Police have arrested a couple because the new addition to their family is not their child. A couple in Kentucky was charged with human trafficking after they traded a truck for a newborn baby. The baby belongs to a Florida woman named Heather Kaminskey. Police are searching for her. Heather traded her newborn for the truck and then promptly sold the truck for $800 worth of meth.
Heather had left the state because she didn't want Florida Child Protective Services to take her baby. They had taken her other two babies and also had warrants out for her arrest for other drug charges.
worthless excuse for humanity.
ReplyDeletePeople here have suggested sterilization and more unpleasant remedies for someone who would sell their child for meth.
ReplyDeleteI've come to think that a dedicated drug user with a history of losing children to the state should have to get a shot to prevent pregnancy. This should also apply to any woman on welfare, for the duration of the welfare.
My husband works in Pharmacy at a major hospital, over half the babies born are being given methadone, and are of indigent parents. Two hundred nurses just lost their jobs because the hospital had so many non paying patients.
Babies shouldn't have to be born into addiction, or be the paycheck for abusers of the system.
Del this is a fantastic idea. Unfortunately Liberals will never allow this.
DeleteId actually say conservatives wouldn't allow it. At least here in Texas, where access to planned parenthood/low cost womens clinics are becoming almost non-existent. And the main reason is because these clinics MIGHT perform abortions. Last time I checked providing someone a shot to prevent their meth-head self from getting knocked up was a helluva lot cheaper than providing welfare to an addict with a baby who will likely have medical problems. Not to mention that kid will likely just repeat the cycle.
DeleteOff my soapbox now.
Ugh ! Discusting n of course the couple that wanted the baby are the only ones arested thats justice . I am not defending them but the states make it so hard for couples to adopt who cant conseive that i can see how some couples can get desperate for a baby n theres always ppl out there who are scum ready to take advantage.
ReplyDeleteI know this sounds harsh, but she should have her tubes tied. No child deserves to born into that mess. She also needs hardcore treatment - she'll only keep using in prison. Addiction causes people to do terrible things.
ReplyDeletenot to mention the mental/psychological issues that this child (and probably her other children as well) will face because of her substance abuse during pregnancy and subsequent abandonment of them.
ReplyDeleteCunt.
I'm going to assume that she didn't stop the meth then whilst pregnant.
ReplyDeleteAnd usually I am pro giving away the child when you must or choose to do so, however, there's something wrong with the two who bought the child. Yes, I am judgmental.
Poor baby doesn’t have a cat in Hell’s chance of living a healthy life having been born an addict. Effing ‘mother’ needs her tubes tied around her miserable neck. Don’t bring a child into such a horrendous ‘home situation’.
ReplyDeleteThere was a report on meth babies on one of the news magazine shows and there was nothing sadder than watching a nurse pour methodone into the baby's milk so it would calm them down. It would only last a few hours before they would start up again.
ReplyDeleteI would like to know what was up with the "adoptive" parents trying to get around the system. I wonder what they were going to do with the baby, I shudder to think about how hard this child's life will be.
Sad to say I went to school with this girl, but don't remember much more than her name because I'm old and forgetting things now...
ReplyDeleteOk people. There is a huge difference between meth (i.e.. methaamphetamine- crystal meth) and methadone. This woman clearly sold her child for crystal meth, not methadone. Methadone is used to treat opioid addiction and for pain relief. Crystal meth is not. Also methadone is safe for babies and pregnant women, while crystal meths not safe for anybody!
ReplyDeleteNorplant for her. Can be reversed if she gets her stuff together.
ReplyDeleteAshlea - this liberal is all for it. I've seen too many children damaged by their fucked up drug addict parents.
ReplyDeleteYes, this is a soapbox topic for me.
I am speechless! Just when u think humanity cant get any stupider or horible, along comes exhibit a to confirm y our worst fears I dont u nderstand exactly what transpired, but if the couple_ who look like they are 16- took the baby and treated him well, maybe in some weird way they were trying to help.
ReplyDeleteBuffy...methadone seriously is not safe, for babies or anybody.
ReplyDeleteI know of women (from when I was on it back in 2000) who had seriously f'ed up kids. And to boot, it literally took me YEARS to get my body and mind back once off that shit. The way I explain it to people is, it felt like red ants running all through my central nervous system. Now mind you, black tar to kick would have taken a week, two tops.
Also, go into any methadone clinic as ask the junkies who invented Methadone and why. I'm sure your perspective will change (and mind you, I promoted Vermont getting methadone clinics that year, as I felt it was the best thing to get me off the streets, etc, which it did as it was legal. I went off 155miligrams after six months, of course ama. IN hindsight, I regret offering up my opinion to the paper on the subject because of now looking back at the damage it did to me, as well it infuriates me that it is THE number one prescribed pain reliever by US doctors. Not for junkies, but for regular folks!!!!!! That's a fucking tragedy. I can't even imagine an elderly person trying to kick that shit.)
//and I no nothing of crystal meth.
**scuse me, KNOW nothing....
ReplyDeleteMethadone is like my #2 passion of what I am against after pedophiles.
//sorry. It winds me up. I should also add that I lived in VT, and had to drive two hours to greenfield mass for my methadone, ON 115 miligrams. Mind you I was so small I didn't even get my periods. So as you could imagine, I'd drive through towns and have absolutely NO recollection of even going through. So if methadone is the most prescribed pain reliever (and in the usa 80% of the population are on synthetic legal meds) just think of how many other people are out there, driving around in a car, which mind you IS a certifiable, weapon of mass destruction, HIGH. And they are so high they are driving as I had been, legally....high as a kite.
And yet, herb is still public enemy number 1. My advice, detox off all that shit, b/c until you do, you are a slave, maybe unwittingly, but a slave none the less.
Imams - thank you. Well said.
ReplyDeleteProject Prevention pays men and women with addiction issues to participate in birth control. They offer a variety of options, and were featured on CNN.
It's messed up that so many people who want kids can't have them while trashy people are like baby factories. People like this are always Fertile Myrtles.
ReplyDeleteThe poor kids didn't ask to be in these situations, and that's why I wonder why programs such as Project Prevention haven't taken off. I'm sick of hearing about these poor excuses for parents! Project Prevention pays addicts to be on birth control or to be sterilized. Almost every addict doesn't regret their decision to participate and wish they had done this sooner. The woman who started this organization has adopted eight kids from the same drug-addicted mother, and that's where she got the idea from. Check it out: http://www.projectprevention.org/
ReplyDeleteDamn straight---
ReplyDeleteSTERILIZATION.
No ifs, ands or buts.
And OTOH, how badly did the truck sellers want a baby, poor things? (providing they had good intentions for it, which could be a whole 'nother issue).
But there are BETTER ways to adopt a child, people! Jesus.
WTH is this fucking country coming to?
I was JUST going to mention Project Prevention, which we hotly debated in my Social Policy class last summer. But y'all beat me to it.
ReplyDeleteAnd this liberal thinks it's a fine idea.
'Merica
ReplyDeleteDid Enty even need to mention that it happened in Florida?
ReplyDeleteI just thought for a minute and I think I came up with Florida is full of "them".
I'm in Connecticut. A friend just moved back down there. I can't believe how cheap she tells me her beautiful luxury, gated condominium is, and then she has the gorgeous beach and cheap cost of living. Could that be what attracts the crazies? Until all these Florida stories started popping up a year (or so?) ago, at least when I started noticing, I used to dream about moving down there.
And yeah, forget illegal drugs. Prescription drugs like methadone turn you into slaves. You would think you're safe because a dr is watching you but I've had my monthly vicodin refilled after 2 weeks back when I was really fat and in pain from a poor diet but they called it lupus and fibromyalgia. I hate drugs. They make you do crazy things like carry a baby for 9 months and then trade it at a swap meet. WTF how fucking crazy is that??????
It's not liberals who are fighting to ban birth control. It's the conservatives. It's not liberals who are doing everything in their power to make getting an abortion impossible. It's the conservatives.
ReplyDeleteHere's the thing: it's a small step from forcing people to have children to forcing them to not have them. And then, who decides?
Personally, I'm all for voluntary sterilization, both short term and permanent. Pay the addicts to get a Depo Provera shot or a sterilization. It's one of those investments that will have a huge benefit in the long run. But don't make it mandatory - offer an incentive, but let it be a choice. Because just as nobody should be able to compel me to have a kid, nobody should be able to compel me to never have any.

ReplyDelete@katsmo0711...Florida has been known for years as a cocoon of crazies. Fark has had a Florida tag for years. I heard that it's a mecca for nut jobs b/c of their bankruptcy laws. You can't loose your house, or something like that.
ReplyDeleteAnd on the drug thing, (I don't know if you were being facetious or not) but my cousin was prescribed Adderal all throughout her pregnancy. Which behooved me completely. Needless to say the baby came out like a pygmy even though it was full term(and yes, I do love them both, but these are truths), and now as a toddler, the child has an unusual hyper-activity problem. And I have had three of my own kids, so no, it's not just the "toddler years" behavior.
BUT nothing will be done as far too much money is to be made and switched hands all around. From the pharm makers, to the pharm sales people, to the doctors, to the ins companies, to the legislators.
**lastly, one day at my former therapist's office I said, "hmm, it smells like Chinese in here," to which he said (and mind you he knew of my anti-drug stance) that the pharmaceutical companies send over chinese and japanese every Thursday as incentives to buy their drugs. Hence, to prescribe their drugs. But I don't just blame them, I also blame the parents I would see, who it seemed to me, were the ones wanting the attention as their kids would bounce off the walls in the waiting room, never to be told to sit the F down, not once by a parent, then as soon as the psychiatrist would come in, up the parent would go, talking, and talking and talking. It all seemed so Munchhausen to me. Seriously. As if the parents wanted the attention, rather then just disciplining their kid! In fact, my therapist concurred that fact with me.
p.s. (sorry then I'm really gone) but as far as sterilization for addicts with incentives goes, some lady was doing that in CA back in the late 1990's. She had adopted some babies who were crack babies, and she did it (offering the women money to be sterilized) because she didn't want to see any more kids born that way.
ReplyDeleteShe may have been shut down, I do remember it made some people angry, but I don't know. I'm sure w/some research someone could find it. She was a white lady and I'm pretty sure the kids she herself adopted were white as well (just more 411 for research purposed).
I have to say, if a woman looking like an addict in withdrawal offered me her baby for my car, I would make the trade without hesitation. I would not let her leave with that baby not knowing who ELSE would take her up on the "offer" or what she would do with the baby if she got her "fix" for other "favors." Then I would call the police with my license plate and report the car stolen, and have them contact CPS about the baby. And I'd be willing to foster him or her until a better permanent enviroment was found. Without a second thought!
ReplyDeleteSo, would I be arrested for that, or praised for that?
Praised by me, WUWT. I would do the same
ReplyDeleteSqueezebox - this is what Project Prevention does.
ReplyDeleteOmama - you are also talking about Project Prevention.
I like you @WUWT. I like to ponder odd or unfortunately potential things to have my decision ready in time since I tend to freeze like a deer in the headlights. I'm going to steal your solution if you don't mind!
ReplyDeleteYeah, steal my solution; I think it's the best thing to do in that situation. I would hate to be charged with "human trafficking" (like the couple that traded their truck for the baby in this story), but I would HATE to find out later that something horrible happened to a baby I witnessed was unloved whom I could have saved.
ReplyDeleteI’m absolutely against any form of forced sterilization. Who gets to decide what warrants a forced sterilization? How many children are supposed to be taken away before we force it on women (because it’s always women)? One? Two??
ReplyDeleteAre you serious? I saw a doc once where mentally challanged girl gv birth. The nurses did everything but stand on their heads to get her to take birth control shot. She wldnt. Camera follows her taking newborn to her sister's to drop off baby. The sister already had SIX of her kids!!!!!!!! This was her pattern- drop off baby, go live homeless lifestyle til she shows up pregnant again. I'm not faulting the girl, she wasnt mentally competent, but are u gonna tell me SHE shldnt hv been sterilized????? And all the children had problems -add, adhd, fersl alcohol syndrome, austic.
ReplyDeleteCloser to home, my friends sister adopted three children from a woman who is on number 8 i think. These kids hv serious, life altering problems- reactive attatchment disorder, descending mental capabilities- her 12 yr old back in diapers- and tye youngest has signs of autism. These are the very valid readons for sterilizing the mothers. Not befire, but by baby three, forced sterilazation. This woman my friends sister adopted from isnt menatally ill, shes an addict. They are beautiful, blond haired, blue eyed children, but so damaged inside because of their mothers choices. Kids were also abused. So in thiese sort of cases, i am 100 percent on board with the sterilization. The child deserves better.
^^ Yep I do. I know about these cases. I work at a court house and have seen plenty of cases come by. The difference here (the Netherlands) is that we try and help as many people as possible in keeping their children. The number of children taken away from their parents is much, much higher in, for instance, the US or the UK. The thing that scares the crap out of me is, who gets to decide what the criteria are? How many children are you allowed to loose before you are forcefully sterilized? How low is your iq allowed to be? The US needs to work on its social help before it takes drastic steps like forced sterilization. Too nazi like for me...
ReplyDeletemy criteria is this: do they really want to raise their children? are they making an effort to do so? It has not to do with IQ, but whether they are trying to take care of the kids. Did they get prenatal care? Did they stop high risk behavior while pregnant? If these things are not evident by child three, then mandatory birth control or sterlization. You do it for the KIDSs- so they dont end up so damaged- adults make their own choices.
