Sasha had to go play in Turkey this last year since no US team wanted him. They never saw each other and she wasn't going to spend a year in Turkey and give up her career for him.
Better to know now than have a disaster later after marriage.
@Gypsy. I have to disagree with your inference that being cheated on is an intrinsic character flaw of being a successful, powerful woman.
Cheaters come in both genders and at all levels of success and power. You could wait tables and marry a Roto-Rooter man, and one of you could still be a cheater.
Both of them have options - more than most. At her level of success, she hardly needs a man at all, and certainly has plenty of time to find a non-manwhore.
Em, I just emailed your gmail account. Hope you were able to get back in..This is obviously a possum from Australia? I thought all NA were whte and they certainly don't look this cute hence American fear of them.
Alex T, I agree with you. There are cheaters of both genders at every level of society. It just seems to me that successful, famous women are magnets for users. Sometimes they just have a blind spot for the freeloader sycophants.
This relationship was doomed when Sasha had to live/work on a different continent. Usually sport people have to have lovers that will travel with them.
I so wanted to jump on the possum thread, but there was some other discord going on and I refrained...my brain is mush from spending most of the morning catching up on comments.
We live in a tropical environment, as well...definitely have our fair share of critters. Hubby was taking out the garbage one morning, and found a mama posssum and her babies living in one of our garbage bins. The babies were teeny tiny, so we fed them for a few days and then laid the bin on its side, so mama and babies could safely leave. They were so stinkin' cute (in a creepy way, of course).
We have two large raccoons that use the pet door on our lanai, and frequently drink out of our pool. I also find them adorable.
@Gypsy - I agree with Vita19a's theory. He was a pro too, so I don't think he was just a toady who wormed his way to her heart. Their lives ended up in different directions for an indefinite period. That usually spells the end for a lot of relationships. (Even those world-touring roto-rooter guys.)
I posted this yesterday to the opossum thread, but it was very late, so I'll repost it here, since the topic has come up again, and maybe people will have a chance to see it, and laugh.

her boyfriend was famous?! in what country? and they broke since the last spring according to Vujavic who explains in a newspaper that it's why he accepted to work in Turkey
He played for the LA Lakers, so he was a celebrity in LA for sure. And I got this one as well if someone wants to go back and check. Bubbles knows her tennis and related court and locker room gossip.
Now I'm just waiting for the blind to be written about Andy Roddick and why he really is retiring.
MissMatador, I watch a LOT of tennis and that's always been the rumor. She's "dated" a lot of the male tennis players but something always seems odd when she does. like the year she and Roddick were supposedly dating during the Open, but when a reporter asked her what she got him for his birthday (which always falls during the Open) she didn't know it WAS his birthday. I smelled "PR setup" all over their romance at that point but just because it was a PR setup doesn't necessarily mean she's a lesbian, I suppose.
She never even dated Roddick and he confirmed it. The only other guy she's dated that has been confirmed is Charlie Ebersol and it was hardly convincing. The rumour is that she and Camilla Belle were in a relationship for some years.
She ex played for the lakers. How is he a celebrity!?
ReplyDeleteHer ex not she ex! Damnit!
ReplyDeleteIt is so sad that successful, powerful women cannot attract men who love them for themselves and can be trusted to be faithful.
ReplyDeleteSuccessful men usually can find faithful partners, successful women, not so much. Sigh.
I guess it depends on your definition of successful.I would think successful men found faithful partners in women who were successful themselves.
DeleteI had to look him up. NOT a celeb in my book. They could have just said 'boyfriend' and it would have been all the same. Meh.

OT for the possum lovers:

NEVER get involved with a male pro athlete. They are all hookers. Seriously morally unsavory characters.
ReplyDeleteI second that, @shauniebear. Won't make that mistake again!
ReplyDeleteSame here, sister!!
DeleteAnd the winner is
ReplyDeleteTomorrow got it ! at 10:18 am "sharapova is engaged to an NBA player...sasha vujocic"
Seachica had it but changed her/his mind to Venus ....

ReplyDeletelol@Shauniebear- I think most of us would agree that morals and athletes are more the exception than rule.

Are you sure that's an opossum? Looks more like a wombat to me.
ReplyDeleteTotally a possum. Wombats are ground dwellers, stockier and have short, stumpy tails.
DeleteThey're also so fucking adorable I could eat em all up! Possums are cute too, but wombats win :)

ReplyDeleteCan we trade US possums for the Australian kind?? I live in the south and possums are so hideous and rat-like, they scare the hell out of me.
ReplyDeleteLadies/Gents: I don't know about the possum, I found it first thing on Jezebel this morning, and after the convo yesterday, wanted to post it.
ReplyDelete@Sher: I'm searching for the password! xoxo
*squee* ;D
ReplyDelete...now I want to draw a possum. I was obsessed with kiwis the other day, lol.
I like American opossums! But I like rats, too, so maybe I'm not the best judge.
ReplyDeleteshow me a beautifull woman and I will show you a man who is tired of her
ReplyDeleteTheir split was announced this morning.
ReplyDeleteThere was another blind about her that she requires silence during sex and is overall selfish in bed. She does not seem likable to me at all.

Maybe this was what her " stomach virus" after the olympics was about that she didn't play for almost 3 weeks
ReplyDeleteher boyfriend was famous?! in what country?

I remember Serena or Venus Williams alluding to Sharapova being a lesbian a few years back. Am I the only one that remembers this?
ReplyDeleteHe played for the LA Lakers, so he was a celebrity in LA for sure. And I got this one as well if someone wants to go back and check. Bubbles knows her tennis and related court and locker room gossip.

ReplyDeleteHe was NOT a celebrity in LA. Being on the Lakers doesn't make one a celebrity.
ReplyDeleteI lurve wombats. They are about my favorite animal EVER!
ReplyDeletemmm Bubbles.. so why is Roddick really retiring?? :)
ReplyDeleteRoddick really has lost a few steps off his game and can't compete with the big dogs anymore.... I'm still on the fence on whether he is gay or bi...
ReplyDeleteI want to know where more of the tennis gossip is! I've played my whole life and would love to find more stuff to gossip about!
