Why don't they just call it the "Modern Family and Mad Men Win Everything Show"? Isn't that how it usually turns out?
On a less snarky note, I worked in the cable biz for many years, starting out when it was still not even remotely taken seriously by the broadcast industry. They used to laugh at us (I know because I worked in broadcast first). It makes my heart swell to see how far cable has come in programming and production excellence. No networks have dramas nominated. Hey, networks, who's laughing now?
I've never seen Breaking Bad and everyone raves about it. I just don't have the desire to watch it. I love Downton and Game of Thrones. I'm so butthurt that Peter Dinklage didn't win.
I can't believe I'm watching this, and obsessed with celebs in general, I need a boyfriend lol. I think its so much how these actors take themselves so seriously, the "dramatic acting" is just serious faces hahaha. Btw, Hayden P was just on, and seemed so bored and no energy, I keep thinking about Himms stories on her
Love Downton, watch it online so I don't have to wait until January. Never seen Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Walking Dead, Homeland, True Blood, or Game of Thrones. Seems to late to get into any of those shows now.
Mayflower and Ms Good: Whew so glad im not alone! @Maggie: I'll never be able to look at her without thinking of Himmmm's story... I instantly get sad when I see her or hear her name.
I tried watching a few episodes of Breaking Bad but it didn't do it for me. I love Jessica Lange in American Horror Story so pleased to see her win. Oh look, Jessica Chastains dad is now on ;)
Ha ha Audrey. You missed the joke. Looks like Homeland won tons. A lot of these shows I can't see because we don't get premium cable (please refer to previous posts as to me and OP's blatant cheapness). BUT I can get them at the library for free. I typically don't watch the Emmy's but I have enjoyed these. And I thought Kimmel did a good job. Amy Pohlers bewbs looked nice and natural, everyone overwhelmingly mentioned the talent of the other actors they beat out and while yellow looked great on Julianne Moore the bodice was not a smooth enough line for me. I wish They had a category just for shows from the UK and I thought Ricky Gervais was the funniest of them all.
I watched football, but did a few flip overs to see Julia LK win and wonder what Stephen Colbert meant by saying "One of the good ones won?" Tina Fey wasn't looking very happy. Amy Pohler and Tina's schtick was funny.
Can someone please tell me how to watch Downtown Abby? I searched the DirectTV guide and NetFlix and I got nada.
You can watch Downton on the ITV website as it airs or anytime after by using the ITV player and a program called Expat Shield. The program will slow your computer way down, so close all your programs for the hour that you watch DA. Or watch it via a site like http://www.free-tv-video-online.me/
Always run a quick scan with your virus protection after either option, just in case.
@S.Joy I've never seen Downton either - and I'm a Brit!
Second time this week that a reference has been made to British people 'taking' American tv jobs. I assure you there are quite a few Americans on British tv. Personally I see it as a positive.
I watch and like Modern Family but I don't think they were deserving really of the wins. Sherlock should have won something. I didn't watch Hatfield and Mccoys but I fast forwarded through those acceptance speeches. So happy for Aaron Paul's well deserved win. This goes for The Daily Show and The Amazing Race as well. The biggest snub to me still is that John Noble of Fringe has never even been nominated. That man is just endlessly impressive on the show.
Really, they should call the comedy awards the Modern Family awards. I am going to have to say for me, the best dressed woman was Lena Headley...I am sure her dress wasn't to everyone's taste but to me it seemed to be just her style. Perfect for her. Best dressed man: Richard Madden, hands down. Best dressed couple: Tie between Aaron Paul and his fiancee and Jon Hamm and Jennifer W. Worst dressed woman: Lena Dunham...she is too pretty for that dress. Whoever put her in that should be fired. Worst dressed man: hurts me to say this, but Kevin Costner
The cast of modern family has given me so much joy via television. They are so deserving of every award they get. Such a witty show. Can makes me smile :-D
Julie Bowen looks radiant. I was TOTALLY pulling for Merritt Weaver though. her character Zoe might be my very favorite on TV.
ReplyDeleteI hate the way they give themselves awards!!! They pat themselves on the back way too much!
ReplyDeleteExactly why I don't watch awards shows, too much smugness for my taste

LOVE Julianne Moore's dress.....
ReplyDeleteAgreed Roman!
ReplyDeleteYes I noticed llcooljay is the only network guy up for sexiest man all the others are basic cable or premium!

ReplyDeleteI think they should close with the comedies because they are the best TV has to offer IMO
ReplyDelete@B626...love the flashing martini glass! I just polished one off.
ReplyDeleteEdie Falco looks good! I am sad Amy didn't win, also her bewbs look great!
ReplyDeleteHer boobies do look great...perfectly proportional.

ReplyDeleteIm so embarrassed to say that I've never seen Downton Abbey... I must be the only person in the world who isn't obsessed with it! lol.
ReplyDeleteS joy, I've seen many episodes, but I'm not obsessed with it.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen it either.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen Breaking Bad and everyone raves about it. I just don't have the desire to watch it. I love Downton and Game of Thrones. I'm so butthurt that Peter Dinklage didn't win.
ReplyDeleteAgreed! He is way more deserving.

ReplyDeleteWhat happened to Connie Britton's face. At an angle it's ok but straight on it's rough. Was there a blind about this?
I love Jimmy Kimmel on his late night show but he sucks at hosting a prime time awards show. May not finish the show.....
ReplyDeleteMayflower and Ms Good: Whew so glad im not alone!

rejectedcarebear and Ms Good Intentions -- you're making me wish I had turned on the television earlier! Sounds like some kind of cleavage fest.
ReplyDeleteLove the audiences Breaking Bad love. However, hate their all losing the emmys...except Jessie, yo!
ReplyDeleteSo the guy directing the Emmys right new just won an Emmy?
ReplyDeleteHow is it Shameless keeps getting snubbed? Bogus.
ReplyDeleteAgreed Amber!

I think Amy Poehler and Louis CK were sitting next to one another and left early....I hope they get together!
ReplyDeleteDid Tracy Morgan just pass out?
ReplyDelete@MrsWife, if that is not the most amazing display of self-congratulation, I don't know what is!
ReplyDeleteThe HBO party is happening at my office, they've been setting up all week. It looks amazing, I wish I was charmed enough to go.
John Cryer should have thanked Charlie Sheen for winning his Emmy

Kevin Costner didn't kiss his wife. I hate that.
I'm so obsessed with Downton that I'm watching the British version posted on a certain quasi-legal website months before it airs in the US.
ReplyDeleteAnd what is with all the Brits coming over here affecting our accents and talking all our acting jobs?
ReplyDeleteNicole Kidman looks amazing. I saw a photo online. Yay!

Damian Lewis won!!! He is a fantastic actor and sexy as hell.
ReplyDeleteAnd I have never seen Downton Abbey.
Seeing Terry O'Quinn in the commercials for 666 Park Avenue made me miss LOST all over again. :(
ReplyDeleteHoping Modern Family backlash doesn't begin!

ReplyDeleteGame of Thrones should win everything. Oh and Homeland is deserving, I'm glad they won.
