Jerry Nelson Has Died


Jerry Nelson, the puppeteer known for playing the instructional Count von Count on Sesame Street, died Thursday of unspecified causes. He was 78. In case you are more of a Fraggle Rock fan, he also played Gobo Fraggle.

  3. The Count is my favorite Sesame Street character. I used to work with a guy that had the same laugh as the Count. Cracked me the hell up. RIP Jerry Nelson.

  23. I read that he had emphysema. Brutal way to go.

    When I was little, I didn't really start speaking for a long enough time for my family to be moderately concerned. When I finally started, it was ALL about Sesame Street. Long, complicated sentences, possibly paragraphs, about Sesame Street just would pour out of my mouth, apparently. So, yeah, it was my show when I was a kid. Every death amongst the cast hurts, even people whose faces I didn't even know.
