wear bikinis for practical reasons. Have you ever tried to stip off a one piece to change a swim diaper then get it back on?? Next to impossible task.
ReplyDeleteFor all of the Helen Lovejoys out there screeching about how bikinis on babies are a sign of the Apocalypse: I just turned 46, and there are baby pictures of me in an orange dotted-Swiss two-piece suit. As far as I can tell, the world has not come to an end because I wore a bikini in my infancy.
