National Enquirer Blind Item

Which super-skinny TV personality says she doesn’t have an eating disorder, BUT works out semi-disguised so no one can recognize her? The married mom-to-be shows up to the gym with sunglasses, hair pulled down and a hat, then finds the farthest, out-of-the way treadmill to shed even more weight!

  1. Gulliana Rancic... FTW!! Too easy!

  2. But... Isn't that really dangerous for the baby?

  3. Isn't she using a surrogate ?

  4. Oh how scandalous...(rolling my eyes) is national enquirer turning into knee pads?

  5. Gulliana was the first person I thought of, too. She makes me so sad. I want to like her, but her complete denial of her eating disorder is just too sad. I don't understand why the people in her life keep enabling her by ignoring it. Doesn't anyone love her enough to have an intervention or something? If I were her husband I'd have put the breaks on the baby until she got treatment.

  6. If you're that determined to hide, why not just buy your own treadmill or go for a run outside? She surely can afford it!

  7. @Linnea, she is using a surrogate. She actually admitted on "The View" once that a doctor had told her that she'd never be able to conceive until she gained weight. Then later she discovered her breast cancer and had treatments, which probably degraded her fertility even further.

  9. Her sister is very thin as well and has a couple of children.

Perhaps they are just genetically thin?

Perhaps not---she did cry in a episode where her doctor told her she needed to gain five pounds. Five.

  10. I'm with flanny. This blind makes no sense.

  11. Could be Julie Bowen or Kelly Ripa

    ReplyDelete
  12. the blind says she is a mother to be. not that she is pregnant. so, technically speaking, it could be guiliana even if she is using a surrogate.

    Def Rancic. Sad.

It's Giuliani rancic. I wanted to like her and as someone who has had miscarriages my heart breaks for her. However, I agree with what most of y'all said. If you aren't willing to put on weight for a baby you clearly want, you need to think about whether or not you have an ED. I read an I gerber with her about a year ago where she went through her food and exercise routine for the day. She tried to make it sound like she was eating a lot but the calorie count was around 800 and then she was exercising on top of that. I bet she overestimated on her food and is even eating less than that.

Interview, not gerber. Sorry on my phone is special.

  16. yeah def is Rancid.

Her doctor said she could conceive naturally if she gained a few pounds... so on with the IVF!!! That's how she discovered the breast cancer. How messed up you gotta be if you won't gain 15 pounds per doctor's orders for a baby you desperately want? Now that gone through the cancer treatment and the baby's on the way (via surragacy) she is thinner than ever. Granted, hollywood wants 'em thin but c'mon - why is her people, her husband whatever not saying anything? She's in danger territory now.

  17. I like her and her husband - they seem genuine (I know, I know).
I do recall her saying on her show that she had to maintain a sample size in order to fit into the designer clothes for her show. That would be an enormous amount of pressure.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Why doesn't her husband say anything? Because a lot of guys in the Hollywood scene are just as messed up (sometimes more) about weight and body image.

Also, if she does indeed have an eating disorder people telling her to "just gain weight" isn't going to do much to help her. It's like telling an alcoholic to "hey, don't drink". It's more complicated than that.

  19. I'm not an ob/gyn, but reading around I find that pregnant women are advised to do cardio to strengthen their muscles and to stay limber. Also, the discomforts and awkwardnesses of pregnancy can be alleviated by slow steady exercise, like a treadmill. I'm not seeing the "treadmill = eating disorder = a reason to be concerned" equation here.

  20. Agree it's Rancic. I recall some young fashion bloggers going on about hr healthy lifestyle choices and quoting/copying bits of her routine and food intake.
So sad that girls looked to her as inspiration, err thinspiration.

  21. news flash! you do have an eating disorder. its called anorexia athletica. and its probably why you had major difficulties conceiving and are using a surrogate.

  22. I would love for my doctor to tell me I needed to gain weight haha.

I had a friend in college who battled an ED multiple times, went to rehab, came home and still had problems. Liek KZoeT said it's a very mental thing. You can't just quit, like any addiction it takes time.

  23. totally giuliana. i was wondering why a "mom to be" would be trying to lose weight, then remembered giuliana is not pregnant but using a surrogate.

i have a friend who works on her show and says giuliana is very nice but really does barely eat.

  24. THE HORROR! Somebody actually...WORKS OUT?! Call the press!

  25. Why can't they just design a camera that doesn't add 10 lbs? It's the effin' 21st century FFS.

  27. Kelly Ripa had a segment on Live! where she worked out at a spinning class so it's not her.

My first thoughts were Bethanny or Rachel Zoe, but I guess TV personality would lean more towards Guiliana. It's sad really because Guiliana's looks are so distorted because of her weight.

  28. I thought I had heard some gossip chatter about Bill having an ED as well, but I could just be misfiring again!

  29. Being on a treadmill does NOT mean a person has a eating disorder. It's possible for a person to be skinny-fat.

  30. I was going to be judgy about Guiliana whe she refused to gain the weight nesessary to concieve, but I remember that scene in Knocked Up when the E! execs ask the Heigl character to lose 20 lbs without actually saying "lose 20 lbs." Now I judge her for putting TV fame before a child she claims to want.

  31. It's so petty but my main bone of dislike for Guilianna Rancic is her dogged obsession for 90's Hollywood Mega Hunks. Everytime I see her red carpet interviews she will not shut up about George Clooney and Brad Pitt, it's like, move on to someone more recent but no she has like an alarm that sounds when Clooney arrives at an awards show.

  32. Yep this is def for the blind item challenged. Too bad I never believe any of them.

  33. I think it is Bethany F as she now has a talk show (although I have never seen it but I hear it was picked up for fall I think), she has her BRAVO shows, she was the main guess for a BI where someone has an ED and would cause her whole brand to crumble (Skinny girl empire not achieved by ingredients but by purging). After her first pg she was on the view weeks later back to her before weight so probably wants to "bounce" back again. And as a cover for her ED.

My friend gained 4 pounds from stress eating and refuses to have dinner with me until she sheds them. Four pounds! She used to be overweight and is completely obsessed with the number on the scale even though physically she is clearly fit and very slender. I've tried talking to her about it especially since we have the being overweight kids in common but she won't accept it, won't even hear me out and tries to pretend her reactions to such small weigh fluctuations are completely normal and not the result of a body image disorder. Meanwhile, I don't freak out all if I notice I gained a few extra pounds. If it starts to affect my wardrobe, I work out a few extras hours wih the trainer but it's not that big a deal to me. It's strange that we have such an opposite reaction given that we have such similar experiences. It's even stranger that some people can look in the mirror and see something so completely different from reality.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I think I have some sort of reverse anorexia. When I look in the mirror I think, eh, not that bad. Then I see a photo of myself and think I'm overweight.

    1. I have the same thing! I've been underweight, healthy weight & overweight. It all looks the same to me in the mirror. Not in pictures of course, but the mirror is cool.

  36. I've seen it and dealt with it, it is very up close and personal to me. ED is just like an addiction, it's awful and you never stop obsessing/thinking about food just like an alcoholic or drug addict. It is a truly awful mental state. I know it seems ridiculous to some people, 5 lbs, 10 lbs, whatever. It's so much more than that...

Not to slander an entire organization but I've noticed that my friends who lost weight through Weight Watchers are the ones exhibiting ED and body image issues after losing all the extra weight. All that point counting must be a conduit for obsessive behavior. Even if it's just a coincidence, I'm still glad I lost my weight on my own through proper diet and exercise sans all the calorie and loin counting.

Ha ha, loin counting. I don't even like pork. Point, obviously.

  37. I saw Giuliana's daily eating plan online once and it was terrifying. It had all these instructions like to always always always order your salad without any dressing and to be super-careful about whether the waiter put sugar in your tea. She sounded absolutely paranoid. She also made it sound like you would get hugely fat if someone gave you a non-diet soda. What a way to live.

I have no doubt this is her.

  38. Def Guiliana. Her eating habits are totally bizarre and restrictive. She lies to restaurants and tells them she is allergic to butter and oil because she refuses to eat "even a drop" of fat, and chugs Yerba Mate all day to curb her appetite.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Armchair diagnosis - Guiliana has some pretty serious issues with food and weight, and she continually finds ways to justify her issues. "The camera adds 10 pounds" or "I need to be able to fit into sample sizes" are just excuses. First off, she's an EP on her show, so there really isn't a higher-up to tell her to lose weight. And now that she's no longer trying to get pregnant she's clearly dropping even more weight at a pretty rapid rate - am I the only one that's noticed in the new E! promos that she's scary-skinny now? She was so upset when it was made clear that she needed to gain weight to be fertile (one of the hallmarks of an ED is putting your body under so much stress that you no longer ovulate) and she literally could not understand why people didn't have sympathy for how upsetting this news was for her.

  40. Where is the gossip in the blind? A celebrity wears disguises to avoid being recognized when they go work out. That's been celebrity SOP since Garbo was wandering the streets of Manhattan. Nat Enq needs to raise their game a bit.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I don't know about the US but sample sizes in Australia are 8/10 which is 4/6 in the US. She could totally be a healthy weight in those sizes. She was thin when she started but not this thin.

A commenter above was talking about her instruction for food and the paranoia. I read a book excerpt in a weekend mag about a 10 y.o boy with anorexia. He was scared to even touch objects that weren't food for fear of gaining calories from them. I hope she doesn't get to that point. And perhaps seeks counseling.

    ReplyDelete
  42. like she works out in a public gym? Right.
    CALLING BS ON THIS!

    ReplyDelete
  43. An anorexic hiding exercise would be forced to go to a gym to work out because her family would have removed all treadmills, and anything that could be used as jump ropes, from the home. A celebrity would have staff in the home, and be wary about being seen running in the neighborhood.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I never watched that show, and tried to find clips but they were all blocked- dd she really get that upset about having to gain weight to have a kid? That sounds... Unbelievable.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I think it's Racic (sp) too. Besides the cancer, what is all this strain doing to her heart? EDs are horrible on the heart.

Also, if she is this militant about her looks/weight, I feel sorry for the kid already. A lot of women with EDs pass them down to their daughters.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Giuliana DOES work out in a public gym, I have friends in Chicago who see her there. It's called The East Bank Club, and it's very, very nice. I can see why she'd prefer this to working out at home, it has so many perks and bonuses.

Oh, and the friends who see her there say both she AND her husband are extremely thin. And last I heard that was months ago, and on tv she looks even skinnier now.
