Robin Roberts Goes On Medical Leave A Day Early
Robin Roberts' last day on Good Morning America was supposed to be tomorrow morning before heading off to receive treatment for her MDS. However, there appears to be something wrong with her own mother, so Robin is flying to Mississippi to take care of her mother before receiving a bone marrow transplant as part of her treatment.
She is so lucky her sister is a perfect match...hope her mom's o.k
ReplyDeleteMan, when it rains it pours. Healing vibes to all.
ReplyDeleteThis woman has been through the mill. Hope she gets through it all ok.
ReplyDeleteSad :( hopefully it's just stress with her mom or something.
ReplyDeleteThis woman is a class act and I pray for her mother and her....
ReplyDeleteShe's STRONG
ReplyDeleteSending all my good vibes to her.
ReplyDeleteI hope the tide turns for her soom and that she will begin to find herself in good health and experiencing more peaceful times. Her dignity and poise impress the hell out of me.
ReplyDeleteGood vibes to all these amazing strong women.
ReplyDeleteSending good karma wishes and hugs her way. Sounds kinda trite, I guess, but I think she's great and hope she pulls through this.
ReplyDeleteI just signed up to be a bone marrow donor. It's really easy--they send you some q tips in the mail and you swab the inside of your cheek (I pretended that I was a wrongfully accused suspect on CSI), and mail it back to them, postage free. I would suggest everyone do this--can you imagine how great you'd feel if you were a match for someone who would die without your help? Here's a link to "Be the Match." http://marrow.org/Home.aspx
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link Gladys- I'm going to look into that!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes to Robin, her mother and sister.
Re Bone marrow transplants:
ReplyDeleteWhen I first heard of them in the 80s, being a donor involved a very painful drilling into the pelvic bone to extract marrow. I believe this is NO LONGER THE CASE.
A friend did a "bone marrow" donation a year ago, and it is more correctly called a "Blood Marrow" donation. They hooked him up like he was giving blood and ran the blood through a filtering machine and then back into him, with "marrow" components filtered out for the transplant. He said he was tired for a day after, like he had taken a trip, and that was all.
LOVE YOU ROBIN! SEE YOU SOON!
ReplyDeleteChris Rock is one of the people replacing her on leave- CAN HARDLY WAIT!
Robin Roberts is one of a kind. She is truly amazing, charismatic such a fantastic role model for all women. I will continue to pray for her and her family. To Enty -thanks for the Robin piece. Love her.
