will.i.am Debuting Next Single From Mars
Somehow, will.i.am and NASA have decided that will.i.am's next single should be released from Mars so tomorrow, Mars Curiosity will beam back to Earth the song Reach For The Stars and will.i.am will become the first person to have a single debut in outer space. He says he is hoping to see if there is any intelligent life on the planet. So, does that mean if they are intelligent they will run? Attack us? Ohhh, he means they will be intelligent if they like it. And they also have to tweet. will.i.am doesn't like anyone who doesn't Tweet. Or has the name Fergie.
Why? and I wonder how much he paid to do this. Why??
ReplyDeleteEntwood, this was on the Graham Norton clip you posted awile back. Will.I.Am had tweeted while carrying the torch and there was the British actress whose name escapes me - she told Will he was one of the few black people she'd ever met. I saw the clip here - so I'm surprised the song from Mars is news to you as he talked about it on Graham's show.
ReplyDeleteIt will probably sell better to the Marians anyway.
ReplyDeleteLawd if his crapmusic somehow annoys the Martians and they come and start holy war on us, I am sooo kicking Will I Am's ass.
ReplyDeleteThis fucker must be a land baron in Crazytown.
ReplyDeleteHe comes off like a douche.
ReplyDeleteHe is an ass. In other words a fool.
ReplyDeleteNasa asked him. When the ship lands, it beams a signal back to earth and the signal will be his song.
ReplyDeleteWill.I.Am was asked to do this because of his STEM centers. S(cience) T(echnology) E(ngineering) and M(athematics). He raises money for these centers to go into ghetto neighborhoods.
East Los Angeles is the first (where he's from). He raised 7 million dollars for the first STEM center.
His work with NASA is to inspire younger people to become interested in STEM education / technology. He's also talked with Prince William to introduce a STEM center in London.
I didn't know much about him but after this interview, I found him to be an interesting person.

@Montana... my thoughts exactly! I pictured evil Transformers attacking Earth en masse.
ReplyDelete@Tigercat - Thanks for the explanation. Because it's helping kids become interested in science, I can't hate on him for this.
ReplyDeleteHe doesn't like Fergie? Huh.
ReplyDeleteAstonishingly uninteresting.
ReplyDeleteHe also doesn't like women that have their on condoms, if I remember right. Good that he is raising money for STEM but he is a piece of work.
ReplyDeleteIf it makes young people more interested in science and space exploration, then it's a good thing. I don't think it is to necessarily promote his music--he's using his music popularity to bring attention to what Nasa is doing. Good use of his fame and power.
ReplyDeleteHe doesn't like Fergie? Really? (No sarcasm there... I thought they were pals.)
ReplyDeleteHe also doesn't like women that have their on condoms...
@lolaluvs2snack - He pings my gaydar big time. I'd be greatly surprised if he likes women (sexually that is).
Also, isn't he the one who tweets all the time? As in constantly? That speaks of a huge ego or something not quite right. Why would you imagine that the world is interested in every thought that crosses your mind?
Ugh! That's my pet peeve, when celebrities retweet fan compliments. Nicki Minaj, that's what she does ALL day, just sits on twitter retweeting fan compliments. It's so annoying. We get it, you have fans, geez. So self absorbed.

ReplyDeleteYou are so right :-)
Ever since he was on Graham Norton I kind of love him.
ReplyDeleteThat episode of will.i.am with Miriam Margolyes (sp?) was the most eye opening, shocking, and sweet portrayals of humanity. Those two were so cute together.
ReplyDeleteI didn't want to watch it (although I love me some Graham Norton) but have to say I came away having a whole new opinion of Mr. Will. He is actually very intelligent and wants to give back to his community.
He also said that he donated all of his salary from The Voice (500,000 British Pounds) to the Prince's Trust to help disadvantaged youth in the UK. His goal is to help young people build the skills necessary for tomorrow's job market - technology, science, math, computers, etc!
That's why NASA asked him for the Mars song. He is trying to help a new generation get excited about math and science. Things we really need in the USA if we want to stay competitive globally.
He's OK in my book!
AND Miriam went all grammar police on him. It was hysterical!!! She doesn't like when people use the phrase "It was like, and then I like did this", etc.
ReplyDeletewill.i.am said this about tweeting while running with the torch...
'That’s when I was allowed to Tweet about it! When they created the Olympics there wasn’t Twitter. The torch is a light and all I was doing was sending the light across the planet.'

OK. I found it. The clip is in the first few minutes. Then Miriam tells some funny stories. Get ready to pee your pants!

dia- what a great link ! OMG, she's a keeper:)
ReplyDeleteDia Papaya, I can't agree more with your post. Miriam and will were fantastic together -- definitely one of those lightning-in-a-bottle episodes, and so sweet. I'd love it even more if we were to find out that they're still in touch.
ReplyDeleteBritney on Facebook just posted a thing about will.i.am's Mars debut from the studio where she is working with him on a new single. That girl might be crazy, but she gets to hang out with will.i.am and she gets tweets from the Mars Rover, so I have faith in her. A little. Brit.
ReplyDelete@Lola and @diapapaya
ReplyDeleteLike I said, no real clue about Will.I.Am, but after the G. Norton clip, he got a pass from me.
I've tried to get friends & family to watch that episode because it's exactly as dia describes " eye-opening, shocking and sweet. Sometimes, when it feels like it's all hate on the media airwaves, I go back and watch it.
Glad Neil Armstrong didn't live to see this travesty. Is this what NASA has come to? So sad.
