I know various sites continue to report that Seal is worth $15M. No chance. At the peak of his fame, he probably was not pulling in $15M. He has not had a gold record in the US since 2003. He plays live, but not as much as he could and does not pull in the kind of crowds that would let him make anywhere close to $15M a year or even $2M a year from performing. You don't give permission to exploit your kids in an ad campaign if you have plenty of money. When Heidi filed for divorce she requested primary physical custody. No joint custody at all. Heidi also said the couple has no joint assets. Seal disagrees with that because he needs some joint assets so he can get some money. If the guy really had $15M he would not be worried about trying to find these joint assets. From what I know, Heidi paid for almost everything in the marriage and continues to pay for when the kids travel to see their dad which has only been once and that Seal did not pay for any of their staff or bodyguards. This divorce could get very messy very quickly but I think Heidi is just going to write him a check to get the guy out of her life. She knows what he did and wants him gone forever.

Enty's right about Seal's lack of money--about the only money musicians make is from touring and from side projects such as perfume and clothing lines. Nearly all the money they get from albums goes to their record company and management and agents. Absolutely Heidi was the breadwinner all the way.

ReplyDeleteI watch Project Runway with the fiancee all the time and Heidi comes across as pretty smart. She's German - trust me, with or without Seal, the lady's finances are in order.

ReplyDeleteNot that he would be worth 15M, but he is a songwriter and that is worth huge money. Kiss From a Rose still gets played like crazy. His publishing and royalty checks are huge. Especially since he didn't share writing credit. Yes, most musicians make the bulk of their money these days from touring. Unless they are a songwriter and had hits, then it's game on. That's the root problem in most band break ups...sharing songwriting (ie money) credits when the band hits. But that a whole other Oprah...

Don't forget, Seal had a horribly abusive father. It didn't seem like he had any chance for success, yet he did, even if he's not what he used to be. I bet Heidi fell in love with the REAL Seal and tried to help him and maybe he was good at first but he's given into his demons? Just my guesses.

ReplyDeleteHum...I always thought Seal must have been a really wonderful man for Heidi to fall for him....because it sure wasn't for his looks! I know that sounds harsh, but beauty is on the inside and I figured he must have been really beautiful on the inside, considering...you know...but I guess his insides aren't all that pretty either. Too bad. I thought they were a great couple and feel he is really talented.

I remember seeing a photo of her once it looked like she had a black eye and saw a video of her cringing and him ordering her to get into a car as he yelled and swore at photogs and heard he has a violent temper and always wondered if he abused her and if that's why she really divorced him....

ReplyDeleteOne thing that caused Heidi to fall for him was his endowment. She's talked about this on multiple occasions, even on Oprah. When she met him he was wearing swim trunks or something. She saw his junk and she could see he was packing.

ReplyDeleteI was in the same flight three weeks ago with Seal, flying from Zurich to Nice. So figured he was on his way to st tropez as I haven't seen or heard he was in Monaco. Quite tall, didn't talk to him so have no impression of him. But was sad when I heard they broke up as they seemed to have a strong marriage.

ReplyDeleteI can understand someone not seeing Seal as attractive, but there is something on the inside that shines through and makes him somewhat intriguing...he is exotic looking...truly does look like a Seal and those scars on his face give him some mystery. All kind of do-able. However, how sad that he has a problem controlling his temper.
