Thank You Kneepads - The Dark Knight Victim List

I always give Kneepads a bunch of crap for all the kissing butt they do, but I love how they compiled all the information they could about each of the people that died in the Dark Knight shooting. From the six year old girl to the 51 year old dad who had all his kids escape. Here is the list.

  1. Glad I hadn't put mascara on yet today -- would've been ruined.

May they all RIP, and may their families find the comfort they seek. May we learn from this situation, but still not live in fear.

  4. This is such sad news. I hope each and everyone of them rests in peace.

  5. I'd rather celebrate the lives of the victims than give that crazy narcissist psychopath one more nanosecond of media coverage. He shouldn't be referred by name -- just call him 'prime suspect'.

  6. I fear that "Peace" is a meaningless concept for a mother whose 6 year old was gunned down next to her. And really, how can anyone who is there get over it? This will just keep doing damage for years, decades...

  7. I would have to believe that none of those people that survived that shooting will step into a movie theater again for the rest of their lives. So sad.

  8. this may be flameworthy, but i'm all for the prosecutors going after the death penalty for james holmes.

...and o/t, but i can't help but wonder how the guy that punted the one kid on the floor, left the finaceƩ w/ the 2nd kid...and drove off is going to cope (jamie somebody)...especially knowing another total random stranger--who is 19 YEARS OLD--stepped up and was responsible for saving said 'fianceƩ' & children. that marriage proposal sure has interesting timing. #judgy

  9. Very sad. Especially for the pregnant mother of the 6 yr old girl, who is still in the hospital recovering.

  10. I hope they all haunt that murder's ass and not give him a moment of peace. And may they find the peace they so truly deserve.

  11. I will not read because I need to save may makeup for a meeting this afternoon. But there were three men who gave themselves to protect their girlfriends. Not know the stories behind the others, but I'm sure they lived their lives matter which matched the way they died.

    RIP to all.

  12. Well said,@The. This hurts my heart, but I can't look at those vacant, uncaring eyes any more and wonder what went wrong with a promising soul.
As far as the victims, I have and will continue to pray for them and their families.
I had made plans to see the show yesterday weeks ago with my boyfriend, he had a commitment that prevented us from seeing it in the daytime as I wished.
I felt a lot of anxiety sitting there, and kept looking at the door. I really didn't think it was going to happen to us, but I couldn't stop thinking about it and my eyes were tearing up. It was impossible not to think of their terror when viewing scenes that must have mirrored their own.

  13. While every single loss of life and injury is tragic, the one that is haunting me is the woman in the far right photo. I believe she's the mother of the 6 year old that passed and is listed in critical condition. I read last night that is paralyzed, and has not been given the news that her precious daughter has passed.

Healing prayers for all the survivors and loved ones of those lost in this senseless act of violence.

  14. @Sunny, The Daily Mail, who has an article focused on the victims only. also has an article saying the mother has been told and is obviously not taking the news well. Absolutely heartbreaking. The girl on the right is sadly one of the 12.

Tears coming again. Uggh. Thanks for clarifying, and I will look for the article. I actually had the live courtroom feed on for about 2 minutes, and then thought "What the hell am I doing?" I don't want that monter's evil face in my living room

    ReplyDelete
  16. @sunny I watched the video for about 20 seconds. But long enough for a close up of this wack job. The look of fear on his face...idk I can't describe it, it was unsettling and deserving at the same time.

The picture of the little girl is heartbreaking, there is no other way to put.

  17. I feel terrible about this tragedy, but this has to be said: There should not have been ANY children under 12 at a midnight screening for an ultra-violent movie!

  18. My heart breaks for every family who lost a loved one.

  19. This is very sad.

In watching the court proceedings this morning Holmes looks medicated to me.

It looks like they have a very long haul to bring this to court. The prosecutor said it could be a year.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Baan, I agree. This is soo terribly sad and nobody deserved to die so senselessly. I pray for all their families. But I can't figure out why these very young children were at this movie in the first place and at midnight no less.

  21. I live in Denver, this is so horrible and tragic. Last night I kept freaking out, I can't get the picture of the little girl Veronica out of my head. I hope there's an afterlife of some kind, and these 12 people are together

  22. I'm also glad the killer didn't shoot himself, so at least some justice will be served, and the victims and their families will hopefully eventually have some peace.

  23. How often is the sentiment expressed "Lord, please, take me and not them"?
I would take that deal for my children, girlfriend or wife every time.

As a second choice, of course; everybody OK is obviously optimal.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Please don't associate the name of this movie with this horrible tragedy. Please just refer to it as the Movie Massacre from now on, we'll know what you are referring to. There is no reason to name the movie or the brand name of the theatre, they are victims too. Thanks.

  25. I am bawling now. God bless all of the families and friends who lost loved ones. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

  26. I've never heard of this before (maybe it happens and I just didn't know) but there were a number of victims and victim's families in the courtroom today.

After they finished, they let them go together to a private room and re-watch a tape of the proceedings and to express themselves out loud--for however long they wanted to. Obviously they can't do that during the live proceeding but I bet it helped some of them to get some of their anger and pain out over seeing this man sitting there.

I thought it was a very compassionate idea. Seeing him could have set off a lot more stress and upset that they might have carried home with them--maybe this helped a little.

  27. I've been so sad about this all weekend. Every time I see that monster's face on the news my stomach turns. The stories are just heartbreaking.

  28. I know I'm just a newbie (but a seriously long time lurker), and I'm not trying to take over this thread...but here is a survival story from the shooting from DM: Girl survived a gunshot wound to the head.

I am glad you are adding these links up to thread. I lump myself right into this category (commenting on the salacious things), but I think it's sad that the story of the victims has 30 comments, but the story about the monster got close to 200.

I actually wanted to post a link earlier to help Ashley Moser with her medical bills through the Indiegogo site, but apparently they have frozen all accounts until they can verify their authenticity. From what I've read, she's had a pretty hard life but was trying to get her act together and attend nursing school. She lost her father 2 months ago to leukemia which wrecked them financially, lost her 6 year old that fateful knight, is paralyzed from the shooting, and is pregnant and struggling to maintain the pregnancy.

As I've said upthread, every single story is heartbreaking to hear, but for some reason the story of Ashley Moser and her beloved Veronica just has me shattered. Rip Veronica

    1. Thanks @Sunny. I stopped reading today because I was overwhelmed. I think it's probably easier for people to feel and express anger than to embrace the sadness.

The recovery part is hard. Sitting at the bedside of a sick or dying person is hard. Thanks for sharing info about Ashley. She needs some extra Angels right now :)

I thought the same thing. The father took off and nothing much has been said about the 19yr old HERO who stopped to help the mother, her 4yr old daughter and her baby!!

Here is an article on the two stories. http://newzwars.com/news/19-year-old-hero-interviewed-after-saving-woman-and-her-kids-while-her-boyfriend-fled-the-dark-knight-shootings/

The marriage proposal from the coward father is getting all the airtime while this HERO, Jarell Brooks, and his experience seems to be ignored. I wonder if it is because of his race???

  34. Ok, Pookie and @thisIKnow, I wondered if I was the only one thinking that. I saw the teeny girl say she got the kids out with one on each arm and he said he drive away!
I know it's crazy and hard to say what you would do but that sounded way off.

  35. He dyed his hair before he went on his murderous rampage.

I am also BEYOND sick of seeing his smirking face, and now his "poor me, I am so crazy, poor me" face. Truly a narcissist and a psychopath. Trying to look crazy in court is so very calculated. Put him on a chain-gang so he can pound sand for the rest of his life. I hope he isn't granted the death penalty.

  36. @Sunny, that's is why I kept posting. Everyone kept on yelling at Enty to post pics of victims instead of shooter. I thought they'd show support by commenting. I understand that this is a gossip blog and I don't naively think that there should be an expectation of social conscientiousness.

But, like many others have said, one of the reasons I like CDAN is the community. I came upon the blog through Dlisted after abandoning Ted C when his articles and comment sections became Twihard central. Although I love MK, his comment section is a bit too avant-garde for me (if that makes sense).

The reason I finally signed up for a blogger account was a Suri article. I had been a steadfast believer that TC was biologically related to Suri either through AVF on his part or his cousin (MP). One of the commentators explained the eyebrow theory as a judgment of paternity. And my now I'm a Josh Harnett is the baby daddy believer. I got really excited over that, silly I know. Granted I know one of my most resent comment threads turned into a bit of a tit for tat. And I do regret that I made one comment that probably insulted other readers inadvertently. It was bit of transference on my part. I just recently hosted some relatives from the longhorn state and allowed some of that frustration to carryover into a gossip blog.

    I'm not longwinded or anything.

P.S. Enty needs to start cutting you a check for being comment section moderator, Miss Jazz hands.

  37. IVF not AVF

And one last article about shooting victims. This one is about a couple who went on one last date before the birth of their baby. It seems as though they will be stuck with medical cost (no insurance). The husband was shot in the eye and wife went into labor.

This is the last thing I'll say in this thread, because obviously out of respect I don't want to hijack it
    1) I love CDaN for the community too. I also came here from Dlisted (Michael K is a genious) but I totally understand what you are saying about his comments section. I get so confused (probably speaks volumes about me)

    2) My husband gives me the total side-eye (wink Michael K) for being so into this blog, but I've tried to explain that I think of it like a book club. I have 2 young kids and it's really hard to hold a conversation with another adult because kids 3 and under need so much supervision. This is my outlet, and typically everyone is very respectful of one another. And count me in as someone who gets excited about sleuthing

    3) The moderator comment made me laugh. Thank you. I hate seeing people argue, and I'm pretty good at diffusing stuff in my "real life". Thought I'd give it a go here

    Tippety tap BYE :)

Another gut wrenching story. I linked through the Daily Mail site and saw a way to donate money to Caleb and Katie. The donation site seems legit, but I wish there was one organized website to set up a general fund that could be distributed to help with funeral and medical costs. I'd feel terrible just picking a couple families when so many people are in desperate help. I lived in Colorado Springs for a few months with my parents (while I was attempting to get sober from drugs) and this is not a wealthy area. Just with the types of jobs available, I would imagine a lot of these folks don't have adequate insurance

    This is so heartbreaking

  41. @thisiknow and @pookie

This is just my opinion, but I think the reason we are not hearing a lot about Jarell Brooks is because we Americans are comforted by feel-good hero stories after a tragedy. Unfortunately, to talk about this hero's story we would have to address the disgusting, cowardly behavior of the "fiancee" and that just leaves a bad taste in everyone's mouth.

Jarell is absolutely a hero - what an incredible, selfless, brave young man. Thank you for bringing his story to my attention. I have not watched any news regarding the shooting - I have only been getting my information online. It's just too overwhelming for me otherwise

    ReplyDelete
  42. @Sunny I concur on all points. Also glad I'm not the only one who thinks Dlisters have formed an obscure language that only they understand.

@Pookie I haven't paid much attention to the Jarrel Brooks. The Daily Mail has more variety in its coverage of US news. They have a fair amount of articles covering the real hero's of that day, the 2 boyfriends who took bullets and lost their lives for their girlfriends. The teen girl who tried saving the 6 year (Savannah).

  43. PLEASE READ!

I am going to e-mail this Enty, but I found the official Aurora Victim's Relief Fund set up by the governor of Colorado and the Community First Foundation. 100% of the proceeds will go directly to the victims of the shooting to help them with their immediate and long term needs. These guys really need everybody's help, so please let's get this information out there

When people who have actively tried to ruin your life, or who are friends with, or work for, those who have tried (and failed), it is not possible to grieve for them.

I should repeat what people said to me when I opened up with what happened to me. After that "psychological rape," I had one question:

"Would you want me taunting you if something horrible happened to you?"

They said "Bring it on. We're too smart to ALLOW that to happen."

Consider it brought: I will not shed a single tear for any of the wastes of DNA who perished in that theater.

Perhaps if all the internet-psychologist-wannabes stopped imputing "mental illness" on their POLITICAL enemies, resources might have been free to devote to things like opening the mail at his university.

One university said that my 100 wpm typing was not good enough for a secretarial job, and that my "attitude" was such that I was "unemployable." At the same time, a star medical resarcher at this university drugged and raped a female job applicant.

Did any of these victims care? No.

Are you saying they didn't know? Now YOU know. Exactly.

Let someone steal a few THOUSAND of your paychecks and see how much sympathy you have for them when they die.

Oh and shut up with the "you're just bitter" crap. I could easily say all of YOU are "just bitter" too rather than focus on YOUR injustic e.

Anyone want to speak up for what's right? Didn't think so.

May every last victim rot in hell. Don't worry, they will.
