Wycleaf Jean Says Fugees Split Up Because Lauryn Hill Lied About Baby

Wycleaf Jean has a new book out and according to The New York Post, Wycleaf says in the book that the reason The Fugees split was because he and Lauryn Hill were having an affair. Wycleaf was married and having sex with Lauryn. She got pregnant. She told him that the baby was his, but it really wasn't. She had also been sleeping with Rohan Marley and when Wycleaf found out the truth, the group split. "She could no longer be my muse. The love spell was broken." Was it love or lust? Anyway, the group split.

  1. I dont know, but The Score is still a great album!

  2. I tried reading that excerpt this morning and ... man, does that marginal one-hit wonder have a big ego or what.

  3. It's spelled Wyclef. Sorry for the fruitless correction but it was going to drive me crazy if I didn't say it.

The Score was great and his first solo album, The Carnival, was great, too. Sadly, I'm not surprised by this. Lauryn Hill has proven herself to be all around crazy.

  4. There is no excuse for lying about the paternity of child, but I hesitate to feel any sympathy for a married man having an affair with an involve woman who is shocked he got himself into a paternity nightmare.

  5. One hit wonder? You and I remember the late 90s very differently, Barton. ;)

  6. Ah, the 90s ... I did have a lot of fun in the last century, that's true. I can only remember him charting once.

  10. My gripe with the Fugees is that their one BIG hit, or at least the one I recall, was just a cover of a Roberta Flack song. And Roberta did it better.

  11. "She could no longer be my muse."

WTF kind of crap is that?

  12. Yele Haiti - his charity- was one of the biggest scams in Haitian charities, and that is saying a lot. Shameful man.

  13. When asked for comment Lauryn Hill quoted Queen Victoria - "I am not a mused".

  14. Please, the only sane one amongst them has to be Pras because between Lauryn and her cray/tax issues/marriage to that Marley and Wyclef fleecing the public after the earthquake in Haiti, it seems like attracted like.

Anyway, after The Score, Lauryn gave us The Miseducation of...; just about a perfect album. I can't name a Wyclef song that wasn't released to radio to save my life, so he can have a seat with his long suffering wife and tell us what really happened to those charitable donations.

  15. Isn't there a country song called "Your Wife's Been Cheating On Us"? And why, oh why, does Mrs. Jean still put up with him? *sighs, shakes head*

  16. I'd hate to be the wife of a guy whose "muse" is someone else. That just sucks.

  17. That's what I was thinking @frufa. I don't doubt this story at all.

  19. Last night, I think it was Salon, that had an excerpt online from his book. He was involved with Lauryn before he got married, and claimed to be in love with both of them, but got married anyway. The affair stopped for a while, but started up again once they started touring.

He sounds like a real prize.

It IS damn near a perfect album, even if she IS out of her tree.

  21. The sad thing is he's only talking about this because of the book. That irritates me!

  25. The Miseducation of... is one of the best albums of all time. Easily.

Wyclef is still an egomaniac though.

  26. what comes around goes around it sounds to me like wyclef jean can dish out heartache but cant take it.... and what was that he said about her being his muse.... um last i checked she was the talent. a muse is an inspiration she was way more than that back then...

  27. There was an article about this in Rolling Stone years ago. Lauryn's album The Miseducation... is basically all about her relationship with Wyclef. Others saw that she was suffering in that relationship and tried to hook her up with "a nice guy" in order to distract her and help her get over Wyclef. They picked Rohan for her , not knowing he was already married himself.
