72% Of Lady GaGa's 29 Million Twitter Followers Are Fake
Huffington Post did an analysis of the 29M followers that Lady Gaga has amassed in her never ending competition with Justin Bieber to have the most followers in the world. In their analysis they found that up to 72% of her followers are fake and are the same used by people who purchase followers from companies set up for that purpose. When Huffington Post used the tool they discovered that 34% are definitely fake and another 38% are inactive which is usually what happens when companies do not keep up with ones they have previously created. Yes, it is also what happens when a regular person quits using Twitter regularly, but 38% of 29 million is way too big of a number for that. They also found that Rihanna and Kim Kardashian have more bad followers than good.
hahahahahahhaha
ReplyDeleteThis made me LOL. I am just not a fan of Gaga. I have tried to like her but can't. She thinks she is such a special unique flower.
ReplyDeletewhat are these people 12 years old? So stupid!
ReplyDeleteColor me surprised.
ReplyDeleteHahhahahaahahaaahah!
ReplyDelete(and I admit (with terrible shame) that I actually follow Gaga on Twitter).
Well my WHOLE universe is crashing down around me,,, Celebrities lying about "twitter" followers. I don't know I will be able to go on.
ReplyDeleteI'm laughing at this being news. OK that and being in competition with someone who will be irrelevant as soon as his testicles descend which should be any week now.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile GaGa admits that 72% of her is fake as well
ReplyDelete^ this made me lol

ReplyDeleteWow! No idea this was an industry. Probably effects her payout for endorsements. I don't use twitter.
ReplyDeleteLady Gaga is #someonewhowillbeentirelyforgottenin5years
ReplyDeleteSo Lady Gaga, as popular as she is world-wide, only has 8 million followers? That doesn't seem right, either.
ReplyDeleteI've never understood why anyone pays any attention to her at all. The woman's obviously deranged.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't give a hoot about anything twitter-related. Just wanted to say that she looks pretty cute in this picture as a "normal". She should be one more often.
ReplyDeleteDoes that mean all of Biebers are real?
ReplyDeleteI cant believe this is all the Huff post has to do!!!!! Whats next?? An expose of m&ms deliberately limiting the number of reds in each bag!!!!! Silly pointless info!
ReplyDeleteThese same type of companies also exist to get Apps onto the most downloaded apps list on iTunes. iTunes search sucks, both from the mobile site and the desktop application so millions of apps go completely unnoticed unless they get that bump.
ReplyDeleteI wish I created these fake follower companies. They probably make a lot of money since celebrities are always competing for followers.
ReplyDeleteSo, does this mean there's a way to find out that there are fake accounts created (and never used) just to make a star look like he/she has lots of followers? I know that lots of young girls do that to make the object of their affection appear to have more Twitter followers than he actually does. Never understood the point of fans doing that.
ReplyDeleteI read yesterday (and maybe it was a CDaN reader comment) that teens will make a Facebook/Twitter/Whatever account, parent will bust them (or they will get bored or maybe even get locked out or forget the password) and make another. I'll bet that accounts for many of those accounts.
ReplyDeleteSo is the article implying that she paid one of those services to get more followers? I don't understand how else those fake accounts would follow her
ReplyDeleteSo Bieber just passed her a note in class that said "I win".
ReplyDeleteI work in publishing and the fake followers/fake reviews thing is a huge issue for us. For $5.00 you can get a bunch of people to post fake 5-star reviews on Amazon, for example. Or gain 1,000 facebook fans or whatever. What happened to integrity?
ReplyDeleteWho cares? I have a twitter account and have tweeted maybe twice, I don't get the appeal. I'm too lazy to bother closing the account.
ReplyDeleteI like Gaga, but it's hard to defend her after she was seen hanging out with Lindsay. Ugh.
either way, she has followers and we are discussing her right now. so....
ReplyDeleteIntegrity? What's that??? Don't put apps on my iPhone either. Not doing it.
ReplyDeleteActually, Newt Gingrich got busted for this during the Republican primaries and apparently a ton of celebrities do it.
ReplyDeleteThere's a guy a know who is a professional fighter and has a twitter who has paid to have a 'follower astroturfing'. It directly led to a large deal when he was renegotiating with a sponsor, as many less tech savvy companies think that twitter actually means something.
I have to imagine that the vast majority of Kim's money comes from sponsors and advertisers and free gift givers, so she has to make it look like she has MILLIONS of followers and huge market pull.. Otherwise, why would people pay her $100,000 to wear a pair of their jeans in one twitter photo?
I have seen spam on FB that advertises the ability to get you an additional 1000 fbf in 10 minutes. I guess if ur into that type of following, the service is useful...shrugs
ReplyDeleteI would say that about 99% of GaGa is fake so why shouldn't her twitter be fake to0. I can't wait till her 15 minutes is over and she fades away with her meat dresses and strange hair and wandering around with no pants and idiotic shoes.
ReplyDeletePOTUS does this.
ReplyDeleteTell me it isn't so! Her Little Monsters don 't really exist? What about Mariah's Lambs?
ReplyDeleteI think the only one out there that has a true # of followers is:
ReplyDeletePatton Oswalt..........
