After the first four choices turned them down, it looks like Michael Strahan will become the next co-host of Live With Kelly And The Ex-Football Player. It also looks like Michael won't have to keep renting luxury cars anymore and will be too busy working to follow Nicole Murphy 24 hours a day like he does now. I'm not sure anyone saw this choice coming. Michael did a good job when he co-hosted and when Seth Meyers and Anderson Cooper and NPH turned them down and the producers got tired of Nick Lachey calling them every few minutes to see if they had reached a decision, then the big winner was Michael Strahan. The announcement is expected in September and Michael will continue to be a part of the panel on FOX NFL Sunday. Were there better choices out there? Yes. But, don't forget that Kelly wants to be the star. With everyone who turned them down, Kelly would not have been the star. Plus, if they had given Nick the job then everyday people would have been waiting for Kelly to go on vacation so Vanessa could step in, so that was not going to happen. With Michael, Kelly is the star. Period. As friendly as she is, she is still an actress deep down inside and wants to be loved and wants to be the center of attention and having Michael there will allow her that role.
I like Michael Strahan, and think his big gapped teeth are adorbs. I think it'll be a cute match-up, though I don't watch morning shows of any kind so this doesn't even affect me whatsoever.
ReplyDeleteI watch the FOX football pre-game every week (in season), and he's a very sweet, fun guy. Easygoing, it seems.
ReplyDeleteI hope those shows film in the same city? Commuting by plane would be exhausting.
Not a sports person so have no idea who he is but good for him. Hopefully it'll be a happy choice and not something he'll regret later. Plus, always a good thing when a person of color is on a show that's usually so vanilla on so many levels.

ReplyDeleteI don't see how choosing Strahan puts more attention on Kelly. When he jumps up and does a "Magic Mike" dance with Channing Tatum, which he did, who the hell is looking at Kelly?

Michael is a bad choice. He isn't quick witted, a little boring and he has limited experience. I won't watch the show anymore. So many better choices. He makes Kelly look too thin and his gap tooth is bothersome to look at for me. I don't think he is the right person and they will lose many viewers. Didn't have an issue with his ex-wife?

ReplyDeleteI'm fully on board with Amber's comments - love the gapped tooth look (remember, just yesterday I was admitting to a Letterman crush :-), and I also think Nick Lachey is cute as a button.

Heard his wife is not happy as she does not want to leave LA, nor does she want him commuting.
ReplyDeleteHe doesn't have a wife. He ha an ex-wife, and is engaged to Eddie Murphy's ex-wife. I like Strachan, but I NEVER watch this show so have no idea if this will work or not.

Yes, he did have an issue with his ex-wife, but I haven't heard anything at all about issues with Nicole Murphy, so maybe it was a one-time, heat-of-the-moment deal? I don't really recall details, so if someone else does, please step up 'cause I'm too lazy to look it up right now.

Nick Lachey is a babydoll sweetheart, I don't know why he gets a bad rap.
I agree with Emma! Should've been Jerry O'Connell, but then maybe he turned it down too. Sounds like Kelly's become a bit of a diva.
ReplyDeleteMy dream choice is Neil Patrick Harris but he wasn't available. She and Anderson were good together. Prosbt seemed to be the heir for a long time so much so he got his own show.
