A few weeks ago I wrote about a rumor I heard where Khloe Kardashian was in the lead to host X Factor and predicted it would cause the end of the world as we know it and I don't feel fine. I figure if you are going to write a line that has an REM song in it, that you at least need to have the courtesy to somehow finish the rest of the line. Anyway, this is horrible news. Not just because it will give the swarm a real in to primetime network television, but also because people who are probably way better at hosting and have lots of experience are getting screwed because Simon Cowell has been told he needs higher ratings or the show is going buh bye. He has thrown everything into this season which is why he is so ticked off at NBC for throwing an episode of The Voice against X Factor. The show has become one giant stunt casting exhibition and when the show actually goes live and can't be heavily edited it is going to be one big train wreck waiting to happen.
No one actually likes Khloe.
ReplyDeleteI will be watching the Voice which has become my guilty pleasure. I love CeeLo and how wacky he is every week and Blake is hilarious. I don't mindthe other two, and Carson does a good job.

I like Khloe fine. In my extraordinarily limited experience in watching them on tv, she seems funny. Shoot me, but I kinda like Scott too (yeah, I realize is kind of a dick). The rest of them are insufferable.

ReplyDeleteI confess, I stood outside with the adoring crowd at Kardashian Khaos in Vegas when she made an appearance recently. $160 to get inside for a picture with her and no, I didn't do that. There was a big scene with the paps following a fake Kim who tried to get through the crowd, which I'm sure was a total set-up to create buzz.

ReplyDeleteI was flipping around last night and came upon an episode where Kim was insisting that she was the only child who was working in Robert Kardahsian's law office in the time leading up to his death. Khloe interjected to remind her that she (Khloe) was there as well, and the absolutely bitch-face that came over Kim's face as she continued to deny that Khloe was there was priceless. Kim was positively pissed that her selective memory was being called out on the record.
None of this is to say that Khloe is qualified (or "kwalified) to be on X-Factor, but if we could rid the world of all but one Kardashian, Khloe would be in my keeper league.

Simon is delusional at this point. The market is way over saturated with talent shows. AI, AGT, SYTYCD, DWTS, the Voice, Duets, something on E to be opening acts, and that's just off the top of my head. Simon's X Factor is doomed to fail... It's also easily confused with AGT due to the large X buzzers & judges. And they're all based on UK shows anyway.
ReplyDeleteI think Khloe will do ok on this show. She's had a radio show, all she has to do is stand and talk---the host last season was not very good (to the point it was pretty funny) so I don't see why she couldn't handle it.

I agree with Jaariel, its waaay over saturated. The Voice is the only show doing well right now. Besides, when has stunt casting saved a show over the long run ( Ellen, J-Lo)? The talent show format is dying fast. I think even with Mariah, Idol will be going off after the contracts are up.
