Random Photos Part Three
I Tweeted this yesterday, but it is top spot worthy. The circle is showing you the earth in a photo taken by Voyager from 11 billion miles away. Voyager is just about to leave our solar system.
Carson Daly out with his girlfriend Siri. I don't know how she finds the time to do anything what with all the people who have iPhones and are calling her.
More Derek Hough swimming in Malibu photos.
Eva Longoria goes out to dinner with Mark Sanchez to make sure she jinxes his season and then
goes out to watch Serena Williams play at the US Open.
Hilary Duff goes out to Chateau Marmont.
Ireland Baldwin shows off her hill boarding skills.
After she fell, her dad called to criticize her.
I can see my house from there!
ReplyDeleteWow hill boarding looks Awesomn, and I thought she was just a spoiled pretty girl new respect for Ireland Baldwin!
ReplyDeleteThat Voyager photo is awesome. We're just a little blue marble in space. Makes you wonder how many other civilizations are out there.
ReplyDeleteSeriuosly, that voyager pic cld be anything, like those baby sono pics!
DeleteA bikini? Ouch! Don't fall down...
ReplyDeleteI love that Hillary Duff is acting like a real human being and not losing all of her baby weight in 2 weeks, but she probably could've thought twice about those leather(ish?) pants.
ReplyDeleteTotally, they are a miss
DeleteIreland is millimeters away from showing off some [insert slang term for ladyparts here].
ReplyDeletedjphob...personally, I like "the fine china"
DeleteThat looks scary! She's brave. Ahhh youth
ReplyDeleteDidn't LOLhan and Duff have a big teen feud many moons ago? Quite funny to see her turn up at the place lindsay is now banned from.
ReplyDeleteYeah weren't they both dating that little douche Aaron Carter? Lol
DeleteWow, Ireland is going to get a branch up the hoohaw if she's not careful.
ReplyDelete@funky - Hilary is about a 7 on a scale of 1 to Kim K. in those pants. Kim K. being "exceeds max capASSity". HD has always had a little meat on her - she's a cutie.
ReplyDeleteTotally cool pic of Voyager 2. For those keeping track, that's 36 years to get beyond the Kuiper Belt, generally considered the outer rim of our solar system, with no brakes/essentially flying in a vacuum.
ReplyDeleteNot to get too Carl Sagany, but that is how small our planet is. Given the size of the universe, there has to be another planet out there doing the same thing. Kinda freaks me out and makes me all the more curious at the same time.
Comma - that's way weird to think about. I can barely handle THIS world, let alone another one!
DeleteSpace! The final frontier!
DeleteIt is vet humbling indeed. Thanks for the info Conma :)
I actually think Duff looks FAB in those leather pants. Who says you gotta be a size negative 00 to rock them?
ReplyDeleteAs for that top photo OMG! I LOVE all things outer space, so for me this is like visual candy!
Learning about astronomy led me on the path towards freeing myself from all religious orgs. So to me, I associate mental freedom with pics like these. They show me that we DON'T know SHIT about what's really out there and there is an exhilaration in seeing every new discovery. The most prominent kings and queens in the past were not so privileged as all of us are, that we are able to see a view as magnificent and awe-inspiring as this :)
*Not trying to incite a religious thang, just sharing my real feelings when I see pics like these, sorry if I offended anyone~
Am I getting too old that looking at the Ireland Baldwin photo, I'm:
ReplyDeletea) annoyed at an Instagram picture; and
b) cringing at the exposed skin and possible road rash she could face?
Mark Sanchez is pretty hot, go Eva.
ReplyDeleteHilary is cute, but im not feelin that outfit on her.
What the heck is hill boarding? *off to google*
I don't get the Carson daly comments . But I'm also stupid.
ReplyDelete@Maxine yup. Over Aaron Carter, of all things.
ReplyDeleteHillary looks great, but yeah, not crazy about the pants.... and her baby is adorable!!! She tweeted (of course) more pics of him.
ReplyDeleteIreland is in for some bad scarring if she falls!
Derek H is just ugly to me.
@comma. For sure there are other civilizations "out there", but given the age of the universe it is entirely possible that they died out billions of years ago and all that is left for us to find (if we ever get the technology to do it) is ruins.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, much like the Mars picture of earth, the voyager one is really humbling. We humans really aren't all that fabulous.
@Anita_mark - complete agreement with you on both parts a and b. *cringe*
ReplyDelete@Amber - lmao!
Really though, the Carson Daly photo reminds me of a recent blind enty posted about a talk show host. I have holiday brain...too lazy to think further.
Ugh, Derek Hough is such an unlikable troll. He looks like the Creature from the Black Lagoon in that photo.
ReplyDeleteWould completely love to find life on other planets- and i dont mean amebas. I mean huminoids! Dont think there are, but hope im wrong.
ReplyDeleteyahoo is reporting that Michael Clark Duncan has died. Has anyone else heard this?
ReplyDeleteAren't those the same pants that Hilary wore on her last big night out a week or two ago?
ReplyDeleteI didn't know Carson was a father. And Derek has such a butterface :( shame because his body is rockin hot
ReplyDeleteThe infinity of space scares the crap out of me...... still awesome though!! We are so small!
ReplyDeleteThe Voyager pic is all kinds of awesome.
ReplyDeleteI must have read one too many Bizzaro Superman stories as a child, but I'd like to think that there is most definitely life on other planets. If it is in fact some rather upside down opposite form--I hope my super model twin is enjoying being stick thin and being 6 feet tall.
ReplyDeleteI totally get Hilary wearing those shiny muthas. After I had my babies, I couldn't get my goin' out jeans to fit for at least 6 months. Smart choice, lady (minus the choker. I have to address the elephant in the room)
ReplyDeleteI like the way Hillary is embracing her shape! No need to rush I mean hold old is her baby - I am pretty sure you can be pudgy for up to 2 years? I know that is generous but she's a new mom - very exhausting, she should not be worrying about her weight!
ReplyDeleteaudrey - I love your comment!
ReplyDelete@jasmine
ReplyDeleteAnd THAT'S how I wish people would present opposing viewpoints. Thank you for being honest and respectful
Sunny the choker comment is perfect! And I hear you, space nerds, I love this picture and thinking about our place in the universe
ReplyDelete@Basil. Indeed. The whole relativity of time and technological progress among worlds separated, would make it so difficult for humankind to find another species/life form, let alone one that could possibly hit the ball back over the net, so to speak, via transmission or . But wouldn't it be so cool if we even found ruins? I'd be so blown away by that.
ReplyDelete@Amber. Here's something that will possibly freak you out further, it's from my astronomy prof in high school: there are more stars in our galaxy than there are grains of sand on all of the beaches on Earth. Some of them we can't even see because the light from those stars hasn't even reached us yet.
Thanks @dia papaya. All the above should reveal I'm a bit of an amateur astronomer and have watched a few episodes of Star Trek, the latter occasionally abetted by recreational horticulture. ;-P
Is it Voyager or Voyager 2? Because I am thinking Voyager 2 type things....
ReplyDelete"Voyager 2 where are you now?
Looking back at home and weeping
Cold and alone in the dark void
Winding down and bleeping
Ever dimmer ever thinner
Feebly cheeping in the solar winds
I'll turn you up
Sail on sail on sail on
On past the howling storms
Through electric orange skies
And blinding methane rain
Sail on
I'll turn you up
Never bring me down to earth again
Let me blaze a trail of glory across the sky
Let me traipse across its golden high
Let me marvel in wonder and unfettered gaze
At the bigness and implausibility of being
...I'm thinking about mortality
I'm thinking it's a cheap price that we pay for existence...."
(yeah, I bought the album.)
Space freaks me out too if I start really thinking about it. At the same time I'm totally fascinated by it.
ReplyDeleteI think Hilary looks fantastic. She already looks like she's lost a ton of weight, but isn't losing it too fast. Just sayin'.
ReplyDelete@Sunny, LOL!
ReplyDelete@comma You might have already read these, but I have read a SF novel called Alpha Centauri by William Barton and Michael Capobianco. Earth sends a team out to that solar system hoping to find a suitable planet to colonize. Instead they find a dead solar system, and the remains of a civilization which expired billions of years before. Not the best written book, but the plot had me from the beginning.
ReplyDeleteYou might want to also try out Jack McDevitt's SF books. Throughout his various novels, humans come across several planets that are only ruins. He never elaborates on the creatures that made these ruins, leaving it up to the reader to use their imagination. I highly recommend his books.
Sorry for the thread hijack, but this is a fascinating topic for me and nice to find people who share similar views.
I'd be wearing something a bit more supportive than a bikini if I were Ireland Baldwin.
ReplyDeleteCarson Daly and Siri are going to have a girl as early as this week!
ReplyDeleteThe picture of our earth is incredible. IT really puts everything into perspective, no? And it also brings to mind that line Kirsten Dunst says in Melancholia, "there's nothing else out there, it's just us" -as the planet, or whatever is hurling towards our planet.
ReplyDeleteHillary Duff blind reveal?
ReplyDeleteJasmine- very well said.
ReplyDeleteCarson Daily- seriously DUDe. You have 2 kids with your girlfriend and you can't man up with a ring? I think it's kind of sad when a man will have, not one, two kids with a lady and not marry her. :(
