Did you know Prince Harry had a Facebook account? According to The Daily Beast he did. The account was under the name Spike Wells. That account had about 400 friends and has now been closed. His two buddies who were with him on the trip to Vegas and also to the Bahamas also closed their Facebook accounts. The account has been known for about a year because Spike would frequently comment on the pages of his friends. It does not say in the article what Spike's profile photo looked like.
No one cares.

ReplyDeleteI sincerely hope it's not a sex tape, but who knows with young people these days. I say that as a 41-year old; I just don't see the appeal of making sex tapes so casually. ESPECIALLY with the rampant hacking, especially in the UK.

ReplyDeleteI feel for the guy. I think he's just trying to be a normal 20-something and he pays a big price for it. Would it be better if he were isolated and proper, or would he get ripped apart for that as well? Give the poor guy some space. It's not his fault he was born into this situation.

I have to say, this story stands out to me, double standard-wise. If it was a woman I don't think the general consensus would be, "Well she's young and single!".

ReplyDeleteThe big deal is probablyy being made by those around him, in order to save face. Oh, the embarrassment of not being proper. I know 40I some year olds who act worse than this. Least, this is a once in how long, thing. Not everyone has the opportunity to be ridiculous in their youth and should have the opportunity to make up for it. Twenty years from now, this will be a much more fun memory than if he had been stiff and proper.

ReplyDeleteI don't think the real problem is that he's royal but that he is in the military. If the behavior isn't going to tolerated from a regular army captain they can't tolerate it from a royal.

If he's booted out of the military what are they going to do with him? Princess Margaret could have her fun but she wasn't expected to work. Right now Dad and the Aunt and Uncles are doing the major royal duties and William fits his in around his military service.

ReplyDeleteThis isn't his first time losing control and getting caught. He's not a teenager--if he wants the benefits of his rank he needs to settle down and do the job--which doesn't involve embarrassing his family.
Somehow this incident bothers me less than the Nazi costume did for some reason.
He's got some of Diana's recklessness in him, I think. If he wants to be a rebel he should walk away--I'm sure he has enough personal fortune to live comfortably and have his fun.
I don't think he has that much money. I seem to recall that Diana's estate was estimated at $22-30 million and that there was clause that they didn't get the principal until they were 30.

If Harry et al "just want to be normal" then step off the boat and find a job. IMO royals have absolutely no right to complain.
