Jennifer Hudson Forgives Man Who Killed Her Family
Jennifer Hudson is a way nicer person than I am. Jennifer was on Oprah who made sure she had boxes of Kleenex ready and then started talking to Jennifer about the death of her family and her brother-in-law, who was convicted of killing them. The murders happened back in 2008 so it has been awhile since it happened, but when Jennifer told Oprah that she forgives the guy because it was not his fault, I was kind of blown away. I don't know if I could ever forgive someone who did that to my family. She said that during the trial when his past and his upbringing was brought up that she realized he did not really have a chance. Everyone has a chance. Think about all the people who grow up in the worst circumstances and how they make something of themselves. She is a bigger person than me.
Bless her heart for being able to say and believe that...I know I never could. She's a better person than a lot of us, that's for sure...
ReplyDeleteShe is a better person. I keep telling myself I forgive the people who killed my dad. Yet, one of them has been released and is living in his nice house with his big screen tv, while I am trying to make sure my children have food each week.
ReplyDeleteThe trigger man, by his own admission, had an excellent upbringing. It's the reminders that make it difficult to forgive.
Sorry angel fir ur liss. Think of it this way: no matter how nice his house, or big his tv us, when he puts his head on the pillow at night, he knows what he did. You didnt do anything like that. He has to answer for that somewhere diwn the line, you dont.
DeleteVery sorry Mischievous, How awful.
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of The Wire - no some of these kids don't have much of a chance.
By forgiving, she is able to live her life. It doesn't mean she forgets, she's not allowing the bitterness to hold her back. This is so cheesy but seriously that's an American Idol. While watching the names being read today, I feel horrible for the readers who break down and don't seem to be able to move on. You must find the balance of remembering and letting go of the hatred. I can't wait for tomorrow :(
ReplyDeleteExactly. Forgiveness is for the wronged person, not the wrong doer. I
DeleteWell said katsm
ReplyDeleteVery well put katsm07
ReplyDeleteBless her. I hope she lives a long peaceful life.
ReplyDeleteExactly @katsm. Forgiving is something you do for yourself. Whatever she has to do or tell herself to make that possible is okay.
ReplyDeleteNot to mention that some accused JH of being a member of the Illuminati and that she sold her soul to the devil in order to be famous by having the murder take place. This video was floating around on the internet and some actually believed it. Her family was murdered and she had to put up with that as well. She is a much stronger person than I imagined.
ReplyDeleteI really admire her poise and grace throughout this entire tragic situation.
ReplyDeletethis story just never added up for me...Enty do you believe in the Illuminati? Mind Control? Etc?
ReplyDeleteWow she is an amazing woman. I hope the rest of her life is filled with joy, peace and happiness to help balance out the horror she has been through with this.
ReplyDeleteIf you go through something as horrific as having your family murdered, you have to learn to forgive. Otherwise your a victim too. Bless Jennifer for doing what she did. Forgiveness is very healing!
ReplyDeleteI can't comprehend the level of hatred I would feel for the man who murdered my mother. So I can understand why she chose to forgive him and not carry that amount of hate through the years.
ReplyDeleteI am going to find more patience with all her weight watchers commercials. I am slowly becoming a fan of JH.
ReplyDeleteYes, everyone has a chance, but until you are brought up in hell like a lot of black people are, then you can't understand what she is talking about.
ReplyDeleteThe hood is a hard place to escape, it can be done but it takes a lot of variables.
I wish other races would go live in very very poor neighborhoods and witness 1st hand what I am talking about.
I think about it everyday as I drive through a gang territory and I pray for every person I see. I hate that I went to such good schools in my 90% white town but the town next to me is poor, where the minorities are forced to live for many reasons. And they have awful schools so their only hope of escaping is being a gifted athlete or joining a gang. I believe it's lack of an education that gives them hope for a future so joining a gang is all they have. I think about this every single day. Back in high school one of our deans was black and he subbed one of my classes. I'll never forget the story he told us 15 years ago. He and his black wife wanted to buy almost a million dollar house in the quiet, fancy section of my town where celebs can live quietly. They wouldn't sell to him bc he's black so he had his real estate lawyer make all the appearances and bought the house. I don't remember the sellers reaction but I still feel the guilt even though my family for generations has been against racism. So yeah, I do understand what you're saying @worstcompany :(
DeleteGood for her she chose forgiveness and that really frees the soul. But I got to say, that blaming one's childhood is a cop out in my opinion. Look at kids in Africa, who wake up not knowing if they would have food to eat.
ReplyDeleteJen hudson is proving to one extraordinary person.
ReplyDeleteYou do have to forgive and move on.I appluad her for being able to do so. It would take me a very long time and I thank God I don't have to do it. My heart goes out to you MAngel. Sending a hug your way.
ReplyDeleteYou do not "have" to forgive and the notion that "forgiveness" is somehow per se praiseworthy is utter bollocks. Lots of people grow up poor and otherwise deprived and somehow resist the urge to murder. This kind of "forgiveness" is averting your eyes from evil, taking the easy way out, surfing the emotion of the moment and overlooking that people were killed by this guy. It is totally his fault. The decision to forgive or not forgive should be a private one and not part of some publicity effort on Oprah. So grossed out by this.
ReplyDeleteThis is blunt: I would never, ever forgive someone who would do such a thing to my family/loved ones. A person that horrible doesn't deserve it. No matter the upbringing.
ReplyDeleteIt took a very long time for me to learn what the meaning of forgivenss really it. And yes, it's moving on, very empowering because you are no longer consumed with hate. It is NOT forgive and forget, it's just moving on. That said, I'm not sure I'm big enough to do that with a person who murdered members of my family.
ReplyDeleteSince Jennifer is the one who personally knows and is affected by the situation, she is the best one to know whether or not it is right to forgive in this instance. Even if its for her own peace, she's handling this tragedy the best way she knows how.
ReplyDeleteshe forgave him because she sold their soul for more fame. He just happen to be the fall guy. I see you Jennifer *wink*
ReplyDeleteThe man responsible for my mother's death is in a federal pen hospital getting better health care than he provided to my mom. Forgiveness is a process that I work on every day. I'm happy for anyone who can get there. More than ten years later, I'm just not there yet...
ReplyDeleteYou can choose to let your past define you, or you can define yourself.
ReplyDeleteI hope with the grace and gift of forgiveness that Jennifer has found peace.
I am glad she's gotten to this place. I have thought of her and her sister so often--and how hard a time they've had.
ReplyDeleteI hope Jennifer can help her sister heal as well--they've lost enough and both of them deserve some peace.
I saw Jennifer on TV today with her little boy--he is absolutely darling.
There is no other race but 1 = humans.
ReplyDeleteHOLY SHIT, Agentshit- we actually agree on something! awesome
ReplyDeleteAlso, while I dont want to hold onto hatred I also think saying it's not his fault is dumb. I couldnt ever walk in Jennifer Hudson's shoes regarding this issue but I dont think she's a better person than me because she's able to delusionally think his upbringing alone warrented him killing her entire family.
ReplyDeleteJasmine, the human mind WANTS to make sense of what doesn't make sense. Of course his upbringing didn't MAKE him do it, but if it helps her process the tragedy by seeing him as a person who struggled too rather than as a person who was evil, then it works for her in her healing, and it's not dumb or delusional.
ReplyDeletein my opinion.
WUWT?- this is a good, valid point.
ReplyDeleteFor what it's worth, I didnt mean to imply she was dumb, rather the link and connection was dumb.
But I think in this same point, if the human mind wants to make sense what doesnt, as you mentioned, then she is displaying therefore, some level of delusion for linking the two situations up in her mind.
Nonetheless, I get your point and I agree with what you're saying.
