Random Photos Part Three
Carly Rae Jepsen and Matthew Morrison at the US Open.
Christina Milian getting into a Conga line.
Cannot wait to watch Dakota Johnson every week.
Emma Watson shows off her boyfriend.
Facekinis are all the rage in China. Apparently Chinese women are bog fans of 80's Mexican wrestlers.
Gisele Bundchen probably made sure she had her teeth whitened before this appearance.
Harry Styles from One Direction hanging around people his own age for once.
Jessica Alba will probably now be the new NRA poster child.
Kristen Bell in Zooey Magazine.
Do I want to know who Carly Rae Jepsen is?
ReplyDeleteMaybe...
DeleteIs Zooey magazine published by Zooey Dashanel? Facekinis HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!!! I know a few people who need them but of course I would be nice and say "it looks good on you"!
ReplyDeleteCarly Rae sings that song "Call me Maybe". She's probably going to be a one hit wonder, but she does have a cute voice.
ReplyDeleteThe whole "facekini" concept is to keep one from getting a tan or burn--it's sunscreen x 1000. It's very fashionable and considered desirable to have as pale a complexion as possible in many Asian countries, hence the vast number of "whitening/brightening" products for sale over there, so if you're really paranoid about the sun, I can see how this would work. Personally, I'd rather stick w/a big parasol & sunscreen, or just staying inside, but that's me...
ReplyDeleteI think sunkissed skin looks so attractive, but the sun is soooo bad for you. I kinda wish that pale, pasty white was in style over here too.
ReplyDeleteFacekinis look so uncomfortable, like a Halloween mask.
ReplyDeleteCarly also sings in that Owl City song "Nothin' but a good time" it's a hit too. I imagine she might have reached her limit, but who knows?
ReplyDeleteThat's actually her song featuring former One Hit Wonder Owl City.
DeleteI think it was a smart move for both parties. They combined forces to give themselves a second hit.
I don't like Jessica Alba as a blonde.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't sleep last night and Vday was on; her hair gets too brassy.
Something about Harry Styles irks me. His face reminds me of an oompa loompa. It looks like it should be on a little person's body.
ReplyDeleteIn China, tanned skin is associated with being a poor person (a peasant class) while being pale means being very rich. Just a parasol and some SPF won't be enough, you must be PALE to show your luxury status. There are chica's from mainland China around here that put on full-length gloves and sun visor hats that cover your entire face FOR DRIVING TO THE STORE. I kid you not.
ReplyDeleteBoy, I learn something everyday on this site! I didn't know that about China. I guess every race has color issues.(shrugges shoulder)
ReplyDelete@crila16 - I never tan & I take a lot of crap for it from friends. When they say "My God, you're so white!" I just say "Yep. No skin cancer or wrinkles here!" I don't care at all if it's in style! I like the way I look with a tab, but those of us who don't actually stand out more!
ReplyDelete"chica's from mainland China " - Never thought I'd read a phrase like that on CDAN. Love it !
ReplyDeleteWow. That was some poor grammar with that typo. The last sentence should have been: I like the way I look with a tan, but those of us who don't tan actually stand out more.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations. You just won the Grammar Douche award! You can collect it by giving yourself one more big pat on the back.
DeleteI was "tab" ??!!! Am i missing something??? Haha!!!!! Made me start my day with quite a laugh!!!!!! Then to back it up w Grammer Douche! I hope I dont wake up the house! That was priceless!
DeleteBTW TV Junkie- I will be standing out w u.....very white! And i live where everyone tans and I stick out like a sore thumb! But no...ok few wrinkles...and no skin cancer...so far!!!!
DeleteThose facekinis make me think of The Gimp in Pulp Fiction.
ReplyDeleteI'm a ginger, so obviously tanning is out of the question for me. The older I've gotten, the more I've grown to love and appreciate my pale skin.
I have freckles, though. What would they think of me in China? That I slum it every once in a while? I really didn't know that about their culture. CDAN is entertaining AND educational. :)
It's not just China. Also Japan and Korea. Paler skin = higher class. Darker skin = poor, field workers.
ReplyDeleteLike Robin said, I was amazed at all the facial whitening products in the store. The drug stores had rows and rows of whitening facial masks and creams. It was surreal.
My good friend (White American) is married to a darker-skinned Japanese man. They live in the USA. Their baby is very light skinned and his family is over joyed. They love that the little boy is so "white". Racial issues are not just an American thing...
Filipinos too
DeleteThat Jepsen song has grown on me since I first saw and heard it here (maybe looking at Justin and Selena et. al. in that video was just too much) and Jepsen co-wrote the tune so even if it's a one-hit wonder, it should make her rich. Now what she does with the money remains to be seen.
ReplyDeleteThose facekinis look very odd but I'm super pale (mostly Irish..reddish hair) so I get why people use this for sun protection. Or whatever they use it for, to each his own!
ReplyDeletehey manj, I'm from Sillycon Valley it's a stewpot of like, diversity and shit. And super excellent restaurants! I've got a ramen, dumpling, an Ethiopian and a Persian place all on the same street within four blocks of each other.
ReplyDeleteI'm also super pale and I think a strawberry blonde before I started going gray when I was 18 (this month I'm a redhead). So, yeah no tanning for me. I'm about as day-glo as they come.
It's so nice to see a hot chick like Jessica Alba shot from behind and not a single ugly fucking tattoo in sight on those shoulder blades. Good for you, Jessica.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in Malaysia in 2005, face "whiteners" were everywhere. I too am pale, like one tiny level above albino. My brother got my dad's Mediterranean skin colour, I got my mother's Canadian east coast fishy-white skin.
ReplyDeleteAll that to say, my brother is olive skinned and his wife is Chinese. They have two little girls and their skin colour is the most glorious colour I've ever seen. It's so beautiful, I wish it were mine.
@Jaded, no kidding, eh? I haven't seen shoulder blades without flowers or dolphins or stars in a long while.
I'm totally anti-gun but we went to The Gun Store to shoot guns when we were in Vegas in April. It was so fun.
Gisele is wear a towel, right? Because if that is a designer dress, it probably costs more money than it should to end up just looking like a towel.
ReplyDeleteEmma Watson's bf is really cute.
ReplyDeleteJessica would look a lot better with a racerback bra. Sorry, but I hate obvious bra straps showing.
ReplyDeleteThose facekinis look like they would make your face sweaty, which would drive me nuts!
It isn't as much a racial issue as it is social. A whiter skin means you don't have to work in the fields, in agriculture, for them. Just as much as western society focus on tan, cause it means you're not at the office, you have time to be lounging at the pool or beach. And so grows the market for skin bleachers and fake tanners...
ReplyDelete"call me maybe" is horrible.
ReplyDeletenever heard of the face masks. but like the idea! no more make-up, woot-woot!
@Syrax said...
ReplyDelete"It isn't as much a racial issue as it is social."
So is the whole concept of "race".
once again a picture of a cloud in Dubai is used as a picture for Isaac. That's just not correct.
ReplyDeleteI thought the facekinis were some kind of Pussy Riot protest!
ReplyDeleteNever understood gisele's appeal, but im not a guy, sooooo......
