I just finished reading about this on Yahoo. Poor guy - you know he's done that exact same dive 1000 plus times and each one was perfectly executed. I didn't see the video, but from the pics, I wondered if he had some sort of leg cramp??? Really feel for him...
"Instead of completing the maneuver and disappearing into the water with barely a ripple, he landed flat on the middle of his back. The resounding splat prompted a loud groan from the crowd, while each judge scored him zero." - I finally got to see the video. I think the description is better.
It has been shown several times in Britain and I can’t help feeling so sorry for the poor guy. He was in the foetal position and when he came ready to straighten up and slip into the water he couldn’t do it. You can’t help but feel for him and wish his mother would come and bundle him up in her arms.
Lol I watched this happen, they keep on showing it and I feel bad for the guy - notice they don't keep on showing the British guy who got 0 for his final dive - slipped off the board did a somersault and entered the pool as if you were jumping into it, that was really embarrassing too.
Dammit Enty... The video is "rejected" and this creates a Google fiasco for my lazy ass.
ReplyDeleteDenied!!!

ReplyDeleteThe Olympic Gods are warning you, Enty:)
IOC is working overtime blocking their videos everywhere.

ReplyDeleteOuch--reverse bellyflop.
ReplyDelete(Thanks, Cindy, for the animated GIF link.)
ReplyDeleteMy husband said if Germany has a terrible English-tabloid newspaper, their headline could be, "What the Feck?"
ReplyDeletePoor guy. At the end of the day, he's at the Olympics and I'm on the couch just watching and eating chips.
Poor thing.
ReplyDelete@Snapdragon, ...at the Olympics with your whole country watching.
ReplyDeleteWith the World watching ..
ReplyDeleteI read FSP's description rather than watch it. Hate to even "hear" it.
OUCH!

ReplyDeleteMy heart breaks for him. Poor guy!
ReplyDeleteThe Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards of our generation.
ReplyDeleteApparently he slipped on a banana peel.
ReplyDeleteI saw it when it aired here with my husband. We both had the WTF reaction. Totally shocking. I felt bad for him.
ReplyDeleteSo now we can use "feck" as an adjective and be suitable for work, as in "boy, he really fecked that one."
ReplyDeleteOne headline I saw here in aus was oh feck. Worst dive ever!...Poor guy lol
