Woman Signs Up For Sex Class - Suing Because Professor Lectured On Sex

I think that if I signed up for a university class called Human Sexuality, I might expect the class would discuss sex. Apparently Karen Royce did not think so. She is suing a professor and Western Nevada College because she had no idea she would have to talk about sex or write about sex despite the fact that the class description said she would. Turns out she didn't read that. She is also suing because the sex talk in class was so graphic. Everyone signed a waiver on the first day acknowledging that the class was graphic. Royce said she didn't read that waiver before signing it. She complained to the school. They investigated and found nothing wrong. She complained to the US Department Of Education. They investigated and found nothing wrong. So, now she is suing for $150K and says her civil rights were violated. Most people just drop a class and move on.

Bitch, please. I hope the judge laughs at her until he/she cries and then fines her for wasting everybody's time.

  2. She sounds like a genius.

  3. Some people just aren't meant for college apparently.

  4. Angel, she's not meant for DeVry, either.

  5. And the final nail in the coffin of personal responsibility has been hammered. This is why I hate people.

Can I sue her because her complete ignorance and utter laziness is offensive to my senses? DUMBASS!

  9. This is ridiculous to the point where I wonder if it's all an elaborate study for another class...sociology, or some sort of law class project.

  10. The link said her other lawsuits were dismissed. I think she's just a batshit crazy teabagger.

  11. What a stupid bitch.

  12. LOL! If she didn't like the subject matter, why did she attend a second lecture?

    ReplyDelete
  13. On the bright side, the fact that she is so horrified by sex hopefully means she's not going to subject the gene pool to her supersmart DNA.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I'm suing her because I thought this article was going to be about her past sexual encounters because I only skimmed the title, stopping at "sex".

  15. Why are people so stupid?!

    ReplyDelete
  16. I hope this ends up costing this ass a ton of money. How totally stupid can you be? You don't read anything you sign and then get upset about it? The judge will throw this out Enty, you have to keep us updated on the results!

  18. There was a more detailed article about this story this weekend and what surprised me were the comments from readers. About every other comment was about how the prof was a pervert and that she was right in feeling violated - all because the class was talking about human sexuality. I'm shocked that some many people are so repressed!
If I can find the link to the article, i'll post it.

  21. I totally agree with Patty about the loss of personal responsibility.

After attending the first class and reviewing the syllabus, I'm pretty sure this lady could've approached the professor and administration to drop the class immediately. That's a fairly standard procedure for most colleges and universities.

What really gets my goat is declaring your civil rights are violated after being given the CHANCE to make your own individual decision on a matter - usually when you are asked to sign something, that is the time to pay attention. She did not and that was her choice. Thus all the rest of this squabbling is 1) an abuse of rights and 2) a waste of many people's time and money.

I would love for the judge to sentence her with a civil rights class, maybe some personal responsibility workshops and community service to symbolically pay back the waste of time all of this bs garnered.

  22. I wish the state could sue and fine stupid people for frivolous law suits.

Mentally unstable people who try to sue various deities at least have an excuse. This woman... no so much.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I hope she does get sued for a frivolous suit. Her lawyer too. What kind of lawyer would even file this

  24. She is probably going to need that money to purchase the various items/accessories that were discussed. The way that she looks and is acting shows that the only D she will be getting will be the batteries in the toy she purchases.

  26. This is how I read it. She actually thought she was signing up for sex class. As in she was going to get some right there in class. She probably went nuts from the anticipation of the first class. She dolled herself up, went down there, and what - it's just a lecture? Nobody's going to do me??? So she reverses her story to the other extreme and sues. Still a crazy, stupid twat, but with a twist.

    ReplyDelete
  27. What.a.twat. I think she did this on purpose thinking she could sue. 150 k for what? Is there a tv interview of her and her righteous indignation?

    ReplyDelete
  28. How did she even get into college?

  29. Ugh. I second whoever said up there that this is why they hate people.

  30. I've already put in my 2 cents, but have to say that every time I scroll past this woman's picture, I lose it and burst out laughing all over again. You can't make this stuff up :)

Whew, your first comment was hilarious!

This person is a dumbass moron and I'd even guess she took the class specifically TO get "munny" outta the whole debacle.

    Idiocracy is happening, y'all!

  34. Omg, Vicki, you're going straight to hell for that comment.

So I'll see you there, ok? We should have lunch!

  35. Let's reserve some anger for her friends and family who you know are encouraging her. This is probably all she talks about and her friends nod and agree and encourage this ridiculous behaviour.

  36. Vicki, you KNOW I love you, but didja hafta make a snarky Bible/Jesus comment? Not all of us Christians are backwards prudes. I promise. ;-)

And this woman is beyond stupid. Like T. Grape, I LOVED my Human Sexuality class. I'd come home every night and tell my 10-year-old brother everything I'd learned. Mom was impressed and kind of relieved that she didn't have to do it. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  37. AKM, my apologies to the more enlightened. I used to be Christian and I went to a Christian uni, so I know how fucked up they are (in general) regarding sexuality. There was ONE lecture about sex when I was in school, and it was standing room only. They mainly just said wait until you're married or you'll get anal warts the size of cauliflower.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I wish my human sexuality class had been half as interesting as this one sounds.

    ReplyDelete
  39. @selenakyle- i came here to comment on just that..Mike Judge was so on point with the movie Idiocracy, its not even funny. And Vicki, as always, thank you for that comment..it was truly hilarious.

  42. I took human sexuality at a small school, so we knew who was going to be in our class. I was a bit embarrassed at first, but loved what I learned from my fellow students. They taught me a lot more than our teacher...lol

  45. Just read the link - how the hell do you draw an orgasm? Isn't that kind of like smelling red or tasting music?

    ReplyDelete
  46. Ugh!!! I am so not surprised! You can't imagine the crap students try to pull when they are unhappy with their grade.

I had a student bring out the lawyers too, for the most ridiculous thing that was covered in my syllabus. And you know what? - my school pretty much made me bend the rules for the student. They were happy with my syllabus, happy with my policy, but "on good faith" thought maybe I should make an exception. Ugh, it sucks not having tenure!

  47. @Vicki,
Although I consider myself a Christian (a not very good one admittedly), I still found your vibrator comment hilarious. Which is a consistent theme with all your comments. You need to get your own blog up, or write for Celebitchy - they could do with writers like you. Kaiser - take note.

    ReplyDelete
  48. She would win the case if she sued the school for not doing its job; they tout these places as facilitators of higher learning and she's clearly still a mouth-breathing idiot.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Weird thing is---I first thought she was the lady from the Taboo show on cable this past week who has fucked like 1,000 strangers and is obsessed and cannot stop doing so.

Truly--at a passing glance she looks very, very much like that woman.

    Hmmm...veddy innersesting...

  55. From what I read on Inside Higher Ed, she feels her rights were violated and that she was sexually harassed because the instructor wanted the students to share personal sexual experiences in a journaling assignment and the final paper. She objected because of reliving sexual assault experiences, but the instructor did not allow for an alternate paper topic.

It's worth noting, though, that she did drop the class after a few weeks - as the department suggested.

    ReplyDelete
  56. How do we contribute money to Western Nevada College's legal fund to defend themselves against this idiot?

    ReplyDelete
  57. Wouldn't the fact that she dropped the class make any lawsuit invalid? Why is she still bitching if she's not even in the class? Is she expecting people to donate money like that bus monitor?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Vicky: for so many reasons! Namely, because she can. But it could be b/c she is a fame whore, greedy, her parents are making her, and/or to get back the tuition she spend on the class (and more).

I love that she actually signed a waiver. I did the same with my students and yet I still got the lawyers on me.

It bet it will never hold up, but the school and prof won't like the publicity. At minimum, I bet they will refund her tuition.

  59. I live in Nevada and you'd be surprised at some of the dum dums who call this place home. The only reason you don't hear about it as much as Florida is because we have a smaller population but the people do just as much crazy and dumb shit. Plus I live in Western Nevada and I've never even heard of this school.

  60. She really looks like Divine in that photo.

  61. After reading the entire article I would say it sounded like this professor was way out of line. Pervy, in fact.

However, his reviews on RateMyProfessor.com are all positive.

This woman must be brain damaged, she signed a waiver, the dept of ed says that there's no problem, who the heck is she kidding? Maybe she's crazy like a fox though and is trying to get a media blitz out of it and some time on piers morgan?

  63. I think how it is so stupid that in the article they mention that the professor locks the classroom door to bar latecomers. But the way they phrase it is to sound like he locks it so he can rape them all. So stupid.
I have had many, many professors, men and woman alike, who have locked the door to make sure people who are late cannot come in. It's common practice.

This woman is an idiot, btw.

  66. I agree that a sociology class on human sexuality can be a very useful class. I believe an overview and study of various related topics can be interesting and informative. But I think this professor, in wanting detailed journals of who/what/how often/in what position/starting at what age, etc, is more than a little creepy. And I would not want to share with a college professor FOR A GRADE a summary of being sexually abused as a child. Most people can't discuss that with people they otherwise love and trust.
I acknowledege people need to go into such a class with certain expectations, so this is not a class she should have taken if she has certain sensitivities with the subject, but I also think this professor may push the limit a bit.

And Robin, I blame you for when I have a raunchy mental image the next time someone tells me, "I feel Jesus inside of me!"

  67. I remember some nitwit got angry for teaching Lolita one semester! Drop the class! Idiots.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I keep imagining how weird it must have been to talk about sex while looking at that woman's rather large and expressive face expressing her horror and rage.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I don't know, I'm on the fence. I read an article about it in Huffington Post and one of the assignments was described as this ""When did I begin early exploration of my genitals? Describe any sexual abuse; How did I lose my virginity? Did I experience a homosexual outing, phase, and what challenges were associated with that? Describe personal promiscuity behaviors. Do I cheat, and how do I feel about it? ..." ".

Apparently, the article says the plaintiff is a sexual abuse survivor. While I question the wisdom of a sex abuse survivor taking a human sexuality class, asking a student to describe any sex abuse they may have suffered seems a little over the line. Regardless, it certainly doesn't seem as cut and dried as Enty makes it seem.

  70. Nancy? Nancy Grace is that you?

    ReplyDelete
  71. @selenakyle - My husband and I watched that as well! Her poor daughter finding out the way she did. :-/

I'm with everyone else that thinks it is a frivolous. I know if I had any apprehensions about taking a class, beyond researching it she could have asked other people who'd taken it previously.

There is no such thing as personal accountability anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Oh, dear god. Why did none of you warn us about the picture of the prof in the article?!!! I agree, the guy and the class sound creepy, but as you all said, she should've just dropped the class.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Maybe I'm in the minority, but my human sexuality class was BORING! All my prof discussed was the pituitary gland and how bad birth control pills were for women. If she had asked me if I masturbated, at least it would have been a bit more interesting.
