Charlotte, you have warmed my bacon loving heart. I had received an e-mail from a reader named Martha the night before Kim Kardashian was supposed to visit Charlotte for an appearance. Here is what the reader said about the club. "Apparently she is going to be at Club Hush. No one here has ever heard of it - someone just told me it is on Independence Blvd, one of the sketchiest most dangerous parts of town. Everything else has been in uptown Charlotte or other nice areas. Just cracked me up that she is coming to town and will be at a place that is straight up f**king scary."
All I know is that for two hours Kim sat there and Tweeted and basically begged for people to come, but no one did. Only 50 people showed up to see Kim Kardashian. That is amazing and terrific and if every community across the world, not just America, but across the world would do the same thing, she would be gone. The band at the club even tweeted that the place was dead and empty. 50 people in a club that holds several hundred looks horrible. I love that.
I don't know if my state will get upcoming election right, but at least BC's got this right. Poor KK--not!

ReplyDeleteI live in town, and that venue has come in and out of business - it never succeeds (due to location). I honestly thought that someone was pranking the city by advertising that KK would be in town -- esp at a not-desirable location like this one. That venue itself has never been and will never be successful, I'm surprised they had any money to pay for her appearance.

From what I read on other websites, there was not enough advertising on the radio or anywhere. Plus the location left everyone suspicious. Anyway, not bad for two hours of work.

Obama had to tell Lindsay lohan to stop endorsing him last year. Lol. Anyway, the party was not listed anywhere on the DNC official website.

OMG I had no idea she was in town. That location has not had a successful club since long before I moved to Charlotte in 1995.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't call the neighborhood behind it "sketchy", it's not perfect, but not as bad as the other side of Independence.
Something tells me it's just one of her first glimpses into how much of her celebrity world is "padded" -- fake, bots, etc. If she wrote a book it would be one that her publisher would buy a boatload of copies of to put on the bestseller list. That's what this makes me think, that she got a peak behind the curtain.

I work there and wasn't allowed to tell anyone until the day of the event. Owner really didn't want many people to know and most people didn't even know the new location of the club. Her visit went off exactly as planned. Plenty of pics on twitter where she met with 250 *INVITED* guests and had a blast... Stayed almost 3 hours
