Today's Blind Items - Kindness
It has been awhile since I had a Kindness to report and I think this one is really wonderful. I would say amazing but then everyone of you would think it was Katie Holmes. No kindnesses from her at all. You would think Kristen Stewart would be out there kindnessing everywhere. Nope. Anyway, this actress is B list. Probably B-, although she has close to A list name recognition. She does movies and television, but pretty much limits herself to one movie role. Oh, and she has been in back to back hits on television. Anyway, our actress actually read something about the homeless in a tabloid or possibly a gossip website ahem and wondered how she could get involved. Apparently there is a real lack of reliable transportation for people who are homeless and searching for jobs. Because of the limited public transportation in LA, the radius for a job search is limited in scope. Our actress heard about this and arranged for 10 vehicles to be bought which not only transport homeless people to job interviews in places they would normally be unable to access, but also to take them to work everyday and pick them up. Our actress also pays a portion of the salary for the drivers of these cars who are also all former homeless people. She has encouraged other members of her show to help out and they have chipped in enough to pay the other salaries and to also contribute to other programs to help homeless people get jobs.
<3 this!
ReplyDeleteAlso like the hint about Katie Holmes...not so nice, eh?
Katie is nothing but wonderful. Don't believe everything you read.
DeleteOkay. I won't believe you.
DeleteBack to back hits, and the second one must be on TV now..."She has encouraged other members of her show"
ReplyDeleteGot nuthin.
Jennifer Love Hewitt maybe?

ReplyDeletePlease tell us who it is. I'll be sure to support her show. Wonderful to read positive stuff on here.
ReplyDeleteWhoever she is, she's wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE HER!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not only did she want to help, but she thought up a creative solution, not just a quick fix of handing out sandwiches (also nice but not long lasting effects). This is brilliant. This kind of story is what tells me people are good.
ReplyDeleteNo idea who this is but they are AWESOME. Whoever it is, they are a class act. I had Sarah Michelle Gellar in my head, but I don't know if she's on a show at the moment.
ReplyDeletewhat about Allison hannigan or whatever her name is from How I Met Your Mother /buffy and her American Pie movie role?
ReplyDeleteEmily VanCamp (Brothers & Sisters, Everwood, Revenge)? her movies seem to be more horror roles?
ReplyDeleteThis is an awesome story:) Got a little misty. Trying to think of someone who has pretty much "one" (recurring) notable film role and does tv. All I can think of is Elizabeth Reaser from Twilight. She was on Grey's Anatomy and has appeared on The Good Wife recently.
ReplyDeleteI think this sounds like Alyson Hannigan.
ReplyDeleteSomeone from The Office? Hasn't Rashida Jones been in a kindess here? Maybe her again?
ReplyDeleteI co-sign with Alyson Hannigan--I was trying to think of an actress who was known for one movie role and she totally fits.
ReplyDeleteAnd I just love her and the cast of HIMYM so it makes me happy to think that it's them.
Courtney cox?
ReplyDeleteWow. This is awesome, and I really appreciate that she's not advertising her good deeds all over the place. Shows that it's not about "Look at me! Look what a good person I am!" and more about actually helping people. Kudos to whomever this is. If it is Alyson, she has always seemed so sweet so it's nice that it's true.
ReplyDelete@terri i think ill go along with the allyson hannigan guess. im just not sure she has close to A list name recognition. its kind of funny that u even said "or whatever her name is" :p but whoever it is, is AWESOME!!
ReplyDeleteI like the Alyson Hannigan vote, too. What s great unselfish gesture.
ReplyDeleteI thought Courtney Cox too bc of Scream, but I think Allison Hannigan fits better. I think it could be either one of these two ladies.
ReplyDeleteI don't watch much TV..but know her face...and I wasn't ssure how to spell her first name nor her last!!!
ReplyDeleteMy first thought was Sarah Michelle Geller of Buffy fame. She is or.gan.ized! I think she was also a producer and could she her getting everyone else to pitch in. Was Ringer cancelled?
ReplyDeleteI could TOTALLY see Alyson Hannigan. She so sweet. I would want to be her neighbor and our kids would play together while we drank coffe and we'd have wine parties in the back yard. I could see her being The Kindness.
Per usual, I have no guess, but wanted to say I LOVE the kindness blinds. Thanks Enty.
ReplyDeleteSo nice to hear about a good person in Hollywood. God bless you.
Rashida Jones was the answer to another homeless blind from a while ago. She donated part of her salary to pay for apartments for families in need. Something like that. Don't have time to look it up.
ReplyDeleteI think Allyson too! Good for her.
ReplyDeleteI would love for this to be revealed. I want to help. :)
ReplyDeleteGinnifer Goodwin?
ReplyDeleteHow about Connie Britton?? She was in Friday Night Lights and American Horror Story. She seems like she would be super nice in real life... LOVE HER!
ReplyDeleteAlyson Hannigan was the first name to come to my mind. Whoever she is: we need more like her.
ReplyDeletelove it.
ReplyDeletejust saw a story last night about a baby that was left in the middle of a low income project. the reporter was saying "all the mother had to do was drie to this hospital a few miles away". and i thought, yeah, she just gave birth, proably a teen, and is poor. wonder why she didn't call her driver to take her?
phones and transportation are a big issue for getting the homeless back into the work force.
I thought of Courtney Cox and I see a few others have also. Really hope it's her.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking JLH...but she's still B+/A list for TV.
ReplyDeleteConnie Britton = A list name recognition? I don't think so.
ReplyDeleteOh...LOVE the Ginnifer Goodwin guess. I'm going with her.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be an oddball and say Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
ReplyDeleteI say Hannigan, too.
ReplyDeleteBack to back hits: Buffy ad HIMYM
Single movie role: This one time, at band camp...
I think Connie Britton is a great guess, but good luck to her getting Hayden to pitch in without press involved.
ReplyDeleteKind of hard to guess without any more clues, I think? With this information I would say Hannigan too.
ReplyDeleteCo-sign on hoping it's AH. It's true that lack of transportation is a major problem in job hunting. Imagine how dispiriting it must be to take two or three buses to an interview and not get that job - or get it and face that commute.
ReplyDeleteI like Allison Hannigan so I'm going with that guess. She seems like a very nice person and the rest of the cast of HIMYM seems like they're the kind of people who would do something like this. Nice to know there's still decent people in Hollywood.
ReplyDeleteAlyson Hannigan is not A list name recognition.
ReplyDeleteNice to know someone took the time to not only think of what homeless people really need but then garner support from her other cast members. Whoever it is this needs to be a reveal.
ReplyDeleteagreed topper.. i wouldnt know her name if i didnt read gossip sites
ReplyDeleteAlyson Hannigan
ReplyDeleteA List name recognition makes me think this is definitely Courteney Cox
ReplyDeleteAlyson Hannigan is lucky to be B List name recognition. I'm going with Courtney Cox.
ReplyDeleteWhoever it is--this is an incredible and creative gesture.
ReplyDeleteJulie Bowen?

ReplyDeletealyson hannigan?
ReplyDeleteAlways plays the nerdy girl(American Pie for example/Buffy).
Now on How I met your mother, also a huge hit.
I don't think LA has limited public transportation, its just poorly organized. I have a wheelchair bound acquaintance in LA and she gets around where she needs to go. Yes it is very time consuming and yes she has to change frequently.
ReplyDeleteIt could be either Courtney or Allison, I suppose. Is Courtney's show really a 'hit'? ABC shuffled it around so much it was hard to keep track of, and hasn't it switched networks now?
Claire Danes
ReplyDeleteJennifer Morrison, maybe? With House and OUaT being the shows. Don't know about the film role--maybe Kirk's mom in the Star Trek reboot?

ReplyDeleteNot only kind but there's a lot of smart in this charitable idea, too - good for her!!!
ReplyDeleteTransportation is always a huge issue, and there's a lot of room to provide such services to people who find their lives severely limited by it. I don't drive, by choice, and I have seen/heard some crazy consequences that people with less flexible lives have suffered in this car-reliant society.
I have no idea....but , "BRAVA!"
ReplyDeleteI can't make Connie Britton fit because of the "one movie role" comment.
ReplyDeleteKristen Bell? She is definitely the type.
ReplyDeleteI think Courtney Cox too, she has the money to do this and is only really known for scream movies and then her gossip show and Cougar Town.
ReplyDeleteAw guys, this story gave me goosebumps! Its nice to read after all the bad stuff going on. I think its Alyson Hannigan. She is known for the American Pie movies and was on Buffy and HIMYM, both hits. CC would not fit- Cougar Town sucks and is by no means a hit. Trust me, I follow the shows creator on twitter and he talks about how awful the ratings were.
ReplyDeleteTina Fey!
ReplyDeleteSounds like Christina Applegate.
ReplyDeleteYeah, this does seem like AH after the Random Photos from today. What a great story:)
ReplyDeleteThis sounds 150% like something J. Love would do. She's extremely active with the LA Mission on Skid Row and for about a decade has given up her holidays, and other days, to serve food and hand out gifts at Christmas to children at the shelter.
ReplyDeleteNice
ReplyDeleterashida jones
ReplyDeleteWhomever this is, good for them. I wouldn't class AH as almost A list recognition though everything else fits.
ReplyDeleteAlyson Hannigan just had a baby, so doubly admirable if it's her. Whoever this is, they are building a better world for people who are being brave enough to seize an opportunity and believe in a different future, awesome!
ReplyDeleteJudy Greer
ReplyDelete@@Erin Connie Britton was in FNL the movie as well as the tv show. Love her. Not sure if she's A-list name recognition, though.
ReplyDeleteTotally Alyson Hannigan! Yay!
ReplyDeleteI love love love kindness blinds - Thank you Enty!!
ReplyDeleteI want things like this to take off in all communities. Solutionism!! Find a need and fill it. Give low/no income people the opportunity to work and be proud of their accomplishments. My heart is singing right now. La la la la la :)
What a fantastic idea--not only to provide the ride but to give MORE people jobs actually driving the cars to take other people to find jobs.
ReplyDeleteWhoever this is should be in politics...they are thinking better than some of our government people.
Great job, whoever this is.
Who ever she is, bravo! Class act all the way.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea.
ReplyDeleteBack in the day when my job was in social services, I was always amazed at what a difference giving someone who was looking for a job a prepaid cell phone so their prospective employers could call them back. Helped more than one person land job that way.
ReplyDelete@Effervescent Diva
ReplyDeleteI want to be really careful so I don't set off a political firestorm, but I don't understand why these types of practices are not standard! I want to believe that the majority of able-bodied/minded people WANT to work, so why not use tax dollars to set them up for success. Business clothes, prepaid phones, even a freaking address! Some people do wind up homeless, and employers reading job applications don't want to see an address field left blank. So sad but true.
Btw, thank you for the work you did in social services :)
Alysson Hannigan or however you spell it.
ReplyDeleteCarla Gugino known as spy kids mom in 3 movies she was on spin city and entourage I think
ReplyDeleteAnd she is NOT the type of person who would do this.
DeleteEnty gave us a clue with the letter K - not Kate and not Kristen S. but... Kristen Bell or another K name. If it's Kristen Bell, I bet there are sloths painted on those cars or maybe on the interior seat covers. I'm more of a lemur girl myself.
ReplyDeleteGreat act of kindness!
ReplyDeleteAs I was reading it, I thought Alyson Hannigan. Perfect fit.
ReplyDeleteMila kunis?
ReplyDeleteMila kunis?
ReplyDeleteNo to all of these...
ReplyDeleteIt says A name recognition. That, to me, means I can ask my mom a name and she would know who the person is.
So, I say no to Alyson Hannigan, Sarah Michelle Geller, Rashida Jones, Connie Britton, Kristen Bell, and whoever else. That would only leave Courtney Cox and Christina Applegate??
Obvs Ally Hannigan.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't everyone grow so tired of the "list" debate? My A List is your C List and if your great aunt hasn't heard of someone, they're nobody? Tee hee hee.
Alyson Hannigan seems to fit the bill (granted aside from SM Gellar & Courtney Cox, most of the names above are unknown to me, & thus fail to fit the description).
ReplyDeleteBut tho' Alyson was teetering on A-list after Buffy owing to American Pie (which was too summer-trashy to take an actor far), she deservedly went on to become in-demand on TV, & is now B or B- as E says.
A lot of us WANT it to be her, because she projects a sweetness that feels genuine. Sure, she is all over UK Tabs w/Baby Photo Ops, yet they seem less career-boosting than baby-boasting. Seriously! She seems to use Twitter less for PR as to fulfill the ultimate Mom/Baby Brag fantasy (I'm NOT a Celeb Baby fan, but can't withstand her affection, pride, & joy in their little'uns).
And to be honest I want hers to be the name behind the Blind because in addition to her natural talent, it would reaffirm a sense of her off-camera bona fide 'Kindness.'
Cannot feature Courtney C or Sarah Michelle thinking much about social issues & what contribution they as individuals might make to help; sorry. And (not that it's bad!!), every holiday J Love is papped in an apron spooning soup &c at a feed-the-hungry line. So where PR is involved she's not the sort to be Surreptitious ;).
