Mika Comes Out
Long confirming what everyone suspected, Mika came out to Instinct Magazine this week and says that all of the songs on his new record are all about times he has had sex with different men. Three years ago he admitted to being bisexual but never came out and admitted he is gay. Until now. "If you ask me am I gay, I say yeah. Are these songs about my relationship with a man? I say yeah. And it's only through my music that I've found the strength to come to terms with my sexuality beyond the context of just my lyrics. This is my real life."
Good for him.
All I know about this one is that he's friends with Perez Hilton. And that he wears frugly hats.
ReplyDeleteExactly.
ReplyDeleteROTFLOLing I second it, who is he?
ReplyDeleteLast night Stephen Colbert came out as a straight guy.
ReplyDeleteLol! I saw that
DeleteWho is this again? Hey Enty how about I give you a picture of me and a really juicy story to go with it - it would be the same as this guy no????????
ReplyDeleteI only know him from when I used to read Perez. They were buds. Never heard his music tho. Good for you dude.
ReplyDeleteLove his songs and went to his show! Seriously!! Great show! Didnt know he was in the closet... Its so obvious...
ReplyDeleteNever heard of this chap.
ReplyDeleteIf a tree falls in the forest and nobody has ever heard of it before, does it matter if it makes a noise? In other words, Who??? and Do we care???
ReplyDeleteHe's a Freddie Mercury wannabe. No thanks, I much prefer the original.
ReplyDeleteEvery song is about all-male group sex experiences? That could be a boring collection.
ReplyDelete@Roman Holiday
ReplyDeleteI'm all ears . . .
"If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, then have we found the perfect location for a Nickleback concert?"
ReplyDeleteSeriously?! Who is this guy? Never heard of him?!
I double my comments because I'm just that funny I guess.
ReplyDeleteI had to google and watch a video. Enjoyed it. However I would be more surprised if he came out as straight.
ReplyDeleteMika is amazing! It's sad he didn't become more popular in the US, happy ending is one of my all time favorite songs. Do yourself a favor and listen to that song.
ReplyDeletealways love that song, mikas songs make me happy for some reason but my fave is definitely happy endings, it's beautiful, yeah and I thought he already came out lol
DeleteSunny,
ReplyDeleteLet me think of my juciest and one of the best/worst pics I can find then we'll see who story is better!
Him coming out - that is old school these days! :)
Long confirming that none of us here give a shit, we commented.
ReplyDeleteLOL@ discoflux!!
ReplyDeleteMika is great. But really? He wasn't out yet? Well hey, good for you, man. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteHe's too pop-oriented to be a Freddie wannabe. Not surprised that he's gay, but I enjoy his music a lot. There are those who do like his music.
ReplyDeleteI've been a fan for a few years, but I thought he was out all along.
ReplyDeleteIf you're saying you've never heard of him, you very well may have heard Love Today and not realized who the singer is.
I've never of him before and I suspect I won't again.
ReplyDeleteThe only Mika I've ever heard of is Mika Brzezenski on Morning Joe. I was shocked!
ReplyDeleteLol!!! Yeah I can imagine that would be truly shocking news!
DeleteI love Mika. He was on the verge of being a massive star a few years ago and his sister had a life-threatening accident so he took time out to be there for her. He's seems to be one of the good guys.
ReplyDeleteIn other obvious news, Elton John likes to be dickmatized and Cher has had plastic surgery.
ReplyDeleteOh, I thought Mika was already out. He's really a breath of fresh air. What a great voice, and what a cutie!
ReplyDeleteI'm on the "who's this guy?" bandwagon. No idea who this dude is but good for him I guess?
ReplyDeleteHe's been out. He's been asked multiple times if he considers himself gay and he always says yes.
ReplyDeleteHe had a huge hit in Europe in 2007. I don't remember if the song was released then, but Mika's Relax was the most played song that summer. It'll always be the anthem for my summer in Greece 2007. Good times!
ReplyDeleteIf anyone wants to check him out on youtube, I highly recommend the following songs: Big Girl [You Are Beautiful], Happy Ending, Grace Kelly
ReplyDeletei was pretty sure he yet said he was at least bisexual(he is very famous in France)
ReplyDeleteNow I have Grace Kelly in my head. And as if that song wasn't a massive indicator.
ReplyDeleteWhat's with all the Mika hate? I love him and Cartoon Life is one of my favorite albums.
ReplyDeleteFor those that don't know who he is, check out "Big Girl (You are Beautiful)" or "Grace Kelly". He's an awesome, awesome musician!
ReplyDeleteJaiden: people tend to hate what they don't know. They claim it's a matter of taste. Maybe it is. But quite often, it's not.
ReplyDeleteI think he's a great singer that deserves more credit. It's sad that he doesn't get more recognition cause of his flamboyancy and being gay.

ReplyDeleteLove Mika!
ReplyDeleteGrace Kelly is one of the funnest, catchiest songs, I love it.
ReplyDeleteI like his music---but I have to wonder what this part of his statement means: "And it's only through my music that I've found the strength to come to terms with my sexuality beyond the context of just my lyrics. This is my real life." It's only through his music that he's found the strength to understand his sexuality beyond the context of his music? Huh?
ReplyDelete@VargasGirl
ReplyDeleteYES!! Happy Ending by Mika is one of my all time favourite songs!
he has a couple of great songs, all of his fist album!
I also love the Relax :)
He was HUGE in Europe a couple of years ago
He has some really great songs, I love Rain, I see you, Grace Kelly, Kick Ass (from the movie). They always leave me in a good mood!
ReplyDeleteI like Mika! I even went to a Mika concert a few years ago. Good for him though I already thought he was openly gay.
ReplyDeleteWith his song that says "I want to be like Grace Kelly..." it kinda said it all right there. No surprise, not shock...don't even know why this is news.
ReplyDeleteI've been a fan for a few years. I Still have "I See You" on my ipod. Love Grace Kelly and Love Today too.
ReplyDeleteFor those who don't know.....his Dad is American, his Mother is Lebanese. They moved to France when he was fairly young and the family eventually settled in the U.K.
Yes, he's a fan of Freddie Mercury but I don't thinks he's a wannabe.
He seems really down to earth in interviews.
