Most DJ's are lucky to make a few hundred bucks a weekend and they can be very very good. Of course they are also not on a television show seen by millions of people. Last year, just as a DJ, Pauly D earned $11M. Yep. He made the most by far of any of his fellow Jersey Shore cast mates and is closing in on Kim Kardashian territory for the most by a reality star. Pauly D ranked 7th last year in earnings. Afrojack made $9M last year which is probably the reason Paris Hilton followed him around like puppy dog. Tiesto made over $20M to rank as number one and it would be a damn shame if he was overtaken by Pauly D. Tiesto headlines concerts and sells 20,000 tickets. Pauly D shows up at a Vegas club and is asked to DJ as part of his promotional duties. I'm not saying he isn't good, but Tiesto is the best.
I am not ashamed to say that if Pauly D stopped with the dinosaur hair and was no longer orange, I would trap him in my spank bank.

DeleteNot fapworthy for me, but if he ditched the razor-sharp douchehair and Oompa Loompa spray tan, I'd have a lot more respect for him.

ReplyDeleteI think his popularity is fairly earned, he was an enjoyable and entertaining character to watch on JS and is definitely a natural performer. He's talented at getting people to like him.

ReplyDeleteHe's by far the best among the JS bunch and the only one that has actual talent and charm. If anyone from that group is going to get paid, let it be him.

ReplyDeleteMy BF has assured me that Vinny and Pauly D are actually cool guys, based on all of the hours he's logged watching JS. I guess Vinny is legitimately a really smart dude. Of the people on the show and the few times I've watched, those two I can tolerate.

ReplyDeletePauly D is superb. And the passionate love story with tender little Vinnie? What the hell was that all about? I really loved that cast. They were all fairly funny to me, and I know that people hate them a lot, but for me every time JWoww adjusted her bra I fell to the floor.

DeleteYeah Vinny only seemed 'really smart' in comparison to the rest of those chalupas, meaning he has probably about an average intelligence. He seems like a pretty decent guy on one hand, but on the other he is also mui mui spoiled by his momma, who he treats in the stereotypically-Italian way (like his servant, basically).

ReplyDeleteTo be fair, he is the best of the house. I get sick of a lot of reality stars hanging on and on, but if people are going to spend money on them, I can't begrudge the stars for taking advantage of it.

ReplyDeleteHe's from my home state - one town over from where I grew up. My sister has mutual friends and she says by all accounts he's a really nice guy. When he comes home he still goes to his favorite local places and still goes to the same guy who has cut his hair for years.
Having a brand that is based on his reality show stardom definitely ups his paycheck. If it weren't for Jersey Shore, Pauly D would still be a capable DJ, but he might be lucky to have a six-figure income. DJs in this country just don't get the superstar status that they do in Europe or Asia, and they definitely don't demand the high-dollar paychecks.
