Chicago Dad Fights Off Kidnapper Of His Toddler

There you are, in the center of downtown Chicago. It is a Saturday afternoon and you are enjoying time with your family, including a two year old girl. Suddenly a man rushes up to your toddler and tries to grab her while screaming that she is his Goldilocks. He beats the dad in the face, but the dad does not let go. The man finally gives up the toddler and runs. The dad, chases after the kidnapper for 30 minutes through the streets until police finally catch the kidnapper and charge him with kidnapping and battery.

The dad, who was with his girlfriend, their newborn and their four year old daughter as well as the 2 year old saw the man looking at his kids and put his body between the man and his daughters. None of the girls has been able to really get any sleep for almost the past week and are terrified it will happen to them again.

  3. Makes me sad for their family. I hope they get some sleep and lose their fear. Scary situation for such young girls (and the parents).

  4. 30 minutes? I'm lucky if I can run for 30 seconds. Good for the dad. This guy is a menace to society and should be locked away. I shudder to think what would have happened if it was just the mom with the girls.

  5. So scary. I hope this fades from the childrens' minds soon. :(

  6. Kidnappers these days are so ballsy it so scary. Trying to kidnap a kid right in broad daylight in front of their family. I just can't even imagine how horrific the whole ordeal was.

  7. Ok America. This is why we need to stop being the fattest nation and all get in shape! We all need to be able to chase potential kidnappers of our children for at least 30 minutes. Put down that Krispy Creme and get yourself a salad with vinaigrette dressing and walk to the store instead of driving your SUV. If protecting your children isn't reason enough I don't know what is.

  8. Now THAT is a father! Had this been a family where the parents were paying zero attention, which happens more often than not, this would have ended completely different. LOVE this story!

  9. That story gave me chills...Wow. Nothing like an adrenaline dump to allow you the focus and energy to make the chase!!! And kudos to the dad for being aware of people eyeing up his kids. Wow. Wow. Wow.

  10. the creep also punched mom several times, local news outlets failed to give many important details. With the closing of the mental facilities, defunding of health resources and lax staffing for police the streets are indeed dangerous, watch out folks!

  11. We should be able to lock up most of those schizophrenics.

  12. Things like this terrify me, and would easily turn me into a hermit if my hubby weren't so good at talking me off the ledge.

We're pregnant with our first, and seeing stories like this already make me a nervous parent. :/ But, I feel safe knowing our kiddo will have parents with fierce mama and daddy bears, when it comes to protection.

  13. Those poor girls.

I tell people that I feel bad for any person that even tries to harm my child because I will beat them within an inch of their life so they can still be sent to jail and Bubba or Bertha can make them their bitch.

  14. Go Daddy! I am so glad that had a happy ending, even if the family is rightfully scared....imagine if that sicko got away with her.

  16. Hearing this story, I can't help but think of the guy who dropped his baby & hightailed it out of that theater in Aurora. left behind is girlfriend & her other child. I wonder if they're still engaged.

  17. I'm glad this has a happy ending for that family and hope that the children get some therapy.

As for the kidnapper, it makes me want to punch something. Sorry state of mental health care.

  18. This is why shows like Toddlers & Tiaras need to be canceled. It fuels these pedophiles and their fantasies, when the fantasies aren't enough than things like this happen.

Hope he enjoys being someone's "Goldilocks" in jail you mofo.

  19. This was in Daley Plaza in Chicago, smack dab in the center of the Loop, HOWEVER it was at night on Saturday. It's kind of rare to be in that area of the Loop at night on the weekend, it's not as crowded at nighttime simply because there are so many offices and not as many restaurants or hotels. Either way, how f'ed up. Good for the father. Unbelievable.

  20. Hadn't heard about the guy in Aurora bailing on his family...really???

  21. Way to go, Dad! Being a parent gives you super-strength. I'm with whocares - mess with my kid, and you're going to be sorry. Like REAL sorry. I'm getting worked up just thinking about it!

  22. @Ice Angel... yep! He & his girlfriend took their 4 month old son & her little girl to the movie. He put the baby on the ground & bailed, got in the car & drove away. A 19 year old kid saved the mom & 2 kids after they were both hit with shrapnel.

  23. Way to go dad! The kidnapper is lucky he didn't try to mess with my man, he would have ripped the guys face off. Sick pervert is now going to be somebodies bitch in prison!

My number 1 favorite thing about hard core criminals (not pedophiles or rapists) they hate hate hate men who put their hands on children. Usually pervs have to be kept in special housing because the normal thugs will FUCK them up!

  24. I can't believe the crime and murder rate in Chicago. I would like to see the follow up on this, what kind of times, etc the perv gets. So glad she is safe.

@ katsm0711 - Yes, that's why everyone should eat well and exercise - to catch kidnappers.

  26. @mango if that doesn't get people to get in shape, can you think of a better reason? What makes people panic more than the safety of their children?

  27. So with that logic, I'm off the hook because I don't have kids. Great! I'll have a double cheese burger and fries for dinner and then collapse on the couch with a half-gallon of ice cream. Thank you!!!

  28. wow, that dad is amazing. Hope they put this crazy guy away for a long time.

  29. Poor child! I hope they are able to move past the fear!

  30. Death penalty without a costly trial sounds about right for the asswipe that the dad caught.

  32. Bravo to both parents. I am glad this is being publicized so others are alert. I hope we don't end up with pre-emptive strikes. Since my husband & I couldn't have children we often look & comment on other people's, hopefully people don't jump the gun. Having written that, we don't grab children & call them our Goldilocks either.

  33. Is there something wrong with me? (shut up!) I read a story like this and all I can focus on is you have 3 children with a woman, but you can't commit to marry her? I'm sorry, that bugs me. OK, one kid, things happen, but 3?? Put on your big boy pants and marry the mother of your children!

    ReplyDelete
  34. @turkish taffy - what if it' the mum who does not want to get married? what if they both are happy and content and do not need marriage to add to that? shades of gray... shades of gray... [not the book for goodness sake! hahaha]
or as we say in Italy - minding your own business is the first rule for healthy social living :P

  35. This is why I'm a bit of a Velcro mom. I work with people who are mentally ill, and have been through some scary times. It's also why my 7-year-old girl is in karate classes. Call me a nervous American. I'm even considering getting a gun and concealed carry permit, and I've never thought about it before. Having kids deters me from the gun idea, but seriously, I have bordered on an anxiety disorder because of stories like this, the kid in Philly a few weeks ago, and the kid in Ocala, Fl Wal-Mart before that... Too many examples. When I was in elementary and junior high, on two separate occasions, I was attacked while walking hone from school. One time, a man tried to force me into a car, and another, a man groped me on the way home from school. This problem isn't new, but it scares the heck out of me... I need a glass of wine now.
